Ugh… Went downtown at 11 last night and met some friends, stayed partying until 3:30 in the morning… You know what’s hilarious? Walking around with a guy who’s so drunk he can’t walk in a straight line and keeps on bumping into walls. Totally funny. Also Aline had a few beers too many and kept falling over whenever she took a sobriety test to see if the last beer had made her any sober. In fact, the only sober guy in our group was me, despite consuming a few alcohol based beverages. So no hangover for me!
And HOW old are you?
Since today, 16!
1- and this is funny/we need to know this because.
2- he’s 16
1: What’s funny is walking around with drunk people. Whenever you need a laugh, get someone drunk.
5- gah, your “parties” are definately cooler than mine – I went over to a friend’s house and, with 2 other friends, watched a film in which there were about 20 main characters (some posh people and their servants) who all spoke in a British accent so you couldn’t understand anything they said and all looked alike.. And it was supposed to be a “who-done-it” but nothing happened in the first hour and a half, besides a lot of “doing it” with various maids/valets.. It was really strange. And we ate stuff and gossiped and yeah.
So, what’s the legal drinking age in Switzerland?
I must agree about the funny drunk people. I personally don’t drink, but I have friends/family who do, and they’re bloody hilarious.
Actually, the funniest-when-drunk person I know is my mother. It’s zarking great.
6: The legal drinking age is… huh, probably 18. Doesn’t matter though, the place was full of securitas people, and everyone was drinking.
Hmm. I don’t drink. And I don’t know about the legal drinking age in Switzerland so I’ll just raise my eyebrows and move on.
I was at a party at my friends house, and we had lots of fun untill one of our friends had to go home- at 11. What’s the point of going to a new years party if you can’t stay till the new year?! Grr. But it was still lots of fun.
*walks into walls, falls over, and starts laughing hysterically*
I admit, watching drunk people is pretty interesting, and often funny. However, I also feel kinda bad for them cuz they’re gonna have a really bad hangover in the morning and they might accidentally do stuff that could really mess up their lives or something.
I’ve never seen a drunk, except my mom who sometimes gets the hiccups after drinking two glasses of red wine. I know I would feel pretty bad for them, too. I’ve decided not to drink.
1 – sounds a bit like my New Years.
8 – no, I’m fairly certain that the legal age in the US (assuming that’s where you are) is 21. Ridiculous, I know. It’s 16 in a good bit of Europe for beer/wine.
I am in no hurry, whatsoever, to drink anything alcoholic. In my opinion, it is a vile drink that smells disgusting. *holds nose*
I thought the discussion thread was supposed to be called “The Incredible Morphing Chameleon Thread” or something like that. I liked that name.
21 is drinking age in U.S. 18 in U.K. 14 in France. I met a drunk once in a Dunkin’ Dounut’s, when I was 7. BTW: The calendar dosen’t have the the birthday of one of the greatest authors ever. Asimov. Tolkens up there. He should be too. Please
(14) Done! I have an Asimov story from personal experience. Remind me to tell it sometime when I have more time to blog.
(13) I like that name, too. I’ll make the change.
I’ve never seen a drunk either, although apparently my uncle was drunk the day after Thanksgiving. Of course, that’s the day when the under-college-aged-people hang out downstairs with pizza and movies and video games and WoW, so I didn’t see. I think it might have been funny, since the reason I know is that I was observing the college-aged-people’s Taboo game, and they were laughing about it when someone got the word “inebriated.”
12- Ahh, but FS is not in the US! He is in Switzerland!
Hmm… the discussion is currently about drinking, aparently. I have only ever tasted alcohol when my mother forgot which cup was hers, so told me mine was the wrong one and I got a mouthfull of foul tasting liquid instead of apple juice when I was 4. Yuck. Doesn’t seem all that apealing to me.
17 – oh, lucky boy. that’s pretty neat.
My mom has gotten drunk before…she wasn’t funny at all. We didn’t know it was drunkeness (if that’s a word), because she told us it was migraines. She got all walking funny, and stumbling, and speech slurring…but there was nothing funny about it…she got really irritable…it was actually kind of scary. I found out, after my family and I found out that it had been alchohol, and not headaches, that people on my mom’s side of the family have a certain automatic tendency to want to drink more, and more, and more alchohol, once they have a bit. We also found out that she was drinking right around the time that she got pregnant with me, and maybe my brother. I’m never going to drink, unless it’s champagne at a wedding, or something like that. Of course, I hardly even like alchohol, so if I don’t acquire a taste for it, we shouldn’t have a problem.
Lemme rephrase that. I DON’T like alchohol…at all, except in Pink Squirrels, a drink that my grandma makes (I tried a bit on Christmas Eve), so, again, no problem.
I really like the taste of wine in small quantities (I have a sip of my parents’ drinks once in a while). I don’t want to go do any underage drinking or anything, though. I’m fine with my sparkling apple cider.
I’ll wait till I’m an adult, and obviously I don’t want to drink huge amounds then either.
19 ~ I don’t think drunk people are always funny or anything, but this particular time I heard that my uncle had been acting pretty silly. That’s the only reason I kind of wish I’d seen it.
What an odd discussion we’re having.
21-I LOVE sparkling apple cider! And grape juice. I’m not even going to when I’m an adult…it’d just be asking for trouble. And seeing someone drunk, if they weren’t irritable, or anything like that, would be pretty funny, I imagine. But, as Isabella said, I’d feel bad for them.
22 ~ I’ve heard that drinking wine in moderation can be good for you, actually, but I don’t know if it’s true.
Sparkling cider is delicious. I had the cranberry and blueberry version at Thanksgiving.
I’ve never had alchohol…my sister tried wine and she said it was terrible, while my parents were going on about how it was so sweet. Do your taste buds change when you grow older ?
o_O
24 ~ Maybe that’s why so many adults like tea… xD I think they do change over time, though probably not in a way that causes all adults to like tea, coffee, wine, beer (I don’t understand how anyone can like that stuff), and vegetables…
I like tea. And why does it say Incredible Morphing Chameleon?
I had sparkling grape juice, and we have normal apple cider. I don’t think I’ve seen sparkling cider, but it sounds good…
23-It’s supposed to help prevent heart disease, but with my family history, I’m leaving it alone. (And I even have a family history of aneurisms (sp?) and high blood pressure, too…agh….)
27-It is. We don’t buy it, but my friend let me have some of hers, once, and it was dee-licious!
24- Yes, they(your tastes, not really your tastes buds, I believe it has to do with the way your brain develops) actually change several times so it’s good to retry things you may not have liked before. Your initial tastes develop around 3-4 I believe(though I could be totally wrong) and they change somewhere between 9-15, then they can change again somewhere between 18-30. And they’re will always be new foods you’ve never tried before.
23- It’s true. One glass of red wine is good for you. It has antioxidants (I think).
26- Apparently that was what this thread used to be called. I think it’s amusing. See post 13 for a little more.
I love sparkling apple cider. I haven’t had the grape or other ones, though. I’ve had wine, and I actually like red a little bit, but I’m not going to drink it when I’m older. I’m not going to drink anything, especially not vodka or beer. Like Shadowkat said, maybe a little champagne at a wedding. And maybe to celebrate other happy occasions some wine. That’s it.
I tried my mom’s cosmo last night. I think I’ll like it when I’m grown up.
My family went to this party (we left at 10:00 because we didn’t want to get hit by drunk drivers on the way home). There was an “oxygen bar” there, which turned out to be air in flavours with names like “relaxation” and “lime cloud.” That was the highlight of my new years.
I think it’s a little bit silly the way people in the US Central time zone and west stay up until midnight to watch a recording of the ball dropping in Time Square. The time at which we begin a new year is a bit arbitrary.
Hello people!
I have nothing to say on this topic, but I wanted to see if I could be the first person to post on January 2, because I’m awake for school but I have five minutes to waste. I’ll wait until the PoPoPo come and drag me away in their white coats… is that it?
Im not sure where to request this and here seemed like a good place so, We NEED A MYTHBUSTERS THREAD!!!!!!! Plus you could use a lot of the myths for bo’s fact page, some of them are really hard to guess. Such as did a gunner fall out of a plane with no parachute from 22000 feet and survive?
the answer is yes.
ineed help. how do you do the cool smiley?
I oppose alchohol. It just seems pointless and stupid to waste your time drinking.
33 – I feel bad for people who have already started school. You have to wake up reeeeeeeealy early. (5:44? maybe it’s just my timezone and it’s supposed to be 6:44 cuz I’d never be able to wake up that early and be funtioning well enough to type.) I mean, it’s an okay place to hang out with your friends, but some of the teachers are strange and/or creepy. Other teachers are nice, but I would still rather like being at home. I won’t be able to get onto MB at school cuz they have this “master computer” that tracks what absolutely EVERYBODY does. Kinda scary. We’re only supposed to go on sites for homework and studying.
I had to go back to school today. Yuck. However, I think the teachers were more bummed about coming back than us kids.
Alchohol smells bad. I’m in no hurry to drink. On Easter, all of my grandpa’s brothers and sisters drink beer. The stench is enough to keep my sister and me in the basement.
A Mythbusters thread would be cool.
Crazy. Im going tomorrow though. I cant stand how vacations are always so short. And beer tastes bad, I only drank it because I told my siter if she would, i would and she did.
BTW, we totally need a thread dedicated to nerdy stuff so I can actually post something people would read.8)
Oi, curious and questioning! Can you explain SCA to me? I sort of understand, and now I’m curious and questioning. xD Do I need to have medieval clothes to go to a meeting and stuff? And is it bad if I just walk in? Also, will everyone be really old? (I’m thirteen, so twenty-five probably qualifies as really old for this circumstance.)
24 – I read somewhere that your tastebuds start to die so that’s why adults like gross things like alcohol and asparagus (hee hee). But I’m not sure if that’s true. Robert? Rosanne? Is it?
33 – I started school today. arrrghhhh. I really, really don’t feel like doing homework right now. But I must! (If I want to keep my 100% average). grr.
i accidently drank some rum once. i thought it was my lemonade. it tasted really, really bad. i spat it all over the place. i’ve smelled beer and it seems kind of unappetizing to me, i can’t see why adults drink it. i’ve of the opinion that if i never drink, then i will never get addicted, never have hangovers, and never waste all my money on alcohol, which seems pretty good to me.
38-Heh. Pater makes beer. You have no idea. He doesn’t make it often, but when he does i flee. Desperately.Trying not to breathe as i do.
I’ve tried wine, but i thought it was mildly disgusting. I hate grape juice, so it makes sense. Never tried anything else i don’t think…oh i think i had champagne once…it was ok…
A lot of my friends and their parents have a pretty easy view on alcohol. Mostly like “go ahead and have a sip if you want, but not a lot”
I like mixing ice and cranberry juice and a little sprite together and drinking it. It tastes goof, you should try it.
42- Related story.
We were at an Italian restaraunt and I ate some spicy pasta. I was really thirsty, so I reached over and grabbed what I thought was water and gulped it down. It was my dad’s scotch! Blech.
35-A post like that more belongs on the random thread, unless I missed mention of smileys somewhere on here, but I’ll answer your question, anyway. You make a cool smiley just like you would any other one. For cool, you go
You can find the codes for all of the smileys on the HG2MB, but just keep in mind that there are no spaces! If you still can’t get it, let me know, and I’ll try to explain it differently.
: cool : , with out any spaces, so it ends up like this:
43- My parents have that view, because I’m almost a teen and I need some independence, but I never take it. When I was smaller I tasted a little, and it was actually OK, but I think it kills your brain cells, which keeps me away from it.
45 ~ Another related story: At my grandfather’s birthday party, my little cousin was thirsty, and she saw her grandfather (my grandfather’s brother) at the drink table, so she got a bottle of vodka and asked him to pour her some. She thought it was water. It’s a good thing she didn’t go ahead and get herself some. xD
47 ~ It does if you drink too much, especially if you’re underage, I think, since your brain and body are still growing and maturing and whatnot.
My parents aren’t too relaxed with alcohol, but they do let me have a sip sometimes. Hence my opinion on beer (ew).
Why are we discussing alchohol?
My story:
I’m allowed to have a sip of wine or beer every once in a while. Beer is kinda gross, but in my opinion, wine as long as its not too sweet is pretty good.
A sad (as in pathetic) story:
At a bat mitzvah party a while ago basically the only drink there was spiked punch that was left unguarded without a sign or anything to let you know that it was spiked. A bunch of kids like 4 years old got into it and got really sick.
49- because the subject popped up and this is the discussion thread :]
hehe.
I’ll probably never drink alchohol, but then again, I can’t predict such.
49- Poor four year olds.
GAPAs, on the original Chameleon thread, there was a bold word at the top that said the current topic. Can you do it on this thread?
We could, but it would mean more work. The current topic is what? Alcohol?
No! Since we just did stuff on the evils of alcohol last month in health and I really don’t want to think about health class any more than necessary to get at least a 95 considering what we’re doing now (*winces at the thought of that*), I will change the topic to the SCA, because Margaret asked.
What she said (post 40):
Oi, curious and questioning! Can you explain SCA to me? I sort of understand, and now I’m curious and questioning. xD Do I need to have medieval clothes to go to a meeting and stuff? And is it bad if I just walk in? Also, will everyone be really old? (I’m thirteen, so twenty-five probably qualifies as really old for this circumstance.)
Do I need to have medieval clothes to go to a meeting and stuff?
I was fairly young (it was what? 3, 4 years ago?)when my parents started doing this, so I can’t remember my first meeting and tell you definitely, but everyone there wears medieval clothes, so you’ll want to. I think that at some places they might have clothes you can borrow if it’s your first time, your results may vary with this method. You’ll want to have medieval clothes when you’re there, though. They can be anything from a suitable Halloween costume (I once saw a Juliet costume, I think it was, purple and green velvet, quite suitable) to the most authentic hand-done-yourself garb with multiple panels and details. I usually wear a dress/long tunic thing or, more often, a linen shirt and green velvet pleated skirt that my mom made for herself that I cut up so that it would fit me. I don’t stick out too much.
And is it bad if I just walk in?
I usually am thinking of other things when my parents are doing the sign in stuff, so I’m again not the best person to ask. I know you can get a membership. I know some events have fees. I know you have to register for some stuff. I know parents/guardians have to sign a waiver thingy if they’re bringing minors. I don’t know the details you need to know to find out, but I’ll ask a parent and report back when it’s not so late.
Also, will everyone be really old?
This one I can give a full, complete answer to. Mostly there are adults. With the main events I go to every year (no idea about others) (I go to dancing fox, around valentine’s day, coming up the first february weekend I think, and there’s usually a fall one, like generic dead viking a few years back or the one I went to last week) the adults bring their children. Usually 7-ish a few years younger than me, one around my age, give or take a year, that I can talk to, and an older teen or three. I’m thirteen too.
I will ask a parent and report back with the stuff I don’t know. I don’t think I’m being specific enough that any thing should be cut except maybe the events I go to, and I think it should stay.
Humph. We’re doing the evils of alcohol right now. In my opinion, health is a waste of time, most of the time. And besides, I can’t spell acohol right half of the time anyway (shows how much I know about it, which is probablly a good thing).
SCA sounds cool!
8- Are you CRAZY? That is TOTALLY illegal. It doesn’t matter WHO you are with. Underage drinking is ILLEGAL and you can go to JAIL.
54- Alcohol.
Anyways, to change the subject, (this is the morphing chameleon.) I want to try out for the school play, but guueeeeessssss what? It’s “HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL!” I thought they where kidding. I thought aliens sucked out their brains! I THOUGHT THEY HAD EATEN A BAD TUNA SANDWICH! But Nooooooooo. It really IS “high school musical!” I’m signing up anyways to get more theatrical experience… But of I don’t get a part, I will NOT be in the chorus. Last year, they locked us up in teeny tiny rooms in the dark. We weren’t allowed to make any noise or have any light, while the “stars” got a LIT room to sit in CHAIRS and TALK. (we had to sit on the cafeteria floor. GROSS! My friend made up a song to the tune “yummy yummy yummy I’ve got love in my tummy…etc. It goes Icky icky icky the-he floors are all sticky and I feel like I’m walkin’ in goo. Ew!)
I’ll just be stage crew if I don’t get a part.
55 – I’d say there are a plenty of crimes worse than drinking alcohol when you’re underage.
I have never had alcohol (I’m 13). My mother sometimes uses a -dash- of red wine in a cooking adventure.
I havn’t had health yet, but there are horror stories from my friends about it.
55- Tech Crew is awesome. Though if you do join and get put on the movable spotlights, please don’t shine them on the pit. The pit might (will) come back and make threatening noises…
What does SCA stand for?
I once had Kahlua. I thought it was my chocolate milk and I drank it and it was REALLY gross. Then my mom came in and asked me what I was thinking to be drinking her alcohal. And I said ‘It looked like my chocoate milk and anyways, you shouldn’t have set it on the counter’ and it was nasty and I was 5.
53 ~ Wow, thanks for the information. I was considering asking my parents about the Dancing Fox event thing, but I’d have to see about getting some clothes, first. The dressing the fox competition sounds like it could be fun. I want to see the fashion show with them.
57 ~ Society for Creative Anachronism. I just learned about this from curious and questioning.
Whoa, boy. Are we talking about the Renaissance or alcohol?
SupremeMuser2000– a similar instance happened to me when I was about four. My parents were having a party and I was thirsty, so I took a big gulp of my father’s wine– I thought it was juice. Everyone was laughing at my and I was MAD.
But not nearly as mad as my brother was when he discovered the glass of “water” he was drinking from was bleach. (My mum had left it on the counter, next to the sink, where we usually have half-drank glasses of water.)
Wine is actually not that bad. I had some over Christmas (and in front of my mucho-conservative grandparents) and, if you ignore the alcohol bit, its pretty good. I’m allowed to have wine once in a while…Its not that terrible, but I don’t particularly fancy it. I do like champange, though.
55– I’d agree with Zallie– underage drinking is incredibly tame compared to a LOT things minors do, whether its illegal just in their age group or for everyone. As far as I’m concerned, its fine for minors to drink…provided they don’t over-do it. There’s nothing wrong with them having a glass of wine with dinner. As long as the amount is controlled by a responsible drinker…The only reason why its illegal is because there’s the chance that the teen would get hooked. But who says at age 21 you lose the ability to become addicted?
The law won’t stop them from drinking at all, like at home or at a friend’s. The law only truly prevents a minor from purchasing alcohol and a minor only gets busted for drinking if its in public– if not then, when they’re drunk in public. Its a personal choice, just like smoking. Again, being 21 doesn’t automatically mean you’re responsible with what you consume. (Or age 18, depending on where you live.)
Something I don’t get is when students get in trouble for wearing attire that “advertises” alcohol consumption. As in, myself. I wore a necklace made out of beer bottle caps. We were studying the dangers of alcohol and that even if you have a SIP you could get DRUNK and DIE in a CAR CRASH due to your INTOXICATION!! (I hate exaggeration in this class. They’re supposed to EDUCATE us, not make us PARANOID.) Anyway, I brought up the fact that in Germany, the drinking age is 16 adn the driving age is 21. I said that that way they could learn to drink responsibly before they drink and drive irresponsibly. She says “Well, then they’re obviously not educated about the dangers of alcohol at such a young age.” Then she took notice to my necklace and said, “I hope I never see you wear that necklace ever again. You are aware its Bells? That is an alcohol establishment.” *I attempt a protest* *I am cut off by my demon teacher* “No– I don’t want to hear it. Its compleatly inappropirate for school.”
Gosh. I’m not ADVERTISING the beverage, I just liked the design and put into jewlery. I’m not forcing the beverage on anyone and my wearing it is not preventing anyone from learning or depriving them of their safety– which is the school’s main priority! People make every little thing the fate of the universe when its to their advantage. I hate that. (I could really add a lot more to this, but its kinda off-topic.)
I HATE HEALTH CLASS. It is a DEMON. (As is my pooshy teacher– just so you know.) WHY did she have to put me in the front corner RIGHT next to the television? WHY?! And with the unit we’re studying…WHY.
We need a separate thread for school. I enjoy discussing it…
61- Sounds bad. V bad.
Health class is evil. If I didn’t leave 15 minutes before the period ends to go to math class, I’d be very sad. As it is, it’s bad enough.
60- We started talking about alcohol with FS’s description of his New Year’s Eve, I attempted to change the topic to the Renaissance with mixed results, and now we’re beginning to complain about health class.
I don’t have health class yet. Whew.
I am all done with my HS health and gym credits. Joy. That class was horrid, though. Gym is worse, however. I was that weird kid who got hit in the head with the dodge-ball EVERY TIME WE PLAYED THAT ZARKING GAME. Every round, actually. No fun at all.
I went to the PA Ren. Faire in Octoberish. It pwned. I think I blogged about it here before…. Yes, I was totally in costume. And could barely breathe/sit/slouch as a result.
I don’t have a problem with reasonable drinking. I find most drunk people amusing. Drinking does not appeal to me; I don’t drink and doubt I will. Smoking is my personal pet peeve. As is the expression, “pet peeve…..”
You have to take health in high school???!!! I’ll have no reason to miss half the class! And when? There’s 8 periods: social studies, english, science, science/gym, lunch, band, italian, and math was what I thought they were. What will I miss? But gym isn’t as bad as health. Usually with gym you can stand in the back out of the way and talk to someone. And you don’t have to pay attention as much in gym. And the subject matter in gym is better.
We took health in sixth and we have to take it again in ninth. It wasn’t all that bad, though. We had a really nice teacher who allowed us to call her at home if we wanted. xD I didn’t get up the nerve to do it until the end of the summer, but it was pretty funny when I did.
Nothing is wrong with alcohol in moderation. As long as you don’t get totally wasted, whatever. Oh yeah, and for kids its bad for you. Not quite sure why. I dont actually like alcohol except in cocktails. But i probably will. For now, sparkling cider is vastly superior to sparkling wine. But margaritas are really good….
I think there shouldnt be a drinking age. Personal choice. But if we are going to have one, 21 is ridiculous. Your brain stops growing at 25. And alcohal is probably better for you than stuff like cocaine (not the drug, the energy drink. I believe it has 3.5 times the caffine that a red bull has, in a smaller can. and its perfectly legal for two year old to drink it.)
Okay… new topic. Has anyone here installed a dual boot linux? Because i’m thinking about it, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
I take health now (8th) its…. whatever. Better than everything else.
(excluding some things, of course.)
Well.. i was in Anchorage once and i saw with native guy who was drunk (native Americans don’t have much resistance to alcohol so they are more likely to get drunk) well… he ran across a highway and he could have died. i thought drunk people were funny until then. i think if you are drunk is a safe happy place its all right but on the streets with no money is NOT NOT NOT a good place to be drunk.
on a lighter note, i know some people who moved to France when they were uh.. 2 and 4 and they saw some 12 year olds drink what they thought was juice and they ended up drinking the “juice†getting drunk and walking into trees.
i was talking to the same people and we were talking about how drink ages in America are a joke, if people want beer underage they will get it. it was funny… he was holding a beer at the time. i think people in Europe are smarter. alcohol consumption is accepted and normal (from what hear, correct me if i am wrong) so as it is not forbidden people are more responsible.
health class is pointless. people who need to be helped in that area will probably not get much out of the class because they are falling asleep with boredom. I suppose if you had a REALLY good teacher it would be good…
they gave us this anti-drink speech and it was stupid. they tried to make it dramatic, it was dorky. They were trying to say if you had a drop of anything fermented it was BAD BAD BAD and you would end up in jail and dead and a alcoholic. i felt like saying “they why are all the citizens of France not DEAD???”

oops.. sorry, i accdentley repented myself!
someone told me that in France a 8-year-old could walk in to a store adn buy wine and everyone would assume he was buyign ti for the familly. I knwe a 12 year-old who TOUCHED a bottle of wine (to put it on the counter on teh store) ands they said “You are allowed to touch that!!” such drastic differences.
my high school has block scheduling, so this semester I have English, Spanish, and Math. (we learn an entire year of these subjects in a semester0. Next semester I have Civics, Biology, and Spanish. Apparantly there was some study saying if you have spanish all year, you’ll learn it better, so we get to learn 2 years of spanish in 1 year, and we don’t have gym this year! squee!
71- you only have 3 classes a semester? or did I get that wrong?
It’s amazing we’ve tried to steer the conversation away from alchohol so many times and it hasn’t worked.
How about caffeine? That’s not great for growing brains, either, and kids are drinking a lot more of it than they used to. I wonder whether anybody thinks about that.
72 – yes, I have 3 academic classes per semester. But I go to an arts school, so I also have my art major (which is writing) for 3 1/2 hours every day. I have 3 80 minute classes, lunch, then 3 1/2 hours of writing.
65 – Mel, where do you get your costumes for the Ren faires? I kind of (okay, really) want a Ren costume, as the one I’ve been wearing is from a thrift shop and I made most of it myself.
53-They make juliet costumes?!?
(continued from post 76, I accidentally posted that too early because my budgie keeps walking on the keys and screwing me up)
53-I have to have one. That’s my first name! Except I’m Quebecois, so I spell it the French way (Juliette, think Gounod)
73-Well, people do say that children are overscheduled in modern times, and if we’re that overstressed, maybe the caffeine is to keep us awake. However, it is believed to stunt growth and mess up brain function. I don’t use it unless I absolutely have to. But I can run on three hours of sleep and usually don’t get more than four.
73 and 77- I don’t drink caffeine very often at all, I only have it on weekends and at parties or sleepovers, usually if I drink a pop, I’ll have sprite or sierra mist (both non-caffeine sodas) or 7 up or something… Also non-caffeine. I get about nine to ten hours of sleep each night.
!
I don’t really like soda and don’t drink other caffinated things much. I get around 7-8 hours of sleep on a weekday and 10 ish on a weekend night.
DISCO PARTY!!!!!!!
mow the lawn, mow mow the lawn!
HAPPY 2007 THOUGH MODERATELY LATE!
this year is supposed to be the hottest year on record.
i hope that wasn’t already said!
Umm… I don’t drink.
I like COFFEE though.
it makes me really hyperful and other people don’t like that but i think it’s sssssssso fun!
I like caffiene. I think I get a teensy bit hyper when I have it so I have only one soda every other day or something and my parents always make sure that it’s diet. grrrrrr… Ah well. hehe…
I don’t drink. At all. Whatsoever.
I kinda like coffee. It’s okay. It’s not my favorite though. And it makes me kind of hyper. Due to the whole caffiene thing. Coffee has caffiene right?
coffee tastes good
Yay, someone’s here besides me!!!! *hyperness takes over*
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
Maybe I should ease up on sugar.
I’m here! But I have to leave for a “hockey’ game in a few minutes. *grumbles*
74- not fair not fair! I go to an arts school and they don’t have any writing major so I’m stuck in IB and take 8 classes over 2 days. *grumbles*
86- that stinks. I don’t go to an arts school at all so… *pouts*
86 – but we have a 9 hour school day.
73 +77- Does it really stunt growth? I occasionally drink coffee because I love it so, but maybe I should switch to decaf. Whenever i go to starbucks though, I usually just get a frappechino.
85- ahhhh I love hockey!!!!! Except I can’t join a team ;__; I don’t think there are any here.
82-Yes, coffee has caffeine.
85-Newsflash on hockey, because you brought it up. *IT’S ONLY INSANE ENGLISH CANADIANS THAT LIKE HOCKEY IN CANADA* The rest of us couldn’t care less.
I rarely drink caffein, but when I do, I don’t feel any more energetic. Maybe caffein works on a placebo effect.
I don’t really notice any effects of caffiene when i drink coke or whatever. I really hate coffee, so i don’t drink it at all. It seems idiotic and pointless to start depending on caffiene to wake up and/or stay awake. Then you’ll have difficulty waking up even when you got sufficient sleep. But hey, people have been doing idiotic and pointless things since the dawn of time. Why stop now?
Jugglebug: umm…?
kricket: Coffee has caffiene. It doesn’t have as much as red bull or something like that, but unlike most caffienated (sp?) drinks, it has caffiene naturally and there seems to be some loss of flavor or other appealing aspects when the caffiene is removed.
Coffee varies a lot, but it usually has more caffeine than Red Bull does. I’ve found a chart that gives the caffeine content of various drinks, including root beer, at http://wilstar.com/caffeine.htm. (Ignore the stupid “click me!” ad at the top of the page.)
Mmm, coffee. My friend made me try some, and after I got past my initial reaction (this is really weird), I liked it. Only iced coffee, though. More sugar.
I don’t really like soda. I used to like Mountain Dew, until I nearly got sick from it. Not so enthusiastic anymore.
I have about a half cup of tea in the morning before school but I think this is justified because I have to wake up at 6 am for school and if there isn’t school I’ll sleep until noon or one pm, so I need caffeine. And it’s not that much. I could stop if I wanted to. If you’re addicted to caffeine, it’s bad. And if you have too much, it can hurt children and mess up how they grow or something. At 6:20 when I’m actually having caffeine, I don’t care.
I would say the current topic is caffeine/the renaissance/school/alcohol, not Alcohol. Maybe the topic(s) is(are) too quickly changing to keep a word at the top of the thread.
hahahaaa!! unny story to tell..
My aunt is sooo addiced to coffee that she will puke up anything she eats and will feel sick she she does not go without her coffee!!!!!
factoid here: pure caffene can kill you is concentrated ammounts. My aunt also told me that!!
for anybody who cares; chai Tea la-ta (spelling???
) are fantastic substatutes to coffee drinks in cafes!!
I’ve tried tea a few times (when I come home from school and start to fall asleep), but it never wakes me up or makes me feel energetic or anything – it just makes my stomach upset.. :-/
Actually, I think I get hyper because I’m bored. And possibly from sugar. Maybe from caffeine… Mostly because of the first two reasons in this post. Ah well.
SQUEE!!!!!!!!!!!
I never, ever have caffeinated drinks. I don’t think I ever have. The only caffeine I get is from chocolate (squee!) and other foods that have caffeine, but I don’t have coffee, etc.
I drink coffee in the morning, depending on if I have enough time. And I do like iced coffee in the summer, also. I dunno, though, caffiene doesn’t really affect me so much. It should, because I’m small, and haven’t really built up a resistance to it, but I don’t feel super energized after I drink some. Maybe a little less tired, but nothing remarkable. Mostly, I just like the way it tastes. Tea too.
93 – And on that note, why can you legally buy your own cigarettes at 18, but can’t drink until you’re 21? Even if both substances were taken in moderation, I think most doctors would agree that cigarettes are much more dangerous/addictive. Why is alcohol so criminalized in the US? If the drinking age were lowered, it’d give older teens a chance to learn to drink responsibly and legally before heading off to college and living on their own where those skills will definitely come in handy.
Caffeine? Yeah. Coca-cola like once every month, Sprite and Sierra Mist a lot. Decaf frappucinos every once in a while. And of course, CHOKLIT.
90- But I don’t live in Canada…hmm…not english canadian either.
The insane part I’ve got though. Eh heh.
94- My favorite kind of coffee is iced too. Delicious.
96- Latte. I think.
99- Chocolate has caffiene? o_O Really? :0 wowee.
90/77-Do you live near the NY border? If so, possible kokoconvention… If not, oh well.
I somtimes drink some of my parent’s coffee, but I don’t really do that very often. I like regular/herbal tea, though. And hot chocolate. I almost never drink soda, though.
103 – I live in PA. Where do you live? I’m guessing NY.
Choklit has caffiene? hehe… I should probably ease up on choklit then… It has sugar and caffiene! SQUEEEE!!!! (that’s my favorite word now)
best alchoholic beverage in the world: brandy alexander.
The beer I had was a bit too bitter at the bginning , but a few gulps later it tasted fine. And alcohol in most of switzerland is percieved as a means to loosen up and have fun. I saw some totally serious people other wise do the most ridicolous things cuz they were totally drunk. The next day you throw up a bit, have a hangover and that’s that.
55: Dude. Unlike americans, we know how to take it in moderation. No european would be shocked that underage kids are drinking. And it’s fine. We get upset if someone’s 15 and doing heroin, but that’s something else.
I like coffee, I like chocolate, I like caffienated drinks, but chocolate is the only thing I have regularly. I’m not allowed to have alot of caffeine. It’s supposed to stunt your growth, and I believe that my parents think that if I have too much I will explode or somethi *****”BOOM”*****
Why is this thread not at the top of the page? It should be. It’s special that way. I don’t get hyper from sugar, but if I’m excited or bored I’ll sometimes act hyper.
55-hey, we’re doing high skool musical too! for the middle skool anyway. difference is, i like or at least tolerate it. may help the small ones with costumes, i’m not sure. jacob might too which would make the first guy in my experience to be on costumes. i’d do the whole crew thing for them but the middle skoolers have to have their fun moving stuff around. i got that in boys next door.
Anyway, coffee is mildly disgusting but i lurves choklit. I have friends who drink a LOT of coffee and it’s kind of scary how they can’t seem to focus as well without it, but that’s only the extreme coffee drinkers. Most are fine.
I don’t like pop, so my caffeine is limited to choklit.
oh and 107-Dude. (
You called?) Really. There you go with the americans thing again. Sure, some americans drink way too much. I’m sure some swiss kids drink more than is good for them too. Stop generalizing.
Martini=yummish. I tried my mom’s green martini once and it was pretty good.
I can’t have choklit or caffeine anytime after 5 or else I stay up all night. It’s a red-haired thing.
There is choklit in my house. Dove choklit. The problem is that it is totaly awesome and I am limited to two pieces a day. -munch munch munch-
I think that coffee smells horrible. Neither of my parents drink it, therefore I don’t. My grandfather drinks coffee so we have some expired-in-a-yesteryear ancient ground coffee for when my grandparents stay overnight.
I had a friend who was addicted to coffee. She couldn’t function without it. It was very scary…
why does everyone (that i know) but me like coffee? it’s gross!
My parents have coffee every morning and it does nothing to them. coffee smells good but it is too hot for me.
also i once got to stick my pinkie into and taste a chocolate martini it was sooooooo good. Also beer smells bad.
104-Yeah, NY. Not that close to PA, though. But still…
I love chocolate. Especially Cadburys.
Caffeineisreelyreelyreelygood!!
Idontcarewhatpeoplesayaboutitdehydratingyou!!
*Drinks another latte*
W00t!!
I don’t really like coffee. It’s okay… but…
My sister luvs coffee! Or so she says… *suspicious look* And she’s only ten years old. TEN!!!
I don’t like coffee. I think it’s too bitter… even with lots of sugar in it. I do like iced lattes, or as starbucks calls them, frappuccinos.
I love coffee as long as it’s got lots of milk and sugar. Yummm.
119- Same here. I lurv the coffee.
I don’t really like Coffee. I’ve never really had it, though. I like peppermint hot chocolate, though!
caffieneisthebomb! Sowhatifitmakesmetalkreallyreallyreallyfastandbounceoffthewall? Istilllurrrrrrrvvvvvvvsitverymuch! w00t! w00tyt00tt00t!

coffee=lusciiious
oh yes. coffee is the key to the future, with out it we would all die.
other things we would die without:
Gilmore Girls
Pizza
sugar
Muse
I like mocha frapps….
123- heckyes Gilmore Girls.
Had a marathon with my cousin as we ate junk food. Glorious day.
Starbucks is my forever love.
123- And without it, my parents would look like zombies.
My parets ARE zombies.
mmmmmmmmmmmmm….coffeeeeee.
Of course, Starbucks is a fallback, for me. I prefer the little coffee shop up the street run by an old hippie guy with long grey hair and a beard, who wears tye-dyed t-shirts and ends every other sentence with “peace out” and makes the best vegan pastries ever. It rocks.
128- Starbucks is nasty…… That old hippie guy sounds like me…. except without grey hair and a beard…. I hope….. *runs to bathroom* *searches her face over for hairs* Ah.. none found. I also don’t own a coffee shop.
117 – Not sure what happened to my last attempt at posting here, but what I posted was that my little borther’s like that too, and he’s only nine. I think coffee’s okay, but he’s obsessed with it. Just finished my homework cuz we got a surprisigly small amount. My backpack only weighed twenty pounds instead of the usual twentyfive or thirty.
OHH PSHH. Who needs caffeine when you have sugary, Japanese boy band pop? ♪♪♪
(113) You’re not alone in that! Coffee smells nice but it’s sick.
SRSLY you guys, coffee is bad for you if you have it a lot. So don’t. You can develop a physical or mental dependency on it, just like alcohol and tobacco. I’m not saying having it will automatically do that, but every day is not a good idea, especially more than one cup. </health teacher suddenly what>
125!!!!
oh my gooodnesss!
i thought that i would be ridiculed! you saver of ridiculage!
THANK YOU!
which is your favorite season? i’ve only seen 3,6, and as much as 7 as has been broadcasted. so sad.
131-PFFTT Japanese boy band pop? How about Taiwan boy band pop? Just kidding. Even though they do rock. Have you heard of NewS?
132- Mmm I don’t really have a favorite season. I love them all. Right now, abc is broadcasting the third, so soon, you can watch the 4th+5th. My library only has the 1,2,3 seasons on dvd. SUCKS. I want all the seasons.
110 – No, I’m with FS. I think dangerous drinking is much more rampant in America than in most European countries. Don’t really have any facts to back this up with, but alcohol consumption seems to be generally accepted in European countries (even for teens), while in America alchol is totally criminalized (as seen with the zero-tolerance policy for drivers under 21 and the extremely high drinking age).
Yay! The topic is now GIlmore GIrls. Haha. Anyone else here like that show?
Sometimes It’s hard to keep up with their intellectual lingo.
But I love this part:
Rory-Oh, but the pamphlets will sit there forever!
Lorelei-No the won’t, they’re biodegradable.
133- buy them! though they’re rather expensive. My mother got season two for a birthday present and season three for christmas. I think she’s about two disks ahead of me now though. I’ve only seen seasons one and two and a couple of season three. My mother, brother and I have been watching them. Please don’t reveal any spoilers! I’ve been watching them in order…
By the way, before reading what you had wrote my “caffeine” to “gilmore girls’ connection was definately Lorelai. Who else would be the caffeine connection?
(133) OH SNAP I WAS TALKING ABOUT NEWS. ASDFGHJKL’;;;; Cherish has an ammmaaaazing video. Oh my poor little brain.
And you point me in the way of some Taiwanese pop. It sounds delicious entertaining. 8DDDD The only non-Japanese beautiful boy band pop I know about is Super Junior and DBSK, I think it’s called. D: I am deprived.
When is Gilmore Girls on/what channel? I hear about it from one of my friends but I don’t know anything about it.
Axa- FO SHIZZLE I love cherish. One of the guys in NewS starred in One litre of tears. Have you heard of that show?
The Taiwan boy band I listen to is fahrenheit. I lurve them. Been watching all these mv’s on youtube during my snow days. I’m such a lazy bum XD
Glimore girls is on the CW. Channel 11 every tuesday at 8:00. And right now, they’re replaying seasons on abc family at 5:00 or 11:00 am I do believe.
e~a- I would totally buy them but I’m saving for an iPod nano. Don’t worry, I won’t post spoilers. I was watching season three when I went on wikipedia and read all those spoilers. Don’t go on wikipedia!!!!!
Re: Gilmore Girls:
1. Luke looks really weird whenever he’s not wearing his baseball cap.
2. I wish Suki were my personal chef.
3. There’s one character on the show (who appears in season 6) who DEFINITELY reads Muse. Muse is never shown or mentioned but based on the character’s personality I know this to be true.
I haven’t seen any shows for a long time. My parents cancelled cable and now the only things on are church shows which get boring after a short period of time.
I give up, will not read through 140 posts just to post one thing, I think we should talk about something interesting now! If you already were then as you were
(138) x_x Oh man I do keep hearing about that, as well as Nobuta wo Produce which has…Kame from KAT-TUN I believe. I need to watch ALL these beautiful dramas. DDD: -scours YouTube-
(140) Peh, TV isn’t that good anyway. The intarnetz are more entertaining. :O
I feel bad I can’t add to the conversation of Gilmore Girls! I’ll watch it when I’m not attached at the brain stem to my laptop. Which isn’t going to be anytime soon.
The “Visit these threads” thread is gone, so I’ll post this here.
People should go to the Monty Python thread, because I was the last person to post there, and I’ve been talking to myself there since October.
139-
1) Yes I totally agree. It’s like he always has hat hair.
2) Suki’s spelled Sookie. Yeah, I wish I could have her as my personal chef too, seeing as how my cooking skills aren’t too good. Maybe I will starve once I move out of my house o_O
season six…season six…OH I think I know! But I shall not post because it’s a spoiler.
142- Oh yeah! i watched part of Nobuta wo Produce. Twas pretty good. Gokusen was ok..hmm what other dramas have i watched… Oh yeah! Have you seen Hana yori Dango? It’s really good.
I read part of Hana Yori Dango once…isn’t the drama randomly called Meteor Garden or something? o_o Also, I took your advice and listened to fahrenheit and GISOHIRWRBH love. -dies-
-nudges everyone toward a new topic-
Eh? How about food? Everyone likes food… Or maybe the weather. We’ve been getting WEIRD stuff in California. -shivers- Not supposed to be this cold okay. Or maybe your favorite thing to do! Or movies. Foreign languages? Singing? SINGING IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES? Something!
Singing in foreign languages!! YES! I’ll start:
(foreign in this post is defined as anything not English, as I live in the US)
Swedish: Basshunter.
[Link deleted
— Rosanne]
Has really good songs, and two movies, with subtitles in English, among other things. Boten Anna (Anna the Bot or something like that) is about a chat bot named Anna. and Vi Sitter Ventrilo och Spelar Dota (we’re sitting here on Ventrilo [sound system] and playing some DotA [warcraft III online map thing] are my favorites and are the ones with the movies
German: the funny name award goes to: Die Toten Hosen (the dead pants) with an odd song called Hier Kommt Alex (here comes Alex) based on the book/movie A Clockwork Orange
good song award: Unschlagbar (Unbeatable) by Konigwerq (Konigwerk is ‘A work by the king’, the “q” is to look qool with.)
An almost unknown band
really old but good song award: 99 Luftballons (99 balloons, there’s a really bad english version called 99 red balloons) by Nena, really old, but still good
Lyrics in english can usually be found through Googling
Anyway, here we go
145 – Singing in foriegn languages = Falco. Most of the songs are in German, but parts are in English/American. (I don’t really consider them to be the same the same language cuz most the words we use are slang or “uh, er, oh, um etc…..” Or at least around here.)
I love singing in foreign languages. My choir sings lots of stuff in Latin (Mozart’s Coronation Mass, for example). It’s fun!
I really love old Gilmore Girls seasons, especially the first two, but I think it’s really gone downhill. They have a new writer this year, who, frankly, sucks, at least compared with the old one.
why?
Ah, I love Gilmore Girls. But I agree — I liked it better before Rory threw all her morals out the window. Haven’t watched it recently.
Alex Ubago: Spanish singer. muy bien!
145- The taiwanese version is called meteor garden and the japanese one is called Hana yori dango. I got it on ebay.
fwahaha.
Cha fahrenheit is uber cool. Are you chinese? Because if you didn’t understand it, do they still sound awesome..? Ah whatever. Fahrenheit rocks no matter what.
Aaron=love
Singing in a foreign language?
超喜æ¡ä½ ä¸èƒ½åˆ†
Something something…
Sorry for double post but :
149- Yeah I know! Season seven isn’t so great.
(146) Ah, that last song you mentioned, I really like it.
(148) Oooh Latin! I love Latin!
(152) Ha, no I’m actually half Japanese. I have no problem whatsoever not knowing what the singer is saying, I never really have. I feel lucky for it! Most of what I listen to is Japanese, and I understand parts of it, but even so, I can still hear the emotion in the singer’s voice, and music is the universal language, right?
And besides that, I’ve always liked how Chinese sounds… I don’t know what dialect they’re singing in -fails- but all the same it’s very lyrical, and very smooth.
148 – Mine too!!!! Some of my favorites are Dona Nobis and Ubi Caritas.
147- lol, I have one song by Falco – “Rock me Amadeus” and it’s kind of scary..
154- hmm, I wonder how many people on here are half Japanese.. or hapa in general.. I’m half Japanese, and I think RRF/Penty is half Chinese or something..
Singing in foreign languages==kyo (french band). OMG. They are amazing. despite being slightly emo.
Threads everyone must visit that I am posting everywhere:
The Chronicles of Museica, Part The Third
“Mostly Harmless,” v.2006.2
Monty Python
156 – One half Irish, One quarter Polish, One quarter German, 100% Amreican!
156 – Try Der Kommissar if you can find it somewhere. I just listened to the one you did and, yeah, it was pretty scary. Another funny sung in a different language (well, the lip synching is) is Numa Numa (which is not actually the name, but oh well). Search Numa Numa lip synching on Yahoo and you should come up with it. My friend showed me it and it was really funny because the synching is so exaggerated.
154- Coolness! I’m full chinese, but people mistake me as Japanese. I only know a few words though (with my sister’s handy dandy Japanese Guide! And of course from watching lots of japanese dramas on youtube :])
Sorry for asking so many questions *_* eheh, but what do you do after you download firefox..?
159- I love Numa numa
(156) Haaapaaaaa omg I didn’t know anyone else knew that word afjhaegkjadg I bought Kip Fulbeck’s Book an it’s amazing. -dies- And GAH I still need to listen to them T_T
(160) Yay! xD And after you download Firefox, you go to the Firefox main homepage, and on the top navigation, click on Add Ons. Search for Video Downloader, and click on the one made by Javi Moya. And I think that one is the right one. ^^;;
I’m taking German as a language right now, and our teacher lets us listen to German songs (in German of course)!!! The class’s favorite is Anton Aus Tirol!!! It’s practically German Techno!!!
Lucky!! My spanish teacher made us listen to the spanish ABC’s!
By the way, I’m new here.
arigato gozaimasu axa! ;D
è¬è¬ä½ !
I thought arigato meant goodbye, so I asked my sister for help.
I’m so stupid ;__; hehe.
Hey doggylover!
Que pasa mi amiga (or amigo)?
(162) :O Is German hard? Because it seems hard. To me, though. Ehehe…
(164) xD Yay! The only thing I know in Chinese is “thank you” and I think I say it wrong anyway. -_- Ehh.
164- Hola chica! Es Muy bueno?Mi es muy estupido! Mi es muy bonita, chestiso,y caliente!
Okay, now I’m just being stupid.
151- I once had a friend who was in one of the Gilmore Girls episodes, I think.
165: Axa, I’m trying to learn German and find it hard. It might not be so hard if my brain were a bit younger. And it’s apparently a cinch for people who grew up surrounded by German speakers.
In addition to various other language-learning tactics, I’m reading a kids’ book, Die kleine Hexe (The little witch), and I’m trying to learn a new word from the book each day. Yesterday’s word was “gähnen,” which sounds like “gainin’ ” (as in “we’re gainin’ “) and means “to yawn.” It’s sticking in my mind because I picture someone saying “We’re gainin’ ” and then yawning really big. The contradiction between the words and the action helps me remember the meaning.
I also tried to learn Chinese for a while. That was even harder for me because while German and English words have lots of similarities, Chinese and English words don’t.
Add to that the difficulty of looking up a Chinese word in a dictionary. Since Chinese written language uses characters instead of an alphabet, a dictionary can’t be organized alphabetically. The one I used was organized based on the number of strokes used to draw the character. And unfortunately, that’s not always obvious.
Sometimes a zigzag that looks like two lines, one going in one direction and then a second one going in another direction, counts as just one stroke because it’s created all in one movement without lifting the pen from the paper.
Once you learn how you’re supposed to create the various strokes it gets easier. Then you feel like a super genius when you successfully look up a word.
Suggessted Topic: The Blog is coming close to 80,000 comments, should we have a 100,000th post thread when the time comes?
That’s interesting. Where does it list the number of comments? (This is number 67,197, by the way.)
Habla Espanol, y voy a Puerto Vallerta en marzo. Estoy muy emocionado! Hay otros MBers quiene hablan Espanol?
171- Hablo español tambien. Me encanta culturas hispanohablantes. He hablado español desde el kinder. Tambien hablo frances pero prefiero español.
On the topic of foreign music, my friend often gives me mix CDs with various German songs on them (Nena, Wir Sind Helden) I have much Spanish music as well (Juanes, a few Maná songs, various other artists.) I go to Spanish camp quite a bit and I went to a Spanish Immersion school for elementary school. I speak French too. (I don’t speak German, by the way)
172 – Tiene una profesora buena, no? Mi profesora de espanol es muy simpatica. Sus estudiantes podemos comer mucha comida de mexico en clase. El pan de muertos es muy buena.
Necesito dormir ahora. Estoy cansado. Tambien necesito hacer mi tarea, pero no quiero hacerlo. Me gusta hablar en espanol.
I like Fernando Ortega songs, even though they aren’t en espanol. He’s still a really good Hispanic siger.
170-Maybe I’m wrong then. But when I put my cusor over a username on “recent comments” it sa`ys something like that at the bottom of the page.
170, 174: I think I see what you mean, DY. When I put the cursor over the name of the commenter in the “recent comments” queue, a message appears at the bottom of my Firefox page. According to that, DY’s last message was #78492.
But based on Robert’s count, that’s not accurate. Hmmm.
Robert, how do you explain this?
Don’t know if this helps, but when I clicked Roseanne gapa’s comment to get here (in IE), the address was https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=641#comment-78496 . Wouldn’t that mean her comment is number 78496?
It probably doesn’t help.
I really must depart for sleep now.
Doesn’t look like anyone’s up yet. I have IE, FF, and Safari.
I have Safari.
Spanish is one of my majors at school.
Sock monkey, why did you go to an immersion school? Are your parents from Mexico or South America? That’s really cool. Estoy Celosa (I’m jealous).
This semester I am taking a service learning class in which I get to study Hispanic communities in the US, and then do volunteer work with them. It should be really interesting to learn about what it’s like be Spanish Speaking in the US, and I’ll get some really great hands on practice speaking. I’m really excited.
179 – No sabo, y no conozco unas palabras usa. No tiene padres hispanicas, pero hago un clase en escuela.
179- Eh? No comprende.
Me gusta la clase de espanol, pero no aprendo mucho. Es aburrido a veces. No hablo mucho espanol. Mi espanol es horrible.
xD
182- Si. Muy, muy, muy, mal! Estupido cabeza de vaca*!
*Not you, I just felt like saying ‘stupid heaad of the cow’
Parlate italiano o inglese, per favore.
This with my 1 middle school year and my half an unproductive other middle school year of the language, and now FS will come here and say something fluent and I’ll have to resort to babelfish, but oh well. What happened to my suggestion of taking the Spanish to Coy Woodnesse?
183 ~ Well, I am una vaca estupida when it comes to Spanish. And I love cows, so it’s all good. xD ♥ Actually, I’m really good as far as my class goes, so that shows you how slow my class is.
Whatawhatawhata! Did you say that we had to speak english or italian? Sorry, but I only speak english and spanish. We have to count to 100 for spanish.
164- Amiga! Nothin’s up. Sorry I haven’t been on for a while. We had 2 snowdays in a row. It rocked!!!
187- Another thing, like Wicked, that I have to cry about when it’s on MB. We’re possibly having the first measurable snowfall now, but it may still not be a measurable amount.
188 ~ Same here. Everyone’s like “Yay, snowday tomorrow!” I’m being, as Brian would say, “pestimistic” about this. I’d check Accuweather for the exact forecast, but it has the habit of making Firefox close, so I’ll do it later. Anyway, a two-hour delay would be really nice.
I’m taking Spanish next year and probably the following four years. I don’t actually want to learn a language — if I did, I’d take French — but the teacher at my school is AWESOME!! My brother had her. She pretty much rocks. My friend is taking French cos “everyone takes Spanish” and there’s a reason for that– you don’t really have to work and the teacher is the most immature person on the planet!
I actually really want to learn Latin, Italin, Greek, Hebrew, Esperanto and Ble. But sadly, none of those are offered at my school.
190 ~ I really wanted to learn Italian, but the choices were Spanish, French, and German. Sadly, this is my second year of Spanish and I still haven’t learned like..anything. If I chose based on the teachers, though, I would’ve picked French easily, because the eighth grade French teacher is awesome.
189- It would pwn. I’d actually get something approximating 8 hours of sleep for once, only my parents don’t do me the favor of checking the weather before I wake up because I wake up 15-20 minutes before them.
Who here knows that two of the articles from the NYS ELA test came from 2002 issues of Highlights? I had to repress the thought during the test to keep from filling my essay with stuff on the evil of highlights, destroyer to creativity and arch-nemesis of my lovely Muse. I suddenly have an urge to go to the Dissing Mr. Joe thread.
185- If you want I can correct your grammar as long as you don’t post too much. there are mistakes but I didn’t want to be an annoying grammar corrector.
184- why? I want to speak spanish. It’s fun and I don’t speak Italian and english is boring as I speak it a lot. Not that I don’t love the english language, I just enjoy speaking spanish.
179- wow, didn’t see your post somehow before. And no, my parents are from opposite coasts of the united states. Neither is Hispanic. I know quite a lot of people with one hispanic parent. I just went to a spanish immersion school because it’s there and it’s awesome and you speak spanish! Immersion schools are quite awesome. I know I know the word for nickname…. mas whimsical. Oh! encontre una palabra muy interesante el otro dia. era refulgente que significa brillante. como un objeto brillante o una persona con personalidad que brilla o es refulgente. Me gusta esa palabra. Encontre en el sit web (no se como deletrearlo) de Isabel Allende. tal vez puedes llamarme MHdC o algo. o e~a, muchos llamanme eso.
192 ~ I didn’t know that. Which two?
Can you believe they wanted us to compare a car that runs on air and a washing machine/dryer? I was like “Are you freaking serious?” xD
193 ~ Please do. I know my grammar sucks, and my Spanish class isn’t helping much, so that would be really great!
Nickname= apodo o sobrenombre
That’s really cool that you had that great immersion experience. I know what you mean about grammar being part intuition and part study. One of the things that surprised me when I started studying foreign languages was that even people who spoke Spanish in their homes still took classes to improve their grammar and spelling. It’s just like English. Native speakers of any language have to study written grammar to master it. It doesn’t come entirely naturally. So you’re no worse off than the college students I know who speak Spanish all the time at home, but are still taking Spanish classes with me to learn the fine points of grammar.
192-YESS!!!! I noticed that too! And during the test I was thinking about how I was going to complain no MB about it!!! And the first story was poorly written, I thought. It was one of the ones from highlights, wasn’t it?
Last year, I was running out of time, and came to the last story. And It turned out that it was an exerpt from a book I read a lloooonnng time ago! So I skimmed over it, and answered the questions just in time!!!!
194-8th grade? What booklet did you do???
(196),
Parts of my Muse stories turn up on reading tests from time to time. It’s always nice to hear that they’re still in circulation.
Hablo un poco español (he aprendido por tres años en la escuela), pero no hablo muy bien… Me gustarÃa hablarlo mas..
I’m also taking Latin in school, and left my eraser there today (we had a test, and I spent the entire period trying to figure out what case I should use for some of the grammar sections.. And I figured out that I missed three, so with the +1 bonus point I can only get a 98.. meh).. such is my life.
So, this week, it actually got below freezing for the first time in ages, and it was raining a bit, so they canceled school Tuesday (we already had Monday off for MLK) and then started two hours late Wednesday and Thursday (Thursday I didn’t realize that school was late starting so I showed up at the normal time and no one was there. It was creepy. And so then I went home), even though there was hardly any ice by Thursday.. ah, the joys of living in the south where no one knows what to do when it gets below about 60..
I’m going to have to take intro to latin next year instead of Spanish. Urggg.
On a happier note: I’m going to have a sixth sibling! It’s a boy! Yaysies!
Which stories were onthe ELAs?
I have carefully edited the parts of my life that included highlights to not include highlights so I have no idea which ones they were.
I have an interest in launguages. I am taking spanish (Hola. Mi no esta!). I would have taken German but my parents wanted me to take a funtional launguage. The classes are smaller and all the cool people take German. I am teaching myself esperanto (Saluton. Mi estas komencanto.) Then I’m going to tackle some random dialect of Arabic. Funness!
Adios mis amigos!
The MB is slow and giving me ‘can’t find the server. please try again’ messages. Be warned and sorry for the randomness. Perdoneme!
191- cha, us too. For highschool (me next year) I think there’s only French, Spanish, Japanese, sign language..I think German too. Soon probably Chinese AP classes.
187- Okeydoke mi amiga. I only know simple words my cousin taught me though…
Which reminds me.
Today in LASS (why does it remind me of that?) The boys continued their “brotherhood” that does not allow them to talk to girls nor it seems, see them. So for the whole 2 hours, I sit there and hear this:
“Hey Bob(not real name), why are you sitting alone?”
“Yeah, It must be lonely.”
While Bob is sitting at a table with three girls.
Then the girls begin to get vicious.
“Ow! I feel some pretty bad ‘spirits’ around this area.”
“Ouch the wind just punched me.”
“That’s weird, the door is opening by itself!”
“Do you hear anything? Man, that’s some pretty stong wind.”
“Whoa! A levitating book!”
AGHHHH. They were being idiots. I just wanted to go up to them and threaten to spit into their faces. Try and pretend I’m not there then :p Grrrness.
202- Reminds me of some of my 4th grade lunches (says the current 8th grader). Erin and I shouting at Taeten and Frank across the table, “I don’t hear anything!” Such joy, but in late middle school, kind of immature. Not that I wouldn’t do it, given half a chance. Only I usually have problems getting the boys I know who are friends to pay attention to me. I want to talk to them, but if they started ignoring me, I’d be pleading with them and threatening them to get them to talk to me, not reciprocating.
I forget which stories were from highlights, but they were both Book 1, and the issues they were from were Highlights 2002 February and March.
¡Yo tengo un cerde grande in mis pantalones!
in high school, i’m gonna take latin and spanish.
Veni vidi vici!
Pwt pwns
OMG!!! Our governor is thinking about making us have to do four years of foreign language and two years on an AP class (like high potential class) before we can go to college. Only a little longer until high school! w000t!!!
-panics- I have three Japanese finals next week OOHMYGAJFADKJBGASB. -practices-

AUGH I don’t know if the verbs are in the right tense…cry.
196 ~ In that particular post, I was referring to the third book.
199 ~ Really? That’s so exciting! (I have one younger sister.)
I really feel like I had something else to say, but I’m pretty much dead today.
I will take spanish, thouh I wish I could take japanese. )-:
85, 90- HEY!! I PLAY HOCKEY!!! I care! But no one else eber does, so what the heck. At least I’m caught up on this thread now.
I am going to take GERMAN!!!!!!!!! I am German if you guys didn’t know that. I will write the words I know in German as well as I can on the English keyboard.
Duech (German)
Americana (American)
Vasamalona (Watermelon)
Du (You)
Bist (Are)
Blauberon (Blueberry)
Hounde (Dog.)
Katze (Cat)
More… But I don’t remember them…
I took Japanese for 8 years – from Kindergarten to 7th grade. But I didn’t even learn how to put a sentence together. Basically, the Japanese program at my school was learning the culture of Japanese, not the language. But I did learn all 3 alphabets!
And we onlly had if for 15 minutes a day, so….
211: Uh… no.
Deutch (german), Amerikanisch (american), Wassermelon (watermelon), Blaubeer (blueberry), Hund (dog), Katze (cat). I’m swiss german, i should know.
I wanna learn finnish! Onko sinulla olut? Totta kai! Anteksi, ei!
213- there was a finnish (well, actually estonian, but he lived in finland) guy at the summer camp that I went to last summer, and so I can now say: “I love you”, “hi”, “goodbye” and “s***” in Finnish. Apparently the year before he taught everyone how to say “would you like to f***”. Yeah. Interesting. And I thought you were swiss italian?
214: I live in the italian part of switzerland, but my dad is from lucerne. and Finnish is extremely hard because it has no reference points to latin or germanic languages.
btw, translation to what I said before: Do you have a beer? Of course! Sorry, no!
215- yeah, finnish, estonian, and hungarian are uralic languages, unlike other european languages, which are indo-european. They sound cool, though.
215- My dad’s going to switzerland in March.
210 ~ I love hockey, but I can’t play to save my life. (For one, I can’t really ice skate.)
214 ~ Yeah, I learn lots of that stuff from the internet. xD
218- I love hockey too! Ice skating is pretty fun once you get the hang of it. Its just like rollar blading (but easier, or so I think). Hey, I think today is the ice skating thing at spokane…
219- I figure skate- I just passed both the freestyle 1 and the ice dance 1 tests. It’s pretty fun once you get past the “fear of falling” part. I haven’t rollerbladed, though, so I can’t really compare.
Dana (179),
You’re probably envidiosa rather than celosa. My Spanish is a bit rusty, but I’m pretty sure the language makes a sharper distinction between jealousy (suspicious possessiveness in a romantic relationship) and envy than most English-speakers do nowadays.
206-required AP classes? that would suck. AP classes are kewler when only kewl people who want to take them take them. Kewlness. Yep.
Ice skating’s fun, though i suck at it. I’m better at rollerblades, but i don’t have any. too small.
202-that’s a lot…we only have latin, spanish, and french. i think. yah, that’s it. my friends have german, but they don’t have latin (from my old skool, i mean)
Languages i’m forced to take are English, German (or French) and Spanish, although this last was an optional. However, I’m am subject to Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Economy (the latter being the only I enjoy) all in the same year, and for the next for years of liceum. Argh.
you take three languages? joyness! i can barely hold on to latin, especially with band and all. scheduling is muurrrrrder. As in i. murdering the schedulers. or something.
Although I will definitely purchase a book on how to learn finnish in the near future. Our school offers Swedish courses in the third year, but that’s not what I want. Either Finnish or Norwegian.
latin is awesome! my art teacher always complains about how when she was young, she had to take latin, and now she’s 78 and has never needed it once. I find it really helpful because so many english words come from latin, especially words that you don’t hear very often, in complicated books. Like medical books. Or harder.
I’m considering taking latin for highschool, but I might continue spanish or take up another language altogether. Any advice for a good language to learn?
My high school only offers Spanish and French (it’s really small). So I take Spanish, because I took it last year (and the year before, and the year before).
ã‚„ã£ãŸï½žï¼ï¼I did the first part of my Japanese final today, and I got a 99%. Oooh I’m so relieved.
Latin sounds really interesting to take. Learning more than just the roots of words like we did in elementary school would be awesome.
227-Latin’s great. I’m considering switching to french after this year, but i don’t think i will because a-latin pwns b-doc is amazing and c-ramunzic skares me
227 – If you want something that will be easy-ish to learn, try German, because English is fairly closely related to it. But if you’re not tired of Spanish, you should probably keep going with that, because it is easier to keep going in one language than to start a new one.
Wow, haven’t been here in awhile. :O. Anyways, I am taking Spanish. The similarities between French, Spanish, and English is sometimes surprising. You can tell which words are similar by their roots.
231: German is not easyish. 20000 different cases, with dfferent pronouns and conjugations for each one is a pain.
Alle hageln die Babel Fisch-Übersetzung Seite an: http://babelfish.altavista.com/
wo Ihr Lehrbuch jetzt ist, wie?
yo hablo espanol.
today we had our spanish midterm and I wrote 2 “essays” one was about a lady that went into the post office and bought 70 stamps, 40 for her packages and 30 for a gift for her parents. she needed $20 to pay but she only had $10 so she was sad and she went to the bank for more money. the people in the post office were annoyed, but nice.
the second one was a newspaper article about my vacation to mexico. I went on a walk to the big park. the park had a lake. the lake was red! why was the lake red? I don’t know.
why do we write things like this? we should write things that are useful, not 50 word newspaper articles!
hey, not to get off topic, but, is anyone here taking their math A? i am, on thursday afternoon.
I took Japanese for 7 years. I can spell my name!
クラーラ
*feels special*
(235),
Sounds as if you need Robert’s advice on how to make boring assignments interesting.
227- if you want to learn something that you can actually communicate with, take Spanish. Probably the most useful second language to know in the Western Hemisphere. If you want to learn more about English, grammar, linguistics, etc take latin.
233 – Okay, I guess if you’ve taken it then you’d know. My assertion came from the fact that the kids next door to me are learning German from their mom and seem to know more of it every second.
I’ve decided to take french, instead of spanish because it just seems easier, My friend is forced to take German from her crazy parents, and she hates it!
241- french is a lot harder than spanish – in spanish, everything is pronounced the way it’s spelled. not so in french.
My German lesson (for myself) for the day:
Ein Augenblick
This means “an instant.”
Which I think is cool because “Augen” means “eyes” and “Blick” means “view.” So together they mean “eyesview.” Which is sort of like “a bat of an eye’ — or in other words “an instant.”
I am stuck in a dumb program that requires me to take 3 languages this year.
So far I have sat through Intro French.
(Bon soir, Je m’appelle Bob) I think thats right, don’t really care.
I am sitting through Intro spanish and I will be sitting through Intro german. Evil program that does this to me.
Oh, And I’ve been taking hebrew since i was tiny.
244-not dumb! kewl! languages are fun. I can only take one. :'(
I’m taking spanish.. I am not happy that our school only offers spanish and french. So that is really not fair. And we only get to start takingit once we start high school… I agree with ebeth, too. Murder the schedulers. I’ve allreayd had to get it changed 3 times, once to switch band and gym because there just isn’t a 7th period band, but that doesn’t stop them from asigning it to half the people, and once because honors geometry was too full and I din’t have a desk. So now I’m back to the schedule I had fist semester, which I prefer.
Sorry to go off topic BUT
Lorilei(sp?) mentioned Muse :0
“I need a muse to whisper inspiration to me.”
eh sorta.
Ok keep on going with the language conversation.
I am taking German at the moment. Since I’m in 8th grade, everyone in 8th including me has to take three languages during the three trimesters of the year. I took French the first (I swear the only reason I liked it was because the teacher was awesome), now I have German, and I have Spanish next. I love German!!! It’s soooo easy! I have 100% for an average. I think. Either that or higher. The weirdest thing is that the German teacher, Frau *******, has the same last name as I do! Weird…
I remember in first to third grade I had to take Spanish. I don’t remember ANY of it!!! My dad lived in Mexico for a year of his life ( no he is NOT Mexican ) so he can teach me Spanish if I want to learn it. I want to take German in high school. It’s sooo cool!
Oh and there’s this kid in my German class who says that he took German for three years already. Guess what he got on the last test. He got a 44%! And he’s like, “Well we didn’t learn any of this!” Well, we didn’t learn any of it either, and my friend, Jen, who always gets bad grades got a better grade than him. She got an 89%! That is saying something.
I lied on the MuseBlog. I did. I told you my first language was French. It’s not–It’s Michif, a language spoken by 500-1000 people worldwide. A mixture of Cree and French, and a little English and Assiniboine, the language is a companion to extinct Bungee. There’s a Wikipedia entry on it. It’s unique among blended languages because instead of simplifying the two languages’ grammar, it mixes the most demanding and elegant elements of French and Cree, and the people who created it were the children of French fur trappers and native Cree, and probably fully fluent in both languages. I’ve never had actual occasion to use full Cree since I was about eight years old. More people speak Klingon than my mother tongue. I only know a little German, I speak French very well, I speak English, and I’m pretty good at Spanish. In my school the only language offered is Spanish, and I’m continuing it into high school.
type something in Michif, queenie J!
Spanish isn’t that boring, guys, it’s just got a boring reputation as it’s one of the most commonly offerd languages.
249- I wish my first language was something interesting or that I grew up speaking english and another language. (It’d be cool to have grown up speaking both english and something else. Well, I sorta did but Spanish only at school y un poquito at home. I wanna learn Michif now. I also want to learn Quechua and Nepali and Hindi and Hebrew and German and Italian and more Welsh….
I like Spanish. It’s fun to learn. Maybe that’s because I’ve always had uber good teachers. But I really like it.
i can say “the twenty-four hour period of iniquity” in Italian!
Il perioda di ora di venti-quattro di iniquita!
at least, i think thats how it goes . . .
GAPAs, you should make a shifty-eyed smiley
QJ, that’s awesome!
When my grandma speaks with her mother, (my great-grandma), they speak a mixture of polish and english and french. So when we listen to them talk, we hear them speaking a gibberish we don’t know, then you’ll hear an english word tossed in. It’s really strange.
(255) That reminds me of when I was in high school and visited a friend whose parents came from Greece. Her mom always spoke Greek, but she often ended her sentences with “Okay?”
I am so going to take German next year! I would take it this year, but in middle school they only have French and Spanish.
These people from the high school came to my school during lunch to tell people about the foreign languages at the high school, and they said that the German teach is really nice. Awesome! I can’t wait. Also, they gave anyone who went to ask about the languages gummy bears, which I haven’t had in just about forever.
Okay, this post probably didn’t make much sense, but I’m too tired to actually do anything about it.
Yo hablo Espanol
et Francais
My step grandmother speaks only Cantonese and just an inkling of English. I can usually get the gist of what she and my stepmom are talking about because of the way they say it, any names I recognize, and if they’re laughing or looking really pissed. I still want to learn Cantonese because I know that they talk about me. It goes a bit like thiswhen they think I can’t hear them:
——— —- —– — Ötzi — — —- — !
They usually sound angry.
QJ- that’s sooo cool!
violindino (257)- You should definately take German! It’s soooooo much fun! i swear, I love that language!!! It’s sooo easy yet fun.
I can count to ten in Spanish and that’s it. I used to be able to go up to like 100 but as I said, I don’t remember anything.
one of my life dreams is to be a hyperpolyglot.
LANGUAGES I WOULD LIKE TO LEARN
Improved Spanish
Improved French
Mandarin
Cantonese
Japanese
Arabic
Russian
Welsh
Corsican
Aramaic
Navajo
Iroquois
Salish
Well, it’s possible
And ASL
238 ~ That’s genius. Now I can’t wait until Spanish class.
What day is today?
Well, according to most people, it’s Monday, but according to the Julian calendar, it’s Tuesday.
(I think that’s right…not sure though.)
Ötzi: That’s quite ambitious. What do you mean by “improved?”
262- ASL’s handy. I keep having to think way back to my eighth grade (I’m in eleventh now) ASL class when I babysit. I babysit a boy who has down syndrome and when I first get there he acts a little shy and signs more than he talks. If his older (eight years old or so) sister is there she understands his signing but if it’s just me and him or me, him and his little sister I need to remember my eighth grade class. (his little sisters turning two)
261- oh, that list sounds cool too! *adds languages to her list of “to learn”*
I’ve always wanted to learn sign language. Sarah’s mom is a teacher of deaf children except there aren’t really any around here that are under the age of fifteen so she just teaches preschool now, I think.
im new here! anyway i just stazrted french this year and im not that good but i can say my fave animal.
hérisson! hérisson! hérisson! hérisson!
hehe.
i found the url of this site in the january magazine
i just got my first muse but i read them from my school library before.
I wanted to learn it at one point also. There used to be this one kid who knew sign language, so I’d try to learn from him. Unfortunately, all he knew was “boyfriend”, “girlfriend”, and something I’m not allowed to say on this blog… XD
wanna learn:
Finnish
Norwegian
Icelandic
Gaelic
Helvetian
I know about 10-15 words in Irish Gaelic. Including seaweed, boot and cow. Cow is actually Bo, (as one fanletter said awhaile ago in muse), except with an acent-thingy.
Diadhuit!
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.
Guess what language that’s in? Everybody who knows, just be quiet.

(26) Oooh same here. I think I’m focusing on Asian languages though…but I’d like to know the big European languages as well. And Gaelic. Life goal ftw.
ãŠèª•生日ãŠã‚ã§ã¨ã†HYDE~
Above is Happy Birthday in Japanese, minus the English (although it’s true hurk hurk ) It’s said “Otanjoubi omedetou” or just “Tanjoubi omedetou” . You can add “gozaimasu” at the end as well.
271- I guess latin! and could you please not do that repeating of the at signs (or anything, really) without spaces? it stretches the page out annoyingly.
264: Meaning I already speak Spanish and French, but would like to improve on them.
I can call someone a pervert in Japanese and also say “excuse me”, “yes” and count to 4.
My mom speaks Wolof, a language of some peoples in and around Gambia. I have no idea how she learned it.
My life dream is to be featured in a magazine (kinda like MUSE) as one of those people who learned alot of languages.
Oh whoa I meant 260 avkjsgb ignore my inability to type.
(276) That’s neat! My mom spoke some Arabic…
Has anyone had dreams in other languages? D: I want to. I think it’s a sign of fluency in a language.
277: I had a dream in Spanish once…unfortunately, it mostly involved being kidnapped and repeatedly offered llama meat. I used to dream is French, but those days have long since passed as my French becomes rustier..
277- I’ve dreamed in Spanish before and I might have dreamed in French. I do think in Spanish ocassionally though.
My half birthday is on February 4th. Does that count for anything?
280: um, yay?
i think in arabic/ english/ french, and talk mostly in english…but then im just wierd like that…probably happiest talking arabic…
i know a girl whose mom is from cambodia and dad is from china. her dad and mom speak different native languages and sorta broken english, so she and her sister only speak english with a heavy asian acsent.
I think in French sometimes, I’m not fluent, but I speak street French pretty well. I never remember my dreams though.
Over on January Jubilee, people have mentioned arguments about which languages are better than others. I don’t think you can really say that one language is superior to another. Every language I’ve studied has its own special features that I like, and each has proved useful in its way. They all offer songs, literature, new ways of thinking about things, interesting people to meet and talk to. Which one to study just depends on what you’re after.
When I studied Spanish in high school, it had very low status. Bright kids took French or German. Spanish was supposed to be an “easy” language for “dumb jocks.” The classes were agony (same lesson over and over again), but I loved the language–its clear vowels and uncrowded consonants, its verve and humor. I sat in the back with my fingers in my ears and plowed through the book, and the teacher understood and left me alone. Nowadays, I gather, smart kids study Spanish, too.
The only choices, as I’ve said, are French and Spanish at our school. I’ve heard that Spaish is a more useful language, plus it’s closer to italian which I’d be interested in learning sometime too.
That’s so awesome you guys have dreams in Spanish and French…argh. -jealous- XD
I hate how bad talk about a certain class because some people don’t like it or the teacher is considered “bad” (usually this is people going along with a common misconception anyway) makes the language look bad too. I always complained about Spanish, but it was really a nice language. Though I still prefer Japanese. hurhur I’m so glad my school offers it.
THE MORAL IS never let other people make you think a language “is stupid!!1” because that’s being close minded, which is not cool. Yay Robert for bringing that up!
269/270 – I don’t know the Gaelic language, but I know Celtic runes. I write with them in my assignment notebook and the people sitting next to me are like “Woooooooaaaaaaaahhhhhh.” Me and one of my freinds write notes to each other in it, and it’s rather sad that nobody else knows them because they’re kindof hard to correspond with the American alphabet unless you find the right book (which I did and even though there’s a lot of weird stuff about runecasting mumbojumbo it’s useful for the language and what the runes ment in Celtic times.)
284 – If you even think of replacing those arguments with any brightly colored animals, I will pie you.
286 – My school only offers spanish. Nothing else. At. All.
279 – Me too. And sometimes I accidentally start talking in Spanish or writing in Spanish. But I do the writing mistake with the Celtic runes too. (I’m constantly forgetting how to write the letters M and Y for some reason. Tis quite annoying.)
287: Wot’s the book called?
I really like my spanish class. It’s uber hard, but we learn a lot. The only thing I hate about it is that we have THREE TEXTBOOKS!!! *dies*
HAH!! *throws pies in face* we don’t have ANY textbooks!
How come I can go on this thread and see Flamablamblous February in the recent threads column, but I click on it and it doesn’t exist?
