    1. New MA thread, we have also passed 300
    2. Bottom of page button at the top of threads… It would make scrolling a lot easier on mobile devices and my computer has a tendency to go back to the top again if I scroll too far.
3.On the who’s posted, how much thing, there are different names on their that are the same person when they have added to their name with points or what have you. I know I am on there 3 different times. Possibly these names could be combined.

I must say, I’m against more RPGs, especially those moving away from any affiliation with MB. I’m aware this looks rather hypocritical, compared with the post below. But still, we have so many RPGs lying dead, and I think that this magic animal RPG is likely to be another Magic RPG, or Demigod RPG, that has hundreds of posts and moves really quickly for awhile, and then is universally abandoned, and left to rot. How many of those are there?
This should probably apply to the H2G2 RPG thread idea too. but a) it sounds so amazing that I have to make an exception, and b) it seems like the majority of the RPGs that die quickly are those where the main appeal is the powers, which is not the case for this one.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      • Adeia says:

Though it sounds cool, I must agree with Errata… Which brings me to another suggestion: First, a “dead thread” must be defined, say no posts for a year or so…. When a thread reaches this “expiration date” or is closed, it should be moved to an archive that can be acessed thruogh a button on the main bar. This will help reduce clutter and confusion, though the threads can still be used, like true archives, for reference. Though, if people start posting again on a thread that was classified as “dead” for at least daily for a set amount of time, about a month, the GAPAs can at there digression move the thread back in with the living. The above probably was terribly confuzzuling, but to those who understood it, what’s your take on it? GAPAs, is the above idea at all plausible? That whole little discription probably sounded like a legal document. I am done now.

We _really_ need a new Poems and Songs thread. Not only is it still in the 2009s, but it takes a really long time to scroll to the bottom. It’s 179 posts, not counting replies. Also, with a new thread, we could have New Thread Post Influx Syndrome! You know, the thing where everyone is suddenly mass posting on a thread once it goes into the Recent Posts bar. And there should be more poetry in the universe.

Can we maybe bring back the Incredible Morphing Chameleon Thread, but with a few variations? It seems like there are a lot of threads that people post on a lot for a month or two, and then they die. So could we have a thread where we choose a topic in the Suggestion Box and it lasts either for a set period of time or until it dies (Say, no activity for five days)? We wouldn’t have to get a new thread every month, just whenever it’s filled.
Although this idea’s probably going to need to be adjusted quite a lot, it just seemed like we maybe need something like the IMCT….

“I wish for more wishes.” “Granted. Santa Claus’s mailing address has now been permanently changed to your own.”

Ooh, a time travel RPG would be cool, but I’d prefer it to be:

    a) Less fast paced (No “We run into Montezuma and then we meet Napoleon and then guess what we save the Earth from colliding with it’s future self!)

    b) More subtle. I can’t really give an example of what I want, but certainly not common time travel where you somehow seem to never run into your future self, though you meet your previous selves all the time.

    c) Focused on the story rather than characters. The flow of time should be something they preserve, not wander willy nilly throughout. They should be focused on the job they have to do, and so should the story.

    d) Not cliche. No going to Pompeii, or pepperpots with one word vocabularies, or blue police boxes. (Sorry, Who fans).

Of course, I could write my own story…

Now by scavenger hunt I don’t mean scavenger hunt like “Go and find a blue thing and bring it back. Go and find a stick. Go and find something beginning with M.” I mean like we could come up with a list of Stuff We Want To Do Over The Summer, and all try to do as much of it as we can. Liiiike… we decide that this summer, we’re going to try to hug at least three trees. Or, one day, pretend that we are a time traveler. Or walk around in bare feet outside for an entire day. Randomly awesome/awesomely random things. You get the picture.

Okay, just to keep momentum up, a repost of what I said back in April regarding a Yuri’s Night party next year…

I think that MB should hold a virtual Yuri’s Night party… in April of NEXT year. I say this because:
    1) We’d never organize in time for April 12th of this year.
    2) Seeing how much resistance there was to a Moon Landing Day party in the summer, I realize a late March-early April party is never going to be approved unless it’s a one-time thing that never happens again. Thus, as next year is the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s flight, I feel it should be the one time this party takes place.

All ideas which follow are subject to suggestion, criticism, change, and evolution…

Who: Any MuseBloggers who wish to attend. If you wish to assume the persona of a technician, astronaut, or spy or just create some sort of backstory for yourself, you’re welcome, but it’s not mandatory.

    When: March 20th to April 17th, 2011.

Where: On the Yuri’s Night thread. Within the classic Muse Academy ballroom, decorated to resemble a room aboard Space Station Odyssey in all ways possible.

    Food:

Décor: 2001: A Space Odyssey is the general reference. 2011 as seen by 1961. A large ballroom entered through sliding doors in the Star Trek fashion. Models and framed photographs showing the highlights of spaceflight and SF in the past 50 years decorate the room. (Yes, lots of gorgeous Hubble shots) “In-story”, we are aboard a rotating space station, and large “windows” (Perhaps floor-to-ceiling) will show the rest of the station, the Earth below, the moon and stars, and every now and then, shuttles and cargo ships flying up to dock with the station. (The windows being just TV screens and all of this being stock footage or CGI.) Perhaps announcements over a PA periodically to announce the “dockings”.

Music: A live band, playing a mix of 60s classics, New Age electronica, and any other favorites requested. Any MBer who wishes to drop in and play with the band may.

Dress: Futuristic formal. Black suits and ties, glow-in-the-dark dresses, neatly pressed jumpsuits, shirtsleeves with pocket protectors and skinny ties, Starfleet dress uniform, and the like. Go for a 60s feel, but nothing too hippie.

The goings-on: To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s pioneering spaceflight, and the completion of Space Station Odyssey, various distinguished employees from the space agencies of the world have been invited to enjoy a civilized evening of dancing, music, intelligent conversation, and Earthwatching. (Binoculars provided at windows by wungs.) But keep on your toes, as befits the anniversary of such a prominent Cold War event, espionage and intrigue are in the air…

I have an amazing Idea for a new thread…. At the camp I went to recently, there was this activity called acting improv…. In it there were several improv games we would play, including this one called sphinx. In said game a few people would line up to make the “sphinx” will everyone else was free to line up and ask questions to said “sphinx, who would answer by each person saying one word, though it rarely was gramaticly correct or made sense. Sphinx reminded me of this activity people in my school would do, where a group of people would pass around a paper and each would write a word or two to make a story. When I told this to people at the camp they loved it and it became known as “Written Sphinx.” I personally think this would be really fun to do on muse blog, with one person starting by posting a word and the next person copying and pasting and adding a word of their own, and so on and so forth…. The only downside is that for everything to go smoothly, moderation would have to go relatively fast, to insure that multiple people don’t add a different words to the same post and make it more confusing… Opinions?

“Basically, the “-punk” genres of fiction take the technology that existed at a given point in history and imagine it jacked up to modern, near-future, or fantastic levels. Steampunk, for example, is based on the steam-powered technology that existed at the end of the 19th Century, but in a Steampunk story you might have a steam-powered spaceship, a steam-driven suit of powered armor, or a steam-powered raygun shooting “aetherial electro-pulses” (Since Steampunk is based on Victorian times, there’s a lot of Victorian-style technobabble thrown around.) Atompunk, similarly, would be based on 1950s predictions of atomic-powered technology and Science Fiction of that era. “

Stuff like conversations I have with friends about what it means to be straight and bi and gay, or discussions on how to come out to friends and family, or personal anecdotes on being LGBTQetc, or having a friend come out to me, or really anything of that nature. Okay, just to keep momentum up, and inspired by the sentiments expressed on the Random Thread, a repost of what I said back in April and again in June regarding a Yuri’s Night party next year…

I think that MB should hold a virtual Yuri’s Night party… in April of 2011. Seeing how much resistance there was to a Moon Landing Day party in the summer, I realize a late March-early April party is never going to be approved unless it’s a one-time thing that never happens again. Thus, as next year is the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s flight, I feel it should be the one time this party takes place.

IMPORTANT: all ideas which follow are subject to suggestion, criticism, change, and evolution and none should be considered to be set in stone…

    Food: TBD

Ooh, I posted something about having a MuseBlog orchestra a while back! I forget where and when, though. Anyway, that would be extremely spiffing if we could get it to work. Maybe we could choose a piece, and then a common tempo for everyone to play it to?

And then video one of the GAPAs conducting it so that we can all play it watching the same conductor? (like the YouTube orchestra project q few years ago :D)

That would be so awesome. We must try it. Please?

YES, WE MUST. I WILL DEVOTE MY LIFE TO THIS PROJECT IF ENOUGH PEOPLE AGREE. You can tell how excited (understatement of the century) I am because I was typing in caps lock, and I rarely do that here.

If enough people express interest, maybe we could have a specific thread devoted to it, GAPAs, please?

A while back (post 57), I mentioned something about having a version of the Who’s Here page, but in chronological order of the arrivals of each MBer. I thought it would be nice to able to see when one arrived in relation to everyone else, and actually visualise how old or new one is to the ‘Blog.

Well, this evening, since I have just finished exams and had nothing (urgent) that needed doing, I decided to put in all the names in Excel, copy out the dates for each one into an adjacent column, and then sort the whole thing by date. Ergo, I now have, on my computer, that very list that I mentioned but which never really took hold. It took me most of the evening, but I love you guys too much.

Would the GAPAs want me to post it as a comment on the Who’s Here page, or would it be too long? It has 640 rows on Excel. Or I could just send the Excel document to one of your emails and you could put it up as a separate page? If so, which email would you prefer?

Okay, well, I’ll see if the comment works, and if not, I’ll do it by email. They have the dates twice because I didn’t want to go and delete all the pre-existing dates that were there; typing out the dates again took enough time as it were.

[We’ve cut-and-pasted the list onto its own page.]

I realize this probably wouldn’t work, but would it be possible for the paleo accounts to be able to have status messages? They would be just like our avatars, like, every time we changed them, it would say what we changed them to on all of our previous posts.

Could we have a new Visual Arts thread? I realize the old one has only 300 comments or so but it’s taking forever to load on my computer.

Could we have another Words and Names thread? I found one via the random button, and it looked fun, though we haven’t had one in years.
