Bye MG, we’ll miss you a lot!
I know what you mean, though.
we’ll miss you!
DONT GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pwese DONT GO. Ii’ll respond to every single one of your posts
Goodbye MG! Um, well, I guess I won’t ever talk to you again, so I’ll just say- good luck! You deffinately are gonna do great things.
MG-
I’ve never talked to you outside of here, due to parental rules, but even so, you’ve been an awesome human being to know. Your posts have been interesting to read, and through them and people’s reactions, I’ve learned a lot about various stuff: the utter insanity of the debate world, the number of people who see “Montgomery” and think “Alabama” instead of “Lucy Maud”, that homeschoolers do more than just sit around in their pajamas all day, etc. I’ve not always agreed with your various philosophies, but through discussing them at the Hot Topics threads (and other places), I’ve learned about different viewpoints people have, and that you can still have a lot in common with and be friends with someone who has different opinions and ideas.
I agree with a lot of what you say in your farewell post. It seems like as the pace of the Museblog has picked up, a lot of the conversational aspect has gone out the window. it’s becoming harder and harder to keep up with everything, and much of what people are posting, frankly, is not worth reading, and I’m sorry that it’s gotten to the point where you don’t want to do this any more.
Okay, I’m horrible at writing “goodbye” posts, but I want to say that your influence here will be missed. Your combination of well-thought-through posts and happy insanity has brought something special to the blog, and I want to say goodbye, and calo anor na ven.
I see your reasons in going, but I will miss you! You have been one of the best Muse bloggers! You are right in that the Muse blog is becoming more fast paced and way to big as it grows. It is very hard to keep up with and at times can be pointless. (for example any comment saying “OMG!!! FIRST POST!!! Pwease?!?!?! First post???”) I truly miss the actual conversation of the Gaboomba and early muse blog days.
I have enjoyed hearing your opinions and views. Though they oppose my own, I welcome hearing a new voice and I respect your opinions. I miss the inteligent and friendly debate of the hot topics threads which as disintegrated into people thrusting their views under other people’s noses and not giving them time to listen to other people’s opinions.
I too, miss the time when every Muse blogger was truly listened too.
Farewell MontgomeryGurl, I will miss you.
Calo anor na ven.
WHAT?!?!?! What’s this? I totally missed this. Somebody tell me what’s going on please??? *panics*
7+8- I agree, M.B. has become a place where people just type WHATEVER. i try to turn posts into conversations, but most times No One responds. It really is sad.
Good Bye M.G, we really will miss you. you taught me a LOT of things, and i actually really enjoyed your posts.
Please post once in a while such as once a month.
Please.
Oh..i see the post now…
:'(
That is sad…MG you are a very cool MBer. I do understand what you mean though. Ah, the good ol’ days. *sigh* The blog won’t be the same without you though.
Awwwww *cries* faretheewell *snifflesniffle*

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Here is her speech because i thought that it is really good, and every one should be able to read it without having to go to part 2
MontgomeryGurl
*sigh* I really hate to do this, but I feel I must.
I’m retiring from the blog. I won’t be coming here anymore. I want to keep in contact with those of you who I’ve made contact with outside this Musiverse, but for the rest of you I don’t think I’ll ever be able to talk to again.
There are several reasons for this. The first is that this blog just isn’t as much fun as it used to be. It used to be that you could check in two or three times a day, read all the comments, reply to several of them, and then post something and come back a little later and have someone have replied to it. Now people post constantly, and most of the time about entirely disconnected things. No one bothers to read all the comments anymore, so the replying and having conversations is almost totally lost. It’s really a shame, too. But so much of the fun is gone from this blog, I can’t see that it’s worth all the time it takes.
The second reason is actually more pressing to me. I hate to say this, but it seems like every time I come on here something else is posted insulting, undermining, attacking, or just plain going against what I believe (mainly religion). It’s really annoying to be reading some comments, and have some other snide remark about my faith thrown in. I really don’t feel that I can continue to hang out somewhere where my beliefs are constantly being made to seem stupid. Eventually, that kind of stuff gets to you. I’ve been ignoring this for a while, with the vague idea that I would “help you” by talking about trivial matters and ignoring your remarks, but I know I should leave.
I’m sorry about this. I really am. I don’t exist on Nation States anymore (I’m not sure if I’ll go back or not), so you can’t get me there. If you want to find me, talk to Ebeth. I’ll check back in tomorrow night and say one last good-bye, and then I won’t come in at all. I really don’t want to have to do this, but I lose so much time and energy on here, I think I have to.
-MontgomeryGurl
*sniff*
Ebith- HOW DO I CONTACT HER AND HOW DO YOU KNOW HOW TO CONTACT HER?
Why does she haver to leave? Am I missing something?
20- see comment 17, it will explain ALOT!
19-Are you on nationstates? I can’t give out info on the blog, the GAPA will zap it. Telegram Darkness Mwahahahaha. Or find my xanga, it’s not that hard. (she says with smugness and pride in her own stalking skills. lol jk)
20-she’s choosing to.
whats nationstates?
I think is kind of lesson for us, though. Like, let’s try and keep the blog a place where everyone feels happy, respected, and the conversations are interesting and meaningful.
Basicly, think before you post.
MG, if you like dogs, theres a dog site you can find by typing furry paws on google. I’m Copper over there
Heres what I put on the May thread part two, in case you don’t go there, MG.
Oh no, MG! You’re one of the most famoustest of musebloggers!
I’m going to miss you. And I do mean that. You always have interesting, progressive things to say. I’m really sorry that it isn’t as good as it used to be. Please come back and check in us sometimes.
Wow. I’m sorry, MG.
It was nice talking to you. I won’t say “stay” because that’s your choice and that’s what you want. But yeah, come back sometime. Even if you just lurk.
Skipper Nancy, we have to shape up. We have to make the blog the way it used to be. Lets start on the History thread and then move tot he rest of the blog. Lets NOT have 4 convos going at once.
Definately (#27).
Whoever goes on the museblog needs to READ OTHER PEOPLE”S COMMENTS and respond. You can share some of your news, but relate it to the current conversatioin.
There are enough MuseBloggers now so that the blog can support many threads at once, and Rosanne and I will be delighted to create new ones to keep general-purpose areas such as the monthly random threads from getting too cluttered and confusing. Just let us know what you need.
There’s room for both seriousness and silliness, I think. Sometimes after an intense discussion, you really need to unwind with something like a pie war. So we don’t need to be too earnest all the time.
Don’t spam this thread. MG deserves batter than that.
Let me lecture.
Posts are not one liners, or one word. Posts are not a smiley face. Put thought into it. This isn’t a chat room.
I’m a bit of an elitist, I apologize for offending anyone, but I’m truly sick of seeing one line posts that contribute nothing to anyone. Double posting is irk-some as well.
I’ve seen the blog through the ages so to speak- I remember when MG was first around. -sighs- We’ve lost one of our best.
MG- I said before, I agree wit you so much, and I will miss you sorely. You were probably the one person on here who wasn’t liberal and defended your values resolutely.
Good luck to all you do!
Now, back to lurking.
(29) So as to not sound too harsh, I mean the above for th non silliness threads. Like Hot Topics or Poems and Songs. I understand the random threads are random, and I’m fine with it.
-more lurking-
I suppose MontgomeryGurl hath left us by nowe. Marry, I will misse her virtual witte and inteligense. The blogge shall not bee the sayme without her. Methinks we can all learn a lesson from oure beloved MontgomeryGurl, who was with us for such a woefuly shorte time. We, the people, will nowe pause in a moment of silense and reverense and ignor the facte that my brothere is playing the exstended version of “Numa Numa” onn the computer. Loudley.
(27) Wait, I’m not sure if that was critism or suggestion, but either way, I agree. I also agree with 29. I think it’s basically what I put on the Advice thread: Think before you post.
I guess, in a way, we should thank MG for waking us all up.
Thanks for keeping us in check, MG, even though you have to go! We will always remember you as
“the mother of the 5th generationers”
and
“the museblogger who saved the museblog”
And thanks for being such a froody person in general, too.
Well, I still love the museblog no matter what. You peoples all rock!
Ok, those who want to act on 27, put in your hand
*Puts in hand*
MG- you have taught me a valuble lesson. I shall no longer make up bougus posts like
:arrow:sf;oidsacg; odfngukfdgl jfdskgfhdnfvjk fdg jkdhv ghbvfiuhjipteh
or posts with only a sentance/1 word, or only a smiiley face.
as Skipper Nancy says, we should think before we post.
28+27, I TOTTALY agree with you guys.
MG- we will never forget you!
this is on the poetry thread also, but she’s probably not gonna go on it, so it is here
A Haiku for MG
MontgomeryGurl
A one of a kind blogger
will be sorely missed
Well, this is my goodbye post. *sighs and wipes tears from eyes* Just a few points to cover.
First, this thread is truly touching. Thank you all. Thanks MAPs for making me a thread, it was way more than I expected. It’s been a good ride. I’m going to miss all of you. In some ways I can’t believe it’s really been seven whole months, and in others it seems like all that has happened can’t possibly have fit into that short of a time period. I am sorry to be going, but for the reasons I previously mentioned I feel I must.
Lizzie, Phoenix, Queenie J, E~A, and Axa (I would include Ebeth, but I’m not losing contact with her): I’m going to miss you five most of all. You are some of the most intelligent, interesting, and funny people I have ever had the privilege of “meeting”. I loved hanging out with you and blogging with you. I’m going to miss everyone, but especially y’all. It was so much fun back in the old days when I first came here. Thanks for being my friends.
Upon reading that goodbye post I made, I realized that the part about religion and such might come across a bit harsh. I don’t mind y’all disagreeing with me on a lot of issues. I don’t mind y’all stating your opinions, and us having open discussion and debate about it. But it seems like it’s gotten to the point where there is no debate. It seems that people just throw out comments, and I’m assaulted by remarks and I can not possibly refute or reply to (because of sheer volume of comments). I don’t mind at all healthy disagreement. Some of those discussions in the old “Hot Topics” threads used to really stretch me, make me wrap my head around issues, see my faith and beliefs from a different angle, hear what others were saying, and think logically through different things, and I really enjoyed them. But I haven’t seen much of that around here lately. I don’t mind you all haven’t different veiws than me, it’s just the way you’ve started to voice them that bugs me.
I’ve learned so much from all of you. You gave me a place to be insane. You people were who first introduced me to H2G2, and a ton of other things. I had a lot of fun with all of you, and I’ll miss this place.
I’ll probably stop in once a month or so, and say “hi” to the gang. Sometime in the future I might have the time and energy to come back here. I just can’t do it right now. Sorry about doing this. I wish you all the best. So long, and thanks for all the fish.
PSPOP, Monegomerygurl is only 4 syllables
SHE DIDNT MENTION MY HAIKU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*crys softly, cuz she worked real hard on it*
34- my hand is in. i already suggested a tread for that. see Wish Wish I May, Wish I Might: Part 3 thread
YES- SHE MIGHT COME BACK
I agree with #28. The Muse Blog is for conversations and interactions. That means you have to respond to other people’s coments. Randomness is okay, as long as it’s random thoughts of coments, not just words. Let’s keep things interesting, okay?
I don’t know you very well, MG, but I’ll miss you.
MG –
Y’know, I think I feel the same way. Certain things at Museblog have turned out to be ‘cool,’ among them being what you mentioned in your post (snide comments about religion and dissing on more conservative opinions). I know we feel differently about religion among other things, but I agree that this has turned Museblog into a rather unpleasant place to be sometimes.
I haven’t been around a lot lately, which is partly due to what I mentioned above, and partly because Museblog has gotten SO FAST. It’s all first post games and random posts now. There are so many more members and posts, I can hardly keep track of one thread, let alone the board.
This isn’t goodbye for good, because I don’t doubt I’ll check in once or twice over the summer, but I won’t be around much anymore. Museblog was fun while it lasted.
MontgomeryGurl is gone???????? Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember when I first came here, MG and Ebeth were the first ones to greet me on here… There weren’t many people back then… (last october to be exact…) We should clean this blog up a little… Make it more like the old days! This blog is like a messy room (such as mine). It’s okay if you have a few clothes all on the floor, but when you can’t actually see the floor, you know you’re in trouble. We need to clean this messy blog up a little! (just like i need to clean my room)
and my hand is IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ebeth, would you pm me from the katreh board if that is still going on how to maintain contact with MG? PLEASE?????
guys, remember that this is our doing. are we going to try & restore order here, or are we going to let this happen again?
we hav got to get her bak.
is anyone else with me?
(please say yes, especially Ebith ‘cuz you know how to contact her)
no…*snibble*
We will all miss you so much, MG.
*sniffsobsigh*
46: we shouldn’t MAKE montgomerygurl come back. maybe if we shape up the blog, she’ll be lurking one day and decide to come back, because it’s better.
(46) No, I mean, I’m sad she left, but it was her choice and we should just respect that. She said she might check in sometimes. If she wants to come back, she will.
Sometimes you just have to give people the time and space they need.
wait.
wut happened to her
didnt she write that letter in muse??
MG, I’m really sorry if I ever did anything to hurt your feelings. I know I never really talked to you, and I know I’ve probably ruined the blog even more by adding to the newbie population that is overpowering the oldbie population, but it’s kinda sad to see you go. I will miss your stalker-ish ways.
I think that we really ought to let her go, but we can make the blog better. Maybe she’ll be back someday, and the MuseBlog will rejoice in seeing her Evil and Psychotic ways once more.
Good Bye. Have fun to whatever websites you decide to go to. They’ll appreciate you there, I’m sure. Just don’t go to MySpace.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Please don’t go please!
I am touched that I am one of the people that you will miss most, MontgomeryGurl.
I definately agree that what used to be interesting, friendly discussion on the Hot Topics treads has disintegrated into people sharply throwing their views at each other and not thinking about what they mean. You may disagree with someone’s political and social views but that doesn’t mean they can still be an excellent person and a good friend. MontgomeryGurl, though I may not agree with her political views, has been a great friend and museblogger. I will miss her greatly.
We need to realize how to balance the randomness and the seriousness. We need to try to avoid having oneline or smileyface filled post. Lets try to make “first post” more of an afterthought, something to add to a post and not the focus of a post. Try to resist when you find yourself reverting back to posts with no meaning. Even in the random threads there should be at least some reason for the post’s existance; some point to what you have to say. Sometimes I have gotten so frustrated with some of the pointlessness that is here, I’ve almost decided to leave too.
But, though I rant about pointlessness, there is also still threads with amazing ideas. One I particularally like is the one about the muser-written muses. I think that is a fascinating idea. It is important to continue to give each other ideas, to entertain and support each other like a big family of musers. We can debate, laugh, cry and chat with each other.
Remember we are all musers here.
OEAD was the first one to greet me here… but anywoof
Lets get her back by making the blog better. Sure,t heres more people, but more people means more people to countribute.
I’ll sincerely miss you, MG!!! If I’ve posted anything offensive to you, I apologize! I hope to talk to you at a Muse convention someday!
MG probably won’t read this, but I agree about the blog being so busy. I read a lot of the posts, but then I have to get off the computer before I can post anything (tonight being an exception).
I’ve been gone for so long, it’s sad. sory your leaving. however, I have to ask, where are you going? I don’t have enough time at the moment to look back on things, sorry. Well miss you…
And I agree to wiht 57 and what ever post MG talked about it. so long fore now,
thing thats taking up time is blasted homework. curse it.
MG, I didn’t know you very well, but I’ll miss you! I hope I never posted anything to offend you. I don’t think I did, but I may have accidentally…
You do have a point, it’s awfully hard to follow a lot of things, and nobody ever really responds to anybody else’s posts, or even reads many of them. It’s too bad, but I’m actually used to it as a newbie…
It would be nice if you would check in even just occasionally…
I’ll miss ya!
Heya King George! I was beginning to wonder where you gotten to (mwahahahaha stalkstalkstalk).
To get the explanation of her leaving click the Namárië link at the top of the page or read post 17.
It’s really sad, but it’s tought us all a good lesson. If we ever write a history of the Museblog, MG should deffinately have a chapter to herself.
Goodby MG. I will miss you very much. “Talking” to you has been great, it’s been very refreshing to ‘meet’ someone with different views and opinions. I do agree that the blog is getting hectic. I have a very hard time keeping up, which is why I never post as often as l used to.
Goodby once again. You were a great contributer to the blog and we will all miss you.
I don’t supose we could be allowed to have a thread just for certain generations, to make it more like the old days?
63- I had that same idea! for example a gen 0-2 thread, a gen 0-4 thread and then an gen 0-5 thread. Only post in one if you are with in the range.
That’s a good idea!!! GAPA?? Please? Note the l.
Sayeth MG, and i qvote-
MG: I’m missing the MB

Qvoted w/permission.
Kricket, i think katreh is pretty much dead as an RPG, but i’ll pm you…
that was very sad…refering to mg’s speach. I think we should all plan to either read all new posts and reply to all, or leave…this is a sad revolution
and as for feeling sorry for people, I personally feel sorry for the halibuts. poor poor halibuts, getting smacked on heads all the time, and being kept out of the water. this blog is getting depressing. must go to other place.
I havesomething on this computor that I need, but I’m afraid I might have lost it when it went BOOM a while ago. oh boy, I’m sure going to enjoy searching for it. not to mention redoing it when I don’t find it
toodles.
acctually, just plain goodbye
when I said blog, I meant other thread, not blog literally
I found the document!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now I don’t have to retype it.
Monty! Don’t go! We want you to stay!
Even though we didn’t always agree with you, I think you were a valuable contributor to the Museblog community. We’ll remember you, and if you can come back we will welcome you with open arms. You are being commanded to read all of H2G2, listen to as much of the radio series as you can (every moment of listening to that work of genius is pure joy) and have as much fun as you can possibly imagine. I will miss you more than you know, and I’m glad I’m one of the people you will miss most.
So long and thanks for all the fish.
Goodbye, MG. I don’t believe there’s anyone on the blog who won’t miss you. While we’ve often disagreed (sometimes vocally,) I truly enjoyed our arguments. Because I live in a very secular liberal area, I didn’t really understand what more conservative people meant. You helped me to realise that there’s an argument for everything, and you can still be friends with someone you disagree with. (Oh no, I’m getting sappy… although the occasion does deserve it.)
Everyone else, please take MG’s parting words to heart. Try to continue conversations and put some meaning into your posts. Don’t insult other people, even if you don’t agree with them. Attempt to have intelligent conversations and really think about what you post before you post it. (This means no pointless ‘omg furst poooooost!!!11!!!1!’-ing.) And don’t bombard poor Ebeth with demands for how to contact MG. Maybe then she’ll come back… *sniffle* (And I’m getting sappy again…)
MG, if you’re reading this, please know that I’m really going to miss your presence on the blog. To quote many people so far: “So long, and thanks for all the fish.” They are metaphorical in this instance.
Zai jian.
Montgomerygurl is leaving?!? *sob* How will the blog be the same without our old pal MG?
The socialy correct, politicaly aware, debate-savvy person we know and love has passed on.
Mayim rabim lo yochlu l’chavot et ha’ahava

See ya at the annual pumpkin drop, MG! We love you!
–Phoenix
ok thanx ebeth…
MG was the person that showed me MuseBlog! She can’t go away!
Hope you’ll be back some day.
Heres a good time to implement my theme song….
Ooh, and it’s alright an it’s coming on
We gotta get right back to where we started from
Love is good, love can be strong
We gotta get right back to where we started from
Do you remember the day (that sunny day)
When you first came my way
I said, no one could take your place
And if you get hurt (if you get hurt)
By the little things I say
I can put that smile back on your face
Ooh, and it’s alright and it’s coming on
We gotta get right back to where we started from
Love is good, love can be strong
We gotta get right back to where we started from
A love like ours (a love like ours)
Can never fade away
You know it’s only just begun
You give me your love (give me your love)
I just can’t stay away, no, no
I know you are the only one
Ooh, and it’s alright and it’s coming on
We gotta get right back to where we started from
Love is good, love can be strong
We gotta get right back to where we started from
You give me your love (give me your love)
I just can’t stay away, no
I know you are the only one
Ooh, you know it’s alright and it’s coming on
We gotta get right back to where we started from
Love is good, love can be strong
We gotta get right back to where we started from
It’s alright and it’s coming on
We gotta get right back to where we started from
Love is good, love can be strong
We gotta get right back to where we started from
It’s alright and it’s coming on
We gotta get right back to where we started from
Love is good, love can be strong
We gotta get right back to where we started from
How does this apply to us? Museblog is a family. We have to get back to where we started, which is a tight-knit community that stays on topic.
MG: How is everyone on MB?
Me: pretty good
MG: are people reading other people’s comments, and responding?
Me: mmmmm
more than before
but we’re slacking off a bit
like there was this huge reform after you left
but it’s kinda falling apart a bit now
MG: Go wip those people into shape
Me: haha
*salutes* Yessir!
MG: Tell them that they’ll lose people if they don’t start shaping up
That it’s got to be something they do all the time, not just right after I left
Me: *salutes* Yessir!
4:25 PM
MG: Tell them that MG said read posts and respond
And if they don’t do it I’m never ever ever going to come back and evilly and psychotically stalk them again.
A recent conversation between me and MG Please listen to what we have to say:
Me: something that really buggs me about people on the Muse blog is when they don’t argue friendly like about politics and instead say things like “I hate bush” it is silly. I may not agree with bush’s opinions but at least I respect them
Me: I mean we are all different and we can’t all agree all the time
Me: so why say you hate someone when you just disagreee?
Me: I happen to disagree with bush’s opinions but I don’t hate him. I’m sure he is a perfectly nice person
MG: yeah
MG: I agree with you
MG: I disagree with the politics and some opinions of a lot of my friends.
Me: yeah I disagree with some of your political opinions but you are a great friend so why let politics stand in the way of friendship?
MG: yeah
So long and thanks for all the fish
So sad that it should come to this
We tried to warn you all but oh dear?
You may not share our intellect
Which might explain your disrespect
For all the natural wonders that
grow around you
So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish
The world’s about to be destroyed
There’s no point getting all annoyed
Lie back and let the planet dissolve around you…
*bows* *is pied*
These are some rules/guidelines from MG and I:
MG: People should only post when they have something to say
MG: Read the last 10 or 15 posts in a thread before responding
Me: we should give those as rules/guidelines!
MG: Yesss
MG: Post them
MG: and ask the GAPAs to say something about it
Me: okay
MG: If not in the rules, in the HG2MB
Can ANYBODY go on Furry Paws? Thats where you can talk to me. After that comment in my bad day thread by that lurker, I’m leaving.
‘Bye, MG. But don’t think that I won’t be able to find you.
Okay, so maybe I won’t. So again:
So, Robert, what do you think about MG’s suggestion that we add two new items to The Rules or HG2MB:
-Read the last 10 or 15 posts in a thread before responding
-Post only when you have something to say
?
(See elassë~adael’s comment #79.)
Seems like a fine idea to me — though we’d have to make exceptions for threads like “Smiley Practice” and “Triangular Sentences and Other Typographical Tricks.” It’s not possible to have “something to say” about them but they’re good anyhow.
You know, I find all these people saying, “Yeah, we need to really stay on topic like we did at the beginning of the museblog” kind of funny. I remember when, one of the first threads, we had gotten off topic and Robert was like “hey, this is kind of off topic” and we were all like “WELL, WE LIKE IT THAT WAY RAWR”. My point being, don’t say that we need to stay on topic like we used to because we never did. And that was what a lot of people liked about it- it was like a real conversation. Of course, real conversations don’t change topics after every post/ every time someone talks, which has been going on here lately…

84- I don’t mean that we “NEED TO STAY ON TOPIC BECAUSE OMG WE WILL DIEEEEE IF WE DON”T” I just mean we should mainly keep our conversations flowing with some sort of point like non internet conversations do. with the exeption of smiley practice like threads of course.
I’m not sure more rules are the answer, though–especially when there would have to be so many exceptions.
*highfives Lizzie*
yeah but it would be nice if we could get everyone to figure out what the general subject of conversation on the thread is before they post. sometimes not reading a thread can lead to people being upset. also though randomness is good, it is very annoying to find threads filled with pointlessness. Muse blog is a place for a group of friends to hang out and chat. Randomness has its place, yet so does order. We need to balance the two.
Righto. I’ve added this rule to the list:
If a discussion is in progress, please don’t interrupt it with an unrelated random post. Before posting, read the last 10 or 15 comments to make sure that you understand what is going on.
I think it makes the point without being too stuffy. Sound good to you?
Sounds good to me. I bow to your mad GAPA skillz.
See, off-topic isn’t the problem. The problem is we’re not reading and we’re not spending enough time on our posts. Like this one for example. This one is going to end very shortly. But then it’s late. And i’ve been being nice to people all evening. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. It’s just that a perpetual state of cheerful smiling helpfulness really gets on your nerves after a while. Luckily i was balcony, and there wasn’t too much of that to do. (If anybody’s hopelessly confused, you haven’t been reading other posts. J’accuse! Ah well, i forgive you seeing as i only mentioned it mebbe once. I think. If at all. I was ushering for guys+dolls. High skool musical. Twas pretty sweet btw. Anyway.) The end.
what if you are responding to an earier post which isn’t the current topic of conversation?
Sounds very good. And can we ban pointless ‘first post’ posts, where all they say is ‘first post?’ It’s fine to try and get the first post, but at least have somehting to say if you do.
Exactly. Disjointed posting is not the same thing as random posting.
-cheers and leaves-
Penty (93),
I don’t think they do any harm, and as a GAPA, I’d rather not have to do too much policing. Maybe that sort of thing is best left to peer pressure and a judicious application of pies.
*pies everyone who posts only to say “first post” or something like that*
Thank you, Robert, for adding that rule! Keep GAPA-ing!
90- GENIUS! im mean really cool. i cant keep on missing days…
gapas- i was just reading comments 65, 76, 77, 79, and i think we should ha\ve a thread for ebith and elassë~adael to post there conversations with MG on
63 + 64- NOOOOOOOOOOOOO please dont do that, or i will start slapping myself with more halibuts AND leave. FOREVER!
They can post their conversations here if they like. There’s plenty of room.
I like salmon. I don’t like halibuts.
Voon.
is the so long and thanks for all the fish song why people were hitting themselves on the head with fish?
what I do regarding reading previous posts, is I scroll down to the very bottom of the page, then I scroll up and find the most recent post I posted. Then, I read all the posts posted since I was on. Therefore, I end up pretty much reading every post.
102: that works unless you’re a lurker.
I’m late, I know, but here it is: Phoebe’s farewell.
I remember a long, long, time ago, when I came back from summer break, checked up on my beloved Gaboomba, and discovered the Museblog in it’s place. MontgomeryGurl and Ebeth were the first Musebloggers to join the Gamboomba members. The first Hot Topics thread was where I realy got to virtually know you; I think it was a heated debate about the president, than gas prices, and than, the origin of the Universe. I don’t think we really liked each other, but you really taught me how to debate properly, and you brought up points I’d never considered before. I left with the first big wave of new Bloggers, and I was surprised when a Blogging friend told me you had held on so long before finally giving up. I’m sorry you’ve been driven to this, and I really think it would be cool if Jupiter was made out of Pandas. Kidding.
Phoebe
101- NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
102- ur weird!
Okay, time for my rant. I’ve actually been thinking about this for a while, but I wasn’t sure if it would make things worse or better, so I held off. But to be frank, I don’t care anymore. Okay, two-part rant.
What has been bugging me, what Emogrl posted in her blog about (sorry for dragging you into this), maybe part of why MG left, is that the atmosphere of the MuseBlog has changed, and people have started, I don’t know how to put this, being immature and mean and self-aggrandizing. Sure, it was never a 100%-in-happy-harmony place (read some of the old Hot Topic threads for the definition of “heated debate”), sure, there were tons of disagreements, sure, sometimes people feuded for a while (Grant O. and Phoenix (? Started with a P, I believe.. Maybe Phoebe?)) and their argument over the H.P. boards come to mind), but, frankly, this kind of “u sux I pwn all of u” kind of thing never happened. Also, the whole “OMG u guys are pathetic what a bunch of nerds” thing is pointless. To quote that guy from Gone with the Wind, “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn” about how high you rank on your school’s social ladder. I mean, that’s interesting to discuss for a while, to see how the different schools relate to different types of people, but when it gets into the whole “Ooh, I’m number 34 on my school’s social ranking and you’re number 1035253 haha loser you suck at life” there isn’t any reason for that kind of stuff. Repeat after me, folks, this bit of dogma that we’ve all been making fun of from the minute it first arrived:WE’RE ALL MUSERS HERE. We’re all musers. We all read muse. The reason that this web-page first existed was to celebrate the wonder of it. We have differences, sure, and I don’t think everyone should now be all sickly sweet to each other, but get that bit of news into your head, hit yourself on the head with halibuts until it sinks in, this is not a place to make fun of other people. This is a place to rant, expound, debate, converse, etc. That does not include running around making pointless comments to get first post, get your name to be the only thing in the comment list on the side, whatever. Pie wars are one thing; disrespecting the other musers here is another. Yes, we’re weird, we’re nerds, we’re geeks, whatever. Does it matter? No. Save the “ooh, you don’t wear preppy jeans/you do wear preppy jeans LOSER” stuff for school and the little social cliques that go on there. This also ties into the immaturity thing a lot of people have been talking about: Friends, I have a revelation for you. NOBODY WANTS TO READ A POST FULL OF EMOTICONS. (Also, I don’t know about the rest of you, but I get really tired of reading posts that say “OMG he looked my way today I’m in love omg omg how can I make him like me?” and then begging posts after every other post after that saying “Too bad your terrier died but how can I make him love me?!??” I mean, I guess the MB is here for talking about the important stuff in your day, and if that’s so important to you, then fine, but at least have the restraint to let the rest of us talk about something other than who likes whom occasionally..) No one wants to read four posts in a row where all they say is “FIRST POST PWEASE??? PWEASE??” What does it matter if you get the first post, the last post, the 42 post, the 674 post? The point of posting is to share ideas, dreams, hopes, etc and learn what other people think about anything and everything. When so many substance-free posts are posted, that point disappears, and makes it much harder for the rest of us who actually have thoughts in our pretty little heads. And if you don’t have anything to say, shut up. It isn’t actually necessary to post a comment every ten minutes. People will still know who you are, don’t worry- we don’t have that short memories, you can take a break for a little while. That, in retrospect, was partly what was so nice about the Gaboomba- three weeks could go by without anyone posting anything, so nobody felt like they had to make a post, quick, before there’s 600 new posts, and so people actually took the time to think about what they were saying, to make (in general) long posts, etc. Also, news flash, people: It isn’t actually important to get to part 500 on the monthly thread. It’s more fun if you go on the museblog and actually find something, a conversation, a post, whatever worth reading than if you go on and find, oh joy, part 4’s up and part three is entirely filled with “Come on, we need to post so we can get part 4!” and posts with one letter in them and ones where all they say is “RANDOMNESS!!!11!” I mean, what’s the point? And then, maybe if people 1. stopped posting content-free posts so no one can find the ones that actually say something, and 2. actually read other people’s posts and replied to them and then in the same post posted something of their own, IF they actually had anything to say in return to the other people/something to tell the museblog/go on about, then maybe people would stop having to complain, “Hey, why isn’t anyone replying to me WAH MY LIFE IS A PIT OF ENDLESS ANGST!!!!” Strange idea, no? And if someone doesn’t reply to your post, don’t feel like you have to go all defensive and “DIDN”T ANYONE SEE MY POST WELL WELL? MAYBE I”LL JUST LEAVE SINCE YOU ALL OBVIOUSLY HATE ME SINCE IT”S BEEN FIVE MINUTES AND NO ONE”S REPLIED”
To sum this part of the rant up: Don’t feed the trolls. Don’t attack people personally. It’s fine to disagree with someone’s ideas, but attack the ideas and their validity, not the person: Just because a person likes Bush doesn’t mean they’re a heartless baby eater. Just because someone’s a Democrat doesn’t mean they’re wishy-washy. Nerds and geeks are cool people too. And don’t just post for the sake of posting; post because you have something to say.
Okay, part two of my rant: GRAMMAR IS HERE FOR A REASON. There is an advantage to using good spelling, good grammar, good writing skills- for one thing, it makes it a lot easier for people to understand you (and people don’t get disgusted by the number of misspelled words and give up halfway through) and for another, it doesn’t make you sound like a brainless ditz. That’s another advantage the Gaboomba had- since it was email based, people could run spellcheck. You still can, though. Just open up a word processing document, email, whatever, write your post in there or paste it into it, spell check, and then post. Believe me, it makes it so much easier to follow. Wat’s the point haveing prufend edias if u dont bother to wr8te dem in away that ppl want/can to reed? SPELLING IS GOOD. Using bad spelling, bad grammar, etc, just takes away from whatever point you’re making, makes you seem less intelligent, makes people less likely to read it, and no, does not make you seem “cool”. N3tsp33k is also pointless- “you” is only two letters longer than “u”; “to” is one letter longer than “2” and takes less time to type since you don’t have to reach up to the top of your keyboard. If you don’t know the difference between “their”, “they’re”, and “there”, or “you’re” and “your” or “its” and “it’s” or whatever, ask an English teacher. Don’t use bad grammar just for the hell of it- does it really take that much more effort to type correctly? Do you really want to start thinking that what you see some four-year-old type online is how English should be spoken? Why do you expect people to think about what you’re saying if you didn’t even present it in a form in which they can understand it?
(also, Posts in all-caps are bad. It’s called flaming. I know, I’m a hypocrite. Web manners, people.) So, to sum this part up: Speak proper English, please.
Disclaimer: this rant is not directed at the vast majority of you. It isn’t directed at any particular person, any particular group (e.g. generation 3ers or newbies or whatever), or any particular age level. Most of the musers here are great people whom I’m proud to have met. It’s just that occasionally, something pushes one of my buttons. And this rant is the result of the button-pushing that has been building up for a while. Yes, I know, I’m hopelessly hypocritic. I do a lot of the things I was ranting about in this. But anyway, this is how I feel.
-106 I agree. A lot of the times, when I look at a thread, I scroll up, read what I haven’t read but sometimes *gasp* I DON’T feel that urge to reply! Oh no! basically, I only reply when I have something IMPORTANT to say.
106- HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO TYPE THAT??????????
i agree with u!
108- about 45 minutes, why?
Of course, that counts thinking of what to say and how to say it too..
(I win at the “Long thoughtful post” contest. Totally. )
106- i totally said that on one of the power threads
109- because it was LONG and if you are like me, you probably: do it, not be happy with it, totally change it, still not be happy, and change it some more. Are you a fast typer?
Ok. I have read EVERYTHING on this thread. i am a new Muse logger. i wondered how everyone had the time and commitment to read so much posts and write so often. Then i found out some say it used to be different. Maybe it was, maybe it was not. Well i think we all should read this thread and understand why MontgomeryGurl quit and DON”T DO IT! i know for one that i understand that this is not a chatroom and i will stop posting things that are not really contributing to the subject. i hope new bloggers read this thread like i have done and understand what not to do here what the GAPA has done is good but i don’t know if it will keep new bloggers from being stupid. it did not keep me from posting things that were a bit unrelated.
Welll, i have read almost everysingle response to this thread and this is all i can say: It is really sad that MG is leaving, because last night, i was up when i shouldn’t have been, and i was reading muse. The March 2006 issue. And in that issue there is a muse mail letter from none other than MG, and it says (generaly) go on musefanpage.com it is AWSOME! and so here i am. and what do i see at the bottom of the page of threads? a thread called “goodbye montegomerygurl” wahhhhhhhhhh!!! i can really understand why your leaving, though. And with all the reasons you’ve given, it seems like it was probably a really good choice. I think people should keep it friendly in here and stay on topic. I really do. I am new to this, but that is what i think.
kitty. thats where i heard about it also. hm… my experence was really simular to yours in fact. we just have to keep reminding people not to when they do unrelated stuff or are mean. Maybe MG just grew up a lot, we would not really know, being new bloggers.
