  1. wOOt! wOOt! First post!!! Hopefully….Let’s see..July….I don’t really like the weather, where I am, it feels like a sauna some days, and great others. I prefer cold weather. It’s not such a happy time for me now; I just found out our family is moving an hour and a half away, and I either have to try to start at my new school, or enter eighth grade at my old school, and switch later on.
Anyway, I have no idea if this has anything to do with the old threads…darn, I probably should have checked. Let me know if I’m way off, O.K.?

  2. Well, it’s fixed now anyway.

I had a question for the GAPAs earler, but I don’t remember what it was. It was really random…

  3. I just read that the authors of Sorcery and Cecelia wrote it by writing letters to each other without mapping out the plot at all. It would seem they didn’t know a thing about the story when they were writing it.

  5. 9- Oh yes, I can just imagine you, skulking about in a trench-coat, with henna on your hands…

Dunno where that came from. Maybe I should use it for a villain sometime…

  6. 9- Or were you saying I could be a stalker? Or does it even matter? *shrug* Lessee… If I was a stalker I don’t think I’d have henna on my hands.

Has anyone noticed that three periods in a row does something strange? Namely, it squashes them so that they look like dashes, not periods. … . . .

  7. 1-from my friend who can, ive heard 15. not to be discouraging or anything :P.
gawd. stop stereotyping stalkers. personally i feel that the threat of being “stalked” is much overblown by the media. how many real instances of stalkage vs how many people use the internet? its fairly simple not to give one’s phone number or adress away in a chatroom, or any type of live chat.personally, i would feel safe posting my adress, phone number, aim, email, and full name on here.
AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT
im going to denmark tomorrow(today, whatever.) yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. 1-isn’t it just like riding without hands? which i do half the time now anyway. couldn’t do that for years, then all of the sudden i had perfect balance and could do everything i can do with hands, except getting off (i have to kind of jump off, my brakes are messed) and going up sidewalks (or other big bumps like that, but that’s the only big enough one i can think of)

it’s kind of a thing here…people are always reading or text messaging on their bikes, or riding to the store and riding back with arms full of stuff…cuz we pretty much bike everywhere…

10-why henna? i like henna. my parents don’t get mad about it like they do when i draw all over myself in pen. With henna, they’re not like “ohnoezzzzzz ink poisoning”

haha, i remember monty and i had a conversation once where we basically both pretended to be stalkers and tried to lure the other to wherever…that was funny.

HARRY EATS THE HORCRUX! HORCRUXES ARE ONLY DESTROYED USING STOMACH ACID! BUT THEN HARRY THREW UP! OH NO!

  17. Did they get my last e-mail? The rule of thumb is like this: 10:00 – meet at B&N. 11:00 – tours start. 12:45 – lunch at National Press Club. 2:00 – afternoon activities. Beyond that, we improvise.

  18. I am a crazy, crazy person.

so i’m sure i’ve told you all numerous times about my lack of sleep this summer? that plus various other fun stuff set me kind of on edge, and i was getting into that weird state, somewhat like boredom, where i desperately needed to do something but couldn’t think of anything i really wanted to do. I wandered upstairs to look for a book but there wasn’t anything i hadn’t read a bazillion times (besides deathly hallows, but having just read it twice in a row, i really think that wouldn’t be any better) Then i was like “Oh yeah…i was gonna go to the library…” I wandered downstairs and saw the comp, kindly informing me that it was 5:43 on Saturday, July 21st. There was an “oh [insert fav swear here]” moment, as i realized the library would be closing at 6

Now normally, i’d say “screw it, i can go tomorrow, i’ll just watch a movie or freak out the pedophile’s on facebook or something” but i didn’t even stop to think…i just got this weird feeling that i absolutely had to get to the library. So i scribbled a note on the whiteboard, grabbed my bike and rode off like all hell was after me. Haven’t ridden that fast since the time i fell asleep and was fifteen minutes late for a tech rehearsal (fortunately, nobody noticed, they were all so busy. At the tech rehearsal i mean. but i’m getting off topic.) I left my bike unlocked in back by the capital field, which was an extremely stupid thing to do, but i figured i wouldn’t be more than five minutes. I knew the librarians always wanted people to get the books up to the desk by 5:45, but it was a bit late for that.

I didn’t know what i was going to get, but i didn’t have much time so i went down to the kid’s section to continue the avalon series, which i had started just before i started re-reading harry potter, so i wasn’t far along. I couldn’t find the next book, so i just grabbed a random one (i am forever doomed by impatience to read series books out of order) and a Bellairs that was sitting next to it that i just grabbed on a slightly panicked impulse. I ran upstairs and looked at my watch, expecting it to be like two minutes away from closing, but the entire thing had taken less than ten minutes, so i still had about eight minutes left before closing. I rode back at a normal speed (ie, slower) and got home, and now i haven’t even touched the books, just rambled about them to you guys. Insanity-gotta love it.

  20. 28-oh hey, i’d forgotten about that! Caspian used to be one of my favs…guess it still is sort of, but it gets worse the more you grow to understand the sneaky symbolism, same as the rest of the narnia books. before lamuth i used to love them though.

  23. 2 – Same here! I guess it doesn’t really get all that hot where I live compared to other places, but the weather does turn humid in July. This is also when the mosquitoes are at their worst. I definitely prefer winter.

8 – Sounds fun! I’d offer, but I’m notoriously bad at keeping up with writing. I don’t even check my e-mail much anymore.

12 – So far I haven’t worried about stalkers on Museblog. I still wouldn’t give out my address, full name or phone number just in case, but this blog does seem much safer than most places online.

    Have a great trip!

18 – Must be nice! There’s a fair number of bikers in my city, but there are no bike lanes, so getting around is a bit tricky, especially for those brave souls who venture out onto country roads.

    22 – Welcome!!! *cherry pies*

26 – Is that the Avalon series about the girls with the magic stones in the magic woods? That’s a very vague description, but I can’t think of the characters’ names at the moment.

Isn’t it weird that when we go away from the blog for a day, and come back to find all sorts of posts happened in our absence. (No, that’s not weird, I’m getting to it.) We reply to these posts as though we were actually speaking to the people who wrote them, while the people who wrote them are doing something completely different and not even thinking about it. It’s like in Rodney Appleseed, when Rodney left a message on his friend’s answering machine saying that in Rodney’s now he was lost and standing a phone booth, and in his friend’s now, he was home eating dinner. It’s just weird.

    Pie 0

  74. (101) Axa, I don’t know how much customizing you want to do in Photoshop, but you can drag any of the tabs off the palettes and move them where you want, either to stand alone or to nest in a different palette (although some don’t resize very well). Under the Windows menu, you can toggle palettes on and off. When you get the layout you like, you can save the workspace, also via the Windows menu. You can save multiple workspaces if you like.

There are also options for various items under Edit / Preferences. But sometimes the software gets cranky and everything has to be reset to defaults, which is most annoying.

Other tweaks and twiddles exist but those are the main ones I’ve discovered so far. Photoshop does not seem to be nearly as customizable as some other graphics programs I’ve used. The above applies to CS2. CS3 may have more possibilities.

Well, I have just went through an adventure. My dad, sister, and I just saved a snake from being entangled in some netting in my garden. My Dad held down the snakes head with a forked stick and I held down its body while my sister cut away the netting with scissors. It was all very exciting, especially when I had to hold down the snakes head when my sister cut of a nasty wire close to the snakes head. I felt bad for the snake. In some places, the netting was so tight around it, that scars were left behind from the places the wires bit into the snake’s skin.

  81. I need to clean my room. It has been through a couple sleepovers, so its quite a mess. But luckily its not a pigsty, becuase the only time I go in there is when I am upset, when I sleep, and when my friends come over to sleepover. Its ALL PURPLE!!!!!! I love it, the ceiling meets at the top, you know like the top of the house, i am right under that, so we put loose fabric on it, its pretty. But as soon as my parents let me I am going to re do it. The cieling with have loose blue fabrice, with fake leafy vines all over it, and white christmas lights (or dark blue if possible) mixed in. And then the walls will be a pretty green, my bed will be brown, I will have a cool mushroom looking table, and it will be all foresty, fantasy, naturish. I am excited. But that wont happen for awhile, becuase we have been to Mexico, and are going to New York for the Macy’s parade all in one year. We splurged.

On th topic of what our rooms look like, I have blue walls and some sponge-painted light clouds in one corner, they’re sort of thin though. My closet has all my precious j-rock posters on it, one which I got today in the mail XD I also have this cool thing that’s supposed to be my name in Chinese although I have no knowledge of how names are romanized, but it looks cool at least. :D

My room is boring, and besides that as messy as it is possible to get. (Most of that’s my sister’s fault, though.)

My dorm room, when I live there, is somewhat neater because a) my sister doesn’t live with me and b) I have less crap to spread all over the floor. It also has pictures of hawt azn boiz in it, which is always a plus.

…wait. It is 1:33. Why am I awake?

I was shocked one day when I went to my friend’s house. We were working on a project together and whenever we finished with something, my friend would just throw the supplies on their room floor, insisting that they would get to picking it up later. It was all I could do not to grab it all and out it into a neat pile in my friend’s cupboard!

I am bitter about the way my room looks.
I wanted it to have forest-green walls, but mom said it’d be too dark, so instead it’s all tan that you cant even tell is colored unless you look at where the wall meets the ceiling.
VF wanted blue, but again, mom said it’s be too dark so she got light yellow,
Mom said we could definatly, definatly choose our bathroom color. We wanted light green, not quite lime but bright, but itstead she had it painted a pinkish tan.
The prt that really gets me is that her room is now darkish blue. Grr.

  87. THE INCREDIBLE DESCRIPTION OF RtH’S ROOM IF YOU ARE INTERESTED BUT PROBABLY NOT

Ok, so my house is a cape cod, so not many of my walls are without some sort of slanted part…my bed is in the dormer window, and on the right side is a low little closet that conects to my parents’ room. We keep Christmas decorations in there. On the left side, there are three DEEP built-in drawers, and they are almost always very cold or very hot, depending upon the season. You can’t really look ut of the dormer window, because I have a huge bookshelf full of stuffed animals up against it. In front of the Christmas closet, there is an ikea ergonomic chair that a stuffed crane and a bear are sitting in, with my blanket from when I was little over them. Yes, you have to move them when you want to sit down… My dresser is against the side wall near the drawers. To the left of that, there is a side window, and that’s where my drawing table is. I can look out of that window, and it’s nice to be able to when I’m sitting there. On the wall opposite my bed, there are two low bookshelves, with mostly books and a couple of animals, and a radio/tape player/CD player but the CD part is broken. On that wall, on the corner near the table is the door to my “closet’, but the slant of the roof makes it really only half. Zooming to the other corner on that wall, that’s the door you come in. On the wall next to it, where the ikea chair is, there is also a huge bookshelf, with mostly books and other stuff I had to get off of the floor. The vent thing for the air/heat is to te right of that, and opposite of it, behind my drawing table, is the vent for the air to go back out.

North is out the side window, sort of.

THIS MARKS THE END OF BORINGNESS. IT IS SAFE TO COME OUT NOW.

    Thank you for your time.

  89. Meh, my room is pretty clean, I guess. I don’t really spend much time there, except for sleeping and reading. Speaking of which, books make up all of the miscellaneous clutter. There are hundreds stacked (neatly) against the wall, and I haven’t seen my desk for the majority of two years.

I wish my house had a secret passage or room. Which issue of Muse was the one about the secret passages and monk hidey-holes, anyway?

  90. My room, in too much detail:

Very light blue-green walls (I wanted them darker, you can barely tell they’re colored)
Wall opposite door: Bed in corner farthest from the door. Bed has green or blue-green sheets, depending on random variables. Long side of bed goes along this wall, with pillow in farthest corner from door. At foot of bed: green trunk covered in papers. Mess overlaps from it to the bookshelf which is on the wall at a right angle to this one, on the left hand side of the room if you’re entering. The bookshelf is white. The three shelves are overflowing with books and it’s almost impossible to reach. On top of it I have some stuff, including but not limited to my MathCounts trophy from last year, rocks and minerals of the world, and a stuffed IBM bee.

Next to the bookshelf, on one side there’s the corner of the wall with the bed, on the other side there are four green, clear, blue, clear crates, holding vaguely school-related things. There’s a small space of wall, then a large closet (enter at your own peril). Then you’ve reached the corner, and the door is right at this corner. Next to the door, on the other side, there’s a small, perpetualy open cedar chest holding clothes. Next to that is a small thing I use as a table with two drawers of clothes in it. It’s covered in clutter. Next to that, in a corner, is my desk. It holds many random things. Notable is the old Barbie speaker I use when a speaker is necessary, and most of my CDs. A power strip is on the side farther from the door, and it has, right now, only the computer’s cable, although iPod and cellphone at times go here. There’s a blank space in the middle of the desk, because I’m sitting typing this with my laptop on the bed, for reasons to be disclosed later. The desk is designed to fit in a corner. It’s made out of light wood. The door+closet door are made out of medium wood. On the last wall, one of the two the desk is in the corner of, there’s another table-with-drawers, on which notable items include: cellphone (off), iPod+battery pack for it, microphone, digital clock, and lamp with blue-green shade that’s part of iPod speakers for times I want better quality or don’t have to move outside my room. This is next to my bed.

Floor: Tornado zone. Right now, I’m lucky there’s a path from my bed to the door. Noticeable things on the floor: chair, meant for desk, holding remains of duct tape dress. Dodecahedron head from last year’s play. On the walls: above bed, three posters. One of the moon (air+space museum), one of a unicorn tapestry (from The Cloisters, a met museum), one of a Chagall painting (the museum in Nice, France). Above the green trunk is a window with closed blinds and open curtains, which have blue and green stripes. Above the bookshelf are the two highest average awards I’ve recieved from school in the past two years. Above my desk: poster of Calder sculpture-thing (The Arch) from somewhere probably too local to say here. Poster from that IBM campaign, what makes you special. It’s dark and has a list in bright colors, not similar, not obvious, etc. above the question, What makes you special? in white. Above the second tabe with the lamp is another window just like the first. Above the front of the bed is a poster at the top of the photonic spectrum (pretty rainbow) and one below that of lots of fish, from the aquarium in Monaco.

  91. As long as we’re doing rooms, mine:
It’s at the end of the hall, on the bottom floor. Our house is on a hill, so we have a reverse floorplan, though. It’s pretty big, and now that I have a wood floor, it seems bigger. The wall with the door on it is a blue underwater scene mural thing. All the other walls are white. I have two calenders (Stuff on my Cat and Grumpy Bear) and a Rent poster on the wall. There’s also some Ikea stuff pushed up against that wall- a bureau closest to the door, then a desk, then a wall-mounted cabinet with a glass door, about a foot wide. six inches deep, and five feet high. My desk is pretty cool- it has a polyresin skull of some small rodent-type creature (about five inches long), a drawing mannequin, an antique jewelry box, some small Asian dolls, a small box that looks like two white tigers holding eachother, and a few other things. Also, there’s a magnetic whiteboard as part of the desk. The cabinet/bookcase things holds a collection of glass figurines, primarily animals.

Next wall is mostly a sliding glass door, with the head of my loft bed pushed up against the corner.

My bed’s pretty cool, it’s a metal loft one from Ikea, with a leather (yeah, I know, I’m vegetarian, but I pilfered it from the family room when my mother wasn’t looking) couch that pulls out into a bed (useful for sleepovers, lemme tell ya). On the couch, I have two blankets covering the seat cushions, one that’s fleece and leopard spotted and one that’s bright pink and green plaid-like from Target. Also there are a bunch of pillows and stuffed animals- some noted ones are a gold pillow with an elephant on it from some far-off land that I got when my grandma died, Elsie from Rent, and Ox the Uglydoll and his dog, Uglydog. Next to that is a really cool geometric bookcase from Pier 1, with lots of books in it, and old dolls on top. I found a box of old dolls in my closet, which initially freaked me out, but now I think they’re pretty cool. My books are organised into memoirs, fiction, non-fiction, Twin books (a childrens series of books about twins from other countries, that I requested and recieved after grams kicked it, there are about ten of these), and various paperback fiction that I don’t really like. Over this bookcase is my wall of general mementos- pictures, ticket stubs, and the like. Next to this is the door to my bathroom.

Last wall a large mirror with two sliding doors- my closet. In front of this wall is a general getting-ready area. I have a heart-shaped pillow with “love” or something written on, that’s quite large, and I use it as a seat. Next to this is a hatbox with make-up and other things that I don’t use on a daily basis. In a nice little row are the products that I use every day. Very specific: Burt’s Bees lip balm, hair detangler, brush, sun block, very small amount of foundation on a sponge wedge, small amount of powder, eye shadow, mascara (blue, black, or brown), lip stuff, and either body spray or solid perfume from France. I relish getting ready in the morning, it eases me into the day with a quiet routine. Sometimes I’ll turn on the record player or my iPod.

Up against the couch is white rug, on the corner is a boyfriend pillow which double as an iPod speaker. Also, there’s a cat and a fish.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  95. Yes. Dreamhost is a Web-hosting company, and we (more specifically, I) have to pay to store the Muse Fan Page and MuseBlog on its computers. I also have to pay an annual fee to keep the http://www.musefanpage.com domain name. (I own http://www.museblog.com, too, but haven’t used it yet.) That’s how websites work, in general.

    Pie 0

  96. Okay, okay, I’ll do my room.

When you walk in the door there’s a piece of wall jutting out in front of you about four feet away, and this creates a sort of three-sided box, because the door is in a corner. Facing you (if you’re standing at the door) is a shelf full of craft books and beads, with a bottle of glue and some fishing-line thrown in. To your left is a full length mirror with a red frame, and below that is a little wicker shelf full of . . . you guessed it, books. (Poems and compilations, if you were wondering.) There is a window on the far wall to the right of the door, with light purple curtains that are pretty much always in the way and rarely pulled to. My little sister’s dresser blocks part of the window. (It’s white and peach.) Along one wall is a shelf full of games, books, paper, and one potted plant. It’s really messy because I don’t really treat my math workbooks with respect, and I can’t get to the corner where I store my math workbooks anyway. On the wall opposite this is a pair of bunk beds, both in various states of disarray. My sister has the lower one, and mine is the top. Because it’s on the top, I never make it, so the blankets are at the foot of the bed (but you can’t see them because they’re covered in clothes) and there’s a sleeping bag on my bed instead, sometimes occupied by a cat. On the wall above my bed are about ten postcards i got from postcrossing before I stopped sending (and consequently stopped receiving). At the foot of my bed is . . . another bookshelf! Full of books, with a shirt or two thrown over it. There used to be a closet before the door came out, so there’s a sort of really big alcove along the wall, the only part of our room with carpet. My dresser is in there, with clothes overflowing from it’s drawers, and on the top is a jewelry box, a lot of paper, some useless trinkets, my mask and snorkel, my goggles, a tin Tintin box, The Ra Expeditions–I’m almost afraid to show my parents where it went– and a purse. There is a picture of a large and notable rock with puffins on the wall above that mess, drawn by my friend who’s an artist, unless I moved it, which I may have done, and in the other half of the closet hangs my clothes. (What? How dare you imply that I have too many clothes!) Underneath the bookshelf is a box full of even more books, and hanging on a hook to the left of my dresser is a bag full of stockings and my robe.

So there is my room. Of course, there’s a lot more stuff scattered across the floor, but we needn’t get into that.

  100. 131- Please. No. I don’t really see what good a blog for older kids would do, at least for me. One of the greatest things about MB is that age is irrelevant. It all depends on how you act. Maybe a blog for serious topics, though . . .

131- NOOO. ARGH SEGREGATION. MuseBlog is UNITED UNDER THE COMMON MUSE(s)!!! But Museblog.com could be a sort of art gallery for the museblog, cuz we can’t post piccys here.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  102. (134 > 132) Not really. Renting a doman name is one thing. It just means that nobody else can use that name as long as you keep paying for it, but it doesn’t use any resources. Getting space to store files on someone’s computer is something else. You’re physically occupying a disk drive. They’re different services, and you pay different people for them.

It’s a little like the difference between buying a piece of land, on the one hand, and buying the wood to build a house, on the other. Of course, if we had even more money to throw around we could pay someone to build the “house” for us, too, and it would look a lot slicker. But we’re do-it-yourselfers around here, with all the benefits and drawbacks that go with it.

The WordPress software that the blog is based on isn’t perfect, but it has one big advantage: it’s free. That’s the one blog ingredient that we don’t have to pay for.

    Pie 0

  103. 125: Ew, gross. But I would actually not make the signs, because then people would go, “Oh, haha, wouldn’t it be funny if we did that just becasue the sign says not to…”

But that’s a good idea to park cars like along the street in front of the yard, so it kind of blocks the way into the yard. If I understood you right.

    Anyway, bye and have fun!

  110. 141- That is a good idea, but it would be so expensive! *schemes anyway* The GAPAs could make another page, like the HG2MB or Who’s Here, and that could be a Wiki-type thing.

We couldn’t edit it, you say? Simple. We write “articles” on the official and as-yet-uncreated MuseBlogipedia Thread, and the GAPAs copy-and-paste the articles into the page. Almost no extra hassle at all, at least hardly more than keeping the Who’s Here up-to-date.

On an utterly random tangent, I am eating half a head of lettuce, MuseBlogging, editing Terraformed, trying to think of a good way to the introduce a purple plastic ninja into a children’s book, and imagining a painting called, “Girl With Head of Lettuce.”

  113. What to put in the MuseBlog Wiki–*hem* If I might make a suggestion? We could, conceivably, each have a profile (not with pictures of us, but images that we’d chosen to represent our blog name…for example, mine might be a black cat, or something) that we could update regularly. And we could put thing we like, and don’t like, etc. Kind of like a MySpace, only no commenting and messaging. We could also, as Alice said, write articles and post them. We could decorate it with simple HTML tricks, too, like making a certain color back ground in certain places. this whole trying-to-listen-to-all-my-music-in-order thing keeps getting longer and longer…the curse of limewire…i haven’t had to go back to listen to anything yet, but it’s only a matter of time. (once i get past the A’s maybe…i have sooo much aerosmith…)

i brought in my band fees today (they make us pay them lots of moneys) and it took forever! I woke up late (as usual) so i came into the school just as all my summer gym peeps were eating lunch (and no, i will never use the word peeps again) so they were talking, blahdeblah, then i went down to the band room and johnson wasn’t there but crandall was, so i asked her if johnson was around, and she said no, but he’ll probably be coming in, just give it to me and i’ll give it to him. So i did, and then she started talking, blahdeblah. I escaped her and ran into chappelle! so there we had to talk about the AP test, blahdeblah, and i finally went home and mom was like “wow, that took a long time” and i was like “everybody’s talking to me aaaah”

It’s so freaky though, everybody’s out now. Yesterday dan and cheese and i were going to meet hewitt at montrose for the movie and courtney drove by, somebody we didn’t see drove by (we know ck by her car. anyway, this person yelled “hi!” so we assume we know them), we saw monica and rachel coming back from radio cafe, devin was walking past with a pizza box, of all things, and nathan-child (aka ‘stache now) was running by at the cassingham light! it was crazy. If we had one of those, 1) people could find out about the MB and flood it (or attempt to flood it) with spam 2) people should read threads, not a summary, 3) I’m sure that there are more reasons why we shouldn’t, I just can’t think of ’em.

  138. Hi people! I’m back! Well, not really back, considering I never really left in the first place – except for when my class went to Alabama for a week, which was soooo fun – but I haven’t visited the Muse Blog since January . Someone please pie me for being so stupid. And then I will be leaving on Wednesday for Colorado to visit my grandparents, so I wont see the Muse Blog for a whole week! Although, it just occurred to me that they have a computer (actually two) there, so never mind, no worries. :D

On a slightly happier note: addressing my mentioning of my class (7th and 8th) visiting Alabama: That was so cool! :P Now, I understand some of you might live down near or in Alabama, but for us up in Massachusetts, It’s very exciting. The reason we went down for a week is because we have been studying the Civil Right Movement, and so we went to Alabama for a week to learn about the Civil Rights Movement up close. It was cool, amazing, powerful, and also kinda scary. Actually what was really freaky was, well, we stayed in two different places while we were down there: one was a retreat of some sort (I can’t remember the name at the moment), and the other was an old elementary school.

Now before you say “elemntary school” like it’s some kind of nasty bug I just ate, I will explain: the school had been converted into a retreat and teaching place of people involved in Civil Rights.

Anyway, when we got to the elementary school / retreat, we discovered it had been vandalized! *shudder* The vandals had rifled through the tree different buildings, grabbing as much copper as they could lay their hand on. They even cut copy machine power cables off to get at the copper inside, and left the copy machine! 8O In the building we were staying in, there were three wings, and two of them had the pipes taken out, with the water still running, so all the floor boards were warped. Glass everywhere, upturned beds, it was really kinda scary. But since we had nowhere else to go, we stayed in the untouched wing (why they didn’t touch that wing is beyond me). But we lived through it, and considering we spent most of the time out and about, visiting famous people, landmarks, museums, ice cream trucks and the like, it was quite fun. (I realize now that this isn’t exactly a so called “happier note”, but who cares (except me)).

105 and related – I have also been super cleaning my room out, because we have FINALLY decided to paint it. :) Get new shelves (mine are actually falling apart where they stand), repaint, new bed, batter desk. It makes me happy. But it may take a little bit, considering I started two days ago and are only 2 thirds the way through rifling through all my stuff, and taking it out.

regarding 118 and related – I would give a complected description of my room, but seeing as I’m totally redoing it, that wouldn’t work so well.

    Cheers and hedghogs! 8)

    190, 191- Coy Woodnesse. It’s pretty dead.

195- I like shopping too. But unfortunately . . . anyway, I’ll get back to that. Ugh.

    199- Feel better soon!

So in this coffee shop today it struck me that I really wasn’t doing anything to stop global warming, or even partially stop it. I use cars, I eat food from far away, etc.

So I decided that I am now going on the 100-mile diet, in which I only eat food from inside a 100-mile radius. That means, good-bye chocolate, good-bye coffee, good-bye bread, good-bye sugar.

I am unhappy. Wish me luck.

On another note, I saw a lot of movies on vacation, namely, Star Wars, The City of Lost Children, and HP5. Good movies all, especially the second. ( ♥ ) I also saw the Simpsons, which I have never seen before, and I think some other ones that weren’t very memorable.

  169. 217/219- Here’s something to help you two, then.

Take a clothespin (the wooden and wire kind) and glue two popsicle sticks to the enda so they just touch each other. When dry, you can stick it in a toaster without fear of electrocution or gouging your toast/bagel.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  170. 210: Whoa, that’s intense! I’m trying to imagine doing that… We live down the road from a farm, so theoretically I could stay at home all the time and live on plain burgers and corn. DX During the winter I would starve, though, since nothing grows here then. But I could never go on that diet anyway, like for health reasons, etc., plus I’d have to cook all my own meals which I don’t have time to do. But in general that’s a really good way to decrease pollution. What happens if you travel somewhere, though, would you be able to eat anything from that area :( ?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  171. 222- I’m sure I would. I’m not going to subsist on salmon and potatoes if I go to Italy! (In Ireland, on the other hand, I would probably subsist on salmon and potatoes anyway, now how’s that for variety?) I’m going to live at two houses pretty soon, so I figure I’ll be able to sneak in a few more miles depending on where I am. I may be able to eat wheat when on the farm. This is a very plentiful area, and I won’t starve. Also, it’s not as though cows aren’t the main livestock (apart from horses), so I can make ice cream with honey as sweetener, and fruit as flavoring. Or go without flavoring, now that would be good. I believe it’s called Sweet Cream.

I’ll also probably end up minimizing my shopping, too, even if I have money. I always used to try not to shop at places like Target because of the horrible sweatshop conditions, but that has crumbled slightly in the last year or so. (In January I spent over $70 at Forever Twenty-One. FUN!)

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  172. Also- Plain burgers and corn isn’t the worst diet, though monotonous. People in the middle of the country would have an easier time of it, because their hundred miles wouldn’t run into the ocean, where the only edible things are fish and seaweed. (YUM! No, seriously. Seaweed is very good, as is fish.)

Some people do the FIFTY mile diet. Now that would be hard!

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  173. What exactly did I just say? Sorry for the triple post, but . . . that was strange of me. I don’t mean it, I assure you. Plain burgers and corn would be more than monotonous. It would be unbearable.

  174. 209- What I was thinking. And why can’t people speak English? I understand IM language completely, but there is a place for it, and this place is not MuseBlog. They’re lucky we don’t have any moderator control. If, for example, there was something on museblog.com (like a wiki) where normal bloggers could be administrators, then so many people would be banned… I have no control over my temper. </rant>

Of course, I didn’t notice anything until my finger started swelling like a balloon. I had to support the finger by medical taping it to my middel finger, lessening the chance that the ligement in my finger would totally break in half. 180. I once jammed my finger in a sliding glass door. God how it hurt. I remember it bleeding all the way to the hospital (which, luckily, was only a couple blocks away from the hotel room I was staying in). Apparently, according to the doctors who examined it, they could see through to the bone at one spot, and if I had cut it any more (even the slightest bit) I would have lost all the feeling in that finger. Happened almost 6 years ago, I think, and I still have the kinda icky-looking scar from those 7 stitches on my index finger.

On a slightly happier note: I’m going to Boulder, Colorado tomorrow to visit my grandparents for a week! YAAA! It’s really cool because their house, if you walk out the back door, there’s this nice open field, and then the mountains. It’s cool.

Anyone here know about Warhammer 40,000? I FINALLY finished my first game. Whew! It took 6 straight hours of nonstop playing. And it was only an average-size game! But I won, by a lot, and now I want to play again…
