At exactly midnight, we rushed out of Michal’s house and popped firecrackers and destroyed Michal’s lawn w/ Silly String. ‘Twas tremendous fun. Then we ran up and down the street with those annoying whistle things and woke everyone up. Then my brother went home after much commotion and me and Michal stayed up till 2:15 watching the aforementioned Alex Rider movie. OMGY it was SO TOTALLY WICKED. And we drank bubbly apple cider, yum yum.

I went to a party at my friends house where we watched austin powers, then drank the sparkling juice stuff, then went outside and had a snowball fight then went back inside and the guys left except a few and we started to watch pulp fiction because it was on tv and then the rest of the guys left and we got too tired and went to bed and talked and went to sleep.

We had a part-ee in my teensy weensy apartment and at twelve we ran onto the terrace and opened a bottle of champagne. The cork was blasted into oblivion. Then my friend and I sang raucous songs for a half hour, in the cold and the rain. The wimpy adults had gone inside after a futile attempt to sing Auld Lang Syne. None of us really knew the tune. But when we were screeching to welcome in the new year, there was another party somewhere in the Wildernesse of Buildings that screeched back. We showed them what was what.

18 – You have snow?!?!?!?! THATS NOT FAIR!!!!!!!! *whimpers painfully and starts crying* I’ve only been able to go snowboarding ONCE this year and it was in about half an inch of snow. There wasn’t even enough for a decent snowball. And I wasn’t allowed to do it before school and after school I could only go down this puny hill that had been saved by the shade. GRRRRRR.

17-yay! bob is happy
Bill called and invited me over to her house but we were doing our traditional intense nye board games so i invited her over instead and we played intense games. Connect four champion, yet again, is moi. No schmere though, pater had to work :'( and bill didn’t know how to play. We could have taught her but lb objected.
Stayed up until around 2ish? idk, we were playing trivial pursuit until around 12:30, then we took bill home, then i read and listened to moosik (got some new stuffins on my ipod :D) until around 2 i think. then fell asleep. Fortunately woke up at around 3:30 to turn ipod off, so it’s not out of battery yet.
I apolsogizez for neglect of luvverly MB, but i haven’t been through the new threads yet and probably won’t. Gots to start homeworkings, which are large and numerous. Grr. Plus menny menny bookses to read. Anyhoo, in case anybody wants to know i’m getting a mostly harmless hoodie with the siggies on the back. Mostly harmless forever!!!

I’m so sleepy. I really hope I didn’t have homework, although I should probably go check. I’m in denial about school starting again. I almost wish I was sick so I could stay home. Blargh.
Last night was fun. KT was on TV twice, and I kept singing along. Sarah laughed at me. xD
We watched 10 Things I Hate About You and Miss Congeniality, both of which I’ve seen about a billion times. Then I went on MB and Gaia for a while Sarah and Harriet yelled at me to get off the laptop. I was wide awake from all the sparkling cranberry and cherry juice I had (usually we have apple but the store didn’t have any). I finally turned it off, and they fell asleep immediately whereas I couldn’t sleep, so they woke me up in the morning. It was so mean. Dx

29 ~ Same here with the snowlessness. It sucks. I mean, it’s January, for crying out loud, and I was comfortable outside in a sweatshirt. Usually in January, as I told Sarah, I go outside in a sweatshirt anyway, but I wish I had a warm coat. Not the case at all this year.
As for the global warming thread, it’s sort of covered in Hot Topics, except that people tend to not want to discuss it because it’s kind of overdone. I, personally, will drive a topic into the ground until everyone goes mad.

We had a few plans flying around, but that thread has kind of been forgotten about, and everyone got side-tracked. I already sort of had a reputation as an environmentalist, but now that’s nothing. I don’t watch movies and don’t have a TV, but I bought it and played it on my computer… MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!!
33- The next Ice Age could be much sooner than that and this is not just a heat cycle that we’re going through. Since there is more land in the northern hemisphere, there are more plants. When the northern hemisphere is tilted towards the sun, the plants breathe in carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. When the northern hemisphere tilts away, the plants die breathe out the stored carbon dioxide. Then there is more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. When the suns rays come through the atmosphere in the form of light, they bounce of the Earth in the form of infrared rays. Some infrared rays are trapped by the greenhouse gases (methane, carbon dioxide) and are converted to heat. This is good because it keeps Earth at a livable temperature. The rest of the infrared rays simply escape into outer space. But if there is more carbon dioxide, more infrared rays are trapped and converted to heat, heating the Earth. Cars and chopping down trees are big contributors to carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Right now the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is at 380 parts per million (or around there), which is WAY WAY WAY more than it’s ever been in thousands of years. I don’t know if you already knew that or not, but just in case I put that whole thing in. So, the earth is warming up. Greenland and Antarctica are in grave danger of melting: indeed, there are pools of liquid water burrowing holes in the ice like swiss cheese even as we post. The water gets to the bedrock and lifts the ice a little. It then forces that bit of ice to break off from the rest. This is happening, not only on the edges of the ice, but in the middle of the continents. All the ice is melting. If Greenland melts, sea level worldwide will go up TWENTY FEET. That would mean hundreds of millions of refugees. The following may seem off-topic but it isn’t. During the last Ice Age, a big pool formed in North America (the Great Lakes are its remains). There was an ice dam between it and the Atlantic, and one day at the end of the ice age that broke. The lake water gushed out into that part of the Atlantic (right below Greenland, wedged between America and Europe). That part of the Atlantic is delicate: the warm currents on the surface of the ocean get colder and sink. It’s a whirl pool/loop. When the lake gushed into that, the whirl pool/loop stopped spinning. The whole ocean- stopped. And Europe went into an Ice Age for another thousand years. But now there is no lake whose ice dam will melt. Is there another body of ice or water that could flow into that loop? Oh yeah, Greenland. And if Greenland melts, which seems to be happening, another Ice Age could very well happen. Just like that. Maybe in ten years.

My first day back didn’t completely suck. I have to thank MB for eliminating the time I usually spend staring at a wall trying to think of a topic for my spelling story (a short story/paragraph including all of the week’s ridiculously easy spelling words). I immediately got my inspiration – an explanation of Muse’s hot pink bunnies.

To be random, my printer is completely out of yellow ink. I had to print a picture of a car for art (don’t ask) and it came out looking purpleish blue instead of silver.. And then I did a test of magenta, yellow, and that blue color whatever it’s called (the three printing ink colors), and NO YELLOW. It’s never all run out at once before. Usually a little at a time… and I rarely print color.

89- To the Santa question that I was not answering because I was afraid to– I would call police from the phone the farthest away, then go into my parent’s room and protect them. More creative answer below.
She enters the living room on tiptoe, silent, silent. The morning sun is just poking its head in, roaming along the walls. It’s a cold light, wan and frail. She fancied that if you breathed on them, they’d melt away, like cobwebs. Then a glance at the tree to assess the presents… and there is Santa. Dead on the floor with blood oozing from multiple wounds, his beard stained forever. His pupils had rolled up into his head. First thought: Mom won’t be happy about the floor. Second thought: Better run. Third thought: Who did this?? And then she saw him, a stranger in a black suit, standing near the tree, pretty much above Santa Claus. Then he barked, “Mwahaha! Vengeance has been mine!” Had he seen her? Apparently not. She slunk along a dark wall, trying not to rustle in her pyjamas. Yes, there it was: the Samurai sword, hanging very high up on the wall, still sheathed, still untouched. She got beneath it, then strained to reach it. Just as her fingertips grazed the sheath, a beam of sunlight crossed her face. Oh no! He’d seen her. She snatched the sword from the wall and unsheathed it. It glinted and the stranger stepped back. She did not drop the wooden sheath to the floor, but kept it in case she would need to knock his head. She had never fought with a samurai blade before, only a foil at fencing. She lunged. She missed. The stranger cackled but moved away. He was moving towards Santa… he was picking Santa up! And then she realized: he was going to use Santa as a shield! No. Not if she could help it. She knocked Santa out of the way with the sheath, catching the stranger off guard. Then she faked to the left and stabbed to the right. It hit something. But had it hit the tree or the man? The tree was spurting sap everywhere, and she could almost hear cries of ‘I’m wounded!’ and ‘You killed an innocent!’ The man was surprised. As he was directly in front of the tree, he got sap sprayed on him. He quickly turned his head to see what was happening and got sap in his eyes. He screeched, dropping Santa and clutching, clawing , at his cheeks and eyes. She tried to make herself lunge at him, hurt him. But suddenly she couldn’t. And why hadn’t her parents woken up? The stranger wasn’t exactly quiet. Then a thought struck– were they…?

Mine pater told me about that. I said “they can’t ban pwn! It pwns!” He also said somebody at his work always does his password in 1337 (they have to have numbers, letters, and symbols). I know dad’s password…teehee. Except they have to change it all the time so people don’t hack in and mess it up. Plus i don’t know his username. It has too many numbers. They’re so easy, actually, and I always get a four (it’s sort of like getting an A – scores are divided into four broader categories, four being the highest). Unfortunately, I have to go to this practice session next Wednesday anyway, because if I don’t go, I can’t go to the eighth grade sleepover at school, which sounds really fun. Sigh.
Perhaps due to this loverly state testing, I haven’t heard about any midterms.
Maybe we don’t have to take any…then again, maybe the teachers haven’t gotten around to it.

bleh. I really hate my chior teacher he teaches 3 of my @%& classes. And we do basically the same thing in each of them And he’s also evil really really all for the abolishment of seperation of church and state and he keeps reading religious stuff in class and telling us that we should take the existence of all of the bible people as historic fact. I don’t really like that at all since I’m jewish and my dad (a rabbi) wants to sue him for some of the worst things he’s said.

132-Banff has the steepest slopes in North America in Norquay. Also, as I’m sure you’ve heard Europe had no snow this year, so the place was flooded. Also, it was the camp Revchriste. (Stupid nickname someone made up in, like, the 70s.) Fisheye Kinkade (not real name) ran into one of those bright orange, four-by-four SLOW signs and it was really, really, really, funny. Plus I have been skiing since I was three, so I’m one of those “damn Canadians” but I can laugh at the Swiss guys when they call me a Yank in French. It was a great holiday.
Not too much else happened. I am still catching up…

14–filming is so fun, ya know? I love to make fun of myself when I look at my films. You should make fun of yourself too. Pop some popcorn, and through it at it and shout “Boo!” whenever you come on! That’s real fun right there. On Christmas day me and my eccentric sister filmed Scrooge. We used a table cloth and two sticky stars to make future, a sock for Marley, a big fur coat for Christmas present, and a Barbie for Belle (you know, Scrooge’s girlfriend who says “you should be happy in the life you have chosen”, thingie). We didn’t really do Christmas past. Just short of a shiny light. I was Scrooge. My sister was everyone else. Bah humbug!!!

We had the fr00dy lab today. In which I made a big ball of C. Not a Buckyball; each face was a pentagon. But it was mad cool. I commandeered everyone’s C. And someone wanted to steal it for his cover picture, but my group is using it. The actual models took about the first half of the class to make [we had quite a few to do, and photograph, so we didn’t have to draw them, plus, we were talking] and then we just made random stuff. Funfunfun. Though I didn’t have time to make TNT….C7H5N3O6……there’s a benzene ring in it…hmm….with a bunch of NO2s….. It was fun. A kid wanted to do the structure for crystal meth…lol. [funny because anything drug-related pretty much scares him. muchly.] The rest of the time I discussed the particulars of backwards time travel [and why people in books/movies were stupid when they did it] and how battle mechanics were really confusing w/ one of my lab partners. I was told by my other partner to purchase cookies for him when I ran out of C. I got more Cs instead and he had no cookies.
A week to the end of the marking period. I’m so screwed.

Yes! I love videoconferencing too. It adds a whole new dimension. You can see!! I videoconference with my parents, who live in Maryland. (I live in California.). Sometimes I videoconference with my brother’s family too but lately that hasn’t been working. boo hoo.
There are definitely some weird things about videoconferencing, though. Like the lack of eye contact because usually no one is looking straight into the camera — they’re looking at the images on their computer screen instead. And it’s also hard for us to figure out a ritual for “hanging up.” And I have to make sure I look presentable before I call or answer.

They will have a sudden urge to go outside and watch as the mysterious pies soar through the air. Once fully distracted, we can get in and search for the treasure trove, hide it in a huge cello case and walk back out through the front doors as the Muse workers come inside. Oblivious to the fact that the cello case does not really hold a cello, they will simply smile and think, “My, those orchestra teachers sure are getting harsher. Poor kid, carrying such a heavy cello- wait a minute! Why would a kid with a cello be in our office?!” But alas we will be long gone by then.

Oh, and kitten says hi. Again. She’s been pestering me to go on and tell them she says hi but I kept telling her that I couldn’t really go on that much, but nooooo, she kept pestering me with emails. 185- iChat is the Mac equivalent of AIM. You can log in using your AIM screenname, and have all your AIM buddies on your buddy list, but it’s a Mac program.

71- Yesterday for my English journal free entry I wrote about how the penguins are taking over.
And in social studies Friday I made a monty python reference. One other guy and the teacher understood it. We were voting on the best immigration story, and I was the only one to vote for the one about people escaping the Inquisition, and the teacher commented on it. I said “Because nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition” and then the teacher started talking about his favorite episode and we all went off into tangent-land. It was funny.

ichat’s just for macs. and actually from what i’ve heard, AIM has kewler stuff but i’m too lazy to download it, seeing as ichat comes with. Plus this comp is overused and the fan’s messed, and the one downstairs has a messed up motherboard or something so we have to run old programs for everything. We don’t even use the mail app down there.
i just watched the philosopher’s drinking song again. ’twas funny as always. And i just remembered i totally have an itunes gift card from my b-day (in oct…) that i haven’t used. (Which is good b/c none of my friends are likely to have that, and my comp doesn’t cooperate with free downloading. hrumph.) So yah, i wants it precious.
We went to the library book sale and bought a load of books. Paperbacks 3 for a dollar. ♥ Also parentals got a history of the pentagon (hardcover) that looks pretty interesting. And mater had to get some college info books, even though you can find everything on the internet/in the library/from your counselor/wherever. But that’s mater.
Needing choklit…they’ve been doing some kind of construction over by cvs…expanding it or something. It’s still open but it’s been incredibly rainy and the surrounding area is all mud. So nobody’s been in there for a while.
I got new glasses. I think i mentioned that. they’re blue. squeeness. Actually my prescription didn’t change (it hasn’t in 2 yrs) but mater was like “whatever, we’re covered and those glasses are old” so everybody got new glasses.
I should be getting some packages soon… My uber-pwning Mostly Harmless/siggie hoodie, my blue lake hoodie that got left in the hotel parking lot when we went to GR (not my fault! I put it on the rack and then it fell off. we didn’t miss it until we were halfway home. But the hotel found it and they’re sending it back) So happyfulness.
my hair’s starting to bug me again. mebbe i get it cut shorter next time. it grows back way too fast for a haircut-loather like me…

I have iChat now! Yay! I had AIM first, so I just used my AIM screen name. (Which is… just kidding. Some of you have it already anyway.)
The advantages to AIM over iChat:
1) You can see a buddy profile. I can’t figure out how to see it on iChat, or you just can’t.
2) It’s easier to add a buddy to your buddy list.
3) It’s easier to sort your buddy list however you want.
4) It’s easier to change what font/color of the font.
5) You can do a lot from the conversation window that you can’t do from the conversation window in iChat.
6) It saves all of your conversations. (You have to turn it on, but after that it does automatically)
7) It’s free (is iChat? It told me I got a free 60 day trial, and then I would have to pay. Is that true?)
The advantages of iChat over AIM:
1) Better graphics.
2) How you can run your mouse over someone’s screen name and it tells you if they are available or not, and if not, their away message.
3) Advertisement free (at least so far).
4) No anoying pop up reminding you about AIM mail every time you sign in.
5) Spell check.
6) Video/phone conferencing (or whatever it’s called). Even though video doesn’t work on my computer and I haven’t tried sound yet.
7) More font/color of the font options.
I know this sounds biased towards AIM, but that’s only because I’ve only been using iChat for less than a day.

I am back from my exciting weekend involving a trip to Massachusetts to see a UMass hockey game (sososo fun, plus I got to see my cousin and his girlfriend since they go to UMass, plus my friend’s parents bought me an incredibly awesome UMass hockey shirt) and my friend’s birthday party, where we had iPod cakes, which I helped make. They were so cool, because we took brownies and frosted them (which is blasphemous, I know, but it was worth it because they looked awesome. Even though I had to scrape all the icing off before I could eat it) and used rolled out gumdrops for the screen and circly scrolly thing, and candy strings for the wires, and Good ‘n Plenties and Mentos (which we later combined with Coke ) for earbuds. It was AWESOME.
Uh, yeah, I was going to say something else but I forget.
197 ~ I wrote about the takeover of the llamas for English once. That’s when we had an awesome substitute. She loved my story and kept it. Last week, I wrote about the HPBs, but my normal English teacher doesn’t give a damn what we write, as long as it’s grammatically correct. It’s so sad.

Brave Sir Robin – in iChat, it is much easier to add a buddy to your buddy list. You just press the + in the left hand corner of the buddy list to add someone.
– You can also save conversations in iChat. And it does it automatically. You can turn it off, though.
– iChat is free, too.
– Yep, iChat has no advertisements or pop-up things.
– OMG video and voice conferencing on iChat is AWESOME!!!!!

Went to watch the engineering projects today. Today’s group had a really spiffy ballista. Which was completely fr00dy, even if it only kinda-functioned and they did it in the English system. The teacher wouldn’t let them launch it indoors, and they could not go inside because it was [and is] raining.And the one kid had really stupid shoes, but that wasn’t really part of the project…

Yays. I’m back from my MB hiatus.
Guess what? I totally broke my Internet. See, it wasn’t working v well (before I broke it)…I pulled the cable thingie out of the wall, b/c that works sometimes (Unplugging it + plugging it in again sometimes makes the connection better)…and the whole box came with it. Fortunately, my LB is a computer geek, and he found a way to get us online again (We have to unplug the phone, though).
Friday was awesome! After skool, Jason (I don’t know why I’ve beene calling him J…) and I were looking for a ride to the mall (It’s on the West Side. We’re on the East Side)…We ran into Dingo and Alyssa – It turned out that their bus has a stop near the mall – However, we had been loitering around awhile…and the bus was about to leave. Man, we sprinted out to that bus. I got on the bus, thinking that there were going to be a lot of ppl giving us funny looks (We were all dressed pretty gothic today). Instead, a bunch of ppl in the back of the bus were like “HI METALFAERY!! HI DINGO!! HI ALYSSA!!” It was so funny. I guess Britainy, Corey, Anthony…and a bunch of other random ppl I know ride that bus as well.
We decided not to see Black Xmas…So we just hung out at the mall from four until eight-thirty. Then we walked over to Alyssa’s house…Alyssa and I both have an MCR obsession, so we put 3 Cheers in her CD player + played Prison, just to freak out Jason and Dingo. And then Jason gave me a massage…and then it turned into a tickle-torture type thing…Good times.

I am procrastinating on my Social Studies speech. Technically, I am done, but I have to write the speech/notes up on notecards and change a date because I am doing a speech on Gerald Ford and he just died so… yeah.
I’m having a good day today. Although it’s raining. I think I aced my math test, and I know I aced that English Benchmark test. It was really easy. Speaking of my math test, I still need to get my friend to explain how he got to one of the extra credit answers… I couldn’t get it… I did get one extra credit point though. I’m pretty sure.
I got to get out of school early! I had a doctor’s appointment. Actually, all I needed was a renewal of my perscription thingy for my ear infection, but the doctor told us to come in. Ah well.
I’m listening to Relient K right now. Yay!!!! Squee!!!
My friends are fighting again… Man, it gets REALLY annoying! Especially when they start cursing at each other. That’s when I leave and talk to my other friend.
Ugh… My characters in my story are bothering me! Literally, they are seriously bothering me. I can kind of see/hear them in my mind and they won’t SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!! I thought it might interest the general populous that I used Muse for my extra credit thing in Language Arts. We were supposed ot find something that related to Greek mythology. Here’s my paragraph, if anyone’s interestd. I hope my description of the magazine isn’t too off, I couldn’t quite capture the essence of what Muse is!
The attached image is part of the cover of the magazine Muse. This relates to mythology because the magazine is an interesting magazine for “bright†children; it has a more intellectual spin to it, but is also very fun to read, with diverse topics that range from global warming and cavefish to The Lord of the Rings and tenrecs (a rare specie that resembles a mole and a shrew). The magazine is meant to stir the imaginations and curiosity of its audience, much as the talented muses did in the tales of mythology.

This is the fourth really really bad thing that has happened since I moved here. I really can’t believe it, because stuff like this doesn’t usually happen! Or so I thought.
A boy who I hear was at my school last year, although I don’t know him, was shot and killed yesterday. It’s really shocking news, because, as I said, this isn’t routine at all. Apparently there was some kind of gang fight on Sunday that spawned this. It’s just astonishing, and affected a lot of people at my school who were friends with him.
Last spring, the mother of a girl at our school was stabbed over thirty times. It’s a bizarre case. I don’t think they’ve figured out anything about why.
The fall of the same year, we had a hate rally, caused by a fight between a black boy and a white boy at the high school. A white supremacist came to our town. Bad stuff.
And the spring prior to that, there was a shooting at the mall. That was the only one that really affected me, because I was there. Thank god no one was killed or anything, but it was really scary.
And now you know the story of Margaret’s town going over to the dark side. I believe there was another suspected murder or two recently, but not so highly publicised because they don’t really know what happened.
Also, my sister’s lizard died, in case I needed more people crying today.

nothing ever happens in my town except mebbe police cars occasionally cutting through to get to another bit of columbus. There was a shooting at the kroghetto, but that’s outside of snipville. The last thing that personally affected me was several years ago when one of the eighth graders was stabbed to death by her father, who then killed himself. And my school isn’t really that big, only about five or six hundred students. It was really shocking.

Well, this stuff is pretty sporadic. Not enough to make us or anyone else (that I know of) leave. It’s just that when one thing happens it brings back a lot of those memories, and having them all in one place makes it sound more dramatic.
Also, they’ve got a suspect in the kid’s shooting in custody, which is good. ^^

I’m interested in starting a RRR. They always go screwy because:
a. Too many writers to keep up with the story.
b. No writers.
c. Someone changes the whole storyline and then leaves us high and dry.
d. The story is going to fast because everyone wants to make something big happen.

Everyone posts as if they were from a year of their choice (i.e. 1774, 1203, 500 B.C., 5178). They would have to identify the year they were from, and act and talk like people really did/will back then/when that year comes. And no one would be able to have the same year as anyone else. They could have a consecutive year (i.e. 1567, 1568), but not the same.
Does anyone like that idea?

To make a long word with several adjectives in front of it and maybe a couple proper nouns, adjective, and a preposition after it short, that’s sort of rude…

At exactly midnight, we rushed out of Michal’s house and popped firecrackers and destroyed Michal’s lawn w/ Silly String. ‘Twas tremendous fun. Then we ran up and down the street with those annoying whistle things and woke everyone up. Then my brother went home after much commotion and me and Michal stayed up till 2:15 watching the aforementioned Alex Rider movie. OMGY it was SO TOTALLY WICKED. And we drank bubbly apple cider, yum yum.
We had sparkling grape juice at my friends house. Yum… reminded me of the time at Lianna’s Shakespeare party and we drank 6 bottles of the stuff between filming. Ah, good times.

Happy new year! I went to a party at my friends house where we watched austin powers, then drank the sparkling juice stuff, then went outside and had a snowball fight then went back inside and the guys left except a few and we started to watch pulp fiction because it was on tv and then the rest of the guys left and we got too tired and went to bed and talked and went to sleep.
We had a part-ee in my teensy weensy apartment and at twelve we ran onto the terrace and opened a bottle of champagne. The cork was blasted into oblivion. Then my friend and I sang raucous songs for a half hour, in the cold and the rain. The wimpy adults had gone inside after a futile attempt to sing Auld Lang Syne. None of us really knew the tune. But when we were screeching to welcome in the new year, there was another party somewhere in the Wildernesse of Buildings that screeched back. We showed them what was what.
Did I mention that the cork squeaked ‘bombs away’ when it was launched into the Darknesse? Well, it did.
18 – You have snow?!?!?!?! THATS NOT FAIR!!!!!!!! *whimpers painfully and starts crying* I’ve only been able to go snowboarding ONCE this year and it was in about half an inch of snow. There wasn’t even enough for a decent snowball. And I wasn’t allowed to do it before school and after school I could only go down this puny hill that had been saved by the shade. GRRRRRR.

Stayed up until around 2ish? idk, we were playing trivial pursuit until around 12:30, then we took bill home, then i read and listened to moosik (got some new stuffins on my ipod :D) until around 2 i think. then fell asleep. Fortunately woke up at around 3:30 to turn ipod off, so it’s not out of battery yet.

I finally turned it off, and they fell asleep immediately whereas I couldn’t sleep, so they woke me up in the morning. It was so mean. Dx

29 ~ Same here with the snowlessness. It sucks. I mean, it’s January, for crying out loud, and I was comfortable outside in a sweatshirt. Usually in January, as I told Sarah, I go outside in a sweatshirt anyway, but I wish I had a warm coat. Not the case at all this year.
As for the global warming thread, it’s sort of covered in Hot Topics, except that people tend to not want to discuss it because it’s kind of overdone. I, personally, will drive a topic into the ground until everyone goes mad.

I already sort of had a reputation as an environmentalist, but now that’s nothing. I don’t watch movies and don’t have a TV, but I bought it and played it on my computer… MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!!
33- The next Ice Age could be much sooner than that and this is not just a heat cycle that we’re going through. Since there is more land in the northern hemisphere, there are more plants. When the northern hemisphere is tilted towards the sun, the plants breathe in carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. When the northern hemisphere tilts away, the plants die breathe out the stored carbon dioxide. Then there is more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. When the suns rays come through the atmosphere in the form of light, they bounce of the Earth in the form of infrared rays. Some infrared rays are trapped by the greenhouse gases (methane, carbon dioxide) and are converted to heat. This is good because it keeps Earth at a livable temperature. The rest of the infrared rays simply escape into outer space. But if there is more carbon dioxide, more infrared rays are trapped and converted to heat, heating the Earth. Cars and chopping down trees are big contributors to carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Right now the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is at 380 parts per million (or around there), which is WAY WAY WAY more than it’s ever been in thousands of years. I don’t know if you already knew that or not, but just in case I put that whole thing in. So, the earth is warming up. Greenland and Antarctica are in grave danger of melting: indeed, there are pools of liquid water burrowing holes in the ice like swiss cheese even as we post. The water gets to the bedrock and lifts the ice a little. It then forces that bit of ice to break off from the rest. This is happening, not only on the edges of the ice, but in the middle of the continents. All the ice is melting. If Greenland melts, sea level worldwide will go up TWENTY FEET. That would mean hundreds of millions of refugees. The following may seem off-topic but it isn’t. During the last Ice Age, a big pool formed in North America (the Great Lakes are its remains). There was an ice dam between it and the Atlantic, and one day at the end of the ice age that broke. The lake water gushed out into that part of the Atlantic (right below Greenland, wedged between America and Europe). That part of the Atlantic is delicate: the warm currents on the surface of the ocean get colder and sink. It’s a whirl pool/loop. When the lake gushed into that, the whirl pool/loop stopped spinning. The whole ocean- stopped. And Europe went into an Ice Age for another thousand years. But now there is no lake whose ice dam will melt. Is there another body of ice or water that could flow into that loop? Oh yeah, Greenland. And if Greenland melts, which seems to be happening, another Ice Age could very well happen. Just like that. Maybe in ten years.

My first day back didn’t completely suck. I have to thank MB for eliminating the time I usually spend staring at a wall trying to think of a topic for my spelling story (a short story/paragraph including all of the week’s ridiculously easy spelling words). I immediately got my inspiration – an explanation of Muse’s hot pink bunnies.

To be random, my printer is completely out of yellow ink. I had to print a picture of a car for art (don’t ask) and it came out looking purpleish blue instead of silver.. And then I did a test of magenta, yellow, and that blue color whatever it’s called (the three printing ink colors), and NO YELLOW. It’s never all run out at once before. Usually a little at a time… and I rarely print color.

89- To the Santa question that I was not answering because I was afraid to– I would call police from the phone the farthest away, then go into my parent’s room and protect them. More creative answer below.
She enters the living room on tiptoe, silent, silent. The morning sun is just poking its head in, roaming along the walls. It’s a cold light, wan and frail. She fancied that if you breathed on them, they’d melt away, like cobwebs. Then a glance at the tree to assess the presents… and there is Santa. Dead on the floor with blood oozing from multiple wounds, his beard stained forever. His pupils had rolled up into his head. First thought: Mom won’t be happy about the floor. Second thought: Better run. Third thought: Who did this?? And then she saw him, a stranger in a black suit, standing near the tree, pretty much above Santa Claus. Then he barked, “Mwahaha! Vengeance has been mine!” Had he seen her? Apparently not. She slunk along a dark wall, trying not to rustle in her pyjamas. Yes, there it was: the Samurai sword, hanging very high up on the wall, still sheathed, still untouched. She got beneath it, then strained to reach it. Just as her fingertips grazed the sheath, a beam of sunlight crossed her face. Oh no! He’d seen her. She snatched the sword from the wall and unsheathed it. It glinted and the stranger stepped back. She did not drop the wooden sheath to the floor, but kept it in case she would need to knock his head. She had never fought with a samurai blade before, only a foil at fencing. She lunged. She missed. The stranger cackled but moved away. He was moving towards Santa… he was picking Santa up! And then she realized: he was going to use Santa as a shield! No. Not if she could help it. She knocked Santa out of the way with the sheath, catching the stranger off guard. Then she faked to the left and stabbed to the right. It hit something. But had it hit the tree or the man? The tree was spurting sap everywhere, and she could almost hear cries of ‘I’m wounded!’ and ‘You killed an innocent!’ The man was surprised. As he was directly in front of the tree, he got sap sprayed on him. He quickly turned his head to see what was happening and got sap in his eyes. He screeched, dropping Santa and clutching, clawing , at his cheeks and eyes. She tried to make herself lunge at him, hurt him. But suddenly she couldn’t. And why hadn’t her parents woken up? The stranger wasn’t exactly quiet. Then a thought struck– were they…?

132-Banff has the steepest slopes in North America in Norquay. Also, as I’m sure you’ve heard Europe had no snow this year, so the place was flooded. Also, it was the camp Revchriste. (Stupid nickname someone made up in, like, the 70s.) Fisheye Kinkade (not real name) ran into one of those bright orange, four-by-four SLOW signs and it was really, really, really, funny. Plus I have been skiing since I was three, so I’m one of those “damn Canadians” but I can laugh at the Swiss guys when they call me a Yank in French. It was a great holiday.

14–filming is so fun, ya know? I love to make fun of myself when I look at my films. You should make fun of yourself too. Pop some popcorn, and through it at it and shout “Boo!” whenever you come on! That’s real fun right there. On Christmas day me and my eccentric sister filmed Scrooge. We used a table cloth and two sticky stars to make future, a sock for Marley, a big fur coat for Christmas present, and a Barbie for Belle (you know, Scrooge’s girlfriend who says “you should be happy in the life you have chosen”, thingie). We didn’t really do Christmas past. Just short of a shiny light. I was Scrooge. My sister was everyone else. Bah humbug!!!

We had the fr00dy lab today. In which I made a big ball of C. Not a Buckyball; each face was a pentagon. But it was mad cool. I commandeered everyone’s C. And someone wanted to steal it for his cover picture, but my group is using it. The actual models took about the first half of the class to make [we had quite a few to do, and photograph, so we didn’t have to draw them, plus, we were talking] and then we just made random stuff. Funfunfun. Though I didn’t have time to make TNT….C7H5N3O6……there’s a benzene ring in it…hmm….with a bunch of NO2s….. It was fun. A kid wanted to do the structure for crystal meth…lol. [funny because anything drug-related pretty much scares him. muchly.] The rest of the time I discussed the particulars of backwards time travel [and why people in books/movies were stupid when they did it] and how battle mechanics were really confusing w/ one of my lab partners. I was told by my other partner to purchase cookies for him when I ran out of C. I got more Cs instead and he had no cookies.
A week to the end of the marking period. I’m so screwed.

Yes! I love videoconferencing too. It adds a whole new dimension. You can see!! I videoconference with my parents, who live in Maryland. (I live in California.). Sometimes I videoconference with my brother’s family too but lately that hasn’t been working. boo hoo.
There are definitely some weird things about videoconferencing, though. Like the lack of eye contact because usually no one is looking straight into the camera — they’re looking at the images on their computer screen instead. And it’s also hard for us to figure out a ritual for “hanging up.” And I have to make sure I look presentable before I call or answer.
171 ~ I have a webcam but I rarely use it…I have no one to conference with. Also, the quality sucks. But I do voice chats with Skype all the time which I really like.

They will have a sudden urge to go outside and watch as the mysterious pies soar through the air. Once fully distracted, we can get in and search for the treasure trove, hide it in a huge cello case and walk back out through the front doors as the Muse workers come inside. Oblivious to the fact that the cello case does not really hold a cello, they will simply smile and think, “My, those orchestra teachers sure are getting harsher. Poor kid, carrying such a heavy cello- wait a minute! Why would a kid with a cello be in our office?!” But alas we will be long gone by then.

I, kricket, am BACK!!! Sorry that I haven’t been on Muse for a long while, I just had so much to do! Okay not that much, but I just couldn’t really get on that much… Also, I was working on my novel so… yeah. Anyways, I’m BACK!
Okay, so what’s been going on in my absence? And what is iChat? Yes, I actually read this whole thread before I posted. That took a while!
Oh, and kitten says hi. Again. She’s been pestering me to go on and tell them she says hi but I kept telling her that I couldn’t really go on that much, but nooooo, she kept pestering me with emails. Ah well. So there’s her message. Her mom won’t let her go on for fear of ‘stalkers’ and trust me, there is no reasoning with her mom when she makes up her mind. kitten is very sad that she can’t go on though. So she says hi.
I’m really really bored. I have to do a speech for Social Studies. Yuck. I hate giving speeches. Okay, hate’s too strong of a word. I extremely dislike giving speeches. There we go. My speech is on Gerald Ford. And now that he just died, I have to change a lot of stuff. Alright, not a lot of stuff. And I actually have to finish it too. At least I don’t have to go first.

185- iChat is the Mac equivalent of AIM. You can log in using your AIM screenname, and have all your AIM buddies on your buddy list, but it’s a Mac program.
193- Oh… Okay. I get it now… Maybe I’ll get iChat… if my parents will let me of course.
I think iChat only works on macs. But I’m not sure. It’s really cool, because you can do voice and video conferences with people. Squee!

71- Yesterday for my English journal free entry I wrote about how the penguins are taking over.
And in social studies Friday I made a monty python reference. One other guy and the teacher understood it. We were voting on the best immigration story, and I was the only one to vote for the one about people escaping the Inquisition, and the teacher commented on it. I said “Because nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition” and then the teacher started talking about his favorite episode and we all went off into tangent-land. It was funny.

ichat’s just for macs. and actually from what i’ve heard, AIM has kewler stuff but i’m too lazy to download it, seeing as ichat comes with. Plus this comp is overused and the fan’s messed, and the one downstairs has a messed up motherboard or something so we have to run old programs for everything. We don’t even use the mail app down there.
i just watched the philosopher’s drinking song again. ’twas funny as always. And i just remembered i totally have an itunes gift card from my b-day (in oct…) that i haven’t used. (Which is good b/c none of my friends are likely to have that, and my comp doesn’t cooperate with free downloading. hrumph.) So yah, i wants it precious.
We went to the library book sale and bought a load of books. Paperbacks 3 for a dollar. ♥ Also parentals got a history of the pentagon (hardcover) that looks pretty interesting. And mater had to get some college info books, even though you can find everything on the internet/in the library/from your counselor/wherever. But that’s mater.
Needing choklit…they’ve been doing some kind of construction over by cvs…expanding it or something. It’s still open but it’s been incredibly rainy and the surrounding area is all mud. So nobody’s been in there for a while.
I got new glasses. I think i mentioned that. they’re blue. squeeness. Actually my prescription didn’t change (it hasn’t in 2 yrs) but mater was like “whatever, we’re covered and those glasses are old” so everybody got new glasses.
I should be getting some packages soon…

BOREDBOREDMOREBORED. Gosh. I think I should’ve gone to the library after all…
I have iChat now! Yay! I had AIM first, so I just used my AIM screen name. (Which is… just kidding. Some of you have it already anyway.)
The advantages to AIM over iChat:
1) You can see a buddy profile. I can’t figure out how to see it on iChat, or you just can’t.
2) It’s easier to add a buddy to your buddy list.
3) It’s easier to sort your buddy list however you want.
4) It’s easier to change what font/color of the font.
5) You can do a lot from the conversation window that you can’t do from the conversation window in iChat.
6) It saves all of your conversations. (You have to turn it on, but after that it does automatically)
7) It’s free (is iChat? It told me I got a free 60 day trial, and then I would have to pay. Is that true?)
The advantages of iChat over AIM:
1) Better graphics.
2) How you can run your mouse over someone’s screen name and it tells you if they are available or not, and if not, their away message.
3) Advertisement free (at least so far).
4) No anoying pop up reminding you about AIM mail every time you sign in.
5) Spell check.
6) Video/phone conferencing (or whatever it’s called). Even though video doesn’t work on my computer and I haven’t tried sound yet.
7) More font/color of the font options.
I know this sounds biased towards AIM, but that’s only because I’ve only been using iChat for less than a day.

I am back from my exciting weekend involving a trip to Massachusetts to see a UMass hockey game (sososo fun, plus I got to see my cousin and his girlfriend since they go to UMass, plus my friend’s parents bought me an incredibly awesome UMass hockey shirt) and my friend’s birthday party, where we had iPod cakes, which I helped make. They were so cool, because we took brownies and frosted them (which is blasphemous, I know, but it was worth it because they looked awesome. Even though I had to scrape all the icing off before I could eat it) and used rolled out gumdrops for the screen and circly scrolly thing, and candy strings for the wires, and Good ‘n Plenties and Mentos (which we later combined with Coke
) for earbuds. It was AWESOME.
Uh, yeah, I was going to say something else but I forget.
197 ~ I wrote about the takeover of the llamas for English once. That’s when we had an awesome substitute. She loved my story and kept it. Last week, I wrote about the HPBs, but my normal English teacher doesn’t give a damn what we write, as long as it’s grammatically correct. It’s so sad.

Brave Sir Robin – in iChat, it is much easier to add a buddy to your buddy list. You just press the + in the left hand corner of the buddy list to add someone.
– You can also save conversations in iChat. And it does it automatically. You can turn it off, though.
– iChat is free, too.
– Yep, iChat has no advertisements or pop-up things.
– OMG video and voice conferencing on iChat is AWESOME!!!!!
Overall, I find iChat sooooooo much cooler.

Went to watch the engineering projects today. Today’s group had a really spiffy ballista. Which was completely fr00dy, even if it only kinda-functioned and they did it in the English system. The teacher wouldn’t let them launch it indoors, and they could not go inside because it was [and is] raining.And the one kid had really stupid shoes, but that wasn’t really part of the project…

Then they went to the same party and someone introduced them.

See, it wasn’t working v well (before I broke it)…I pulled the cable thingie out of the wall, b/c that works sometimes (Unplugging it + plugging it in again sometimes makes the connection better)…and the whole box came with it. Fortunately, my LB is a computer geek, and he found a way to get us online again (We have to unplug the phone, though).
Friday was awesome! After skool, Jason (I don’t know why I’ve beene calling him J…) and I were looking for a ride to the mall (It’s on the West Side. We’re on the East Side)…We ran into Dingo and Alyssa – It turned out that their bus has a stop near the mall – However, we had been loitering around awhile…and the bus was about to leave. Man, we sprinted out to that bus. I got on the bus, thinking that there were going to be a lot of ppl giving us funny looks (We were all dressed pretty gothic today). Instead, a bunch of ppl in the back of the bus were like “HI METALFAERY!! HI DINGO!! HI ALYSSA!!” It was so funny. I guess Britainy, Corey, Anthony…and a bunch of other random ppl I know ride that bus as well.
We decided not to see Black Xmas…So we just hung out at the mall from four until eight-thirty. Then we walked over to Alyssa’s house…Alyssa and I both have an MCR obsession, so we put 3 Cheers in her CD player + played Prison, just to freak out Jason and Dingo. And then Jason gave me a massage…and then it turned into a tickle-torture type thing…Good times.

Speaking of my math test, I still need to get my friend to explain how he got to one of the extra credit answers… I couldn’t get it… I did get one extra credit point though. I’m pretty sure.
I got to get out of school early! I had a doctor’s appointment. Actually, all I needed was a renewal of my perscription thingy for my ear infection, but the doctor told us to come in. Ah well.

I thought it might interest the general populous that I used Muse for my extra credit thing in Language Arts. We were supposed ot find something that related to Greek mythology. Here’s my paragraph, if anyone’s interestd. I hope my description of the magazine isn’t too off, I couldn’t quite capture the essence of what Muse is!
The attached image is part of the cover of the magazine Muse. This relates to mythology because the magazine is an interesting magazine for “bright†children; it has a more intellectual spin to it, but is also very fun to read, with diverse topics that range from global warming and cavefish to The Lord of the Rings and tenrecs (a rare specie that resembles a mole and a shrew). The magazine is meant to stir the imaginations and curiosity of its audience, much as the talented muses did in the tales of mythology.
-tear- It’s not that good, but five extra points is a lot. To me. And my A- that I barely have. -shakes fist at teacher-

Some days i really hate football…like i don’t enjoy it most of the time but some days i just loathe it with a bitter passion. Like today. What on earth is the big deal? OMG look they smashed into each other again! Let’s stop the clock for another half hour!

This is the fourth really really bad thing that has happened since I moved here. I really can’t believe it, because stuff like this doesn’t usually happen! Or so I thought.
A boy who I hear was at my school last year, although I don’t know him, was shot and killed yesterday. It’s really shocking news, because, as I said, this isn’t routine at all. Apparently there was some kind of gang fight on Sunday that spawned this. It’s just astonishing, and affected a lot of people at my school who were friends with him.
Last spring, the mother of a girl at our school was stabbed over thirty times. It’s a bizarre case. I don’t think they’ve figured out anything about why.
The fall of the same year, we had a hate rally, caused by a fight between a black boy and a white boy at the high school. A white supremacist came to our town. Bad stuff.
And the spring prior to that, there was a shooting at the mall. That was the only one that really affected me, because I was there. Thank god no one was killed or anything, but it was really scary.
And now you know the story of Margaret’s town going over to the dark side. I believe there was another suspected murder or two recently, but not so highly publicised because they don’t really know what happened.
Also, my sister’s lizard died, in case I needed more people crying today.
261- That’s scary……. The worst thing that happened to me was that at my old school, a girl was killed while trying to throw a shotput at feild day. It was worse that everyone from our school was there and her mother was standing behind her when it happened.

Also, you can have audio convos if you have a microphone hooked up to your computer and some kind of program like Skype, or in their case, iChat, that allows you to transmit your voice over the internet and have conversations.

nothing ever happens in my town except mebbe police cars occasionally cutting through to get to another bit of columbus. There was a shooting at the kroghetto, but that’s outside of snipville. Plus we have way too many policemen and they just hang around bored all the time. And circle around druggies’ alley a million times even when nobody’s there.
when we first moved they stalked our house for like a week. We suspect it was b/c of the MI license plates.
but yah, that’s horrible…gangs are not good…and the white supremacist thing is just plain freaky.
I lost my latin binder that i never use, but we have notebook check today. So i’m hoping i’ll find it in my lockers so i can shove all my other stuffins in there.
History is strewn about the floor as i desperately try to remember 20 chapters of scawwy AP stuff. Especially the civil war stuff, we got into the battles a bit more than usual and i get them all mixed up. Plus i don’t remember any of the first few chapts…gaaah…
oh i don’t know any latin either. i have to learn some quickly this week, because it’s the first exam.

261- thats scary. At the beginning of the skoolyear a girl from my sister’s 1st grade class was murdered. It was scary and really well publicised.
261 – Oh. My. Gosh. Wow, you’d better move. I don’t want any awesome MBers like you getting hurt. My town’s pretty big, so I don’t really hear much about this stuff. The last thing that personally affected me was several years ago when one of the eighth graders was stabbed to death by her father, who then killed himself. And my school isn’t really that big, only about five or six hundred students. It was really shocking.

That stuff about your town is awful, Margaret. I hope nothing like that ever happens to you. Nothing that bad really happens in my town. Or, if it does, i don’t hear about. I did find out recently, though, that my town is in the Official Book of Preppiness or something like that. Eww.

Well, this stuff is pretty sporadic. Not enough to make us or anyone else (that I know of) leave. It’s just that when one thing happens it brings back a lot of those memories, and having them all in one place makes it sound more dramatic.
Also, they’ve got a suspect in the kid’s shooting in custody, which is good. ^^
I’m interested in starting a RRR. They always go screwy because:
a. Too many writers to keep up with the story.
b. No writers.
c. Someone changes the whole storyline and then leaves us high and dry.
d. The story is going to fast because everyone wants to make something big happen.
If we could get just four or five people who are really interested, and would continue to post, then may we have a thread?

Everyone posts as if they were from a year of their choice (i.e. 1774, 1203, 500 B.C., 5178). They would have to identify the year they were from, and act and talk like people really did/will back then/when that year comes. And no one would be able to have the same year as anyone else. They could have a consecutive year (i.e. 1567, 1568), but not the same.
Does anyone like that idea?

I don’t get it why people just sort of plow over your posts… I had a really long one that I worked for along time on, telling everything that happened and then some between when I stopped posting on MB and when I started again, and nobody payed any attention to it. To make a long word with several adjectives in front of it and maybe a couple proper nouns, adjective, and a preposition after it short, that’s sort of rude…
