O, bunnies, I have longed to stand among your ranks and fight by your side (even though I hate pink). Musebloggers, will the bunnies not honor us if we aid them? They are actually dying, being shot, arrowed, sliced, and chopped by men who hate pink or bunnies (or both). I have waited for this opportunity for.. for… virtually forever. I need two assitants: one who is good at hacking into Google Earth, and one who is extremely skilled in stealth, plus is also friends with the hot-pink bunnies.
If all humans keep attacking the bunnies, and then, if by some miracle, aliens come to the aid of the bunnies, they will overthrow us. If we are nice to them, however, they will let us share their power and we shall overthrow the humans who loathe the bunnies. Because to be a Muser means to be a hot-pink-bunny lover (see last page of January ’07), and to love a dying species means you will fight for their cause.

No srsly. I am hoping that some Muser (and one with a really awful sense of humor) has hacked the blog and this will all be remedied soon. Because it’s better than believing that the OEADs, whom I worship as e-gods, would do this to my beloved blog.
I’m sure I sound like some old bitter curmudgeon, spoiling all your spammy fun. But I like Museblog because it’s an intelligent place, where people get yelled at for being pointless. And now I see the PoPoPos, and the OEADs, and the blog itself, turning into a glorification of pointless.
I think this bothers me so much because I’m stuck in the past, at least blog-wise. Unless I am very much mistaken, we did not do this last year. And even if we had, I doubt there would be seven threads full of the exact same spam about it. We would have probably carried on with our daily blogging routines, perhaps with extra bunny-related comments. That’s fine. I’m all for April Fool’s Day jokes. But this is what we like to call in Pentyland ‘going too far.’ Even the people who claim to be anti-bunny (yes, including me) are talking solely about the bunnies. Frankly, it’s boring. And Museblog is the last place I would ever expect to be boring.
And what bothers me most is that the bunnies seem to be a symptom of a bigger problem, especially on the random threads. The blog is losing its sense. Insanity may be fun, but so is intelligence, and the latter is slowly being pulled away from us. We shouldn’t need a PoPoPo. We should be able to have actual discussions on the random thread, even if they are random. Up until now, the OEADs have done a great job accomodating the spammers, giving us discussion threads and the like, but I hate being segregated from my fellow Musers just because I like to talk to people rather than get headaches reading incoherent post after incoherent post. And if you have something important to say not within the scope of the discussion thread, you have to turn to the Spam Pit, where there’s such an overflow of totally pointless posting and so little coherent discussion that you might not even get a response. It wasn’t always this way.
If I remember correctly, MG left for a lot of reasons, but a major one was the loss of a blogular community that she felt like she could be a part of. I think a similar thing is going on here, except I see us splitting into a bunch of different communities. There are the bloggers who can’t find their shift keys, the snarky elitist oldbies, the wannabe snarky elitist oldbies, the people who think every post has to contain something political. There’s so little interaction between the separate groups that doesn’t descend into complaints about each other’s group. (Yes, I am guilty of this too.) We are losing our sense of community.
And if it takes bunnies to bring us together under one big pink banner of stupidity and spam, I’m not sure that this is a blog I want to be a part of.
I don’t have many illusions about what will happen if I leave. My departure will not be lamented by the masses. It will not bring about huge waves of repentance. I don’t expect it to. If I leave, I will leave because I can no longer have fun here, and that is all. Selfish? Of course.
I’m just stuck in the past, I’m just ruining your fun, I’m just raining on your sickeningly pink parade, right? I don’t mean to be a spoilsport, though by now I’m sure I am. If this is as fun as normal blogging for you, then so be it. I mean to make my point, and I suppose I also mean to make you think.

Penty (181) – I agree with you on mostly everything. THF and I have had long discussions about the future of the blog, and have been seriously considering leaving as well. But I don’t really mind the HPB April-fool’s day joke. I think the GAPAs are having some fun, and I think the bunny joke is funny. I do think it’s been going on a long time, and is getting really dull and annoying, but I’m almost positive it will be gone tomorrow.
People are getting really peeved about this, GAPAs, so could you switch the blog back to normal? I like April Fools jokes, but carrying this one on for an entire day seems like overkill. Rosanne has escaped the bunnies, so maybe the pink madness will soon end. Please.

I’m still on the run. The bunnies are nowhere to be seen but I’m going to keep moving just in case. I’m cautiously optimistic that their powers are waning, though. What I meant to continue with was that everyone is trying to do their best to accomodate everyone else, especially those who complain about pointless posting and the like. I’m just wondering what else you expect people to do, what else you expect to happen as a result of this sort of attitude. I don’t want to sound condescending or mean, but you seem to come back to the theme that you are annoyed with the bunnies later in the post. If it’s the bunnies that have set you off, come back tomorrow. If you truly feel that the blog is going downhill, you have to make the choice of whether to leave or not, and in my personal opinion you’re exaggerating the situation. I don’t want you to leave and I have nothing against you personally. Please just calm down and see how you feel once the bunnies are gone. You have to be rational.
