So, this is the sequel to the Anti-Chatroom thread, hmm? Whatever happens on Tuesday will be an anticlimax.
I must say, the decor here is extremely picturesque. How long did you work on it, and which parts were Paul’s and which Rebecca’s?
Another question: Would the proprietors of this establishment be interested in a second property in the Commonwealth of Hydropastrica? I think that the colony on Zwyx would be an excellent location- plenty of fresh produce for the menu. I would suggest Canopolis, but as it floats on Qurtv’s Lake, the waves might disturb the patrons, and installing gyroscopes would incur unnecessary expense. Speaking of which, the Commonwealth government would pay for the new establishment. I think that fostering an attitude of Musery among the colonists is well worth the price.

And who’s the chef? I’m assuming it’s Paul, as these delectable treats have a distinctive, delicious British taste.
Has anyone noticed that my dress blends in exactly to the couch? It’s the exact same of shimmery blue! Odd… but interesting!

in March 29th, 2008 @ 21:008- It seems to be a virtual tea room for those who like thoughtful conversation, as opposed to pointless posts. Also, pie throwing seems to be prohibited on the premises, more because it’s hard to clean up than anything else.
Its location is uncertain, as it seems to be at an intersection between Museica, Iceland and Earth. I’m betting it’s in the Oasis.

(18) Did you want the traditional strawberry jam, Mr. TMFA? We have an extensive list of jam varieties if you prefer something more adventurous, including cloudberry, which is very popular in Iceland.

Ms. Pun, it is my impression that this is a replacement for the legendary “Anti-Chatroom” thread, that has been longed for by many a Muser in recent days. I also am of the opinon that, whatever happens, April Fools day will be quite fascinating. I am also pleased that, as I am on Spring Break, I will get to revel in the inevitably intriguing events for the entire day. Although, I suppose whether that is a good thing or a bad thing shall be revealed to us within mere days.

The name refers only to the general appearance of the pastry, which some people liken to wungs. “Buttons” actually refer to the sprinkles, but over the years, the name stuck to the dainty itself. Though the derivation, the recipe, with sprinkles or without — all inspire the usual sorts of arguments that accompany heritage foods.

Excuse my outburst. And yes, I did mean WUGS, not wungs. Wungs, it seems, are creatures that are a mixture of wings on a butterfly and rungs on a ladder, and wugs are simply blobs with eyes and sometimes ant feet that stare at you until you feel guilty you had not painted them a mouth. Wugs figured in the MUSE issue with the unreasonable hate letter.

Think of all the hours we have spent roleplaying about bunnies, from Neon Green to Hot Pink, and devising elaborate schemes to make stop their so-called torment of us. Well, I for one, make this declaration: If they do nothing else, the bunnies unite the bloggers against a common goal.
Except, of course, for rouges like me, who wholeheartedly support the bunnies and their causes, whatever they may be.

in March 29th, 2008 @ 23:2743- Oasis locations: I think the Oasis doesn’t exist in any one particular place, but is formed where worlds- real and imaginary- overlap.
However, there are certain places where it is possible to enter it. I think there’s one in Museica (probably in Kokopelli Province, as there’s a Museica street in the capital) and one in Iceland (possibly accessible by secret passage from Muse Academy.) Then there’s the Oasis Mirage. So we know there’s one in the Arizona Desert.
I don’t know of any others. Ideas?

With the random thread, it’s like one of those unpleasant parties where you wander around a big, echoey room with sparse furnishing and try to find someone you know, or failing that, somewhere to sit down. This thread is like a virtual Kokonvention in the nineteenth-century British Commonwealth- quaint, picturesque and immensely enjoyable.

59 – I agree wholeheartedly. I myself do not even frequent the random thread anymore, except perhaps when there are only a few comments at the begining of the month. This is partially because most people who post there post after I’ve gone to bed (the curse of living in a different time zone) and partially because there are just too many posts to keep up with.

I’ve, in fact, just arrived from the lake territories to check up on Firestar! And before that, I was sleeping, but after I left this wonderful place last night I was in Foo.
Speaking of Foo, Mr. POSOC, have you finished the Eyes of the Want? Because I certainly haven’t. I’m on Chapter Two. Since you’re the only person I know on the blog to have read the series (Remember you were Clover on the Muse RPG?) I’d love to have a discussion about it with you while I sip my tea.

in March 30th, 2008 @ 11:14(66, 71) I can’t even remember when I acquired the piano. Sometime during my Muser-age years. I liked to daydream about having a coffee shop, just a little nook of a place, with a simple menu that changed from day to day. It had space for only a handful of tables, close together so you couldn’t help but get into conversations with the people around you, though there’d be a couple of spots reserved for those who wished to dine in relative solitude. Of course, the patrons would mostly be regulars who’d come to talk passionately about poetry and aesthetics and life and dreams….
The piano was key. It was an aging upright of uncertain lineage — perhaps it had lived in an old frontier saloon or theater. Certainly it showed signs of wear, but devoted care kept it in good shape and though purists might complain it sounded more dance hall than concert hall, it stayed in perfect tune.
The piano waited by the wall for anyone who wanted to come in and play, whether to perform a classical solo, improvise a jazz tune, or inspire the other diners to gather round and sing Broadway songs. After closing, I could sit at the bench myself and channel the moods and thoughts of the day through the act of banging on the keys, with or without singing along.
In later years, when I took up painting, my coffee house morphed into an arts and crafts studio, with a section set aside for a shop. Though I no longer had time to keep up the restaurant aspect, I always kept tea, coffee, and baked goods on hand. The piano came with me, of course, and served the same purposes as before.
I suppose it’s odd that someone who thinks of herself as having a mostly reclusive nature should create so many gathering places in her head. Then again, I feel most comfortable in those settings that don’t require one to talk unless the mood strikes, and the piano serves as a perfect bridge between solitude and the kind of companionship that rests easy on the soul.
So naturally, when we started putting the tea room together, the piano had to come with me, whether or not it conformed to tea-room propriety. I admit, however, I was relieved when Paul informed me that a piano was “absolutely correct.” He added “I take it you’re intending to engage a hare or a hedgepig to play it?” Well, you saw the results of my attempt to interview a hedgepig — anyway, I think they tend to specialize in bagpipes.

(64) groundhog22, nothing at the Hare & Hedgepig vaguely resembles airline food. Certainly not the kosher food, which is most excellent. I will say it is quite the advantage to have a tea room between dimensions, allowing an infinite amount of space for specialty kitchens without taking up any additional room.

Oh, Sir Paul, have you ever had chrysanthemum tea? I had it in China, it’s quite good. Boiled chrysanthemum heads with a bit of sugar, I quite liked it. I haven’t had more than a sip of english type teas, so I’ll have some Earl Grey now. I don’t think I’ve ever had it properly…

Accompanying me is my lovely associate Elanor Wung, who is delighted to be a part of imaginary Reality again. ((I figure that since the two Etheterre people are here, they’ll appreciate Elanor’s presence. Of course, she’s no Elanor Wing, but she’ll do. :D))
Teatime is generally not most commonly 1330 hours, but it is undoubtedly only the time difference that confuses me so.
My Wung friend is currently hovering beside my head, and I am asking her to move a bit lower, as it distracts me to see a floating object resting beside my ear.
If it wouldn’t be too much trouble, I shall make a right pig of me and order quite a number of things. Firstly, I shall ask for two chocolate eclairs, as I am so fond of them. I shall also request a wee cup of ooh, let’s see, so many from which to choose – I shall begin with a bit of China gunpowder. I had quite a bit more in mind, but so as not to make myself sick that will be all for today.

Welcome, one and all, to our new establishment. It seems it is already popular. So many of you have taken refuge here from the common tribulations of your lives that I fear we shall need more tables.
Fear not! Lady Bunniful has drawn only the cosiest corner, where lounging is permitted. For persons of a more formal bent, rest assured that over by the windows, there are good, large, round oaken tables, spread with finest Irish linen, upon which may conveniently be spread a cornucopia of comestibles, and a proper tea service. All bone china, of course, unless you prefer a silver teapot with a knitted hedgepig cosy. Be warned, though. The oaken chairs are straight-backed, and you must match them by adopting a proper posture and engaging in polite conversation. I have decreed that the phrase “sit up straight, dear, and stop fidgetting” may be used by anyone wishing to criticise anything uncouth that appears on this thread.
Now, to business. Chrysanthemum tea was an unforgiveable oversight, and it will be added to our list forthwith. Please don’t worry if it’s not on the card. Just ask for it.
I am currently in discussion with Lady Bunniful reagrding use of the piano. Clearly, anyone with pianistic skill is welcome to play on it, but I have suggested that for special occasions, we should engage a palm court trio. I would welcome suggestions for repertoire. I favour Mendelssohn myself. He’s safe, and not too intrusive. A little Boccherini, perhaps, if we wish to be exotic. Lady Bunniful informs me that aspidistras are on order, but the delivery time is shocking. Perhaps we should simply be profligate and order a real palm.
Once again, welcome, dears. I shall drop in as often as I can to see how well the place is frequented, and to make sure the service is up to scratch.

This is such a nicer atmosphere than my classroom.

Ms. Elanor, however, will remain hovering and sipping her delicious ginseng. It would be greatly appreciated if any person having been taught the intricate language of Wung as well as English (Ms. Alice or Mr. POSOC, perhaps? – it is so similar to the language of the Xixins we know so well) would be so kind as to translate for the learned lady Elanor, as she has yet to learn our tongue. Otherwise she would see fit to depart the lovely high tea as well.
This seems so vulgar even to suggest, but I thought to mention it before I go – has anyone thought to enjoy a simple hand of cards? I know it may be difficult, and as it seems such an American “backstreet” thing to do, especially for such a proper tea, however it came to mind and there’s no stopping my thoughts from flowing, I suppose. Farewell and I hope we shall meet again at the Hare and Hedgepig.

We really need a house deck, though, with Hare and Hedgepig backs. Given the amount of work The Lady Bunniful has done in creating and decorating this establishment, I hardly like to suggest it. Perhaps one of you would care to design our cards? Fronts as well as backs, if you like. We have no need to be bound by convention. I have a vision of hares as clubs, hedgepigs as diamonds …. and that’s as far as my limited imagination takes me, but I’m sure the patrons of this august establishment can expand the idea a little.

in April 1st, 2008 @ 10:28I am still feeling ill, however I must disclose a bit of information before I leave the tearoom once again. I have finished a few example cards on a few sheets of lined paper, and when my mother returns home with her laptop I shall scan the pages in and send the images over immediately to the DAPAs. I suggested many things in my own hand, mentioning the Italian cards with no numbers. I thought they had no face cards, but I guess they do. You’ll have to wait and see what else I said.
Oh and I totally butchered 3 house sort of representatives, leaving only Spector House safe. Of course, I hope I wouldn’t fully kill a simple rose. That would be sad.

Would the owners mind stocking a bit of Swiss cheese? I enjoy Jarlsberg sandwiches ever so much. Now that I search it, the only cheese that appears on your menu is cream cheese, which is not a proper hard cheese. I suppose hard cheese isn’t always considered traditional teatime fare, but I love it all the same, and it would truly thrill me to find it on the menu.
Lady Bunniful, I would so love to see thy impression of the seemingly bottomless Hare and Hedgepig pantry. If thou or Master Paul would feel so inclined to present a drawing or photograph whenever you have the chance to produce such an image, I would be most, er, delighted?

I’ll be setting off for my port on the far side of the island soon, but thank you so much, whoever was so thoughtful to install a nice little pier by the sea. It’s great for taking a stroll on, or tying up one’s boat.

I have no other way of showing my facial expressions.I’m feeling fine now, and I’m thinking it’s okay to come back to the tearoom. I’ll now show how hungry I am after all that sleeping and order quite a bit.
If you please, I would like a cup of ginseng and one of lady grey tea, 2 cucumber sandwiches, one egg and cress (simply to delight myself in trying to say “watercress sandwich” in a British accent), one cream cheese and chives sandwich, one smoked salmon and lettuce (with cream cheese as well, if you don’t mind), and one ham and mustard sandwich. That will be all for sandwiches, but if you don’t mind I would like two Victoria sponge cakes, one of each Eccles, Chorley, and Welsh cakes, and a wung button. And why not a scone, no butter just jam (may I have apricot jam instead of strawberry?), a chocolate eclair, and a muffin with lemon marmalade? That would be lovely, thank you.
Oh dear, I seem to have made quite a glutton of myself. That’s fifteen items, which is quite a bit, indeed. I don’t know if I could finish all that in any case. I wish to expel a few items so as not to seem too piggy. I shall dismiss the Chorley cake, one cucumber sandwich, the cream cheese and chives sandwich, the ham and mustard sandwich, the chocolate eclair, and the scone. And as muffins can be so large, instead may I simply have a bit of sandwich bread, toasted and spread with lemon marmalade? That would be lovely.
Does the H&H carry lemon curd? I do love lemon curd. In fact, I have what seems to be a lovely recipe for lemon curd. It seems as though it would be fairly creamy, however, which is not to my liking, but as it is a simple mixing process, I don’t see why I couldn’t adjust the recipe to make the lemon curd less creamy.

I do apologise for the indecent haste of this quick visit, but several inconvenient people have decided to bribe me to play at them, so I’m buzzing around like a thing that buzzes. Now, what’s all this nonsense with the front page? And that hideous music. Whoever this Disney person is, I don’t think I like him one little bit. Someone told me he invented a mouse, but I’m not sure mice really need to be invented. He seems to be something of a vulgarian, or at least a craven populist, which is very much the same thng, but less honest. I shall take steps to have his baleful presence removed from the blog forthwith, beginning with the Hare and Hedgepig. These colours! It won’t do. It won’t do at all.
Meanwhile, I think I may safely grant the request for lemon curd. As to cheese – you know, I believe we should. Our cheeseboard must be comprehensive, though. In the next few days, I shall compile a list, and stock up on Bath Olivers.

Ah, I was also wondering if we could combine herbs to make our own signature favorite teas. Peppermint leaves, licorice root, rose hips, and lemongrass for me. If that doesn’t chemically combine to make a poison, of course, in which case I’ll just have the peppermint and licorice root. That is, of course, if you allow visitors to combine herbs to make their own tea.

Poetry is for coffee houses, with bongoes, scones and strange scents wafting through the air, with highly caffienated spectators clapping sedately as they sip the lukewarm froth from delicate, thimble-sized shots of espresso!!!
Apologies to the proprietors; I was in no way attempting to mold this lovely establishment into anything as oversterilized and soulless as a Starbucks when I expressed dissapointment at the lack of espresso; I was merely attempting to project a piece of my own culture onto my surroundings. My culture is one in which creative people venture out to various small coffee houses (NOT shops) and perform late into the night. Espresso is part of a culture, a persona that is cultivated where I come from; one that includes long-suffering novelists bent over thier laptops or legal pads, running up tabs as they take in coffee and sandwiches while chewing over stubborn sentences. It is one of misty-eyed teenagers listening to music that is slow and contemplative as they converse. It is one of baristas who learn your name and ask after your relations.
Does that sound like a Starbucks to you?

They are infused with tranquilizers and should be used on any DAPA within flinging range. Once the Aggressively Perky Administrator has been subdued, he or she should be confined until restored to a normal, Muserly level of insanity.
What should our secondary objective be, ladies and gentlemen of the Resistance?
(A note to the GAPAs: The activities of the Resistance are strictly in the spirit of April Fool’s day. Actually, I think this is quite funny, if an alarming portent of what might happen if Disney really bought out Muse.)

Perhaps Rosanne, while the Ears were distracted, took the incredible risk of *shudders violently* channeling the pink bunnies, and thus pitting one enemy against another. And while they fought it out, the GAPAs cunningly re-gained control.
