The United States stands almost alone in writing the date March 14 numerically as 3-14. Change the hyphen to a period, and you have the first three digits of pi. Contrived, yes — but any excuse for a party, we say.
(Tau-ists, please hold your peace. Your day will come.)
PARTY!!!!!! *is hyper*
On a more sobering note, I wished my classmate happy Pi Day today. She was confused, so I explained that today’s date is 3-14, and the first three digits of pi are 3.14. To which she replied, “I still don’t get it. Is that like some pagan thing?”
It makes me sad.
She was clearly mispronouncing pi-gan.
Is she Australian?
How dreadful!
A lot of people know about it here, ’cause the Grand Traverse Pie Co. offers free pie today.
Here’s Vi Hart’s contribution to the day:
HERE HERE!
Well, hello there, TMFA! Long time no 2πr!
That is the best horrible pun I’ve heard in a very long time.
GAPAs FTW!
Hidden talent?
If only he would hide it once in a while.
I believe you mean τr.
…okay, semi-convinced. Semi.
Happy Pi Day!!!!!!!!!
FWEEPIDAYPIDAY!!!!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! *throws PiPies*
I’m *trying* to convince my mom to let us have a PiPie party (aka, we all throw PiPies at each other, make PiPies, and play PiPie tag in which one person is Kokopelli and throws PiPies at everyone else).
IT’S NOT WORKING SO FAR.
That’s too bad. It sounds fun. I had part of a PiPie today, but that was the only opportunity I got to really celebrate. I was planning to meet my online friend for the first time and celebrate with her, but unfortunately, it rained, and we’d planned to go to a park, so we’re doing it tomorrow instead, and it won’t be pi-themed anymore.
To celebrate it, my brother’s school gave the students doughnuts. For pi day.
Oh, and happy pi day, by the way!
I wouldn’t disdain doughnuts. After all, they have three circumferences: inner, outer, and cross-sectional.
HAPPY PI DAY!!!!

Too bad about your plan not working; it sounds great.
And Bibliophile, you can celebrate with doughnuts too! They have even MORE ways to use Pi than the tradtional fruit-or-custard-filled comestible! And if you can’t honor Kokopelli, at least you’re honoring Feather! But here’s a virtual pie too:
PI!PIE IS IN. THE. OVEN.
Happy pie day! The video on tau confused me, mostly becacause I haven’t been taught some of the stuff she was talking about.
HAPPY PI DAY!!!!!!!!!!

. They gave it to everyone grades 5-12, and it was a speed test with a bunch of basic math problems.
My school decided that to celebrate pi day they would give a surprise math quiz (No, seriously, they said it was to celebrate pi day) which had nothing to do with pi.
My lament of the day: during important (and especially lesser-known) holidays, I usually get a piece of binder paper in the shape of a square, draw a box with the date in the upper left-hand corner, the way it looks on a calendar square, and in the blank space I write “HAPPY [NAME OF HOLIDAY]!” in really big letters, and tape it to the front of my shirt. Today, as I was walking around with my Pi Day sign, FOUR people asked me what Pi Day was! And when I explained it, THREE of them didn’t recognize pi! A TRAVESTY!
In other news, on guy who DID know about Pi Day, and had previously seen my sign for National Hate Day, asked if I knew about all the holidays. My response was only the ones I hear about on MuseBlog, so in order to say it so he would know what I was talking about, I said “No. Just the most important ones.”
Happy Pi Day, everybloggy!
Happy Pi Day!
My math teacher forgot, but I made raspberry pie for dinner.
Quite a few of my IRL friends have come out today as tau supporters. I didn’t realize so many of them have seen the light of mathematical correctness.
Vi Hart is very persuasive.
None of them have seen her site, though. I did share the Tau Manifesto a number of months ago, but no one responded to it in any way. I guess they just took their time mulling it over?
IT’S OFFICIAL! I know Pi Day is kinda over, BUT. I’m having an (albeit belated) PiPie party on the weekend! YES!!!! MY DAY HAS COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*beats self over head with a PiPie tin and bottle of whipped cream* Okay, all better.
Vi has made me realize, at the end of her video, that i can just support pi and tau. Pi is fin to memorize, and eat, and tau is fun to do actual math with. That way, pi and tau can be friends, and everyone gets more holidays to celebrate. Peace between pi and tau!
For pi day, I went to Petsy’s pies, a bakery near my house, and recited digits of pie for free pies. Delicious!
I was only reminded of it 7th period that day.
WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I have finally watched Vi Hart’s Tau video, and I must say that I am officially a convert. TEAM TAU!!!!!
I completly forgot pi day. *hides and sobs*
WE HAD THE PIPIE PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
…Well, okay, the pies were like five inches across, tops. And we only got one each. BUT STILL.
Congratulations! It sounds awesome! What did you do, besides what you mentioned already?
Speaking of which, I dreamed that I that I joined this really awesome, Muserly club-type thing, except that for some reason my not-Muserly-at-all ex-best friend was here, which was strange. As I expected, she didn’t enjoy it much, unfortunately. Anyway, we had a belated Pi Day Party in the dream, too! On March 37. Yes, that’s right, the 37. All we did was eat a plethora (I’m trying to say plethora instead of lot now, because it’s such a great word) of candy and do math and watch interesting whale-related videos (just don’t ask) and read books and talk about pie, but it was fun! I wish the group was real.
Hey, guys, where’d the Pie Wars thread go? A friend wants to know.
Anyway, this friend’s thinking about joining MuseBlog, but she can’t think of a username. Can anyone help? She likes books (all kinds, but she likes Harry Potter (and wants to be a Ravenclaw)), Avatar: The Last Airbender, dogs, and singing and dancing~
Here’s the most recent Pie War, which ground to a halt last October:

Hm… Maybe your friend could call herself Rowena, or the Grey Lady.
thanks for the name!
Welcome, Grey Lady!
Welcome to the MuseBlog. Feel free to stop by the neophytes thread for pies and advice!

HeyHiHello! Welcome to MuseBlog, where insanity is the norm! Being a Harry Potter lover gets you some credit with me.
I don’t know if she’s going to be on, really – but Lady here does get Muse, so I’ll see if I can remind her about this. :3
TIPS FOR FIRST-TIME COSPLAYERS:
1. Never work with fabric paint on netting. It’s hard to work with.
2. Fabric paint also will not come off clothing. Try at your own risk, and the risk of smudging.
3. If you try the method I did of painting symbols, please try not to work with weird tape and complicated symbols. It only brings pain.
… :I
What were you doing?
I’m going to Megacon as Jade Harley from Homestuck, and this is my first time making a costume, so. Um.
Fabric paint is evil.
Oh. What does that have to do with Pi Day?
It doesn’t.
Clearly I was drunk last night on coffee. XD I thought this was the Random Thread. GAPAs, could you move posts 18-20 to the Random Thread?
In a word, nope.
