After the Great Pie War came the rebuilding of Civilization. Now, while landlubbers compose the Chronicles of Museica, a few hardy sea dogs are preparing to sail for unknown territory. They were just getting under way at the end of the Rebuilding Civilization thread. This is their story, if they care or dare to tell it.
Thread closed to posting; continued on Part 2.
Huzzah! Well, being the carpenter, I guess it’s my job to build the boat.
*builds boat*
Um, I didn’t sign up for this, cause I was at camp, but this sounds kewl. The only problem is, I’m running for Aeiouian PM.
Can I be captain?
pralius canix was the captain, i think. i piloted the sbmarine. yes you are allowed to run for PM and sail the high seas! thats what im going to do.
Build yer own ship, landlubber. I’m a privateer and it’s my job ter keep the high seas free of scurvy pierates.
Set sail! Our first destination is the Caesar Archipelago, consisting of Dressing Island, Crouton Isle and Lettuce’s Island, in the Eastern Seas. Having taken on supplies there, we will search for new lands. And if any pierates cross our path, we will sink them. Remember, we get half their loot and give the rest to the Museican Government. We will go down the Meringue River from San Dxkosii, then north, round the Icecream Horn(braving treacherous seas and cold temperatures) and due southeast to the Archipelago. Course from there will be decided by vote.
~~~~~~SHIP’S~~~LOG~~~~~~~~~
OF~THE~BLACK~FOOTED~FERRET
Aug. 6. Current of Meringue taking us nicely to the coast. Uneventful day. So far.
I am the ship’s doctor. BEWARE!!! The only problem is, I can’t remember whose crew I was on. I’ll have to go check.
*runs off to check*
o.k.
I know now.
Prarilius, can I be the person who says “we are ___ miles/knots away from our destination? The map reader?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aug. 6 (later) We have sailed past the Marinara Trench. Uneventful still, exept one of the sailors found a shipworm in the head. We named it Bob the Second.
Hmm… I was going to join the black footed ferret but I may create my own ship…
Marinara Trench?!! Get it? Like the Mariana treanch?! Hahaha!!
Methinks I drank a bit to much pie-rum.
Where are we?
I’ll build my own ship.
*builds own ship* There.
I need a crew. Who wants to voulenteer?
*volunteers* No war, please? we are two FRIENDLY ships from the SAME government, sailing on two DIFFERENT voyages.
i volunteer!
i’m first mate!
wait –
Koko du Pelle, how are you going to be PM while on a boat?
Cotton will join skipper nancy’s boat, now that she has returned from Is This Forever or What?.
GRRRRRRRRRR. I got elected Featherian Prime Minister. Sorry, Parilius, your cook takes her leave.
you know what – i’m going to build my own ship!
*waves magic wand, small ship appears*
yay!
sorry, but i got too confuzzled to stay with any of you ppls.
—
ship, i dub thee “The Sweet Tiramisu”
if anyone wants to join me, they can, whether a PM or not.
i plan to set sail in a few days, traveling as far north as we dare…
Note: a requirement of joining my crew is even knowing what tiramisu is
Note-the-second: if you don’t feeling looking it up on the internet, i’ll tell you
It’s Prime Muser.
Nobody ever said PMs cannot do service to the country while still maintaining thier office. However, as the country is so new, we should probably not depart as of *is pied* yet. ew!!!! cow pie! this is NOT funny!!!!!!
Permission to come aboard, anyone? Though I be a captain’s daughter, I will most gladly swab decks, peel potatoes, repair sails, serve coffee . . . no job is too menial, so long as I can be out on the ocean again.
Also, I never get seasick.
who says you cant be a PM and sail the seven seas?!? or however many there are.
Rebecca-
You can come aboard the ship I’m on! Welcome to the Black-Footed-Ferret!
23- Only 3 at the moment.
I’ll do a little squiggle like this ~ to show when it’s the ship’s log.
~
Aug. 7. Rebecca Lasley has now been appointed cook. The mouth of the Meringue River is in view. The wind is against us. Signs of a storm approaching.
~
HARD ‘A STARBOARD, BARTLEBY!
~
We are now sailing north up the coast.
~
Those who are members of my crew, put the following in all posts on this thread: KOKO DU PELLE When should we leave?
My ship’s the Ooei, by the way. It’s all the vowels in Kokopelli.
~
Storm’s brewing. We have to make landfall.
~
Fluffy: Cap’n! I can see a sheltered cove on the coast!
Me: Two p’ints starb’d, Bartleby! We’ll be warm and dry tonight!
~
We’re making for what shall be called Canix Cove. A rugged point of land protects it from the elements. From the mountains surrounding it runs Capricious Creek, which empties into the cove by way of Fluffy Falls.
~
Be patient, crew, you’ll all get places named after you.
If we ever get treasure, we’ll bury it here.
Miss Lasley, start cooking up some grub, please. If you serve chard, I will maroon you.
Ms. L. lives in North Carolina. You’re more likely to get pokeweed.
Aye, aye, captain, at your service. No fear of chard. *quickly tosses chard overboard*
Ahem. Or pokeweed, either, thank you very much — long history of bad blood between me and that rascally stuff. Besides, it’s poisonous, except the young leaves. I may not qualify for Iron Chef, but I do know my plants.
Any special requests? We’ve plenty of provisions in the galley. Not a leaf of chard in sight.
Arrrg, Jadestone has decided to join the Black-Footed_Ferret!! She herself owns one of these noble beasts, and will thus join in honor of her! *goes off to cuddle Bandit, her ferret* *is bitten* Arr, she doesn’t enjoy the cuddlin’ much.
All right, the crew of the Ooei is:
Koko du Pelle=captain
Otzi=first mate
Blackblogger=cook
alan=lookout
If anyone else volenteers, this list will be modified. If Otzi quits, Supermuse will be first mate.
Oi!
anyone want to come aboard “The Sweet Tiramisu”?
we’ll be traveling as far north as we dare…
wait – which way is north?
Thank you for joining my ship, Cotton. As it seems there are several other boats, I shall elect my self skipper of my own. Which means my name shall finally fit me.
The boat is a beauitful green two masted schooner named The Craunched Marmoset.
Crew:
Skipper- skipper
Cotton- 1st mate.
wait, which ship did I join way back when?
*confused*
34- I’ll join. And fill whatever position needs filling.
Where is the Ooei sailing?
As first mate and navigator, I have several ideas:
To the west, the un-navigated open sea, dotted with islands unknown to us, except for Pie Isle which may or may not exist and is said to be populated with the mysterious Editors
To the south, in search of a new type of Pink Bunny sticker
or to the south-east, on a voyage of war and retribution against Highlights Magazine
~
Aug. 8. With a fair following wind(the storm broke last night), we are sailing upcoast. The Icecream Horn is estimated to be only thirty nautical miles away. Rough seas are approaching. Sighted three vanilla narwhals today. Fluffy says he saw a sunken galleon below us.
~
DROP ANCHOR, JADESTONE!!!
OK, crew, who volunteers to go down in a diving bell and collect what treasure there may be?
I’m tempted to switch to the craunched marmoset or the sweet tiramisu instead of being all lonely on the Ooei… The captain, cook, and lookout are the same person, and the other ships sound like much more fun…
37-
YAY! my first mate! and whatever else you choose to be!
now, we can finally set sail, into the unknown beyond!
good to have you aboard, sweet melpomene
Ive got a submarine, i can take people down since im already under the water. ooooh…. pieces of eight!
I now command the USS intrepid and need more ships in the Kokomuseica fleet to join me in anexpedition. Whos with me?!
Huzzah, let us sail! And impress people if we can’t get a crew!!!!
43 – right, sweet mel!
can i call you that?
that’s a lot shorter.
you can call me bella.
right, let’s set sail!
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUGUST 8~~
Today I and my crew of one, consisting of Sweet Melpomene, set sail. As I have stated over and over, I hope to travel north (which ever way that is; i hope mel is bringing a compass) to discover the unknown. I have heard tales from other sea dogs of strange things… giant monsters that will sink a ship with pies… sea serpents that lure sailors to their deaths with illusions of delicious delicacies… sirens that recite nursery songs with such vigor that people go crazy…
But those are all tales, right?
First Mate of “The Sweet Tiramisu”, I hope you will help me keep an excellent ship’s log.
~~ships log~~~of the sweet tiramisu~~~
hahahaha. It is I, Otzi. I have stowed away on the Sweet Tiramisu without Bella or Mel knowing. mwahahahaha…..i will reveal myself at the proper time…..
oh. crap. I guess I already did. Hi, mel…
Hi…bella….
*terror*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since I saw the treasure and you got it, FantasyFan, we will split it. There are 1000 gold doubloons, 5000 pieces of eight, and 3 quarts of assorted jewels.
~
Aug. 9. Today we picked up some treasure. We got a share amounting to 500 doubloons, 2500 pieces of eight, and 3 pints of assorted jewels. We are preparing to round the Horn. 8 more vanilla narwhals today. Small island coming into view. We will land there to make sure the ship is, well, shipshape.
~
Submarine log of the …wow, i havent come up with a name yet.
I will, later.
~~
I’m following the Black footed ferret from behind. While they make sure their ship is okay I will do some underwater exploring. I se something that looks like an undersea volcano. Cap’n Canix, that island might be volcanic. watch out. Also the pierates have been rather quiet lately. Maybe they want to steal our newfound treasure?!
The Honorable Otzi!?!
What are you doing on my ship?!
oh well, now I have a crew of two!
Mel, could you take otzi on a tour of the ship?
and maybe throw a few pies at him too?
thanx.
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUGUST 9~~
Today I discovered Boian Prime Muser, the “Honorable” Otzi, stowed away on my ship. But I didn’t really mind, but as long as he’s on the ship, he’s going to work… and get pied… but i’ll forget that he stowed away soon enough.
—
wait, did Otzi stow away?
oh right, he did.
*glowers*
Nausicaa? is it? or do i just need glasses?
oh. i just need glasses.
lets name the boat “Summer colored sigh” for thats from…
FURUBA!!! Yea! i got cut off
A mysterious apparition, known to some as ‘Penty’, materialized out of thin air. Ignoring the spammer, it said in an oddly nasal voice to the General Population: “Go ye, and seek the Writing System. Be not afraid of faliure, for I shall guide thy steps. Or floats. Or whatever motion it is that thou art making. I shall guide thee. Howzzat sound?”
It looked quizzically around at the General Populace, then cleared its mysterious throat and continued. “Right then. Sail west, yea, even beyond the Rising Sun, until you come to the land that is sheltering the System. Move quickly, for it is well-inhabited, and remove texts containing the System from wherever ye do see them, and guard them well, for they are thy Spoils, and they are thy Quest. Make sure to note the capital letters. They’re important.” And with that, the apparition faded away into nothingness. “Zai jian!”
((Yes, I’m aware that the sun rises in the east. It’s plot, dangit, plot. And it does make sense. Read the AMJ thread, post 34 or thereabouts, if you want to know the answer to the riddle and why I just popped up in a thread I’ve never really frequented.))
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUGUST 9, cont.~~
We have sighted land! Hopefully, it’s not Museica, which we already left…
But the land seems to be inhabited. We can see smoke rising to the atmosphere.
I hope to venture onto this new land, if my crew agrees
and if they don’t – too bad! we’re still going on the land
Be glad to! *gives Otzi tour*
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUGUST 9~~
The stowaway Bella discovered today happened to be the Boian Prime Muser, known as Otzi.
I gave her a short tour of the Sweet Tiramisu and she is now well acquainted with the ship’s workings.
We have admitted her to our crew and have set to work keeping the pie cannons clean.
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUGUST 9, cont.~~
hold on…
i just reread post 57…
i thought my ship was traveling north…
not west…
oh well.
On with the ship! This may be the land the one known as “Penty” has sent us to find!
Mayhaps the “Writing System” shall be there!
—
*ship is sailing*
—
Finally, we have come close enough to the shore. Drop anchor! Drop rowboats!
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUGUST 9, still on the same day~~
Heave! Ho!
At last, we have reached the shore of the unknown land.
There is a thick jungle in the middle of the island, and..
wait, are those voices?
oh my jolly blinkin’ aunt.
The inhabitants of this island are erm…
not humanoid.
to be precise, they are rodents. Kind of a cross between a rat-squirrel thing.
hmmm… they seem friendly. but there are so many of them!
They allowed us to pass them and enter the jungle. There, we saw what looked like a catapult in progress, a large bakery from which came the smells of pie, and all around, on trees, on the ground, everywhere, were odd markings. Sometimes, an inhabitant would stop, look at the marking, and continue on. Other rodents would completely alter their course.
Very odd.
They also walked sometimes on four legs, sometimes on two, waving their sleek, fur-covered tails behind them. They are very, very large, too.
I think I shall call them LIRs, Large-Intelligent-Rodents.
I shall continue this log later, I think.
The apparition smiled slightly evilly. It cackled, then looked around as if frightened that someone had seen or heard.
“Is this thing on?” it asked, in true Penty fashion. “Visit the RRR! Stop the first post madness. ‘Life is too important to be taken seriously.’ I’ll write something… someday. Ooh, shiny!” it continued, also in true Penty fashion.
The thing, whatever it was, did not seem to be on, or else the mysterious apparition was misreading the label that said, in nice big letters, “
Don’t PanicThis Thing Is Not On.” Satisfied, it settled down to watch the proceedings.((Whoops…you were going north? I skimmed and couldn’t find anything about direction, so I just continued with my evil plot. You don’t even have to listen to me, should you think your ideas were better. I’ll just do mysterious things from time to time, that’s all.))
Capt. Bella- I am NOT a “he”!
~~~ships log~~~
Am v. v. glad that I was accepted and not thrown overboard off The Sweet Tiramisu. But, then again, you cannot exactly throw the Boian Prime Muser off the ship. It would cause a big incident. The LIRs were v. v. friendly + have new and unusual pie recipe that involves edible glue. v. v. sticky + hard to get off face + hair. I learned this the hard way. Must get revenge on Melpomene.
One of the whipped cream machines on the Tiramisu Pie cannons is faulty. Was fixing it when espresso beans fell on me from other machine. curses. Must check all storerooms on board for better tools + ones not made from pie tins.
~~~
SHIP’S LOG
~~still AUGUST 9~~
after learning that the whipped cream machines were not working properly, i asked the LIRs if they could help us.
They stared at us.
Suddenly, they began to scurry around, and left us. As suddenly as they had left, they returned, carrying with them pie ingredients, sheets of metal, wrenches, hammers, nails, screws, wood, etc. They also gave us a leaf.
Perfect! Well, not the leaf, but the other materials.
After helping Otzi fix the machine (hopefully it will work), I decided to give the LIRs a gift. I gave them…
a leaf.
they were delighted. it was really amazing how happy they were. they began a pie fight, they were so excited. We left before it could get any worse – that edible glue is horrible! I must get the recipie.
Note to Otzi: much sorry!
~~~STILL AUG. 9~~~
As we were finishing the last bits of the pie cannon-painting v. v. cool designs on them, loading them, and standing with them and the LIRs as proof of our venture, I had an idea. A wicked awesome, revengeful idea. I poked a small hole in the edible Glue tank–one i could easily fix, of course– and suggested to Mel that she paint the underside of the cannon. Whilst she was beneath, I began to fill the tank. She came out COMPLETELY covered in the stuff. She looked like Melted Marshmallow Man. I almost peed myself–laughed v. v. hard. She had to spend hours with a sponge and some Krud Kutter to get rid of the stuff, while I patched the leak. Sweet revenge!!!!!

SHIP’S LOG
~~August 10~~
Edible Glue is horrible. I have just spent hours scrubbing edible glue off of myself with a sponge and some Krud Kutter [which, luckily, the LIRs had on hand]. Why? Because there was a hole in the Edible Glue tank. Which I probably would have thought was completely accidental and due to some sort of strange corrosive properties of the Glue, if Otzi had not wrote about INTENTIONALLY SABOTAGING some of our ship’s equipment. First, stowing away; now, this?
Anyway, we’ll be setting sale shortly, and I still have to see if any of the LIRs would like to join our crew. I have a feeling they’ll be useful.
23: It’s rather hard to supervise agriculture several hundred miles from the coast. I’ll think about it though.
20: Thanks.
Skipper: Wonderful name for a boat. If you’re shorthanded…
~
Aug. 10. We are approaching the Icecream Horn. We have landed on Frozen Isle to get our bearings. Frozen Isle is dominated by Pistachio Peak, a large volcano in its center, which periodically erupts into molten ice cream. On its slopes are lush coniferous forests, in which dwell Floobs. (Floobs are small, intelligent, hovering balls of blue fur with beady black eyes.) These forests are filled with hot springs. We have landed on a beach of Rocky Road ice cream.
~
Arr, matey, we shall bury our treasure here. I need a volunteer to help me carry the chest.
Revised crew list of the Ooei:
Koko du Pelle=Cap.
Supermuse=1st mate
Blackblogger=cook
alan=lookout
Because Otzi STOWED AWAY on Bellatrix Lestrange’s ship!
Now that our treasure has safely been buried, we shall round the Icecream Horn.
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUGUST 10~~
Today shall be one of the last days we spend with the LIRs – we need to be moving on. After the incident with the edible glue (don’t worry, mel, I’m sure an ACCIDENT will happen some day), I considered leaving Otzi on the island and bringing some LIRs with us, but that would be an infringement on the government – best hope for an ACCIDENT *nudges mel*.
Mel! I have to say i’m glad you’re part of my crew because you COMPLETELY READ MY MIND! Maybe later you or Otzi or both can go and ask the LIRs if they’d like to join us.
Make sure you give them a leaf – that seems to be a positive sign.
and take a look around – maybe the rodents can give us something else that would be useful.
~~~Ships Log~~~
It was in revenge for the giant pie made with the glue. And BLOODY funny. I feel sorry though. I promise I won’t do it again. Can Mel possibly forgive me? She pied me, I..er..glued her. Justice is served. (the pie was about 4. ft. wide and dropped on me from the crow’s nest).
~~~~
An ACCIDENT? Captain, With all due respect, may I remind you that the pie was FOUR FEET WIDE??? and also that I took an enormous risk stowing away in the first place. But I digress. I will be a nice person from now on. I never do stuff like that unless provoked.
Nobody’s volenteered to be a crew member on the Ooei. I NEED CREW MEMBERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The apparition laughed loudly at the scene with the four-foot-wide pie. It rubbed its incorporeal hands together; it always did enjoy a good pieing at the stake. Or not at the stake; it really didn’t matter. I shall have to get some of that edible glue. One never knows when something may come in handy on a Quest, especially not one with a capital Q.
The LIRs decided our ship needed a through cleaning…so they kicked us off to watch from shore as they deep-cleaned it,filled the storerooms, and painted and scrubbed and polished everything. When they finally let us back on board I was amazed. Our cabins were all in perfect order, the laundry was done, the dishes were done, the storerooms were full and orderly, and there was such a gloss on the deck and masts you could see yourself. They bowed deeply, presented us with a rock, and left. We now have a VERY clean ship.
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUG. 10~~
Yay! my ship, “The Sweet Tiramisu,” is now the cleanest ship in the fleet!
I went and talked to the LIRs after they had cleaned our ship and asked them if they wanted to come aboard.
I got the “completely-confused” look.
I attempted sign language – point at LIRs, point at ship, point at me, point at ship.
Still got the look.
Suddenly, one of the brighter ones smiled big and began to say:
“Squeak-Sqeeak squeakers squeakity squeakin squeak-squeak-squeak. Squawk squeakin squeakers squeak squeakers squawk!”
all of the LIRs smiled after this and stampeded toward the ship.
Now, we have a crew of two and 108 LIRs. We also have a catapult, more supples than ever, and new pie ingredients. Their island lies deserted now, but they seem very happy to come with us. They also brought two huge baskets of leaves and rocks with them.
After all they had done for us, I didn’t complain.
We leave tomorrow. We head north.
(75) – try asking people on different threads if they’d like to join your ship – that’s what I did
And a rock.
(76) – if you want edible glue, you’ll have to get it from us!
and i ‘ve got to tell you, that’ll be pretty hard, the LIRs gave us an excellent security system.
Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeak!
81 (BL)- “That would be extremely difficult,” it said, “for I am not in possession of physical hands with which to grasp the bottle.” The apparition sniffed slightly, or seemed to through its incorporeal nose. “Seek It thus!” it cried before vanishing again, as it seemed to be fond of doing.
I know we love the LIRs, but do we REALLY want all 109 of them? I think ten is the best number. The ship is already almost touching bottom. Mel and I pulled up about ten feet of slack chain when they got on.
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUG. 10~~
After hearing the report made by otzi and mel about overweighting the ship with LIRs, I decided I had to do something.
so, i went and talked to them.
They were gathered in the barracks, having a wild party.
I asked them is some of them would leave because the ship was overweighted.
oi. i got the confused look.
so i drew a picture on a piece of paper. i drew a whole bunch of large creatures, drew them getting on the ship, and drew the ship sinking.
the next that happened was chaos. the poor LIRs began to mill about, not really knowing what to do. I whistled sharply and they froze in their tracks. I drew a picture of some LIRs on the beach and some LIRs on the ship and the ship was fine and everybody was happy. the LIRs looked like they were considering it, so I left.
a few minutes later, about half of the LIRs came up to me, Otzi, and Mel and said “Squeak squeak squeak, squeak squeak, squeakers, squeaking.” Seeing the crew’s obvious confusion, the LIR pointed to itself, pointed to the rowboats, and pointed to the island.
They were going to leave!
We rowed them back to the island, where they stayed, looking very very sad. I thanked them for making such an honorable choice. Of course, they didn’t understand me, but I then gave them a huge leaf, a small boulder, and a fresh pie filled with edible glue. This made them slightly happier, and they happily each took a slice of edible glue and threw it at each other – not at any Musers. They gave us a smile, and walked back to their village, never to be seen again… at least, not soon…
i will miss those guys, even though we have 48 LIRs still on board.
but maybe some other Muser will come along and adopt those poor, sweet LIRs.
after performing an Enlargement Charm upon the ship, which is now a huge, gallant, four-master, I settled down to finish this day.
there otzi – are you happy? after asking me to perform such a heartless task… of course, you were right, but I’m *sniff* going *sniff* to miss *sniff* those little guys *sob*
—
but at least they let us keep the catapult – it’s a fine weapon!
I’d be tempted to join if it were not so nonsensical. =P
(86) – were you talking to me?
what do you mean, “nonsensical”?
humph.
it makes perfect sense (i think)
well, I think it’s too late to join my ship…
but you can join Koko du Pelle’s ship!
be careful; koko’s got multiple personalities (so I heard)
if you do want to join his ship, post that on the Chronicles of Museica thread – I think he’s the only one left on land…
Oi! he does! for a while the ship was me, him, and him, and him, and him, and him!!! Then I left and it was just him and him and him and him. And him and him.
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUGUST 11~~
We departed early this morning along with our highly efficient crew of LIRs. I will miss them. Even though they reversed the ACCIDENT of Otzi [in her hammock] getting tied to random trees on their island. Just before we were going to wake up and set sail. If the LIRs hadn’t overloaded the ship, the BPM would have been in for a nasty surprise…erm, ACCIDENT.
Anyway, we’re out at sea on a very calm day, but there are clouds on the horizon. Hopefully, we won’t encounter any foul weather.
ship log of the MUSE SS Intrepid
*August 11*
today we set sail and we found land. but when we realized it was where we started we fired our navigator. now we are lost at sea. sent SOS to any ships nearby please help.
sorry bella i havent been here in 1 day and there are 40 more posts i didnt know u agreed to be in the Koko fleet
(91) – ummm… I didn’t join Koko’s ship…
well, i did, but now I have my own ship…
well, if you’re lost, can you tell me about where you are?
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUGUST 11~~
Today we left the island of LIRs. I have received an SOS message from Johnny Vern, but, not knowing where he is, I cannot CQ.
I hope that Mel, Otzi, and I can learn the language of the LIRs, or they can learn english.
Foul weather approaches fast – the waves up ahead are huge!
I can only hope that we sur- WHOA!
The foul weather – it is here!
AHHHHHH!
the powerful waves lap upon the deck!
oh no! we might have to bail out!
everyone tie yourselves to something – i think we’re going to-
…
oh. the storm stopped.
YAY! we didn’t sink!
hah, I laugh in your face, foul weather…. if you have a face…
MUSE SS Intrepid ship log
*August 11*
drifted for 5 hours and came upon an island.
upon exploring learned the island was called Arbos.
no idea where this island is and we dont have a navigator.
there is nothing on this island that we know of except one of our crew went out to forage for food never came back. Also we found a small warship that is nothing like our battleship the Intrepid
but we decided to comandeer it anyways. there was nothing on board. the crew is scared. please help anyone! SOS! SOS!
*SOS message from MUSE SS Intrepid*
we have our bearings and now know we are 117 miles from Musica but in which direction we dont know please help!
p.s. our new ship is called the MUSE SS Koko
~~~SHIPS LOG~~~
After the VERY amusing (not) stunt of tying me up on the island, I am starting to feel the tiniest bit sorry for mel…she will have to deal with my revenge later. And it will be MUCH worse than the glue incident. Much, much worse. *cackles*
As son as the bad weather hit, I scampered up to the crow’s nest… only to find the spirit known as Penty sitting crosslegged, barring my path up the rope. Until I realized I could climb right through him. Which I did. Reaching the crow’s nest, I lashed myeslf to the mast and stood lookout. “SHIP AHOY!” I shouted in my best pirate brogue. ‘SHIP!!! OMG, THERE’S A SHIP!!! CAPTAIN BELLA, LOOK!!! A SHIP !!!! SHIPPITY SHIPSHIP SHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOOKOUT, A SHIP!!! DON’T CRASH!!!!! SHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIPSHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPP!!!!!!!
“SHUT UP ALREADY!” yelled Captain Bella from the helm. Just then we were hit by a large wave. Several LIRs ran for cover. Bella, Mel and I were bobbed around like beads on the ends of our ropes. When the weather cleared, I pointed toward the now very near SS intrepid. “I said there was a ship.” When we came alongside the ship, we found the inhabitants to be very confused looking. They thanked us so much it was a little embarassing.
~
Aug. 11. We have rounded the Horn, but we lost the the foremast, the jibsail and several sideplanks. We are to land in New Rekyjavik, capital of Iceland and home of the Muse Academy, for repairs and at least a week of shore leave before continuing the voyage.
Bob the Second was measured again today. It has grown seven
inches.
~
I’ve got a crew member. My crew now is:
Koko du Pelle=captain
Lizzie=first mate
Blackblogger=cook
alan=lookout
Supermuse=mapreader
Shore leave could not come to soon, Captain Canix. The food has been disappearing with most unexpected speed. All our provisions are running low, except the rutabagas. I’m not even sure how we ended up with so many rutabagas in the first place . . . .
Rutabaga stew for dinner, but then we may have to eat Bandit.
*is buried under pies from an outraged Jadestone*
Only joking.
New Reyjkavik in sight!
97 (Otzi)- “Excuse me,” the Appariton said. “While I am gender-neutral, Penty is female. And it hurts something awful to be walked through, even if it doesn’t bother the walker.” It muttered something, and then floated downwards aimlessly to have a little chat with the LIRs. Forming a leaf-covered rock out of air, it proceeded to squeak in a rather undignified manner.
Aug. 12. We have come ashore for repairs and relaxation. Today we discovered the reason for our everything-except-rutabaga shortage. Bob the Second is now three feet long and has been munching on our supplies. He is allergic to rutabagas. I am now headed for the comfortable inn He Sleep as a Marmot.
He Sleep as a Marmot is famous for its pie rum. Don’t worry, GAPAs, pie rum is non-alcoholic. It is made by distilling Essence of Weirdness and adding 3 pints Pie Fungus juice.
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUG 12~~
Today I am ready to contact Johnny verne and respond to his SOS signal
I say that if he wants to know where he is…
HE WILL HAVE TO GIVE US A SHIP!
…
hmmm… that seems like a fair price, doesn’t it?
I mean, if he doesn’t have a navigator, he can’t possibly commandeer two ships!
and we can’t give him a navigator
that is, unless mel *sniff* or otzi *sniff* want to leave *sniff* me…
…
so, Johnny, give me a ship, I give you your life…
and I promise, if dealings are peaceful, we shall not harm your crew…
(otzi, arm the cannons and shields – just in case)
Johnny, you have heard your options – you cannot run long with “The Sweet Tiramisu” on your tail.
I guess you have no options
note to crew: remind me to explore the island and find out why someone went missing, would you?
note to crew: if j.v. cooperates, mel can be captain of the other ship as long as she swears loyalty to me. I am, after all, THE captain.
note to crew: and if mel is on another ship, that reduces the chances of a full-scale war between mel and otzi
hmm… I think i’m finally starting to live up to my name…
105 (PC)- The Apparition mysteriously appeared over the excellent in He Sleep As A Marmot. “You forgot to close your tags,” it instructed. <i>He Sleep As A Marmot</i> rather than <i>He Sleep As A Marmot<i> or <i>He Sleep As A Marmot.
“Now, don’t make me come down there again. I need my beauty rest. And making all those lts and gts is tiring on the fingers, especially on this keyboard.” It sighed, and then vanished to talk to the LIRs again. They seemed to be the only sensible ones here.
I have arrived. I don’t know where I have been all this time!
(I suspect it was in my bunk, sleeping…)
But I can’t remember, which is probablly a bad sign. But now I am at the inn, the SNOOZING MARMOT… or is it the SLEEPING DRAGON…or the …what captain? oh, right, HE SLEEP AS A MARMOT. It has very good rum pie…pierate rum…What, captain?… oh, right, Pie Rum! Sorry.
But anyway, I guess nobody is ill, but if you are, I am at this wonderful inn, HE SLEEP AS A MONKEY, along with the rest of the crew of The Black Footed Ferret.
I’m afraid I don’t really know how to fix ships, though, captain. We might have to get some of the locals to help us with that. Is Bob at THE RESTING MONKEY with us? Oh dear. Sorry. I seem to be having some memory problems today. Who are you again?
~
Aug. 12. After a light breakfast and quantities of pie rum(my crew were snoring their heads off), I varnished the Black-Footed Ferret with rutabaga juice to keep Bob the Second from consuming it. The ship is now a purplish color and is fireproof, obviously due to a strange chemical reaction between cinnamon timber and rutabaga juice.
Radio Message to all out at sea: a landlubber who loves the sea is radio-ing in to ask for captians to describe the places they’ve seen and their condition for I the fearless librarian can help if one has a problem ( I can look in my books) please radio back to the location molasses dessert Library Thank you.
DAW, do you know the exact chemical properties of rutabaga juice when mixed with cinnamon timber?
I think that one of the highlights of your journey, captains, should be a visit to Wild Dragon Point. It has the only clan of wild dragons known to all Museaica. (Of course, there are about 200 dragons, and there are other clans not in Museaica, but still.)
Canix I am working on finding that right now though I do belive that rutabaga might have a acidic reaction and cause a hole but the again I am not sure more later over and out
Aug.14. Still in New Reykjavik. We will not set sail until the Librarian tells us whether our new varnish is safe. Bob the Second is colossal now. Our next destination is Wild Dragon Point, where we will leave him to live a happy life in a colony of Woodwyrms.
As soon as we have done that, as well as visited the Caesar Archipelago, we shall circumnavigate the globe so that accurate maps can be made. Some of the higher-flying pies destroyed all orbiting satellites, so we cannot make accurate maps unless this voyage is successful.
~
Point of interest; many pies impacted the moon…
Thus increasing mass and releasing gas
At the same time, as told in this…*is pied*
*wipes filling off face* Anyway, the Moon might now have an atmosphere.
Hmph. More lie’ Bandit wo’ eat you, Capin’. Non ofence, but she’s not takin’ kindly t’ stranges. Bu’ we’ll soon sort tha’ out wi’ a few banna chips. Eh, girl? *feeds Bandit banna chips* *Bandit is happy* *Bandit does her happydance* Ah, look shis dancin’ fer us! Good luck tonite!
Methinks we need a cartographer. Unless somebody aboard ship has a talent for that sort of thing. I don’t.
Does anybody need a bandaid?
Captain, do dragons EAT shipworms???? I hope not…
119. Maybe we should become space-pierates after we complete our mission here in Museca. That would be froody. Then we could colonize the moon! (If the atmosphere is safe, and all)
(109)
never will i surrender my ship to u!!!!!!!!!!!
i wont atk but just so u know the Intrepid is one of the largest battleships in the US navy. i have fighter jets bombers antiarcraft guns missles and such. (the real intrepid had all of those things and is know on display in NYC. it was used in WWII and was hit by kamikaze four times but still survived and is still working today)
plus i have a small warship.and i have called in the assistance of my friend whose name i dont know because hes changed it 3 times to be my navigator. ill just wait here.
(109 again)
cannons hahahahahahha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry thats just funny. cannons! hahahaha!
122-Well Guvnh where do u want me to steer teh ship?
wait, cant grasp wheel! stupid smoke hands…
wait! i can just wish i had hands! *has hands*
no but really i dont want to fight u
The Apparition liked grammar. And didn’t like Suedom, even for boats. It would not say who it was pointing this remark at.
Having talked to the LIRs for quite some while, its throat hurt from squeaking. It vanished into the sky once more to get rested and inquire about the moon. It hoped that the pierates had not forgotten about their Quest.
(121) Hmm. I can draw and I’m an excellent reader of maps. Somehow, though, I can’t ever get those two skills to cooperate with each other. A little matter of scale. . . .
(122) – how dare you!
and what do I care if the Intrepid is part of the US Navy?
BAH!
I serve Museica, the country somewhere near Iceland (I think)
And you call yourself a citizen of museica? and yet you have a ship that’s from an american museum…
I shall say again, BAH!
your fighter jets and bombers and rubber duckies couldn’t leave a mark on the Tiramisu even if they tried
humph… are you trying to scare me?
well, sho’ didn’t work.
or…
are you not a citizen of Museica?
HE’S A SPY! I KNEW IT! JOHNNY’S A SPY!
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUG 15~~
Today, after receiving an unacceptable response from Johnny Verne concerning his all-mighty American ship from a museum, I have fought to regain my dignity. Humph…
I hope our ships do not cross paths again…
for if they do… NOTHING could stop the Tiramisu in battle!
*sigh* okay, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in…
okay, fine, i won’t attack Johnny Verne…
… yet.
We depart from this part of the sea as soon as poosible. I hope to continue north.
Aug. 15. Still in Iceland, waiting for response from DAW.
Fluffy wants to visit the LIRs. His mother was a LlR and his father was a prairie dog who was born near a nuclear power plant.
Aug. 15. continued. I spilled pie rum on the Black-footed Ferret today by accident and found that the timber has become harder than titanium, but extremely light. Cannonballs and pies would simply bounce off. We set sail tomorrow. In the meantime, we have been making 3 jollyboats: the Zephyr, the Scirocco and the Key Lime.
Arrg. That KEEPS HAPPENING. I will STAY AWAY from italics, because they are CURSED.
[Fixed it. –Admin.]
To the black footed ferret my studies have shown that this creates a barrier around your ship like a varnish and perhaps as you have seen makes it very bouncey. Also this chemical reaction may make animals on the ship sick. Feed them rutabaga juice with cinnamon sticks in tea should cure them.
127-I’m sure you will be great! maybe you could just draw REALLY BIG maps… hmmmmmmmmmmmm…
That is really good news about the timbers of the ship. Now it will be virtually indistructable!
dijiin you are the captain of the MUSE SS KOKO and you let me borrow your aprentice navigator. set sail where you wish but keep in contact ALWAYS. we could have a problem in the near future.
(129) oh and the Intrepid is not in a museum its in the NYC harbor.
also its not in the navy anymore it was retired. but the thing is there is a sign on the inside of the intrepid saying that the intrepid is a property of the government and in times of national emergency the government will re-comandeer it. meaning if we have a fleet coming to attack the US they will use it.
ship log of the MUSE SS INTREPID
*August 15*
we parted from the KOKO today. as our crews said farwell across the sea something was going to happen. weither good or bad i dont know but something and soon.
*Message to Sweet Tiramisu*
Im sorry if i insulted u but i really dont want to battle. arent we on the same side here?
in the hull of one ship, a stowaway wakens.
“rats” thinks the stowaway, “must have fallen asleep by the ale when i was loadin’ thise here ship”.
The stowaway takes another tankard from the nearest keg and settles down to wait for some one to find her.
August 16
i went below decks to ration out some water when lo and behold i found a stowaway on my ship.
Some one was coming towards the stowaway. Quietly, she put down her tankard and put her self in a defensable position, waiting for her finder to make the first move.
When i found the stowaway i decided to be friendly in light of recent increasement of enimies. I asked what her name was.
The stowaway decided she had nothing to lose, “Ann” she said.
Just so some people know its Vern WITHOUT an e.
no its not my real name but still this name has nothing to do with Jules Verne.
only A Dijiin knows where this name came from
(131) – PC
I invite you and Fluffy to visit the LIRs if our paths ever cross
(137) – JV
I’m sorry if I insulted you, too. And we are on the same side.
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUG 16~~
As we sail further and further North, it gets colder and colder. Already we have had to break into the coat closet and put on layers. The LIRs are fine, as they have thick fur coats.
ann do u want to be a part of my crew aboard the intrepid?
I’m back from my vacation at Lake Michagin. I will now depart in the Ooei, for lands unknown. But I’ll have to tell Lizzie.
Rutabaga juice with cinnamon sticks in tea? Well, if that’s what you think. Bandit has been feeling a bit off… *whips up several cups. Takes one for her self and gives the other to bandit*
Jollyboats? Fun! (((by the way what are jollyboats? If ther’re up for greabs can I have the Key LIme?)))
I’ve built four jellyboats: olallieberry, mangosteen, cloudberry and apricot. They’re capacious enough to carry six adult LIR each. I’ve left them in a cove on the shores of Caesar Archipelago. Trouble is, I don’t remember which cove.
If you do find the jellyboats, bon voyage and bon appetit.
Aug. 16. We set off and got to Wild Dragon Point with fair weather and full supplies. Bob the Second is now in a Woodwyrm colony. We will reach the Caesar Archipelago tomorrow, as we could see the shores of Crouton Isle. Jollyboats are small ship’s boats that are used for exploration and, in emergencies, to get away from the ship.
148-certainly, as long as there is plenty of ale, pies and chochlate aboard!
Aug. 17. We reached the Caesar Archipelago today and found that it was inhabited by three intelligent species: primitive humans, horned moles with bushy tails, and Croutmen. A Croutman looks something like a crouton with legs, arms and beady black eyes on stalks. The Croutmen are mostly confined to Crouton Isle, and the humans live on Lettuce’s Isle. The horned moles, which live on Dressing Island, are the most intelligent. They may be related to the LIRs.
(155) – PC
I asked the LIRs if they knew of any relatives, but I didn’t get very far – language barrier, y’know.
Do the horned moles speak English (or whatever language I’m typing)? Do they speak LIRish? hmmm… they might be a good aquisition to my crew…
SHIP’S LOG
~~AUG. 17~~
After hearing of these jelly/jollyboats and horned moles, I have decided to head for Caesar Archipelago. I have no idea what the jelly/jollyboats are, but whatever, it’s all in the spirit of exploration…
otzi and mel have been suspiciously silent…
The horned moles speak LIRish, but that is Fluffy’s native language, so he acts as interpreter.
~
The HMs have commandeered the jellyboats. I warned them that the wrath of the GAPA shall fall upon them, but one of their tribal shamans(his name is Eekeeknurknur) gave me a demonstration of his power. The cramps have stopped, but my hair is still turquoise.
Decided to take off for a vacation to see Wild Dragon Point and Bob the Second.
Sailing on the smallish boat “Windwater” In 2 days.
Captin Canix! Bandit may be able to hep us procure the Jellyboats! From what I can tell, she isn’t afected by magic. And turquoise is a lovely color on you. Much better than my robins-egg blue.
(158) – PC
are the horned moles with you, or have they left the island without you?
so confuzzled.
and what are jellyboats?
No, Bella. Mel has been suspiciously silent. I have merely been in Canada.
I have been slowly piecing together the LIR language. The LIR society is a model of democracy, and they have elected one Tchsqueak as thier leader.
Aug. 18.
The horned moles are with us, sailing alongside. The Caesar Archipelago is the uttermost eastern edge of our maps. We are in truly uncharted territory now. Fortunately, Eekeeknurknur has summoned a crouton-scented wind that is speeding us onward. We are approaching a threatening cloudbank. Eekeeknurknur says that the horned moles have attempted to sail east, but their boats have always disappeared mysteriously
From The Practical Encyclopedia of Boats in the Unknown Territory:
Jellyboat
Jellyboats are jelly-filled jollyboats. They are useful for long journeys, as they provide the travelers with an endless supply of nourishment.
Jellyboat jelly has a curious effect on those who eat it. It would be interesting to know how the horned moles spend the next day. There’s often singing involved.
Aug. 19. Went through what is now called the Stormbelt, a mass of stomclouds blowing north from the Equator. Jellyboats lost, except for Cloudberry and Scirocco, due to masterful sailing and buoyant jelly. We’re shipping water, and the Black-footed Ferret had her mast struck by lightning, incinerating the sails. We are nearly out of supplies. Eekeeknurknur is sending up a distress signal. If you are reading this, you must have found it in a corked bottle floating on the waves. If you see a purple star in the east, sail for it quickly. You may be our only hope.<
Mango TEEEEka(Aug 19).Today we found a strange message in a forgien tongue floating in the water. Tiako was able to decifer it and said that it was a desstress call from the far east! If your reading this, then my faithful four-winged bird Rhinakoho, has found you. Our ship, the StormRunner is headed from you already. I hope we can reach you in time.
Aug 19 (cont.) After recieving the SOS from the Black Footed Ferret, we sent our supply ship, the Strawberry of the Seas back to the Isle de Mango, capital of the Five Fruits Archapelligo and my home. The StormRunner should reach the Stormbelt by late this evening.
Ships Log I
Left at about 6:30 this morning. Got cloudy early on but cleared up by noon. A good 8 hours to go before reaching “He Sleep as a Marmot”. Seas calm, but enough wind to go at a moderqate pace. Will write again when I reach HSAAM. \
The man for AEIOU: I thought that I was the featherian prime Muse.
119- I am going in thiotimoline spaceship the Answer (see Chronicles of Museica thread) to explore the possibility of lunar colonization. Does anyone want to come?
~
Aug 20. Our trip was delayed longger then we thought. As I write, the StormRunner enters the Stormbelt. I will give a brief history of myself, as I am starting my Ship’s Log.
My name is Travatan Oteino. My home is the Isle de Mango in the Five Fruits Archipelligo. The five islands there are: Mango, the capital, Banana, a 50 foot cliff that encompasses three quarters of the archipelligo, Orange, home to the greatest ship makers in the three seas, Apple, makers of the best apple pie anywhere, and pear, populated by vicous barbarians.
The StormRunner is true to her name. She is varised with mango juice, which has a similar effect to ruttabaga juice, her sails are made of a mango skin-metal alloy, making them innpenatrebable to lighting, and, she can be operated completly below deck.
We will have no trouble sailing the Stormbelt, if anything we will go faster. We will reach the Black Footed Ferret within two hours.
~~AUG. 20~~
Most unfortuante! We were sailing along this foggy, cold, miserable day, when an iceberg suddenly loomed out of the mist! Our LIR steersrodent managed to turn away, but not before the iceberg scraped the side of the boat. Otzi has patched the ship with edible blue, but we fear it will not hold.
The weather is extremely treacherous. In the fog, you see shapes that are not really there… phantom ships, birds flying, people running through the cloud… it is confusing. I do not blame ourselves that we did not see the iceberg.
I wish to sail on, as it has been a long time since we came across land… I only hope it is the right decision.
A warning to fellow captains – beware the North!
We do not require assistance – even if we did, i do not want to risk other ships being damaged as well.
Too tired to write last night. He Sleep as a Marmot is a charming little place, and not expensive either. My room was 2 Myoozez.
Anyway, been on the sea for about 5 3/4 hours, ought to reach Wild Dragon Point at about 4. Sunny skies, calm seas.
Ship’s Log III
Arrived at Wild Dragon Point to an awful sight. Three clans were fighting for claim of Wild Dragon Point! From what I could see, It was a lindworm clan(most likely the natives of the point), a clan of wyverns, and a clan of Asian Lungs. I am back at the ship now. Didn’t dare go up to the point in the condition it’s in. Captains, PLEASE sail here and help me end this terrible event.
Bring reinforcements. Wyverns are the largest species of dragon.
~
Aug 21. I fear I have been tricked. We have sailed in and out of stormbelt 3 times today and I’ve seen no sign of The Black Footed Ferret . There is a ship on the horizon though. I am deeply worried. The only ships known to make berth east of Stormbelt are those of dreaded pierates!
~~~~~~~~~~ship’s log~~~~~~~~~~~
Soon after Captain Bella gave the order to continue northward, a huge storm blew up–again– and I immediately ran belowdecks to double-check the edible-glue patch that was keeping us from sinking. Me is still skulking around, refusing to come out of her cabin. According to the LIRs, she is convinced I have a huge pie rigged above her door for when she comes out. I hope there is a good psychologist at the next port. I left some food next to her door and went to check on the LIRs, who are never good with storms. I found them all clumped together in thier cabin, looking a little seasick. Then the storm abruptly stopped.
We were no longer in the far north.
We were in….
the Cesar Archiepelago. In a small cove, to be exact.
With four Jellyboats.
(Thanks, Rosanne!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
182- You must be mistaken. Three of those jellyboats are at the bottom of the ocean, and the other one is in my fleet.
~
Aug. 21.
Thanks to the StormRunner’s crew, we are in good shape and are continuing our circumnavigation. Having passed the Stormbelt, we have unusually fair weather. Eekeeknurknur and his horned moles have parted company with us, leaving us a charmed crouton that controls the winds. They lashed the Cloudberry and the Scirocco together so as to make a sturdier ship with outriggers. The new ship’s name is Occorics Yrrebduolc, meaning “wave dancer” in Lirish.
182, 183 – It looks like Captain Bella and Otzi picked up the freshly built batch of replacement jellyboats.
*ships log of MUSE SS INTREPID August 22*
found island named Aois. friendly natives there. we traded them weapons and shiny things and they gave us a galleon that had been there for years. we outfitted it with cannons and repaired it a little bit. i have decided this ship shall belong to Ann / stowaway
unless someone else joins my fleet before she comes back.
the ship is to be called FyreWyrm.
recieved message from sunrunner and decided to help. started sailing and will be there in a couple hours. also some natives decided to become crew aboard the FyreWyrm but there is no captain yet.
Aug 22.
Today my telescope reveled that my suspisions were correct. The ship on the horizon bear’s a pierate flag. Oh Well. After helping the crew of the Black Footed Ferret , we continued our operations as planned. Today, when excavating a sunken ship, we found 8 barrels of pie-rum and a chest of golden jelly!
Where’s the ham? I spent half an hour reading the whole thing and NO HAM.
Miffed!
Huzzah! we have jellyboats! all thanks to a horrible storm…
since we are at the Caesar Archipelago, I am mounting an expedition to try and find something better to seal the hole in my ship with. I-
oh. too late. the LIRs already fixed it.
Poor Mel. I think she’s come down with a horrible inficition called “Skoole”.
According to maps given to me by DandelionsAreWildflowers (the librarian of Museica), the storm blew us waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
off couse – we traveled nearly halfway around the world to get here!
ah well. We will set out… TO THE SOUTH! *heroic music plays*
the LIRs will be happy to hear this – they didn’t like the northern stormy weather that much…
Wild Dragon Point is nearby – that is our next destination.
Never fear, Sunrunner!
just remember – never tickle a sleeping dragon.
Aug 22
We set off toward Wild Dragon Point after hauling the Jellyboats on deck. As soon as the LIRs caught sight of the different flavors of jelly threatening to overflow, they dissapeared belowdecks, reappearing later wit several large plate of steaming hot scones. They smelled so good that even Mel was tempted out of her cabin. YAY!!! we now are a complete crew again
~
Aug. 23. We got a chance to repay our debt to the StormRunner and her crew when Blackberrybeard attacked those valiant Quintifructian sailors in his ship, the Queen Rosanne’s Revenge. The battle looked like it might go either way until our gunners delivered a point-blank broadside of coconut creams. As the pierate ship sank, Blackberrybeard tried to row off in his jellyboat, but the colossal amount of treasure in it caused it to ride low in the water and become virtually immovable. We found the treasure to be comprised of an unfamiliar currency; small cubes of platinum-plated gold with intricate symbols on all sides. Could there be another civilization east of the Stormbelt?
A message from Eekeeknurknur was delivered by a large bat, possibly another LlR relative. The message runs thus:
/-/–_|\ _| /-_| ..*}{ _|__ — ….%
It is in the extremely complex Lirscript, which often uses one symbol for an entire sentence. Fluffy is deciphering it.
~~AUG 23~~
Today we sighted Wild Dragon Point – an awful sight indeed!
Unfortunately, none of my crew has experience with dragons (that I know of) – I only know their magicality can repel even the strongest stunning spells and that their weakness is the belly.
Sunrunner, we have come to help in any way possible! Please direct us to the best way.
Oh, wait, we got to close, a sail’s caught on fire! Water, water, we need water, get the fire out!
There. My point has been illustrated.
Please advise.
Aha! I can read that LIRScript! It’s all over our island. The message that you’ve received says: “Greetings! Come vist our island, Saskatoon Isle. We have a wide variety of resorts for the weary sea traveler and the best food in the world! Come and relax with us. Just keep going through the Storm Belt, and you’ll be there! Your friends, Eekeeknurknur.”
Hmm… seems to be an ad… I believe the large bat is not a relative of the LIRs, perhaps a native of Saskatoon Isle
I wouldn’t go to the resort if I were you – i don’t believe you can trust those hms… none of us LIRs are fond of them…
and besides – beyond the Storm Belt dwells the PURs! Pierating-Ugly-Rodents! A distant relative. very evil.
Eekeeknurknur is a good friend of ours, Skalayne. We can trust him. Fluffy thinks that Eekeeknurknur is being held captive on Saskatoon Isle by the Purs and the Pounds*. He was forced to send this message to trap us. One of the HMs must have been interrogated and revealed that we have Blackberrybeard’s treasure.
CALL TO ARMS!!! CALL TO ARMS!!! ASSAULT TO BE LAUNCHED ON SASKATOON ISLE!!!! ALL SHIPS WELCOME, AS LONG AS YOU HAVE PIE CANNONS!!!! WE SHALL RESCUE THE HORNED MOLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m sorry I havnt been keeping up with my sub’s log, but i suffered from an unexpected breakdown in the middle of the sea.
I have fixed my sub now, but I will probably not have a lot of time to keep up with my log. I havnt seen anything interesting here at the bottom of the sea except… swimming prairie dogs. At least, thats what i think they were. the water was very murky.
someone said something about wild dragons… do you think there will be sea dragons as well?
~
Aug. 25. Everyone aboard is very tense. We have oiled the pie cannons and outfitted all the crew with mango muskets and cranberry cutlasses. We are ready to assault Saskatoon Isle. Fluffy is rowing ahead in the jollyboat he confiscated from Blackberrybeard. He’s a six-foot tall, fanged prairie dog, so he should fit in well with the PURs.
All crews at Wild Dragon Point: Please send two of your most experienced officers to the Windwater for a short course in Dracology. I think the first thing we need to do is find the head of each of the clans.
*readys pie cannons at PC’s comand* Don’t worry, Eekeeknurknur, we never leave a man, er, horned-mole behind. Ah, it’s times like these I wish I had Istar, my giant pie-polar bear. He would be good at a time like thish. *polishes Bandit’s teeth and sharpens her claws*
How can I join? I feel as this is too late to join. I must have been at camp when this all started but I really want to join! Skipper, can I join your ship?
Listen, mates! A castaway, adrift for weeks, begging to be saved from the sea. Who’ll bring her aboard?
You could come aboard Skipper’s ship but it hasn’t left the port… SKIPPER! Where are you!?
E~A,
I was talking about you. You’re the castaway, begging to be brought aboard a ship. Aren’t you?
~
Aug. 26. Fluffy has radioed back from Saskatoon Isle. It is, indeed, populated by PURs and Pounds. He has been taken on aboard the Gnaf, the ship where the horned moles are imprisoned. The captain, Eekrowl, is planning to capture us and take our treasure. He will be in for a surprise. As soon as Fluffy gets the horned moles off the Gnaf, he will send up a flare and we will bombard the PUR ship.
Today, we found a desolate castaway who had been marooned by the cruel captain Summercamp. She is free to come aboard our ship, but we will shortly be sailing into danger.
~
A short course in Dracology:
Most dragons will attack with fire, teeth, claws, and tail. Find the leader of the European dragons first. They have language abilities, and like to talk whenever possible.
198- Join my spaceship! I still need a crew. See post 175. We’re (well, only me so far, so I’m) going to explore the theory that the pies flung at the moon have created an atmosphere. Please?
I’m very good at Dragonology, but we’re no where near them at the moment. We’re on a rescue mission!
202-Cap’n, what kind of weapons does the enemy ship have? Maybe we could disable them somehow!
201 oh right, yes please bring me aboard! I’m running out of books to read!
~
Aug. 27. The castaway has locked herself in a spare cabin with the entire literary component of the ship. Even though I have the key, I will leave her alone- I know what it’s like to be book-starved. Horrible hallucinations of libraries floating just out of reach.
The Gnaf is on the horizon. Really a beautiful ship, but ill-used by her captain. Our pie cannons are primed.
Flare going up!
~
ALL RIGHT! LOAD UP KEY LIMES AND FIRE AT WILL!!!!!!
*loads pie cannon*
*fires at enemy ship*
Bad news, Captin Canix(((by the way that sounds cool. Captain Canix… shweet.)))! There’s some sort of coating on her, the cannonballs just slip off! It looks like some kind of soap!
208- The castaway, though happy reading, slips a note under the door of the library. It reads “what is the name of this beautiful ship that I am now a gratefull passenger on?”
209- I think that they must also have a shaman, otherwise they could not have kept Eekeeknurknur captive. Let’s see how they stand up to a magical tornado.
*raises Crouton of the Winds*
YES! THEY’RE SINKING!
FIRE KOKONUT KREAMS!
~
Aug. 28.
As the pierate ship sank(the sea battle had lasted all night), Eekeeknurknur and Fluffy struggled off the jellyboat Dipsucib with twenty horned moles, the remainder of their number. We commandeered the jellyboat and started sailing east again.
~
210- You are aboard the Black-footed Ferret, a privateer ship on a circumnavigation voyage.
All trrops at Wild Dragon Point: We approach the point at dawn. BRING NOTHING except a sheet of paper and a pencil, and a fireproof cape.
Jadestone: Did you ever read “Dragonology” by Sir Ernest Drake?
212- Hmm… I’ve read a few dragonology books. can’t remember the authors, though. Lesse… one of the ones I read during a book fair(didn’t buy it, but my friend did) had a fold out map, and another I thought was cool was really just a bunch of letters from someone with descriptions and really beautifl artwork, and there was one or two more, I think. Dunno, was it one of those?
Oh my…
a battle to rescue the HMs…
and a battle to stop dragons…
…
Today Skalayne the LIR departed from us. As she is kin of the HMs and foe of the PURs and Pounds, she wishes to take part in the rescue…
Prarilius Canix, she shall be taking a jellyboat along with a few other LIRs to Saskatoon Isle. I hope she can help.
Ahoy, Captian Canix!
I have made it to Saskatoon Isle – you should be able to see my ship just beyond the horizon
how can I help? My boat is fairly small and equipped with eight sniper jelly cannons
Someone?
It didn’t work!
Hopefully, you know what I mean.
Hmmm… A giraffe?
Ahoy there! Capitan! (I was first mate in the last thread)
Ahoy! No need, Skalayne, we have already rescued the HMs.
Aug. 30. We are apparently approaching land. Fluffy got very excited when he saw it, but he didn’t tell me why. Perhaps it is where he originally came from?
It seems like such a long time since I have seen Museica. I think all of us will be very happy to see it again.
I’m wondering about the mysterious apparition called “Penty”. Why did she instruct us to sail west? I guess we won’t find out- we’re going east.
We have been at sea for nearly a month now. We probably won’t get back until December.
~
Jadestone: I think it is.
Found safe place to camp for the night on WDP. Locate leaders tomorrow.
Captain Prarilius Canix:
I would like very much to join your crew. As you have no LIRs aboard your ship, I believe I could help you on your journey. If you don’t want me and my crew, we’ll leave and head back to Bella…
~~Ship’s Log~~
Reminded by Canix, I have decided to head west. The only problem is, my crew has either left to join Canix or come down with the horrible sickness of Skool. Pity…
And where IS the one known as Penty? hasn’t posted here for so long…
~~Ship log~~
We spotted land today, everyone seems to be coming down with back-to-school-dread-itis, including me. It’s good we found land, maybe we’ll be able to find the cure there!
-First Mate Capricious
(Bwuahahaha…)
I’ll sail with you Ms. Lestrange. Weeks ago, Blackberrybeard the pierate destroyed my ship and abandoded me at Wild Dragon Point. I seek only revenge, but if you do chose to rescue me, i own a map of considerable interest.
Terrance is coming down w/ it too, so I have to type 4 him.
What in _____ is a Moosy?
-Remmor Tancet
(225) – Travatan
Trav, I would be honored if you would join. You don’t mind if I call you Trav, do you?
~~Ship’s Log~~
After picking up Trav from Wild Dragon Point, we sailed for a while. There are many sand bars in this area, so we must be very careful. We also picked up a message in a bottle, but the writing was in a foreign language (not LirScript) and the ink was smeared, so we could not read it.
i dont have enough time for this blog anymore (because of homework) so bellatrix i give you the INTREPID the KOKO and the
FyreWyrm as long as you dont rename them.
ill be back on on another blog probably.
228 not at all
perhaps we should take this to the librarian…
Sep. 1. We are within sight of a coastal city that seems to be populated by LIRs and their relatives. A small fishing boat was sent out to meet us. With Fluffy acting as translator, we discovered that they knew of a treatment for the dreaded Skoolitis. To make it, one mixes 2 parts Weekendiol with 1 part Finnishhomwerkin. This will keep the disease from becoming fatal. They are working on a cure which will be fully developed in approximately 9 months, called Summurvakeashunol. We will probably reach the city(it is called Nurik) within a few hours
~
~
Nurik is a prosperous city that started as a fishing village. We are going ashore to explore. I got some strange looks from the LIRs, probably because they had never seen a human(much less one with turquoise hair) before. Seeing a small fruit-seller’s stall, I went over to it. Not knowing the LIR currency, I picked up a blue mango and set down 5 of the cubes we had *ahem* borrowed from Blackberrybeard, hoping they would be enough.
The LIR looked at the money.
He looked at me.
He gave me every single bit of his merchandise, including the stall, as well as 50 silver cubes in change.
I do believe we are rich.
Located leader of European Dragons, named Shimmerwing. Told us that the war was no more than a dispute for land, becuase the Musers were taking away their land. Will sail back to Museaica tomorrow to take up the idea of a preserve with the Prime Musers.
telageram from musia-
September 3rd:
I ought to save paper, but I feel I must keep writing or I will find myself entirely without activity and thus without hope.
I set out a month or more ago on a noble ship manned by the finest adventurers of Museica available for hire at the time. We were sent to seek distant lands and bring back what information (and treasure to fund the new civilization) we could. Our sponsors in Museica filled our ship with all kinds of supplies of the highest quality and a well-stocked treasury so that we would be able to give gifts and barter in the new lands, hopefully winning their peoples’ favor.
We soon found ourselves pursued by pirates. They were led by the notorious Blackberrybeard, who, running low on supplies after recent defeats, came seeking our provisions. Our ship was swift and we managed to lose our foes for most of the way, but when the pirates caught up to us at last there were too many of them to fight off. Our ship was burned, our provisions stolen, and our crew taken prisoner, forced to serve Blackberrybeard or die.
I alone, the mere cabin girl, managed to slip away unnoticed. Making sure Blackberry wouldn’t come back for me, I stayed out of sight, climbing aboard the largest plank from our wrecked ship (Blackberrybeard destroyed the ship, the only thing for which he had no use) I could find once the pirate ship was a safe distance away.
That is where I am now. I have managed to survive on rainwater, the contents of an abandoned keg of pie rum, and whatever food I can find, mostly edible seaweed, a peculiar plant. Most species taste like lettuce, but occasionally I’ve found crunchier leaves that taste vaguely like croutons. Now the flavor has changed, but I can’t quite place the taste. Does this mean I’ve drifted beyond even the distant Caesar Archipelago?
It’s getting colder. It’s a good thing I salvaged this nice, craunched-marmouset-fur coat. This makes me think back to Museica and wonder how things are going there. I had made it known that I was interested in assuming the responsibilities of a V-PM if a position became available, but without my ship’s communication devices there is no way for me to find out whether I did become a V-PM or not. If I am saved I must find a way to contact Museica from the new ship.
I could use a pie right now. How long has it been since I’ve had one? I don’t know how much longer I can survive like this. Fortunately, I might be saved! Today there was heavy fog, but I could have sworn I saw the outline of a ship, which got clearer the closer I drifted and the lighter the fog got. I thought I was halllucinating, but now I’m not so sure.
I’m drawing closer as I write this. I don’t know quite how long I’ve been drifting or even where I’ve drifted to at this point, but I do know that there is a ship close to me. I can just about read the name now…”Sweet Tiramisu”. I wave as I write, calling out.
“Hullo there! SOS, lend a hand to another sailor?”
I am but a cabin girl. My only training has been my time at sea, so the only art I’ve learned is service. All I can offer to the ship that will take me is work, but I am an adventurer bent on seeing the world and I’m willing to work hard to accomplish this goal. Just tell me what to do and I’ll do whatever needs to be done as best as I can do it.
Will the good ship I’ve accosted take me aboard?
As a very *ahem* qualified ship’s doctor, I would advise a chocolate sundae with hot fudge, sprinkles and whipped cream as a cure to Back-To-School-Itis.
(235) – EtA –
I will take you aboard! My crew no longer posts…
Welcome to “The Sweet Tiramisu”! (that’s my ship)
