So! A new thread. *hands out dark Choklit smores* I still have a lot to do on aNano. My fingers hurt. Well, I cut one on my skate yesterday but my other fingers hurt from typing. It’s a little hard to type with a band-aid on. It’s hard to play flute with a band-aid too.
I disagree, Zyka, Ruler of the Universe, Queen of All Things Un-Cursive, and Procrastinator of the Highest Degree. I think it is amazing that we have a new thread already! (See “Too Much Noise on the Blog” thread).
Squee! We have Friday off, so we’re going camping! I love going camping. I love the outdoors in general. I’m an outdoor-sy kind of person. Does anyone else here enjoy camping?

No, there’s a reason for it. Last year people complained whenever threads got too long. MBers with dial-up modems in particular had trouble loading them. Rosanne and I asked what the maximum length should be, and most people said about 300 posts, so that’s how we’ve been running things since then. I’d gladly increase the limit to 400 or 500 posts (less work for the administrators) if people said they were willing to scroll that far.

I think it would be a good idea, Robert. 400 seems good, plus you can just press “end” and scroll up a few times if you were keeping up with the thread. If you wern’t… I doubt you would really read all 300 right then anyways.
Scrolling really isn’t that hard, guys. But it is pretty crazy, 300 posts in 7 days?

Okay guys, this is really getting crazy. I come here to post a comment, write one line, click the submit button, and when i scroll down, there’s two other comments that weren’t there before. And I type pretty fast too.
We have to talk about going camping for our spanish oral. Ugh, I have no idea what I’m going to say. No school tomorrow, which would be great except I have tons of homework. Sigh.

So tomorrow’s election day. I have to find a political cartoon and explain it and whatnot. We might actually take a field trip! Squee! That was a slightly sarcastic squee, since said field trip would be downstairs to the library, but it was a squee nonetheless.

Btw, 8-the idea isn’t to get seven threads, the idea is to ramble on about Life, the Universe, and Everything. That’s the kind of mentality that spawned the Too Much Noise thread. Beware, lest i pie. Mwahahahaha. It would be a tootsie roll pie, because i’ve been oddly obsessed with tootsie rolls lately. I used to love them, then i hated them with a bitter passion, and now i love them again. Weeell, off to do more nano. I’m almost exactly a day behind. I’m trying just to keep up and not fall back any more, i haven’t had much time to try to catch up and i’m running out of ideas too. Sad times. Oh well.

nano=nanowrimo=national novel writing month. MB’ers with more skill for writing and more time to do it than me are writing 50,000 word novels. I wholeheartedly support anyone who is taking up the challenge.

It had this singalong of the gregorian chants and it was like, “while you are singing, whack yourself hard with the DVD box. did it hurt? No? I find it very very annoying. my two best friend got into a huge fight today. it was not fun.

47. I thought it was kind of confusing with all the flashbacks inside flashbacks, but I loved it anyway. Tesla was awesome! And the whole plot was very interesting, although you feel a bit cheated with the whole Borden/Fallon twin thing. It was interesting in this movie that there is no clear good guy. I stopped supporting Angier when he said “I don’t care about my wife, I want his secret”, because then he went loony, so I think Borden was the good guy. But then again, I mean, look what he did to Sara and Olivia, and he certainly didn’t help Angier. So I have decided that the cat is the good guy.
It’s kind of freaky that Angier died every performance. Which one was the real him? Cuz the first time the old one shot the new one, but after that the old one died and the new one lived. I guess they were both the real him. If it were me, I would have just kept the first duplicate and done the trick with him as a double, but then I guess what would you do with him the rest of the time? I dunno. I loved the line “You think it was easy, not knowing whether I’d be the man in the tank or the man getting the applause?”

OMG today was sooo fun. There was no homework in Spanish, and then we watched a movie in biology. Then at lunch, T asked me if I wanted to skip sixth hr w/ her (To try + get out of writing this stupid essay thing – See, the majority of kids failed the MEAP at my skool, so now the skool board has declared that every single person at my skool has to write an essay for a certain prompt, every Tues of each month. But…both T and I actually passed the MEAP – We even got some pretty nice scholarships for it as well!). We ended up going to the 7-11 down the street…which is where we ran into R! After that, we still had a lot of time to waste, so we decided to go to the playground at the Civics Center – LOL It was fun! We played Hot Lava for probably > an hr! This weekend I went to the Dia De Los Muertos parade downtown and it was SO cool! Everyone was dressed up in weird costume and they had this car-sized paper cauldron that they lit on fire and lifted up in a crane. It was schweet.

i am very hungry right now. The sixth grade at my school is a huge disappointment. we keep getting in trouble. i am so glad it is almost dinner.I scored a goal in hockey today for the first time in my life! it was really funny, because the puck bounced into the goal and back out, and while everyone was arguing about whether it was a goal and paying no attention whatsoever to me, I scored! My mom told me that this girl (who happens to be my friend) is better than me at trumpet. That would make sense, though. I haven’t practiced this month. But it was my band teacher saying it. It made me feel badly.

My cello teacher told me I should start practicing more and so I feel sympathy for your sadnessedness. (YAY! made up word!!!)
Another forgotten thing for post 95- I also play the piano. Which I LOVE and perhaps overpractice.
I went to the doctors and NO STREP!!!! The throat swab didn’t hurt too much, either. I did get a shot. A flu vaccine.
I HATE SHOTS!!!!!!!!!!!! 
But this one didn’t hurt (too much)!!!! YAY!!!

Isabella- 7th gr. life science goes over eye color. It has to do with genetics. Like, if you have recessive genes, your eyes are blue. But we’re not sure exactly how. I’m not sure of it, but I think it’s more than one group of dominant/recessive genes. Be skeptical though, because my parents’ eyes and mine are blue and my sister’s are green. I’m in New York too. Isn’t it nice here? The Hudson River looks really cool some seasons.

PJAS stands for Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science. Basically, members do an independent research project, and then present a writeup of it to a group of judges and fellow [fellina? That word needs a feminine form…] participants. You either get a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. You really do not want a 3rd. Seconds are fine, but if you get a 1st, you move on to states. Which is the point of doing it. You present there again. It’s really fun. I think every state has its own junior academy of science….7th graders through 12th graders participate.

(109, 110, 125) “Gray” and “grey” have always sounded like different shades to me. “Grey” is slightly bluer, “gray” slightly browner. A few years ago I met a woman who said it was the same with her, but the other way around.
I never think of “gray” as a color at all. It always looks misspelled to me, unless it’s somebody’s name.

98- well, actually, overpracticing is when 1. you’ve practiced for so long it’s not being productive at all anymore and may actually be ingraining bad habits and 2. when you start to develop nasty little nerve problems.
Such as the tingling I’ve been having in my fingers for the last few days. I guess it’s because I’ve been trying to hold my violin without tightening my shoulder muscle and kind of clenching it, and it’s sounding a lot better, but it tires my arm, I guess because I’m not used to using those muscles, and I don’t get how loosening up can make you hurt..
You can’t overpractice, but you can work too hard in one parctice session so that it gets to the point where you’re not making progress and it would be best just to rest for a bit and come back later.
That happened to me on wednesday when I practiced clarinet for four hours and still failed my playing test the next day…hurrah.

I did an obscene amount of work yesterday and today I still have to do some major work on an essay and experiment design (physical change versus chemical change). I’m going to hard-boil an egg and then dip it in vinegar.
Also, I have been learning the words to ‘Alma’ and trying to get into Frederik Pohl’s Starburst because it is so *#&$! slow and I really don’t care about the different nationalities of the random people. Oh, and Knefhausen isn’t really a strong character, even though he has a cool name.
My test on Steinbeck’s The Pearl is on Wednesday. Friday I won the all-grade contest for best essay title with “Kiss Me, I’m An Entrepreneur” and I have one extra point on said essay. One. Yes, one. Think they could spare it?

Heya!!
I just got back from a three-day field trip with my entire school. It was a Shabbaton (a trip over the Sabbath), so we stayed up late every night and sang and danced and ate and ate and ATE like there was no tomorrow. We got coach buses on Friday morning and drove for two hours up north, then stayed in cabins in the woods, right on a beautiful giant-sized lake, and it was fairy-tale snowing and looked BEAUTIFUL. And every meal we got up on the tables and sang and jumped up and down, and the choir performed and we sounded AWESOME together, and my geography teacher did the Torah reading in the Teimani style (the Teimanim are a group of Arabic Jews) and it was beautiful, and each grade performed a funny song and a skit for the rest of the school. And during Havdalah, which is the ritual closing ceremony for the Sabbath, we were all singing together in the pitch blackness with only a small torch, held by one of the seniors, for light, and then afterwards the seniors preformed all the songs from previous Shabbatonim (there’s one every year) and they started to cry because they were so sad that this was thier last Shabbaton. And the entire time I spent time with my Family and my twin and big sister, and we played Apples to Apples in the lounge, and after Sabbath we went swimming and I saw a shooting star!
It was the greatest thing EVER!!!

We read it already and we’re now doing short stories. I already read all the interesting stories in our literature book, though. The year is not very promising. Not much science fiction. Ooh, eighth grade english. Once you suffer through the pearl you get rewarded with the Utopia unit and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (at least in my school) Even though I’d read animal farm at least 10 times I never understood it’s complex underlying messages and themes until Mr. O explained. Umm… can’t remember the number, but to emogrl on eating- I have somthing similar to that too, I think. Where I eat nearly nothing at breakfast and are still not very hungry at lunch 5 hours later. I don’t know, but I just seem to be unable to recognise when I’m hungry somtimes. At dinner it’s allways like “WHy don’t you eat some more?” When I really just don’t feel like it. I saw the play when it was at the shakespeare festival at Boscobel this summer, too. I think a friend of mine read it in school, but I’m not sure about that. And we read A Comedy Of Errorslast year. OK, Ruffled Grouse (165), I hope this answers your question. Why I work is kind of tricky to consolidate, because I have several jobs and different reasons for each of them.
Here’s the short answer for the day job, flippant, but more or less true: To pay the bills, to get out of the house, to learn how to handle situations I’d otherwise avoid.
A slightly more complete answer: My freelance work — painting and graphics — I do because I can no longer imagine life without art as my central occupation. It’s at the heart of everything else, including how I connect with others. The answer to why I do it is I can’t help but do it.
My other jobs buy me time to do the work I love best. But they have their meaningful aspects as well. I’ve learned skills I thought beyond me and get to spend time with people from an amazing range of backgrounds I would never have met otherwise. I even met some Musers a few weeks ago.

A pair of tadpoles that never turned into frogs though they were supposed to in 3 weeks we had them for 2 years. A bunny we had to give away because my sister was taking care of it. It had some sort of bladder problem and peed in my face twice. Cute, but disgusting. Name was Mittens, but we called him bunny. Yes, my sister is a creative namer. I, on the other hand, came up with creative names for my pets. One of the tadpoles was Speedy(he never moved), the other was Dormant(he didn’t move either). Speedy died first. My brother named his fish after some pokemon, I can’t remember which one.

OMG hunter gave me a dog biscuit and i actually took a bite. Because i didn’t hear what he said, i thought he said bacon, and it looked like bacon to me but it tasted disgusting so i was like “what is this exactly?” and he cracks up and goes “it’s a dog treat” so i threw it at him and ran to the drinking fountain. XD my fault really, for actually taking food from hunter. but i was hungry and my brain wasn’t working because of sleep deprivation. And besides, jacob gave me a snickers afterwards. Or at least he pulled out a snicekers in my presence, which is tantamount to giving it to me (i suppose technically i stole it, but let’s not bother with technical details).
I actually walked home today, for the first time in AGES. theater’s not until 5:30. So what happened…lessee…andy informed us that he was listening to a satanic song, i stole a snickers from jacob and informed them about the moste interesting latin movie where david bowie kidnaps a baby and some terrible actor (who, according to our resident trivia king john, actually went on to win some oscars later) has to go through a labrynth to get him back with the help of a little gnome guy who likes shinies, and about how i put a password on josh’s calky. They both interrupted each other multiple times telling me about the south park (which i don’t watch, but the stories always amuse me. they tell me about the episodes like every day anyway).

This year, my marching band gets to be one of only 7 high school bands to march in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. I’m really uber-excited, even though it means having to get up at midnight and go in to the freezing streets of NY to practice. If you guys want to see my band, watch the parade on TV. We’re the gimungus high school AZ band (270 students strong!). We’re the third band in the parade, I think (and I’m in the second row, eek). We’ll have a minute of air-time on NBC to do our show, which is Hoe Down from the ballet Rodeo. (unfortunately, we’re not doing our normal show, which is The Who)
Also, we get to be in the audience for the Today Show on Nov. 24. Brilliant Mostly Harmless Idea I’m going to make a PWT PWNS sign to hold up in the audience. Then our awesomeness will be broadcasted over national TV !!!! (if my sign gets caught on camera, which isn’t that likely, but hey, we’ll try)
Or, if you want me to say anything else, tell me and I’ll try and get it approved.
(If GAPAs are worried about the whole indentification thing, be comforted, my face will probably be covered by the sign so no one will be able to see who I am and stalk me, plus, it would just be a split second flash of the audience)

we watched the video, which as always was very dubious. i think it was better this year than last. then we went to waffle house, but some genius in our ride got the wrong waffle house so it was just me, bill, sarah, monica, and michelle. There was this crazy lady there who stood up and yelled “GO BLUE” really loudly and kept yelling it and then bill was like “Right on!” because she doesn’t really care about football but she likes doing stuff like that. Then the lady’s like “GO BLUE! i ain’t scared of you! GO BLUE!” and everybody kind of just sat there eating. Then these pimps came in and i swear to you they were real pimps. big mink coats, pimp hats, all orange. Then we debated prostitution-whether it should be legal or not. Government officials and industry players are stepping up efforts to update the 74-year-old legislation currently governing the movie industry to help spur growth.
Representatives from four ministries which supervise various aspects of the film industry met earlier this week to discuss amendments to the 1930 law as well as proposals to consolidate regulatory authority under a single agency.
Censorship rules under the current law, which movie producers described as outdated, are viewed as crippling the industry’s growth potential.
The Thai film industry has experienced a revival in recent years, earning greater acceptance at home as well as winning numerous awards in overseas competitions.
A more supportive role from the government, which would include relaxing the current tight censorship on film production, would allow the industry to thrive, delegates said.
An agreement in principle was made to call for the establishment of a central body, tentatively named the Motion Picture Council, to oversee the industry with a clearer direction.
The new body would both support and regulate the film industry with the aim of improving the quality of Thai films to make them competitive on the international stage.
At Tuesday’s meeting were officials from the ministries of commerce, tourism and sports, foreign affairs, and culture, as well as representatives from the private sector.
Weerasak Kowsurat, deputy culture minister, said the establishment of the film body would require the participation of both the private and public sectors.
Its main task would be to create sustainable growth for the industry, including financial assistance for producers, as well as providing help with exports and copyright violations, he said.
Prawatsart Kunchorn Na Ayutthaya, RS Film’s distribution director, welcomed the proposal, saying the government should replace its archaic legislation with a rating system to classify films, and leave the public free to choose.
He said the censorship system hindered industry development because it complicated the budgeting process, forcing producers to rein in their creativity to avoid the risk of having scenes cut.

Can’t resist mentioning that I’m moderating from the theatre wings tonight. As I write, the performers are doing sound check. The group onstage is The Machine, a Pink Floyd tribute band from NYC, and I’m here to serve food and answer the little questions like, “hey, what is this building called?” or “where do I put the dirty dishes?” For bigger questions, I send out smoke signals to theatre staff.
I love watching shows from backstage. Behind the scenes always fascinates me, to see how the bits and pieces come together when the real performance comes into being. Besides, when the music starts, I can dance.
Aha, they’ve left one serving of the vegetable lasagna.

my favorite bookmark was one i made at my friend’s birthday party. When i was at camp this summer i guess i left it on the ground while i was reading and didn’t realize it was gone until later. I didn’t manage to get back to the spot where i had been reading until the next day, and then i found it all torn up. I found most of the pieces and managed to tape it back together (more or less) but it’s still not the same.

for the 20th of Nov which is the day in which us in Mex. (NOT NEW MEXICO! The real thing!) commemorate the end of the Porfiriato, which was a period when one guy (Porfirio Diaz, hence the name) was president for 30 years, which sucked. Also the calendar seems to be missing Thanksgiving, which seems an odd thing to celebrate in my opinion– colonists messed things up irrevocably– but any excuse to eat candied yam what-do-you-call-it and turkey and actually get my hands on gravy is too good to miss. 
163: I know what an avocado is. I eat them all the time. They grow in my back yard. I eat the ones that are from my yard if the dog doesn’t get to them first :D.
