Life, the universe, pies, hot-pink bunnies, world domination, and everything
For communicating in other languages and in variants of this one.

We (the Etheterre people) should come up with a proper Xixin language. I came up with a bunch of words and loose grammar a while ago, but I forgot it all.
first post?
Oundsay unfay.
(Excluding Ble, I assume?)
Entonces…quales otras personas aqui hablan Espanol?
It’s not fair that we can’t communicate in sign langauge on this thread.
*is-ay oyly-cay ood-way*
*isos cocoyoylolyoy wowoodod*
Sadly, I don’t know many variations.
Agegulan bermemre doesdyboyan?
Yeah, that’s pretty much it. For languages.
For some reason all of my “muchos” in that last post came out as much. My error.
What? I’m confused.
5- You have butter of (something) in your brain.
kiwi- this is a thread for people to talk in different and not usually used languages, and also fun variations of languages like English. looks like spanish, pig latin, and jibberish are spoken here.
Oooh! Yo hablo Espanol!
Hola, me llamo Kai. En diez anos, seria una arqueologica.
8 – Peanut butter.
And I’m pretty sure it’s cacahuate.
10 – Bien.
-boycotts this thread until there’s someway to communicate in Sign Language-
(Not really. Sign language is one of the three “official” languages I could reasonable communicate in, though.
4- Doi! Isthisha lyonthe Ione bermemre!
Tus eres muy, um, inteligente. Yo tengo mucho queso en mi cerebro. Yo hablo Español. El GAPAs hablas espanol tambÃen?
In Middle English (the language Chaucer spoke, hundreds of years after Beowulf but hundreds of years before Shakespeare), “Coy Woodnesse” meant “quiet madness.” Coy Woodnesse threads go ‘way back in MuseBlog’s history.
(6) It looks to me as if some of your browsers include automatic spellcheckers.
Is binary banned? my post isn’t here
12 – Creo que si. No se, pero es muy possible
13 – Nah, I think I was just typing too fast. I do that a lot.
I would die without cognates…not really. But I probably would.
(14) No binary, please. It’s too hard to moderate.
15-
Greatly I do not understand why this page here it appeared. Well it is agreeable, in principle this is very interesting.
(15, 18) I’d translate 15 as follows: “So, I don’t understand very well why this page appeared here. But OK, in principle it’s very interesting.”
*knows Russian*
20- Vy govorite po-russki?
20 – Interesting. -doesn’t know Russian and relies on Google translator-
hwo nca gsesu hwo i ma? ntha: cntlerey gdecahn.
20- Oh really, do you? Are you sure you didn’t use freetranslation. com? Sorry if this is not allowed…Hmmmmmmmm…….
Bayeay siay igpay atinlay orfay Ebay

27 – No hablo espanol!
28 – Owway. Atthay isay awesomeay.

Yaaaaay! Languages!
Or should I say: Aaaaaaayay! Anguageslay!
Here’s the super easy language I like to confuse my friends with:
1. Take any word and divide it in half.
2. Take the second half and put it at the front of the word.
3. If the word has an uneven amount of letters, make the part you stick in front the smaller portion.
So “I totally love Muse” would be:
“I llytota velo Semu”.
Elfe eefr ot onji ni, fi uyo ntwa.
38- Atth mssee os olco!
38- Eetsw.

I always feel woefully inadequite at languages. Two of my friends speak Spanish, one of them speaks Russian, too. Another friend speaks French, and I had some friends from Quebec a few years ago.
*sigh* I speak English and Pig-Latin. *sigh again* I started Latin, but we didn’t get too far, we also have a Spanish course- but it’s all on tape and Mom can’t hear it.
Ail-hay, ellow-fay ig-pay atin-lay peakers-say!!
I speak English (duh), Spanish, Pig Latin, Myna, whatever you want to call that language I just posted, and Elvin. Here’s one for the “If X, then Y” thread: You know you’re addicted to languages when half the ones you know are nonexistant. :p
44–Estoy aqui. Pero no estoy un hispanohablante.
I have been trying to learn both Sindarin and Quenya…well, last year I was. I sort of lost interest for some reason.
48 – I had the same problem with Latin.
Continuing 38…
Oloc. Ti mssee keli ceni uagelang.
48 – I’m learning how to write Tengwar. ‘Tis fun.

I found a variant on Ubidubi (spelling?) called Op (you add op after every consonant). Boputop ubopidopubopi isop moporope fopunop topo soppopeakop, fopurop sopomope ropeasoponop “ubop” sopounopdopsop fopunopnopierop.

54- Lopikope tophopisop? Copoolop.
54 – I’ve heard of that one too, but my friend called it Opish. There’s also another variation (actually, I’m suspicious that it came first) called Eggy-Peggy, which I think comes from England. It has the same rules as ubbi dubbi, but instead of inserting ubs everywhere, you insert eggs.
Ubi yubused tubo bube flubuubent ubin ububbubi dububbubi (spubeakubing ubit ubout luboud) bubut thuben nubo wubone wubantubed tubo tubalk tubo mube ubin ubit. Subo Ubi kubind ubof fuborgubot.
9) Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. I took one semester of French this year……. let’s see……….. Oooooooo! I got it!
J’aime fromage. J’aime fromage. Le fromage est tre bon. Je mange fromage.
Mopyop nopamope isop Noptophopanopdopa tophope Lopaugophoperop.
One thing I remember now, when you speak Op (or Opish) outloud, you have to be a very fast speller.
59 – Very nice. Now what does “mange” mean? I know what the rest of it is…
60 – Yeah, I can imagine. Quick question though, does Op place an “op” before every consonant or every consonant sound?
59 – Je’mappelle Kokonilly. That’s about all I know. And omelet du fromage. Cheese omelet.
Yopesop I gopuesopsop yopuo dopo hopavope topo bope a gopoodop soppopeloploperop.
I amop Kopokopnopiloplopyop.
61–erm…after every consonant sound, I guess. Y counts as a consonant, if that’s what you’re wondering.
Can ya’ll help me think of a name for the flippy language I suggested in post 38? Thanx mucho.
63 – I KNEW y counted as a consonant!!!!
64 – Y is usually a consonant, and only sometimes a vowel.
63 – Hmmm… Pyflip?
65–ah ah I keli atth eon. Nkstha!
65 – Yopou sopee, nopobopodopy evoperop topeloplopsop mope tophopesope kopinopdopsop ofop usopefopulop soptopufopfop.
Ja pricam Bosanski ali ja nesnam spelovat. (I speak Bosnian but I can’t spell in it) My purpose in telling you that was to warn you that any online translator will just give you a funny look if you put this in. Actually, the spelling is mostly phonetic so I think I’m okay, but still. Don’t try
Bon. Au revoir pour maintenant. (I didn’t put in any accents, so again no use trying with an online translator.)
Dobro. Sada ja moram radit zadacu. Sdravo.
Sdravo!
I have made several written codes by using the lines in normal writing and re-arrianging them. I sometimes write notes in it (I have it memorized) instead of normal writing….heh heh heh, I use it in my notebooks when I don;t want the casual observer to know what I’m saying. And extra precaution, since if anyone reads my notebooks they die.

61) mange = eat
Bonjour! Je m’appelle kiwimuncher! Je ne mange pas pizza graisseuse! J’aime pizza delicieux!
hmmmmmmm. I don’t know why I just said that…….
75-Bonjour!
Bonjour, mes amis! Comment ça va? J’aime français!
(Geez, I’m in French 3, I shouldn’t be butchering French like this.)
76) What does ecrire mean?
77) Bonjour! Ca va tre bien! Et toi?
(Hey! You’re not butchering it! You said it right!)
78-Write.
Bonjour. Sdravo. Sada, ja pricam u Bosanski.
Bonjour encore, mes amis! J’ai besoin d’un poisson (It’s the first thing I thought of saying). J’aime le blog de Muse. J’aimerai etudier la russe. Je finira dire les choses randomes maintenant.
Bonjour.
(assuming thread is feminine which it probably isn’t)
I was speaking in Opish today rather rapidly at lunch. It was hilarious seeing their faces! I cracked up!!!
I only know English and a limited amount of conversational Latin– enough to get by in ancient Rome, order dinner, haggle for souvenir amphorae, etc., but I’m by no means fluent.
I guess Pig Latin and the other ‘secret’ languages don’t count.
84–Of course they count. The secreter, the better.

Donc, auvoir.
86 – I topyoppope wopitophop fopourop fopinopgoperopsop.
78) Cool! Thankyou!
80) Super! Tu etudier la russe?
87) Ce qui est d’orthographe? (did I say that right :???:)
Ma mere est fache. Je dois dormir maintenant! Salut!
89- Actually, I think I was saying “I would like to study Russian”
87- “J’ai besoin d’un poisson” was the first phrase that popped into my head.
I just wanted to say that I have OFFICIALLY learned ALL the verb tenses in Spanish (Mexican Spanish, that is). They include:
-Past
-Present
-Future
-Present Progressive
-Imperfect
-Progressive
-Commands (you +/-, they, we)
-Conditional
Present perfect
future perfect
conditional perfect
etc etc. There are more but I’m too lazy to write them.
There’s also toadlatin, and toadpigtoadlatin. Toad latin has “ibbit” instead of “ay”, and toadpigtoadlatin alternates between the two.
I’m taking Spanish next year in high school.
Ach, crivens! Ah’m queet bad a’ th’ Feegle di-er-lect! If ye dinna ken wha’ ah’m sayin’, gae an’ reed dem books aboot Tiffany Aching!

What are we doing here? I love English. It’s good.
Sdravo. Ja nesnam sta rec. Vidjemo se drugi dan…
95- Um… You can talk in -something something-, for no -something- except what we want.
Now I go -something something- a forum on the internet where there are -something- people what speak Spanish. MuseBlog is good, but there aren’t many people here what -something something- more of five -something-.
Ugh. *gets out dictionary* Hey! Foro means stage!
I can’t remember the conjugations of ser! *gasps* *has heart attack* *dies*
Or in English, a spelling bee. (Orthographe means spelling.)
imperfect indicative: era, eras, era, éramos, erais, eran
present subjunctive: sea, seas, sea, seamos, seáis, sean
imperfect subjunctive: fuera, fueras, fuera, fuéramos, fuerais, fueran
imperative: sé, seas, sea, seamos, seáis, sean
future: seré, serás, será, seremos, seréis, serán
Those are the only conugations of ser that I know, but I think there are a few more. *sigh* There are so many!!
I feel stupid. I speak neither French nor Spanish.
*attempts to remember Chinese lessons last year* Ni hao. Wo de jiao Turquoise. Wo you yi ge didi, ta shi xiao. Ta shi annoying. Wo xihuan youyong. Wo hen xihuan kan shu. Ni ne?
102- I’m so proud of myself for understanding some of that. What I got was ‘Hi! My name is Turquoise. I have a little sister? (if not little sister, some sort of sibling probably younger.), something something. She(he?) is annoying. I something something. I something something something. Something something?’
I sort of want to study Chinese in college. My brother takes Chinese.
I studied Mandarin Chinese for a little while a long time ago. So I was happy I remembered enough to sort of translate the post from Turquoise. Here’s my attempt:
Hello. I’m Turquoise. I have a little brother, he is small. He is annoying. I like swimming. I really like reading. And you?
Turquoise, please correct this if it’s not quite right!
104 – Yes, that’s right! *is happy* Cool!
Well, it’s what I meant at least. It’s been a while since my last lesson.
*is happy* squared! I’m glad I remembered enough to translate
I just started studying Italian. Let’s see…
Io sto studiando l’Italiano.
Hmmm. Maybe when I have progressed a little…
Any one do german?
108-Nope. But, I really want to as all of my favorite music is in German!
I am taking Espanol next year. Yo hablo poquito Espanol. Mi mama me ayudo con esta post.
Io capisco *gives up* I only started about a week ago, hence my utter patheticness.
Quelle fille horrible!
Ja isto pricam Bosanski. Malo!
180-Art thou then a scholar of German?
Isibbit isthibbet owhibbit ouyibbit eakspibbit oglatinfribbit?
Me gusta.
112 – What?
110 – Bien para ti.
113 – Translation: Is this how you speak frog latin?
I like.
Desolee!
L’annee prochaine je commencerai a apprendre Greek! Chouette, n’est-ce pas?
Gaah! I need to learn how to speak French. All I know how to say is “bonjour” “comment-apelle tu” (no idea about the spelling on that one) and basic stuff like that. Bwah.

Hmm…I can semi understand spoken Russian, because of Bosnian, however, written, I am clueless. : (
J’ai trop a faire! Je ne reussirai jamais a finir. Qu’est-ce que je devrai faire? (insert expletive of your choice)
125 and 126–how did you type in Cyrillic?
I reeeeaally need to learn Russian. It sounds so cool but I can’t write it to save my life.
Podemos hablar en espanol? No se francais. Y no puedo escribir asentos en mi computadora.
Qu’est-ce qui passe?
Bah, le petit chat est mort…
127 – Oh, you speak Hebrew? I speak a tiny bit (if you count being able to say frog and toad and oatmeal speaking a tiny bit), though not enough to understand what you wrote.
Would this be a good thread to talk in Newspeak?
Newspeak is doubleplusgood. Homework, par contra, is double plus bad.
138–Plusdefinitely.
Me and my friend have decided that conversing in Newspeak (group 1 words mostly) is doubleplusgood. We typically do it in front of others to make them doubleplusmad. Unfortunately, we have only mastered the rudiments of group 1. So much to learn…Yay!
Salut!
Ca me fait heureuse!
Me responses etaient betes!
Oh well…
This will be my 7th unintercepted post! Sorry, popopo!
HYPATIA!
… sorry if I interrupted your private conversation.
Ahay ahay!
Thank you, Kokonilly! *gives 99999 tons of chocolate* Your interruption: saved me from the indignity of posting 8 times in a row, made me feel noticed, and generally gave me the sensation that people rescued from a long sojourn on a deserted island get!
*is grateful*
*is crushed by chocolate*
By CHOKLIT! Not chocolate! *is mock offended* Just kidding! How could I possibly be offended by she who just rescued me from the stranded island!
*gives far more choklit*
*is crushed by choklit*
Much betta! And just for that:
*gives a tad more choklit*

(That was probably horribly gramatically incorrect, but it’s been about two months since I’ve spoken any proper spanish…)
Je ne pas parler espagnol………..
Hola?
161 – Buenos dias.
160 – You think that’s bad? I’ve hardly spoken any Spanish since halfway through fourth grade…
Buenos noches?
Je vais dormir!
kh lkjhd zcv ahdjfufh kqer yuk, jhao wor cvx hoo.
164) What is that supposed to mean?
163 – Eh, ahora es mas como noche. Pero cuando escribio 162, fue la dia. =/
166) Oh no. I don’t know Spanish……. *looks up on translator* It didn’t work. I’m confused.
Anyway, “Buenos noches” was the only other phrase I know. I know the word for book! “Libro!”
(167, 166) It’s “buenas noches,” kiwimuncher. And Cat’s Meow said (literally) “Now it’s more like night. But when I wrote 162, it was day.
Oh. Oops. I was always a bad speller.

Did you all know that there is a Latin Wikipedia?
http://la.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winnie_ille_Pu
I love the Web.
Random stuff in Latin
Alba feles
Flava schapa
Femina promissos habet
septim animalia
LAtin? Really? Awesome!
172- Ita vero.
173- I don’t think several of those are correct.
-Felix alba – White cat
-“Schapa” isn’t a word, so I don’t know what that means.
-This one is fine, I think.
-Septem animalia (I think) – Seven animals
Salvete, omnes! Quo modo vos habet hodie? Sum bonus, sed defessus. Ubi est Paulus?
I don’t know Latin either……. only a little French……. but that’s irrelevant……….

How To Say “I’m Sorry, I don’t speak (insert language here)” In A Crapload of Languages.
by: the multilingual one.
(some characters may be off)
English: I’m sorry, I don’t speak English.
Spanish: Lo siento, yo no hablo espanol.
Luganda: Nedda, simanyi oluganda.
Azeri: Bagislayin, men azerbaycanca danisa bilmerem.
Icelandic: Mer pykir pad leitt, eg talla ekki islensku.
Hebrew: Slicha, ani lo medaber ivrit.

Malagasy: Miala tsiny aho fa tsy nahay miteny Malagasy.
Dinee’Tah (Navaho): Dooda, dineh bizaad doo shil beehozin da.
I think it’s slightly funny when people say stuff like that in that particular language, sense they are, after all, speaking that language when they say that sentence.
178 – I’m sorry. I don’t speak English.
179)
Yeah, though I can’t say I speak Hebrew, but I do know how to say that I can’t.
180 – Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
Je ne parler francaise!
I forgot ble- Nospeak.
THis is random…… but isn’t it kind of fun to do crazy things in front of people you don’t know and will never see ever again?
I don’t know why I brought this up here. Actually, I DO! First, I was thinking how even if you only knew one word in a language, you could still technically speak it. And then I thought about a person speaking a language when they only knew one word in it. Then, I thought about how I don’t know a lot of Spanish words, but I know the word for “book”. Then I thought about myself running around a street full of Spanish speaking people shouting, “Libros! Libros!” That would be hilarious.
I really want to learn Russian. One of the teachers at our school spent 6 years in school doing nothing but learning Russian. He went every day but Sunday and after a while the teacher wouldn’t speak English in front of him.
My friend Andy goes to Ukraine a lot and knows Russian. I should get him to teach me.
I’m taking Latin at school but that’s just because we don’t have Chinese or Russian.
I think that all schools should teach Chinese because so much of the world speaks it.
The Rosetta stone software is really good. I had it for Spanish when I went to Peru, and I actually learned a lot for the short amount of time I used it. I still haven’t finished all of the lessons though. I want to get the Russian one.
186) Really? Ukraine? We had an exchange student at our school last year that was from Ukraine! Perhaps he can tell Bohdon “hello” for me? Just kidding. Bohdon is the man though.
186- Zhelayu Udachi!
(Good luck!)
Wowsers. Is that Latin of Russian?
189-Russian. I don’t know Latin.
Tnatropmi si noitazilitpac tcerrocni! Sdrawkcab dellac s’ti. Detnevni I egaugnal wen a si siht.
Oh dear. Could you get rid of the last sentence? Sknaht!
I’m taking Spanish now! Well, only on Thursdays instead of the five full days that most kids are taking the class, but it’s better then nothing.
i almost took spanish I this year. but i didn’t

203-208- *raises eyebrows*
209 – Hey, we’re speaking in a language other than English. It’s just transliterated.
210- Uh Oh. The only thing I can do in hebrew is swear and say “I’m sorry, I don’t speak hebrew.”
211) That’s OK! I can’t even do that! But I’m happy that this thread is active again!
How do you swear in hebrew? *concocts evil plan*
212- I know a swear word in German!
212 -. All swearwords in Hebrew are taken from English or Arabic, so swearing in Hebrew would be the same as swearing in English, just with an Israeli accent. Swearwords translated literally don’t have the same connotation. I know that there are a lot of swearword-type Hebrew phrases (the result of some of my classmates doing dirty-word patrol in 9th grade) and there’s also the “curse you” types of phrases, like “may a rock fall on your head” which can be used in any language. But if the person you’re talking to doesn’t know Hebrew, it sounds much scarier.
Will I be snipped if I teach people how to swear in other languages?
*cannot believe that this is all we can do for foreign languages*
Zeh lo tov. Mah karah lanu?
I’m finally in Spanish, but it’s only on Thursdays and parts of Wednesdays. And it’s a little dumb. The teacher wants me to write out flash cards for the numbers 1-100 in Spanish so I can practice. Um, hello? Do you want me to stand there and recite them for you?
Hi, Cliff Eagle – Yes, swearing in any language on MuseBlog is snipworthy.
I do think it’s an interesting topic of discussion—though tricky to carry out here.
Here’s one interesting thing I’ve come across: For the Dutch, it’s common to swear by shouting out the word for a disease. As in shouting “Tuberculosis!” (except in Dutch) if someone bumped into them without apologizing .
214–How do you say “May a rock fall on your head” in Hebrew? I would love to use that one.
217–Ugh, I hate it when teachers assign busy work.
218–I am SO going to start doing that. Next time I fail a test–“Influenza!”
Doon-kophf is “dumb head” in German. It’s not a swear word , but it should do.
218- Tuberculosis…should work.
Homework…
Tuberculosis!
there, that worked well enough. Sounds strangely satisfying.
Or you could always shout random non-swear words like Captain Haddock does.
214) aw. no fun.
My friend told me how to say, “I hope you melt.” in German, but I forgot how to say it. Maybe I’ll say it in French. *checks converter*
Je espere tu fonte! Hmmmmmm. That probubly isn’t right. Alas.
“I hope you melt” in Spanish, Romanian, Portuguese, Norweigian, Italian, German, French, Finnish, Dutch, Danish, Czech, and Croatian (in that order). Take your pick (my personal favorite is the Dutch).
Espero que tu derretes!
Sper ca va topi!
Espero que voce derreter!
Jeg haper du smelte!
Spero che si fondono!
Ich hoffe, Sie schmelzen!
J’espere vous faire fondre!
Toivon, etta olette sulattaa!
Ik hoop dat je smelt!
Jeg haber, du smelter!
Doufam, teveniny!
Nadam se da vam se melt!

Other languages are awesome. One time, I made up a song in french about cheese. It consisted of…..
J’aime fromage.

and
Je mange fromage!
Totally awesomeness!
229 – Oh, you have to have the ; in there?

What about basque?- the language is way cooler than spanish and I’m thinking about learning it.
232 – What’s that?
bAsque? I don’t know either. rEminds be of Baskin Robins. *wants icercream NOW*
Basque is a language spoken by the basque people of Northern Spain. Although it is spoken in a mostly-Romance language area, scholars have no idea where this language developed. Their closest guess is to an ancient pre-Roman language called Aquitanian. Recently, to preserve their culture/ establish a Basque state, the Basques have formed Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA) a radical terrorist movement to fight for Basque independence.
235- But they’re peaceful now, right? I thought that they’ve laid down their arms. Maybe I’m thinking of the IRA.
Occitan is another cool language like Basque.
Occitan, however, is a Romance language, like French and Spanish. Basque has no known relatives. For all we know, it may have been the language the Neandertals spoke.
219 – She’even yinphol al roshecha. (Note: all e’s in there are pronounced “eh”)
236- That would be the IRA. But they have only “said” that they’ve laid down their arms. Who knows if they are telling the truth.
For the longest time I thought IRA stood for Irish Rebel Alliance. My family laughed at me for a very long time after I told them.
228, 229–Thanks!
232–Ooh, I love Basque! That’s another language I’ve been meaning to learn, along with Welsh and Swahili.
238–Sweet. Thanks! Is the “ph” in yinphol pronounced like an “f”?
240–Don’t feel bad. Today my little sister told me one of her friends is from the Philistine Islands.
241 – Yep. Sorry, I forgot to mention that.
Bonjour.
241- And Icelandic. I should totally learn Icelandic.
(244) Then you could read Viking sagas. I understand that modern Icelandic is virtually the same as Old Norse.
245) Cool…….. Viking-ness! Viking are awesomely awesome! THem and their awesomeness boat-ness. Ness. Ness ness. Ness ness ness.
Like Loch Ness?
237- Ah, yes. I should have made that clear. Occitan sounds like French, but bubbly.
I’d like to learn Papiamentu.
And the ETA did have talks last year, but it’s back now.
247) No, like in happyNESS and funnyNESS and AbruptNESS, etc.
249 – It was just a joke!
Zeh rak b’dicha!
I have a Spanish test tomorrow. On the days of the week, animals, and “What is your name?”
I don’t expect to fail.
The link below leads to the beginnings of a MuseBlog language, as discussed on the Alter Ego thread.
http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=d2nvgdc_154fr33fz62
Hmmm. So you didn’t make it up, one of the MBers did? Under an alter ego…Well, whoever it was just narrowed down the possibilities of who he or she could be, because it references Hebrew twice, not to mention that the verb conjugations use a system very similar to the Hebrew one. Therefore the person who made it up probably speaks Hebrew at least a little bit. And I know that most MBers don’t speak Hebrew. Who knows. Maybe I’m just overnanalyzing. (Ani miphareshet yoter midai.)
Slichah, ani lo medaber ivrit. However, I was the one who created the language. Strange that you think its hebrewish. Although I am jewish, I based my language on icelandic, turkish, kyrgyz, and spanish. None of which I speak. But I think it would be easier if you knew who I was. hahaha!
254 – Well, you definitely narrowed down who you could be now. But I can pursue that on the alter ego thread if I want to. But I am curious about something: Is there a mechanism in your language which can develop new words that are related to existing words?
(sorry for doubleposting…)
254 – Oh, I just looked at the alter ego thread and noticed that you had revealed yourself. Now I can compliment you properly: Your language is brilliant, Cliff Eagle!
254–Meh, your language sounds way better than mine. I based it off of etymologies of English words (plus a couple made up words for fun).
Sample: Aya, lare anu taë Nthanda al Aghanuk. Re gisto mazat, mïn, ye rikh abxeno minam.
(Hello, my name is Nthanda the Laugher. I like to make up, speak, and write foreign languages.)

How are words added to Musblog?
Bonjour.
(Please pardon any spelling and grammar errors.)
259- as soon as I have the time I will make a full dictionary. eventually. Maybe on sunday.
In Spanish class yesterday, our teacher had us tell him in Spanish about things that concerned us.
My friend INTENDED to say “Polar bears are dying because of people like (as in similar to) -person-”
But she used the wrong form of like, so that she ended up saying:
“Polar bears are dying because people like (as in, are fond of) -person-“
250) Oh.
260) Wait, did I read this right? In french you learning about history that is very strange, with people working with oysters and cabbages being diamonds? What? Maybe my convertor is messed up. ANyway. It’s good that someone else does french here!
Tu as une classe de francais etrange.
Sorry, Cliff Eagle! We’ve received it but have been too busy to post it so far. We’ll put it up sometime today.
263 – Pretty much. Except choux-fleur means cauliflower not cabbage. C’est très étrange, oui.
Hmmm….Pretty much the only language I can speak other than english is pig latin. Utbay Iay amay oinggay otay artstay Anishspay inay hoolscay isthay earyay.
(I hope I wrote that correctly….)
(264) The revision and Part the Second of Músblog is now posted at the same link.
Wow…That’s incredible.
266) Oh, my bad.
268) What is that?
Well, the school computer I’m non now doesn’t have a convertor, so I’ll try not to make any grammar mistakes……..
J’ai une copain embeter. J’ai aneantissement! Jsut kidding.

SakÅ«co is a language of my own invention. I’m done with verbs, persons, nouns, and conjunctions, as well as persons, tenses, and indirect and direct objects, but I’ve got a ways to go. Still, it’s coming along. Another example:
Toluko ra fÄno shuep
Translation: It is not good to have a lack of plans.
Maybe someday, once I finish the language, I’ll post all the grammar rules so others can learn to speak it. Felkarasho (basically: Goodbye!, literally: Go well!)

Actually, “pamplemousse” means “grapefruit.” (One of my favorite French words.) But you got the rest of it.
282 – Pamplemousse means grapefruit.

Beurk.
290) Bonjour Zallie! Je parle un peu francaise!
Die Geschichte vom Fliegenden Robert.
Wenn der Regen neiderbraust,
Wenn der Sturm das Feld durchsaust,
Bleiben Mädchen oder Buben
Hübsch daheim in ihren Stuben:
Robert aber dachte: Nein!
Das muf drauken herrlich sein!
Und im Felde patscheter
Mit dem Regen schirm umher.
Hui, wie pfeift der Sturm und keucht,
Daf der Baum sich nieder beught!
Seht! den Schirm erfaft der Wind,
Und der Robert flieght geschwind.
Durch die Luft so hoch, so weit;
Niemand hört ihn, wenn er schreit.
An die Wolken stöft er schon,
Und der Hut fliegt auch davon.
Schirm und Robert fliegen dort
Durch die Wolken immerfort.
Und der Hut fliegt weit voran,
Wo der Wind sie hinge tragen,
Ja! das weif kein Mensch zu sagen.
Yes, that was quite a ride.
.291 – Ah, Bonjour.

Re Gilardin ritorna indietro
Dalla sua mamma vò ‘ndà a morire
O tun tun tun, pica a la porta
O mamma mia che mi son morto
O pica pian caro ‘l mio figlio
Che la to dona ‘l g’Ã ‘n picul fante
O madona la mia madona
Cosa vol dire ch’i cantan tanto?
O nuretta, la mia nuretta
I g’fan ‘legria ai soldati
O madona , la mia madona
Disem che moda ho da vestirmi
Vestiti di rosso, vestiti di nero
Che le brunette stanno più bene
O quand l’è stai ‘nt l üs de la chiesa
D’un cirighello si l’Ã incontrato
Bundì bongiur an vui vedovella
O no no no che non son vedovella
g’l fante in cüna e ‘l marito in guera
O tera o tera apriti ‘n quatro
Volio vedere il mio cuor reale
La tua boca la sa di rose
‘nvece la mia la sa di terra.
296) Whoah……. That’s a cool name….. Obenglobish…….
(gurgle, I don’t think that was right.)
293: You understood? Pwnsome! For the others: it’s German. It’s from a children’s book.
297 – Portuguese?.
298 – Mais les traducteurs font beaucoup d’erreurs! Je ne les utilise jamais. J’utiilse un dictionaire!
“Qu’est ce que aime mot francais?”
Quoi?
Zut alors.
300- Nope.
302- Zut! Je sais ton mécontentement.
Ok I’m just going to start talking outloud now.
This is a Latin based language, or contains many aspects of latin. it sounds Italian when spoken, but can’t be. some words seem very familiar: boca, si, terra, ect.
Interesting letters with diacritics include:
ü è à ò
they are all accent grave. (all shown, anyway) french has both acent and grave, spanish has acent only, but neither have an umlaut.
Mediterranean coast.
consult of a map of europe and i think it’s north of greece, south of Hungary and Romania, east of the farthest alps, and probably not on the Italian peninsula.
O madona la mia madona
O lady my lady? Possibly this is a religious song, and this verse refers to the Virgin Mary, or maybe it is a love song to a different lady.
g’fan ‘legria
‘l g’à ‘n
these really confuse me- are the contractions due to the nature of the language, or are they there just because it is being sung? hmmm
Possibly it is a local dialect, or a mix of several.
Like occitan+catalan+french=oc
304- You guessed right. When you said Occitan. The song, is about King Gilard “Re Gilardin” who went out to fight “lu va ‘la guera”. He gets cut up pretty bad- but his mother doesn’t want to tell anyone he is dying. Then his wife comes over and wants to know where Re Gilardin is. Some crazy s*** goes down. I think. Actually- this is fun. Try to post stuff in other languages and make people guess. I now will have to find a new one.
302 – Non, on utilise “Discovering French Noveau Rouge III.”
Don’t say alter-ego alert, please. All that gave away was that I take French, so I’m ~hopefully~ still safe.
Another edition of Cliff Eagle’s Guess that language.

And now, so nobody PoPos me, I will guess CE’s language.
Norwayish? I don’t know what it’s called…. Scandinavian? I know that’s not the same thing, it’s called multiple guessing.
308: It isn’t German, I know that much.
308–Scandanavian language (lots of j’s). Norwegian? Dutch? Or maybe Swedish (probably not)?
Here is my language-to-guess. I’ll post the English translation once someone guesses it, it’s really beautiful.

It looks Slavic to me.
There are no ‘u’s after the ‘q’s, and j can follow n or t. ‘e’ is a single word, as is ‘u’. I don’t recognize any of the word roots, so it’s not closely related to latin. the lack of accents is puzzling me though.
(312, 308) Not Slavic, though it’s from the same general part of the world.
(311) Shepherds and sailors speak this language.
311: That sounds like a good idea! I’ll do it with my German poem so you understand why Robert said, “Yes, that was quite a ride.”
(314, 292) Zinc — I’ll do it for you! The poem is “Flying Robert” by Heinrich Hoffmann. Here’s an English translation I found:
When the rain comes tumbling down
In the country or the town,
All good little girls and boys
Stay at home and mind their toys.
Robert thought; “No, when it pours,
It’s better out of doors.” Rain it did,
And in a minute Bob was in it;
Here you see him, silly fellow,
Underneath his red umbrella!
What a wind! Oh! How it whistles
Through the trees and flowers and thistles!
Oh! It has caught his red umbrella!
Now look at him, silly fellow,
Up he flies to the skies!
No one heard his screams and cries!
Through the clouds the rude wind bore him,
And his hat flew on before him;
And the hat went up so high,
That it really touch’d the sky.
Soon they got to such a height,
They were nearly out of sight.
No one ever yet could tell
Where they stopp’d or where they fell.
Only this one thing is plain,
Bob was never seen again…
315: Hm, in my Gramma’s (a native German) book (one side of the page in English; the other in German) it was different. The ending was something about his hat. That version’s better, though. Mark Twain did mine. My favorite one is the one with the girl in the matches. That made me laugh when I was little.
(316) Mark Twain, eh? *searches* Aha! Here’s his version.
When the rain comes down a-dash,
When the storms the meadows lash,
Boys and girls stay snug at home
Preferring to let others roam;
But Robert thinks, “Ah, me,
It’s just the time outside to be!”
and so, umbrella’d safe and sound,
Takes to the fields and slops around.
My! how shrieks the windy storm,
and how the big tree bows its form!
Hoho! the ‘brella’s caught the breeze,
And Robert sails above the trees!
Above the houses, church and steeple,
and out of sight of all [the] people!
Above the clouds he spins at last,
His hat is gone, and he’s aghast!
And so he sails and sails and sails,
Through banks of murky clouds, and wails,
And weeps and mourns, poor draggled rat,
Because he can’t o’ertake his hat.
Oh, where on high can that hat be?
When you find out, pray come tell me.
317: I like your version better, though. Next time I go over to my Gramma’s, I’ll ask her for one that’s not in the book.
311 is Euskara, or Basque.
(318) Those Heinrich Hoffman poems are strange. They remind me of Edward Gorey, with all those children getting their thumbs snipped off and such.
319–Cliff got it! Basque is one of my favorite languages–it fascinates me how it uses some of the same consonant combinations as South American indigenous languages. Like ixilean–doesn’t that sound Mayan or something?
Anyway, here’s the English translation:
Venus is the first to appear in the sky
the oldest bat is just waking up,
caressing quietly the red roof tiles and gray walls;
the bird from dark places weaves the new night
Here we lay, unable to get out of this castle of ashes,
the night, that giant net, having fallen upon us,
it captivates me underneath, caught in a net of sadness
here I lie, unable to explain what’s happening.
This is a fortress of fears and the palest of grasss
this is a cathedral of tears and hollow men
this is a desert without a yesterday, the shortest tomorrow
here lies the body of what was once a people.
Many flowers are said to grow in the faraway life
but everything that enters this jail has reached the grave
to the border of the gallows of the weaver bats
look closely and see just how we swing.
In the dark I’m writing these verses, under lock and key
pain and suffering comes to visit the veins of my mind.
the guards are in the cell, looking for papers,
come, take these verses and hide them.
Interesting, no?
300) Je suis desole. J’ai probablement dit mal. (*wince* bad grammar)
(I was wondering what your favorite French word was)
306) Gosh. My class is going through that exact same textbook series. Fascinating!
Nobody has guessed my mysterious language- exept Robert- who gave everyone a good hint.
323–Latvian or Estonian?
324- Nope. I should give a hint- in the sentence “Qe Kercejn ore lendinave”- The c in kercejn should really be a Ç- making it Qe kerÇejn ore lendinave”
I can give a rough translation exept for the last verse which would totally give the language away.
We sing for the girls
They are out in the fields
One leads the dance
The others take in her lead (follow?)
They sing for us too,
and they keep dancing
one sings the melody
and the others harmonize
keep dancing, girls
and lift up the dust
We must keep this land safe.
One looks towards the mountains,
while the other is quiet.
320: Hm, that was in the book too. But I wonder, why did the tailor, of all people, cut oof his thumbs? Why not a gardner, or summot?
325–Hmm…I know it’s somewhere in southeastern Europe, a place with mountains, and a place with non-Roman characters…*gets out map* Serbian? Albanian?
New one! Try to guess it.

327- You got it! It is Albanian- one of the coolest languages imho. It belongs to the Illryan family, not the Slavic family- it is the most ancient Balkan language. As for yours- its either African or Asian- I can’t tell- and I’m no great shakes at those languages. Am i close?
J’aime le fromage.
(329) Tu m’étonnes! Je n’avait aucune idée.
330)
328–African. And I can’t believed I guessed it!
Try to guess which dialect now.
Wow. THis thread has been slow. I guess I haven’t been on here is a while. Well, anyway, bonjour!
Joyeux Noel!
Where is everyone?

how embarrassing!
“even though it’s inter vacation, I have to study. Unbelievable!”
338) You’re learning Chinese? Cool! Chinese would seem to be a hard language to learn to me……..
339- Japanese. It says Japanese.
Really? Then I think I know someone’s alter ego! Maybe I’ll keep it to myself…… or maybe not……
I’ve decided I want to be some sort of linguist when I grow up. I’ve always been really fast at learning languages, even though I’ve only taken Spanish and Latin. As well as a linguist, I’ll be a chef, and organist, an astronaut, president…
That’s a lot to live up to. Languages are fun though.
.339 as piggy says it is Japanese, but it is easy to mix up the “principle” asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) if you aren’t used to looking at them. You can tell it’s Korean if there’s a lot of roundness to the characters. It’s Chinese if all of it is complex, compound type characters (it looks more dense than Japanese or Korean). The difference between Japanese and Chinese is that Japanese incorporates kana– two “alphabets” of syllables in addition to using characters derived from Chinese. So when looking at Japanese it is both hard and soft. Korean also uses the Chinese characters to some extent since both Korean and Japanese are to some extent derived from Chinese, but I don’t know much about Korean. I do know how to say “I love you”, albeit with a horrible accent.
I used to never be able to tell apart spoken Chinese from Japanese, from Korean etc, much less tell the written languages apart. It takes a bit of practice, is all.
344- Although I sort of can tell the difference, to an extent, I was referring more to your statement of “my japanese is miserable.” That’s what really gave it away for me.
I’m starting to become a bit fluent in Spanish. Several times recently I’ve been trying to think of a word, but could only think of it in Spanish. I knew how to use it and what it meant and everything, but I couldn’t remember the English word. Then again, I could just be insane…
(I copy-pasted the list above and added some new ones. I only used google translator, like three times.)
English: I’m sorry, I don’t speak English.
Spanish: Lo siento, yo no hablo espanol.
Luganda: Nedda, simanyi oluganda.
Azeri: Bagislayin, men azerbaycanca danisa bilmerem.
Icelandic: Mer pykir pad leitt, eg talla ekki islensku.
Hebrew: Slicha, ani lo medaber ivrit.
Basque: Ez, ez dakit euskara hitz egiten.
Latvian: Man loti zel.
Turkish: Uzugunum, turkce konusamam.
Malagasy: Miala tsiny aho fa tsy nahay miteny Malagasy.
Dinee’Tah (Navaho): Dooda, dineh bizaad doo shil beehozin da.
Catalan: Ho sento, no parlo català .
Vietnamese: Tôi xin lỗi, tôi không nói tiếng Việt
Albanian: Me vjen keq qe, une nuk di Shqip.
Klingon: QoS jLh ylmev jatlh tlhIngan
345) Really? Interesting.
346) Navaho looks funny. Doodah!
347- The fluency part or the insanity part?
345_ oh i’m the same way! sometimes I can think of the prefect way to say something in japanese but it doesn’t sound right in english.
「漢ã€ã¨ã„ã†æ¼¢å—ã¨ï½¢è‹±ã€ã¨ã„ã†æ¼¢å—ã¯ãŠãªã˜ã§ã—ょã†ï¼Ÿã„ã‚„ï¼
The “æ¼¢” character and the “英” character are the same aren’t they? WRONG.
I get confused with all of my kanji…little tiny details make all the difference!
Axa- Have you only been learning kanji, or the other characters as well? I don’t speak Japanese, but I know more about it than most English-speaking people.
348) Both.
I think japanese/chinese/etc. characters are so pretty! I can’t make either heads or tales of it though.

357- Yours would read better as
“353- ¡Ah sÃ! ¡Me encanta el pez de Babel! ((Pescado only refers to cooked fish, or fish that’s being prepared to be cooked.))
354- Yo también. Pues sólo un poco porqué en Español 2. Pero es muy fácil.”
In Spanish, commas aren’t used too much. Oh, and I’m in Honors Spanish III.
355- You mean English is your first language? Mine too.
358- Exactly what are you trying to say? I may be able to help.
¿Hay alguien más quien habla español?

Here’s a little japanese lesson! But first– we’ve learned katakana and hiragana and have ongoing study of kanji.
Katakana is used for foreign names/places and occasionally for emphasis I believe. It’s the simplest of the three alphabets.
if you can see those, each one is a katakana “character”. They are “a” “ka” “sa” “ta” and “na”
Hiragana is more curved and used to complete kanji phrases. This is where it differs from Chinese, which relies totally on “hanzi” (I think that’s what they’re called!). see aggie’s post for what I mean.
ex: ã‚ ã‹ã€€ã•ã€€ãŸã€€ãª
Hiragana for a, ka, sa, ta, and na. An example of hiragana “completing” a phrase: ã“ã®éšã¯å¤§ãã„。
“That fish is big”
ã“ã®=”kono”=that
éš = “sakana” = fish
㯠i= a particle (in this case pronounced as “wa” although it is read as “ha” when not functioning as a particle). Denotes what something is, etc
大ãã„ = “ookii” = big. Notice how the first character is kanji, but the other two are hiragana.
365) I think I see something about middle school and china, but I can’t be sure.
Wowsers! Letters like Chinese, etc. are really pretty. There’s a girl in my former art class from China and the wrote my name in CHinese for me. She also told me how to say, “I am a grapefruit” in chinese. I don’t know how to write it though. It sounds like….. “Wo sh pu tou”
367-
376- Robert- a di shqip? Jo ka shumë mundësi, porsë ajo ishtë vlere e provë.
Wow. Albanian killed the thread again.

Ooh, the battle of the ancient languages. Anyone know Sanskrit? Hebrew? Aramaic?
377) Solum in lingua latina docta sum.
360 – Oh. I didn’t know that. Nuestro clase de Espanol es muy lento. No se mucho vocabulario o gramatica.
378 – I ♥ Latin! But my class ended a while ago, so I’ve forgotten some of it. I plan to reteach myself over the summer.
Actually, I just like correcting people. Es bien.
378- Quid est “docta”?
Je parle francaise! Bonjour! Ca va ma beau amis!
(381) “Amis” is plural, so the phrase should be “mes beaux amis.”
Whoops, I need to correct my correction. It should say “lenta” instead of “lento”. “Clase” is feminine.
371) unfortunately I don’t actually know any chinese, I can just recognize common characters
78) it’s from doctus, which means gelehrt, which means educated (I think- I’m learning latin in an austrian class, so I learn the german translations)
382) My bad.
OKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK. Conversation dwindle-ation.
¡Ay chihuahua! Este hilo está muerto. ¿Por qué no hay nadie aqu
Chihuahua’s are awesome!
389- It’s not necessarily a type of dog. It’s also an exclamation, as in my usage of it, and a state in Mexico. Possibly other things as well. Oh, and you don’t need an apostrophe in “chihuahuas”. Or an inverted comma, or whatever you want to call it. Depends on how British you are feeling.
But really, where did everyone go?
390) Ibi sum. Naja, theoretisch bin ich da. Ich werde versuchen, oft zu kommen. Vous pouvez compter sur moi.
Fromage. J’adore le fromage.
390) I do not know where everyone went. They are somewhere. “Somewhere. Out there. Beneath the pale moon light…..”
¿Hilo nuevo? (New thread?)
380 – Bueno, no me gusta encontrar acentos.
