Ahoy! Are you new to MuseBlog? Don’t just wonder around bumping into people and breaking things. Come in here, where our cheerful welcoming committee will pie you fill you with pie and bloggerly wisdom. Come on in!
For starters, we recommend that newcomers (that’s what “neophytes” means) look over The Rules and The HG2MB (Hitchhiker’s Guide to MuseBlog).
Next, if you’re so minded, stop by Who’s Here (see the menu at the top of your screen) and announce your arrival in a comment there, so we’ll be sure to add you to the official list.
MuseBlog Veterans: Please use this thread only to welcome newcomers as they arrive and answer questions that they ask.
Welcome, all ye neophytes! Thou shalt findeth that MuseBlog is marvelous!
*pieth neophytes*
SFTDP
I hope I don’t scare anyone with that.
You probably will, they are, after all only neophytes and have almost know idea of what goes on here.
Welcome, all ye neophytes! Thou shalt findeth that MuseBlog is very awesometh! *Has stolen Enceladus’ idea**Recieves pie in the head and neck area*
Hey! I am a neophyte and I have been on the other site for quite a while. I also get Muse (well duh, otherwise I wouldn’t be here) and I know how to dodge pies and all that other stuff Musers should know. Plus I have been a silent observer since waaaaaaaay back. ( Well okay, yesterday.)
What other site? Do you mean the Chatterbox?
No, the other Muse website, at http://www.musemagkids.com. There is a link to the blog there. That, my friends is how I got here in the first place!
Welcome, Neophytes!
Why does it say that “my musing is awaiting moderation”?
Your post won’t be able to be viewed by everyone immediately… To ensure the safety of all the musers here, the administrators – most often called GAPA – preview every post and moderate to make sure nothing and nobody nasty gets on the site.
-A
Actually, everybody but gradster calls ’em “the GAPAs“. Gradster just things the “s” in administrators falls under the “A” in the acronym, while everybody (or most everybody, their may be a few other weirdos–sorry, gradster
–out there) else adds it on the end.
GAPA: Great and Powerful Administrator
*thinks, not “things”–I don’t know why I keep typing “g” instead of “k”, but I feel like I’ve been doing it rathe a lot in words such as “think”.
It’s correct.
You guys complain about chatspeak. I complain about you guys. The chatspeakers complain about me. Such is the circle of life.
……
-A
You have your opinion on the matter, I have mine. I don’t know that anybody can say either one is truly correct.
And your circle of life doesn’t make a circle, as far as I can tell:
Usâžœchatspeakersâžœyouâžœus
Oh, wait, nevermind. It does. I’m an idiot.
Since when do you complain about all of us? I seem to recall a very enthusiastic greeting on your part when I returned to the ‘blog after summer…..
*blows whistle* This conversation is being cited for Improper Use of Thread.
But as long as I’m here: all the usage guides I’ve seen state that acronyms and initialisms that are used as words in the singular should add an “s” for the plural for the sake of clarity (examples: RBIs,* MREs*, SATs, URLs).
*Yes, these are technically plurals — “runs brought in” and “meals ready to eat”– but they are used in a singular sense.
My apologies. I tend to get a bit carried away, at times.
((
Sorry, gradster. Looks like the “s” wins out.
))
My friend should be on here any minute now…DON’T scare her off, Enceladus! She isn’t exactly used to our….err…Muse-ish ways yet.
I don’t know if anyone would be scared by a couple of pies and bunnies…. Sounds quite welcoming to me. What’s scary is when someone finds out that the pies are coming at his/her face, and the bunnies are planning to take over the world, but they don’t need to know about that yet.
Oops.
Anyway, early welcome for soccer starr’s friend!
Welcome, soccer starr’s friend! (soccer starr. Go to the thread that wishes to take over the world.)
What thread that wishes to take over the world? I want to go there, too!
Hi! Yes I’m soccer starr’s friend. (Sorry soccer starr I know that you said to get on earlier but I was busy then so I’m posting now.) I don’t get Muse but I’ve read it at the library and stuff so I guess that kinda counts, and my sister gets Cricket. I don’t really know if I’m supposed to tell you about myself or what but I live in NJ (Are we allowed to say where we live? Or is that too specific?) and I love Percy Jackson, peanut butter, and being dramatic. Oh yeah, and I have three sisters and one brother who are all older than me which stinks (WHY did I have to be the youngest? WHY? WHY?) OK that looks like I a very strange post but I guess I’ll post it anyway.
I like Percy Jackson too! All you really have to do on this thread is get situated, ask any questions you might have, and then venture you can forth into the wilderness and fend for yourself on the blog, so to speak. Also, be aware that it is appreciated if you write properly, so if you aren’t already, get used to using correct grammar, punctuation and whatnot, or else you will be torn apart by annoyed MBers. Whatever you do, do NOT chatspeak!

)
*welcome pies*
(And get used to lots of those
Oops, I meant

Whole Foods has awesome peanut butter, by the way.
You’re allowed to say the state you live in, if you so choose. You can read all about it on the Rules Page. (click on the bar on the top–sorry, I don’t know how to do links to other MB pages.)

Welcome!!
We’re at the same house right now!
Soccer starr: Does this count as a Kokon since we’ve known each other before? I’m not sure if it does, but I guess it should count at least a little…anyway,
Bubbles: Drama queen and I both LOVE Percy Jackson. It’s a HUGE part of our life!
Drama queen: Yeah, when she says HUGE she means HUGE. We’re obsessed expecially with the movie.
Soccer starr: Um, Drama queen? It’s especially not expecially.
Drama queen:
I’m not good at spelling. I should have probably mentioned that before. Spell check is my savour! (I mean savior, ha ha!)
Welcome, Drama queen!
WELCOME DRAMA QUEEN! I don’t get Muse either, so you aren’t the only one! I used to. WELCOME TO MUSE BLOG!
But you didn’t like Muse…
I LOVED it, but I don’t get it any more, thanks to the parents.

Anyway, welcome, DRAMA QUEEN!

And could you and (cb) please change your names? This is getting confusing.
Alter Ego alert.
Yeah, I just noticed that. Who is it, I wonder?
HELLO, DRAMA QUEEN! WELCOME TO MUSEBLOG!
WHY ARE WE YELLING AT THE NEOPHYTES?
Welcome, Drama Queen.

Welcome, Drama Queen*. Do you enjoy acting, or is the drama you’re talking about superficial drama that happens at dances?
*To give the caps lock button a rest.
Um, kind of both I guess. I do acting and stuff but I’m also just a naturally dramatic person.
Oh look! It’s that time again! My bi-monthly post! And also a great time to welcome
n00bsNeophytes. So, welcome to our humble/not so humble blog! We here at MuseBlog pride ourselves on our humbleness. In fact, we are so amazingly humble that even king bow to us. We’re just that great! Any-hoo, it’s good to see another generation of bloggers come along. Which reminds me….I seem to be approaching my 2-year mark. But:How to Survive in the
RunescapeMuseBlog Wilderness!
1. Be a good boy/girl. That means no swearing, no offensive *BUNNIES!* and no crashing into trees in your daddy’s Lambo.
2. Jeez. “No no no no no.” Who am I turning into? Now, how about some “Yes yes yes yes yes”?
3. Do: Have fun (daaauuhh.)
4. Do: Be nice, obey the rules and *BUNNIES!* What the? I’ll really have to call the exterminator tomorrow.
5. Do: This just goes on and on and on, huh? Well, Eragon out.
WELCOME, ALL NEOPHYTES! I HOPE I’M NOT
ACTUALLY AS SEVERE AS I THINK I AM!
I havent posted for so long—not since there was Museblog2
So I’m calling myself a neophyte to Museblog2, because I pretty much know NOTHING about Museblog. So, hi Musers?
Hi, tangerine!! Welcome to MuseBlog!
Hi Tangerine! Welcome ( back ) to MuseBlog!
Hello people of muse! I’m kiwimuncher’s friend and she’s been pestering me to get on here for the last eternity or more, so I figure I better do it. I’m kind of new to the muse world, I don’t get the magazines, but I borrow them from kiwimuncher and I have been on here a few times, and ya’ll seem like cool people. Umm, I guess since Drama Queen told ya’ll a little about her, I better do the same. I’m from North Carolina and I have lived here all my life. I love animals, little kids, fun people, music and spending time outside on pretty days. I have always wanted to be (don’t laugh) a cowgirl, even though I don’t think that’s an official job. Okay, well that’s it! I’m going to go read kiwimuncher and Alice’s LOOOOOONNNGGGG story called Sea Roc, about….actually I don’t know, that’s why i’m going to read it. *waves bye*
Welcome, Lep! (I think I’ll call you that.)

We can’t call her that. A lep is a ball.
Welcome, CLL.
PLEASE stay!!!
Welcome! I am Ducky, the crazed grammar freak who likes banana cream pies!
If you would like to change the sickly looking square representing you, you can go to
(welcome pie!)
gravatar . com (without the spaces)
Just a suggestion, I had a constipated square…
Well, if you neophytes insist on detailing your origins, I suppose we could try to do that as well.
I live in Illinois, where the land is flat and the lake is big. I take a particular interest in microbiology, imported chocolate, genetics, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, mythology, medium format photography and (recently) pretending to be a tourist in my own city. (The cost of a boat tour on the Chicago river is outrageous, by the way)
Welcome to the blog, Lep!
Hmm, that sounds too much like “leprosy” and “leper” for my taste. I’ll just call you Leprechaun, then.
Welcome, CrazyLoveableLeprechaun!

Hello my friend, CLL!
4 pies for you!
I was new last month….. Don’t worry, CLL and Drama Queen, someday you’ll be just as weird and crazy as the rest of us! *grins*
Oh, and you *should* know about the
….. or maybe it’s better if you were left without the burden of keeping the secret….. Eh, I’ll tell you. HPB’s want to take over the world. if you aren’t careful, they’ll takeover you! Unless you want to help the
on their evil mission, watch out for them!
One HPB proof bairrier comin’ right up!
*grabs shield out of reach* Give me that….. The others must supply their own
Like my new gravatar?
Very nice.
Does anyone know what “w00t” means in computer language? Aeiou told that to me (yes, I know, a Muse spoke to me!!) on the other Muse site after I told her I was her greatest fan.
Why did it just turn… face-ish? It was a cat, but now….
My sister has just been convinced to join MuseBlog! Panda Crazy is coming, watch out and be ready with pies!
Hey! I’m new!
I’m from Minnesota! I’m kind of crazy like all Minnesotans!
Welcome!
Welcome, Panda Crazy!

Or maybe you’ll hate it, and you’ll wan’t to team up with the
to destroy us all! *crazy laugh* Just kidding, you’ll love it on MB. Just ignore previously mentioned
scheme.
Hey, Panda Crazy! Welcome ta MuseBlog!
I have a friend from Minnesota, who is a little silly…

Maybe there’s something in your water supply…
Welcome pies!
Two things:
One, I am a little crazy (well OK, alot crazy) and I’m not even from Minnesota. I’m an Ohioan. Two, HOW DO YOU MAKE THOSE COOL FLYING PIES?!?!?!
To make the pies, type the following, but without spaces.
: arrow :
Also, if you go to the bar along the top of the page, their is a link to a page that tells you how to make all the different emoticons available on the ‘blog. Sorry…..too lazy to look up the URL right this moment. You will find that there is a positive correlation between age and laziness, thus I am more lazy than most everyone else on the blog.
And I’m ceasing to make sense, so perhaps I should seriously consider that nap I’ve been wanting to take ever since my alarm went off this morning….
Age and laziness…well, we GAPAs got you beat. But it would take too much effort to gloat.
Well, I said more lazy than most everyone. The “most everyone”, therefore based upon age having to mean the four GAPAs, EP, and the 2 or 3 other MBers who are older than I.
Although, I question that you GAPAs, despite being older than me, are actually lazier…….
You’d be amazed at the marvelous feats of laziness we could accomplish — especially if our jobs didn’t get in the way.
Like this?
YAY!!!

Welcome! Don’t be frightened by words of pies and evil bunnies….
**WELCOME PIES**
Welcome!
What the heck? Is it just me, or are all of the pie emoticons arrows, and the HPBs are lightbulbs?
Anyways, welcome Panda Crazy!
It would seem that the GAPAs’ updates caused the emoticons to revert to their original appearances. Back in days of old, HPBs were lightbulbs (hence the code of : idea : ), and in days not so long ago, pies didn’t exist, and we had
and
And it would also seem that as we speak the GAPAs are going through and re-upgrading the emoticons.
Well, I knew about the old emoticons and how they were changed, I just didn’t understand why these ones became the original ones again.
The new blogging software that we’ve just installed had the original set of smiley icons. We had to go into its guts and substitute our three modified ones. A few other tweaks like that may be needed to fix other things we’ve customized.
How do you make a smooshed pie?
Oh yeah! It’s like this:

Welcome, Panda Crazy!
Oh my gosh, I just thought it was my one friend from Minnesota… ( what’s the abbreviation? ) anyway, WELCOME TO MUSEBLOG AND HAVE LOTS OF FUN AND SOME WELCOME PIES! *pies virtually because bb46 does not know how to do a pie*

*Pseudo is telling bb how to do pie*
YAY!
Yo neophytes! If you see any , in this site, run from that thread some people might be bunnified.
(I forgot) hey

9- You´re almost two years old?!
23- Aren’t you a neopyhte?
I think his meaning was that he’s been on MB for nearly two years, not that he is almost two years old.
I know, I just didn’t really picture him as the elderly paleo type.
I think he means he’s been on the blog for almost 2 years, not that he is physically approaching 2 years of age….
I think 23 is an AE, although en my be a ‘phyte, as well.
He’s been on the Magic RPG for a while. I think he’s also a friend of SR.
He used to be Emoticon, I believe. He was at the kokon on Saturday.
I wonder what I count as. I’ve been here a while, but vanished, and then reappeared and then vanished for an even longer time, but now I’m back. A re-ophyte, perhaps?
Interesting. This is the second thread in a row upon which mine is comment number 25.
You count as a MuseBlogger. That is the only significant distinction as far as we’re concerned. Now please take this question somewhere else if you absolutely must. This thread is reserved for welcoming neophytes, not for analyzing nuances of the term.
A “re-ophyte!” That’s a good one! Anwyays, welcome back
welcome pies…heheheheheheheheh!!!
Hi! I still don’t know how to do a pie!!
: arrow : (
) and : ! : (
)without the spaces.
But how do you do those?!
Mango, you make a flying pie by typing the following, without spaces:
: arrow :
A non-flying pie:

If you are still confused, see the Smileys and Code Tricks Page.
I know how, guys! yay!

dont you think pie throwing is a good idea
25- This is my first post in months. I still consider myself a blogger!
Hey, trust kokopelli. You must have missed the announcement that avatars cannot contain recognizable human faces. You’ll have to change yours, I’m afraid.
You call that recognizable?! It’s half hidden in darkness and the glasses are hiding the eyes! I’ll have to pie you!
SPLAT!!!
It’s still recognizable as a human face, and the GAPAs haven’t said it’s ok.
It probably is recognizable to those who know him.
Yes, but those who know him have no need to stalk him…..
They might know him by sight but not know his identity.
But the larger point here is that we allow MBers’ pictures only with parental permission, and with avatars there is no way we could keep up with who does and doesn’t have permission. And you know eventually someone will come along and say “but you let trust kokopelli use his picture for an avatar.” Or we’ll get a string of variations on “does this count as sufficiently unrecognizable or not?” And so forth.
How would they know him by sight but not know his identity?…
But I do get your point. I just feel a bit like every time tk comes on here, the first thing anyone says to him is ‘change your avatar’. Maybe I’m just oversensitive. I get your point. *is repeating herself* *submits post*
For example, some of my old sketchbooks are full of faces from bus rides, cafés, theaters, and elsewhere. I could easily recognize them, but I had no idea who they are. Indeed, once an elderly couple I sketched at the National Gallery cafeteria in D.C. turned up a few days later at a shopping center in Alexandria.
Are we allowed to have famous people who are not us as avatars?
If they are blindingly obvious to GAPAs, which usually means they are too old to be confused with Musers.
For instance, I was given permission by the GAPAs (Robert, to be precise, I think) to use Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood in my avatar. Beavo has Daniel Radcliffe, presumably with permission.
i think not.
because people could get offended.
however i would quite like zac efron to be mine!

Welcome all ye neophytes, newbies, to mb2. I just went to gravatar. this is a test.
Hi everyone!
to all the neophytes!
As a help to neophytes and those who a bit older than neophytes but still not quite paleophytes, could someone please post a list describing all the points (wung, brain, spzdk, etc.) and how to get them? It would be of great help. Thanks!
*nods* Yes, I was wondering what those were.
Actually, I believe that the points system was disabled a while ago when people started randomly inventing points on the spot. It was chaos.
As for definitions, there is a Points Thread from a while back that may help.
Points are not that big of a deal. Every so often someone will award points to another muser for some reason or another. Se Daisy chain’s link.
Welcome, crazy friend of mine who is about to post!
welcome, lexaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

–
ps how are you on the computer.
I put in wrong e-mail.Sorry.
My picture was wrong.
Anyways where can I go to learn more about the new site and get caught up?
At the top of the page there’s a thing that says ” WHAT’S NEW ON MUSEBLOG 2″ That should tell you what you need to know.
At the top of the blog, below the title, the first link says “Getting used to MuseBlog 2” or something of the likes.
Well, for starters, there is the “What’s New in MuseBlog 2” tab at the top of the page, where I believe you can read about the updates.

Other than that, you can search for threads that might interest you on the Recent Comments bar on the right, or below that, you can find threads by category. Just look around and post!
Oh, and,
Alright, I changed my gravatar. I said I was gone for a few months, so of course I’ll miss some announcements. I hope we didn’t scare newbies. *pies newbies* ∆
Thanks, trust kokopelli. We appreciate it.
((We’re grammar sticklers here, so please, no chatspeak.))[Strike through by GAPAs. You can write this elsewhere when the occasion calls for it. The Welcome thread is reserved for welcoming and answering neophytes’ questions. –Admin.]Oh, sorry.
It’s almost my 1 year MB birthday.

Welcome neophytes!!!!
ilovehannah.

she is a gum giver.
Hello!
I’m a neophyte! I have finally, after much thinking, thought of what to say here.
um….(As you can tell, I haven’t really thought much at all)
I don’t think you’ll have to harass me about grammar/capitalization/spelling, since I usually can’t abide any form of chatspeak anyway.
Should I introduce myself, or no?
Well, I guess I can start posting on other threads now….? Since I don’t really have any questions…
OK, I shall do that.
Hi, bella. Welcome to our little corner of paradise, MuseBlog.
Welcome bella!
You’re allowed to post on any threads that you want to – I would just suggest that you review the Rules and HG2G (Both located on the bar at the top of the page.) so that your experience here can be as good as possible. It already seems like you’ve got a good handle on our “thing” about grammar/capitalization/spelling/punctuation so I’m sure you’ll be fine here! If you have any questions, feel free to ask! We’re nice people, even if some of us don’t look like it.
Awesome thread to post on: Romantic Musical Comedy.
Welcome!
(I’m assuming you’re talking about Bellatrix ?)
If so,

If no,
Heh. Pies for all!
well hello world. (L)
this is me, life should be, ohh yer fun for everyone.
hey ahve you trued that new 5 gum.

–
Welcome! Wait, are you new? Sorry, your post didn’t explicitly say that you just joined, but pies anyway!
If you are new:
Please review the Rules and HG2G if you haven’t already done it. There is much helpful info there that will guide you as you enter the world of Muse!! Also, I don’t want to make you feel bad but please try your best to use proper capitalization, spelling, and punctuation. It just makes everything a lot easier to read and understand. Thanks!
A neophyte is a beginner. In the context of Christianity, the term often refers to a newly ordained priest, a person who recently took a monastic vow, or a new convert to the religion.
In the Catholic and Orthodox Churches an adult convert is considered a neophyte for one year after conversion. Roman Catholic neophytes are considered full members of the Church, but may not act as sponsors for others planning to join.
In ecology, a neophyte is a plant species recently introduced to an area (in contrast to an archaeophyte, a long-established introduced species).
In fraternities, it is a person that is a new convert or member of a secret fraternal organization, a beginner or novice member of the organization, or a recent convert (rookie/freshman) to the fraternal organization.
-Yes all right, it’s from Wikipedia. But still, interesting, no? Considering people outside of MB might consider neophytes (e.g. me) a plant species recently introduced to an area…
