We liked Lady Bunniful’s Musesicles so much that we’ve revived them for the third installment of this month’s random thread. Continued from Part 2.
(Users’ Manual: Obey The Rules. Consult The Guide. Have fun!)
MuseBlog is being overhauled so that various components will work nicely together and not explode into a chrono-synclastic infundibulum or something. As a result, things may look odd around here for a while. We regret the inconvenience.

Yay! The GAPAS listened!
So, what’s up? What’s new?
Um…
who were “accidentally” paired together.
Ok than, yay!
The Museicles were awesome.
So, everybody is trying to keep cool? It’s very sunny today here.
In the morning I was freezing in bed though I have no idea why.
*random random random*
Soon for the tennis team we are going to have a final singles tournament on Saturday, if you get to be a finalist or you win you get to have a trophy, and for next year if you get on it than you get ranked in the top 5 or something like that (you get ranked on how good you are and than play the kids who are your level during club tournaments).
I’m much better at doubles than singles. For doubles we already had the tournament though we didn’t get to the finals, my partner and I got to the finals, but I think we’ll prolly loose because we’re playing the two best people in the class
Please see this comment.
I don’t think anyone saw that comment. At least, with a blog about a science magazine, you’d think there would be a louder response, louder than nothing.
KaiYves, I hope you’re on, I wanted you to see at least. Did you see it?
Red-tailed HAWK

3- It’s just not that interesting to me. Space+me=sick.
OWOWOWOW!
I just banged my knee REALLY hard on the desk when I came back into the room and now its all bruised and swollen. Curse you, desk!
2-*doesn’t play tennis or understand it at all* Have fun, anyway! I hope you do well.
Wow! *eats more musicles*
What shall we talk about? Bunnies? Muse?[sicles]? or randomly interesting stuff.
3) What comment? *looks around wildly* I don’t see anything about space!
Hmmmmmmm. tennis is OK, but I stink at it. I like badminton!
It was in Part Two:
https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1417#comment-316
Oh, man.
I’m walking about three hours a day in 80-degree heat. *gobbles up Museicles*
9- Than you better get ready, it’s prolly going to get much hotter!
I went SAILING today!!!! *excitement*
It was my first time sailing this year (my family spends part of our summers on Lake Michigan every year and we have a Sunfish), and it was a perfect day for it! The wind was spectacular, though quite shifty. There was a huge wind shift when I was coming in, just a few yard from shore, and as a result I had to do an uncontrolled jibe to avoid hitting an oncoming boat. It was really fun, though! *skips around happily*
10 – Urk… *dies* *revives momentarily* I have a 20-pound load to carry from the dorm to the classroom and back. And I have to do it TWICE on Tuesdays and Thursdays. *dies again*
Ooh, new thread.
3-I think the space staion is pretty awesome. I think it passed over my house once… Mom went out to see it, I forget if I did.
I’m going through all the music I listened to in 2006. Miss Murder, Bad Day, When You Were Young, Dance Dance, Welcome to the Black Parade…
Good times, my friends.
3- Not that particular time, as we’ve been having very cloudy weather lately in my hometown, but I have seen the Space Station before and it IS awesome. There was a flyover durring Earth Hour that my whole family watched.
When You Were Young…
Is that the one by The Killers?
I love that song for some odd reason.
Must go get ice cream.
Me sad. My best friend just left and i have no idea when ill see her again…
15-Yup. I love it too.
16 – Aww.
I have accepted the fact that I am a guaranteed, 100% NERD. I’m at NERD CAMP, for goodness’ sakes!
Anyway… I shall be on the Internet 8 hours a day again on August 8…
Microcontrollers. Tiny computers on a single chip. Coolest thing since the invention of ice cream. They’re the things that work your TV remote and lots of other semi-intelligent stuff. The best thing is, the manufacurers sell cheap(ish) development kits, so you can play around with them without taking out a mortgage.
Hurdy-gurdies. They’re cool.
Paul Baker. Why is he talking like this.
I suspect that he read the name of the thread and decided to talk about random stuff that he considers cool.
Cheese is cool! Chemistry is cool! *chem nerd*
That
makesDOESN’T make sense.24 – Heh, I did the same thing (see post 23).
24- Does it have to? This is the random thread.
Random cool stuff? Uh…banana milkshakes?
I think cheese is good-not the green kind though….
Paul, you’re the best. *hugs* *pies*
You know what’s cool? Light-emitting diodes. Aren’t they experimenting with those to grow plants in space? That’s cool. And random.
I fear for the survival of MuseBlog.
And that wasn’t just random. I really do fear that MB will grind to a halt.
29 – *gasp* What tells you that?
29- Explain!
23) Cheese is not cool. It is hot. RED HOT!
29-Wait… What?
30, 31, 33- [Snip! –Admin.] Haven’t you noticed that there’s only a handful of people left?
34- Why isn’t my comment being moderated? You moderated the one on “World of Piecraft 2” at 8:25.
(33, 31, 29) IBCF is referring to another blog where some MBers and former MBers hang out. We’re aware of several such sites, along with Facebook and LiveJournal pages, but MuseBlog rules forbid posting any information about personal websites. In any case, we haven’t noticed any slackening of activity that we could attribute to other sites. My impression is that things have been pretty lively here, and neophytes keep coming. I’m not worried.
(34) Because you were breaking the rules, IBCF. Snipping takes longer than zapping. Everything has been moderated now.
36- Whoops. Sorry.
But look at all the people that have posted recently on the other blog. When’s the last time they posted here?
People move on, IBCF. They get tired of our rules, and they want to spend their time with older kids — and without younger ones around. It’s a natural process, and you have to let it happen. There’s no point in being afraid of change; in the universe and the Musiverse alike, change is just about the only thing that doesn’t change.
Meanwhile, as I say, MuseBlog is doing fine.
36- we’ve had one ‘phyte all month.
They tend to come in waves. Did the magazine mention us in the July/August issue? I don’t think so.
Some old MBers feel the blog is too busy, and like to post on places where there aren’t as many posts they have too keep track of. It’s hard to keep up with MuseBlog, so some people who liked the slower blog post somewhere else.
ROBERT’S BEST joke ever:
Q. How many MuseBloggers does it take to change a lightbulb?
A. Thirteen:
One to bring a ladder, stand on the bottom rung, and yell, “This lightbulb is dead!â€
One to make a Stupid Senseless Smiley Story about lightbulbs that turn into hot-pink bunnies.
One to insist that the blog should install a compact fluorescent bulb to reduce its carbon footprint.
One to say that that’s not necessary, because global warming is a hoax.
One to wonder whether she should ask for a new lightbulb or sit still and smile at one until it notices her.
One to post the 10,000-word opening chapter of a saga about the quest for the legendary Lightbulb of Doom.
One to arrive with a new lightbulb, climb the ladder, unscrew the old bulb, screw in the new one, descend, and leave.
One to dash up the ladder, touch the new bulb, and yell, “FIRST TOUCH!!!â€
One to point out that that touch was pointless.
Three to splatter the new lightbulb with welcome pies.
And, finally, a GAPA to log in an hour later and moderate the change so the light can come on.
(42) Yes, and they’ve asked us to help them attract MBers — but not all of them, just the ones they choose. They have a history of being mean to newcomers they don’t like. That kind of snobbishness is contrary to the spirit of MB, and we don’t want anyone to be mistreated. So I’m going to stop talking about other Musers’ sites soon and return to our policy of snipping or zapping all references to them.
Meanwhile, we’re not worried. If MuseBlog ever outlives its usefulness and everyone goes away, we’ll just take that as a sign to look for other ways to entertain, amuse, provoke, and foster the cause of world domination.
I am strictly in the “moderate” camp when it comes to this issue. I realize that it would be a bad thing for everyone if MB degenerated into a bunch of stupid fart jokes and smiley armies, but what’s the harm in a little silly fun?
We’re all *Tries to dodge pies, but miss*…
40- I’m not worried about the change. I just don’t like the kind of things I see around there. I’d never want to be part of it.
And when all the oldbies leave, who will I have intelligent conversations with? (Not that I’ve ever have intelligent conversations, but hey, maybe I’ll want to someday).
43- You know, that sums up the essence of MB, both good and bad, more concisely than any long-winded scholarly essay.
45- POSOC! Report to the Museica Thread! The Election is starting soon!
44, 47- Oops. Didn’t see your post. I’ll stop talking about it.
44- Really? In the famous words of the Bulldog, “I object to that remark very strongly.”
(47) As the “oldbies” leave, the new oldbies continue having intelligent conversations. We’re all Musers here. You can’t stop us from talking.
(48) A bit like “Three rings for Elven-kings under the sky,” wouldn’t you say?
HER YEH, HER YEH:

Please Vote on https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1401
48- I know, thats why I posted it.
52- Speaking of “oldbies”, where’s roseanna? I haven’t seen here for a while.
I like the other blogs simply because it gives me an opportunity to converse with many of my friends who have left the blog. The snobbishness, however, is something I have to deal with in exchange with talking to them. (GAPAs, snip this if it falls under the category of referencing outside contact.)
TMFA- That’s my favorite joke EVER. I have it taped to the door of my room!
Eh, whatever. Sure, I miss some of the people who aren’t here anymore, but if they want to be that way, then let them be that way. I haven’t noticed any slacking-off of posts, or indeed, any slowing down.
I love my kitten.
I love Dickens.
Maybe I should call my kitten Dickens!
Or not.
Cool stuff:
Ankle boots.
The color blue.
Bicycles.
Romanian haystacks.
Honeycomb.
My dad’s kayak.
The color green.
I like to ride my blue bike while wearing my blue ankle boots. Or kayak in my dad’s green kayak and then go eat honeycomb while making Romanian haystacks.
Wow, I love the internet. I can act cheerful when I’m really despondent…
55- Any chance of an 9th MuseCast? I might just make one my self.
(54) Rosanne has been working very hard this month and hasn’t had time to visit the blog very much. She was last sighted on July 18 working a shift at the Hare & Hedgepig.
She says she misses us and that she’ll be back as soon as things calm down a little. Meanwhile, she and I poke each other on Facebook at least once a day just to make sure the other one is alive.
(56) And I love being in a place where 14-year-olds can use words like “despondent” without feeling self-conscious.
58- Oh, Good.
Can we have a new Thread for The Kokonspiracy?
58- What, should I feel self-conscious using the word “despondent” in other places?
(60) Believe me, there are places where they’d make you self-conscious if your vocabulary got too fancy (and where a perfectly ordinary, serviceable word like “despondent” would qualify as fancy).
(59) A new Kokonspiracy thread? I don’t see why not, if the old one is old enough and long enough.
Why do you close old threads and then open the new one?
Instead of leaving the old ones open, you mean? Or instead of opening the new thread first?
If it’s the latter question, I usually need to copy and paste some information from the old thread into the new one. While I still have the old thread on my monitor, I close the “comments” box. That’s why it shuts down before I create the new thread.
(58, 60) And I like being in a place where we don’t have to dumb down our vocabulary either.
(62, 63) I used to do it the other way around, but it’s easier to combine operations.
63- ah.
(64, 60, 58) Remember summer jobs during college? It was like having to switch to baby talk. I was always relieved when school started again.
I’ve been in some situations where I used a word and the person just looked at me like I just spoke a foreign language.
It’s much nicer here!
(66) College itself was bad enough in my case, or at least a good portion of it. And plenty of places where I worked in later years people would give me the look Purple Panda refers to in comment 67.
(68) Yes, you learn what you can get away with. You practice disglamour. And then, one day, the Kokonspiracy finds you.
69- I can’t believe you remembered disglamour! I only knew about it from lurking on Penty’s RRR compilation!
Oh, we GAPAs remember a lot of things that happen here — good ideas in particular.
Phoenix introduced “disglamours” in an RRR on March 12, 2006. I’ve added a link in comment 69.
Can someone link to have a pie?
(69) And nothing is ever the same again….
(70) Robert was an early adopter.
(72) Here’s one.
disglamour is invisibility like?
As Phoenix explained it, it’s more like being so completely uninteresting that nobody notices you or can focus attention on you.
75- So, just being out of it?
(76) More like camouflage.
Good night.
Potter Puppet Pals are funny!!!
XD XD XD XD XD
78- G’night.
79- Wonderful.
*sigh* *goes to bed*
God I’ve been gone for ages. I’ll make a long post about what has happened. Hmm later though. I have a dinner party that needs my presence to grace it :L lol
71) Something I’ve been meaning to ask; since the GAPAs (being also all powerful and omniscient) approve all the posts, do you notice changes in our ways of expressing ourselves? I mean I notice changes in how people, er, type and I don’t read every thread and every post, which is essentially what you guys have to do.
Oh speaking of which I just realized I’ve been lurking here for three years. That’s so cool. Well I missed it by a couple days, but there you go.
whoops that’s three years next month this time. ah well, what is a month in the scheme of things.
(82) Yes, if people post over long enough periods of time, we do become aware of changes in style that go beyond the obvious (reduction in squeeing, etc.).
Happy third bloggiversary!
I have to go to the EYE DOCTOR! *panics* I don’t want to get those little drops in my eyes that make them all squinty! Help! It’s too early to have my eyes poked out! *falls to the floor dramatically*
Gooooooooooooood morning everyone!
Tis a loverly day!
Loverly, loverly, loverly………
85) Don’t fret! Besides, look on the bright side, you get to wear those awesomely awesome shade things once you get out!
Hmmmmmmm. Every time I go to the eye doctor, I seem to get new glasses. This change also is pleasant, because the world always seems so much more clear after that, as if I’ve been living in a world of mist for the past year………..
Changes in style. Interesting question, Axa! And happy almost-third bloggiversary!!
I haven’t really noticed many changes in style, though that’s probably because I’ve changed along with everyone else. *ponders*
28- Actually, I think that was what light emitting diodes were developed for, the Earthbound uses came later.
86- I got new glasses today, plus new contacts, AND the awesomely awesome shades! That wasn’t so bad, considering I got eye drops today.
My dog ran off today. We still haven’t found her. We called the police and left a note on the front door of a lady who’s rumoured to have her. Now we can only wait.
that clock’s ticking is making my headache worse. ticktockticktock.
(90) Good luck, Vixen! I do hope you find her soon.
5 days till my two-year blog anniversary!
90- Oh no! I hope you find her okay.

Just thought I’d say that I’m still here, I’m just a lurker right now.
19- Oops. Do you think that bank will let me get rid of my mortgage then?
90- I hope you find her soon.
Last day of school tommorrow! Ahh! Goodbye time.
My gerbil Kokopelli (Koko for short) got its leg stuck in the cage and broke it in 2+ places so it has to have it amputated today. I’m wishing it luck! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
89- I was supposed to get a contact in only my left eye. I never did though, for some reason. Eh, I can still see well enough if I keep both eyes open…
96: Oh no! I’m wishing it luck too *luckluckluck*
90) I hope you find you doggie! I’m sure it’ll turn up!
95) Last day of school?! WOW! Your school is late! I’ve been out of school for 2 months now! And I have about a month left. *sigh* Life is good!
96) Oh NO!
Poor little guy! I hope everything goes OK!
Wow. I did the unspeakable. I finally took the Christmas bags out of my room. I guess I waited long enough didn’t I?
23 days till school starts.
99- I live in Enlgand. Well, I do for 5 more days. We have five weeks holiday in the summer.
For 5 more days? Are you moving or something?
102- Yup.
When I woke this morning, I found a scrawled note on my nightstand in a close approximation of my handwriting. This is what it said:
At four past one this morning, a third of the way through Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, it struck me that [prohibited by blog policy] may be right: pie-throwing, while a time-honored tradition, is perhaps a little bland and stale. [obligatory yuk-yuk] It has become *shudders* a convention, and what is less Muserly than being conventional? I’m not saying we give it up entirely, but why continue to stick with pies? or indeed, throwing them? Hacky-sacking puddings… *drops pencil* *swears* does have a certain appeal…
Note: As we all know, the wee hours of the morning often serve to augment insanity. I’ll probably regret writing this by eight o’clock. However, I will post it in the interest of your amusement, etc. Out of space, sry!
Weird, huh?
I can’t speak for anyone else, but personally, I find pie-throwing infinitely rich, meaningful, and expressive.
104- who doesn’t like pie throwing?
105- Remember, this was written at one AM.
105- Seconded.
103- Oh that’s not fair.
dog is still not found.
104- Wow, I’ve done stuff like that…
I thought you already read JS&MN.
Hm, as to your point, I dunno. -has no comment-
Any word on where the next Kokonvention is going to be? It would be so incredibly handy if I could go, because I got a great idea.
There are lots of Muse magazines sitting underneath my dresser. Hundreds. Scads of the things. Seriously. I’ve been wondering how I was going to get rid of them without throwing them away (I don’t need them anymore but it would be such a waste to bin or recycle them), but yesterday I came up with a cunning plan. If I was to go to the next Kokon, I could have a booth where I spread all the Muses and various parts of them out in front of me, then anyone who wants can come by and look through and pay like a dollar for each one or something similar. I believe this is a great idea, as it would rid me of the Muses and bring enlightenment and antique issues of Muse to others.
90- Yes, I hope you find your dog.
104- Well, I like pie-throwing! It never gets old.
111- I have them all since april 2005. I’ve been keeping them in a large bookshelf unit.
I start school in a month and a half, geez!
111- Well, who ever gets there before you is lucky. any one who is late, is unlucky.
110- Yes, I have, but it’s the sort of book one really ought to own, and if one sees a nearly-new 1000 page book on sale for 4 bucks, one’s going to buy it.
133 – I have school tomorrow. I dunno what we’re doing, but it should be fun, our teacher rocks.
Meh. I should do homework right now, but I’m not…
Gah, I meant to direct that to post 113…
115- I really should read it.
(related to post 96)- Amputation successful (<- is that spelling right?) Koko is alive and well, a little drowsy from the anesthesia but otherwise O.K.! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
I am currently enjoying one of my last days of freedom this summer. Band camp will be starting soon.
119- Yay for Koko! *virtual snuggle*
Continuing post 2- We won! Ok, we might not have actually played them, we just won by default
but any way, never mind.
84) Haha, less squeeing…
And thanks, Robert and Panda! And yeah, there are some people who were just always levelheaded and not prone to fits of uh, fancy, like myself. Or something like that. Some people including you, by the way.
A new high school is going up and they’re taking suggestions for mascots and colors and whatnot…considering sending in a suggestions for the (town name) High School Kokopellis, or perhaps tenrecs…don’t know how well that’d go over. It’s mostly harmless though, really.
My microwave is broken and there’s nothing in my house but POPCORN. How ironic.
WHOA. I just realized I missed like, ten comments earlier. I hope you find your dog, Vixen!
And hullo to Zoe!
I’m attempting to make a dress for the Lughnasa Festival. I hope I can. If I can’t, I can just wear the one I’m wearing now, which is faintly Victorian and rather floral (though not bad, as florals go). The zipper broke a while ago, and I wanted to wear it today, so I just had my mother stitch it up after I put it on. Not sure how I’m going to get out of it tonight…
So I got a cookbook today, and the kitchen is now my Domain. I made a really yummy soup earlier.
So, remember the horrible landlady that came to stay a while ago, the one who talks to much and makes a mess and acts s though we’re all best friends when I really can’t stand her? The one who only comes to visit once a year?
Well, she’s coming back.
Tonight.
For a week.
And guess why she’s coming?
For the wedding of the previous tenants.
-dies- I’ll have to move to Pennsylvania when I grow up, just to be far enough away… -dies again-
Sorry for not posting today. I made an iSupport video.
Anyway…
I read up at the top of this thread someone said that there would be no intellegent conversation when all the “oldbies” left… I consider many people who are “newbies” to me to be quite capable of intellegent conversation. I remember when IBCF and Beatlersrockr and a couple other people came, and I find them quite intellegent. People need to remember that they were newbies once. Newbies don’t get sstupider, mostly everyone is kinda foolish when they first start posting. My first post was about the cha cha slide.
Wow! i just had an awesome evening! My Mom went out with her friends tonight, so my Dad,, sister, and I were left on our own.
Who’d have thought it? Our little town? Getting a Japanese Steak house? Anyway, it was amazing to watch the guy to cook it before our very eyes!
Anyway, it was very fun, the most fun I’ve had in several weeks.
My Dad got all secretive and told my sister and I to dress up. THen he took us out in the car and drove us to the newest addition to our town, a Japanese Steakhouse. hee hee
Then, our Dad took us to McDonalds and got us all a sundae. Yum. After that, I thought we were going home, but Dad left town and started driving on the interstate. Before we knew it, we were at the Grahm Cinema, the most awesome cinema ever!
The Grahm Cinema is the ultimate 2 dollar theatre. 2 dollars to get in, 2 dollars for popcorm, and 2 dollars for drinks. Plus, you get free refills for everything. It is a one room cinema and is extremely old. Many of the chairs are on their last legs, especially the ones in the balcony. Billy Bob, the owner, obviously had the arm rests/cupholders made himself. I’d have to say that going there to see the movies is only half of it. The atmosphere is most of the thing. Because every one goes there, there is always someone there that you know. Tis simply an awesome place!
Hello, I am still alive, despite not being on for a few days…..the phone line decided to be evil again, and I was forced to colply to it’s tempermental whimsy. Grr.
Anyway, this is the last post from me for over a week, I’ll be in Vermont, at a living history event.
So, when I returen there shall be numerous stories, no doubt.
Hey, today we saw a large cat. As in, WILD large cat. A cougar, bobcat, or something. Anyway, we (or I at least) was glad to be in the car…..
Pies. peace and HPBs!
84- hey that means mine is approaching too! Have I changed? since the blog started? since Dec. 2003 or so when I first posted on the Gaboomba? Oh dear it’ll have been FIVE years soon. I know I’ve changed in the outside blog world. I was in eighth grade then and I’m entering my first year of college.
I’m very, very, very happy…
Today is a happy, smiley, sunshiney day, and I love life!
*rants on about the joys of being alive while frolicking through a field of flowers*
Sorry I had to do that, but it’s just such a beautiful day! And I got my first birthday present! and it’s a BRAND NEW LAPTOP!
Now I can come onto Museblog whenever I wants! *hugs random strangers*
(129) I think you’ve changed a lot, oxlin. You were very shy. Not now!
Dog still not found. I have been hanging posters up all day, in an acursed heat wave.
Urgh, I feel sick to my stomach.
What is it with MB right now? are there a back log of comments from last night, or what? Why is it so slow?
I have now invented exclamation points (sort of like piepoints) if you want any just ask me I’ll make more! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
(133) No backlog. Mornings are slow more often than not.
135- hmm.
Potter puppet pals are awesome!!!!
I won’t be on all weekend. I’ve got a soccer tournament across the state, and it’s almost certain that I won’t have Internet.
Good luck! Play hard, and don’t get hurt!
138- good luck!
134- I’m sure that if you went over all the posts you’d ever made, you’d be able to collect enough exclamation points to satisfy a regiment.
Bye, Meow! -waves- No kokonvention, then, I guess…
I’m making a gloomy(er) playlist, taking out all the slow, sad, songs (or the cheerfully sad ones) and compiling them so that I have something to listen to in my depression.
I’m leaving for science camp tomorrow, so I’m not entirely sure if I’ll be able to post at all next week. I can’t wait though! I’ve never been to camp before! I wonder if I’ll meet any musers…
134- Um, could we just keep it to pie points and spkdz points? Because I tried making “Beats” and somebody had told me the same thing, so it’s not all that, you know, fair-ish-ish tiny bit… Never mind, go ahead. I don’t mind.
129) Wow! My msister is entering colladge this year top. Gosh. I’m going to miss seeing her everyday.
Now my parents will we focusing on me all the time. What in the world will I DO?!!! *dies* Being an only child must be AWEFUL!
EEP!
Oooooooooooooo! Guess what I did this morning! My Dad, sister, and I went blue berry picking! (our town’s nearby berry farm had a half price day) We picked 2 and half GALLONS of blueberries and they only cost 20 dollars! Yum! We immediately came home, bagged up most of the berries for freezing and then we made a blue berry pie! Yummylicious!
Hello peoples. I actually got up at a time earlier than five (p.m.) today. I feel acomplished.
Yesterday I made an “iSupport” slide show video response for Matthew Lush.
Well!
So, Meow was going to maybe come down here after her soccer thing, and we’d have a kokon. But there was a possibility that I had an art camp thing that week, and all my attempts to contact S—–, who’d asked if I would help, failed. So Meow left and our plans came to nothing, and then I get a message from S—- saying she doesn’t need me after all.

NOT A GOOD WEEKEND.
I first posted on MuseBlog in eighth grade, too. Have I changed much, GAPAs? Socially, I think I’ve become more shy since then, but I have no idea virtually. I’m know I’m much happier now, though. I didn’t have any real friends at my elementary/middle school, but now I have lots of MuseBlog friends and some at school, too.
(131) Looking back at the Gaboomba, I must say I see no trace of the shyness I seemed to remember. Maybe oxlin really hasn’t changed so much over the past four-and-a-half years.
As for Purple Panda, I think I’d list her as another relatively stable virtual presence. I’m glad to hear that you’re happier than you were, though. May the trend continue!
As long as we’re talking about this, have I been here long enough for you to notice a change?
(129, 148, 150) I’d say all three of you seem more relaxed with yourselves and others, more open to nuance, more willing to venture into unknown territory, to take chances, and to tolerate less-than-perfect realities. Those are all qualities that should serve you well.
What about me!
(151) You, too, TMFA.
I don’t want to single out personalities any more than that, but I’ll just add that it is quite moving to see all of you mature and develop new resources of steadiness and grace, all the while retaining your lovely silliness.
-153 me?
137- This is very true. “Snape, Snape, Severus Snape
)
DUMBLEDORE!
Ron, Ron, Ron Wealey, DUMBLEDORE!
Hermione! Hermione! Hermione, Hermione, Hermione! HARRY POTTER, HARRY POTTER(oooh!) Harry Potter, Happry Potter(that’s me!)
Snape!
Harry!
Snape!
Harry! DUMBLEDORE! hurrrrrrrrmione!”
(sorry, i just had to do that…
I was a rather hyperactive person back in eighth grade so in RL I’ve become much shyer.
153 – Me? I think I’m less of an idiot now.
157- You really are. Let me see if I can find the post that’s makes you seem crazy…
I can’t.
156-same! freshman year was kind of the year i grew up i guess…i mean before 8th grade i’d always been pretty shy, and during 8th grade i was just having fun being an obnoxious middle schooler
I have returned again… I tend to pop in and out of here, don’t I?
Anyways, first, so I appear to be on topic
159 – Same, actually… In 6th and 7th grade I was a strange kid. Still am, matter of fact. I’d be a lot worse–more shy, strange, unrelatable, but my friends were amazing. Still are. Anyway, 9th grade made me less shy and less obnoxious… I hope.
And now the main reason I got back on here. A few issues back, the whole mag was on RED. Including an almost reprint of the cochineal thing from longer back. But they didn’t completely reprint it, and I’m glad. Reprinting bugs me. Unless it’s from back when I didn’t know about MUSE. So. Throughout the issue, the letters r, e, and d were highlighted… until the Muse Mail and Last Page, when other, mostly random letters were highlighted too. I wondered what they were, wrote them down, and forgot about them. Now, searching on wikipedia for ciphers, for no particular reason, find this:
Similar looking? you bet. Later on you find a Python program useful to decrypt the message, which ought to read “JACKIEFISHERWHOAREYOUDREADNOUGHT”, but does not.
Anywhoo, I think I shall try this program on our very own muse cipher-slash-random letter emphasis case. The letters in question? “Urat,andeinpositionMyteureaboowiningacGreebaboutteverythingelse.guysareactuallytrite,Itosaytmaga-sehme?Ired”
*Later, after fixing a bug in the Python program, (without knowing Python. I’m impressed with myself)* So… it appears that if our muse highlighting conundrum is indeed a cipher, it isn’t this type. Oh well. I still thought it was worth sharing
160- when were you on last?
(161) Ankher last posted back in September under the name B. Cavefish.
Ahh.
I swear my dog is the funniest thing you’d come across in my boring town. Or my boring county for that matter.
Night, anyway.
Night, no ones on.
Ah, I had a wonderful night.
I was sitting around doing nothing when who should call but H— and E—! And they said, “Hey, do you wanna go bowling?” And I said, “No, I’m kitten-sitting.” And E—- replied, “Kittens don’t spontaneously combust unless you leave them alone for more than six hours, and we’ll only be bowling for three.” Or something very like. And then Eva showed up to get her kitten and she said she had been invited too, so we walked down and bowled for three hours. And then E—- walked Eva and I home, and we had a rather disjointed mumbly conversation, on account of it being midnight-thirty. And now here I am. And now I’m going to go to bed.
Oh my, talking about how people have changed over time. If you look at my old posts, you want to vomit. At least I do. Its nauseating.
Does anyone remember me from when I was still The Pink Stalking Penguin of Penzance? or *gasp* Yay4HotPinkBunnies?
My I feel old. I think I will go get a blue rinse or something. Maybe go check out rest homes
Oh yeah, My grandma died.
Good morning meveryone! I’m off to the zoo!
See ya!
158 – Oh, ha, ha.

167 – I’m so sorry!
WE’RE GOING TO NAVY PIER TODAY AT 12:30, SO I WILL BE ON FROM 9:00 TO 11:30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Check for Tenrecs! There’s a new exhibit at the Bronx Zoo all about Madagascar, and I was so excited, because I thought “Who could compile a whole building of Madagascarian creatures without tenrecs?”
Well, the Bronx Zoo can.
So….that means a trip to the field!
170 – The field? As in Madagascar itself?
169- I LOVE Navy Pier! I went there for a school trip this year and had an awesome time! The Ferris Wheel is the first one that I’ve ever ridden in my life, so I had a lot of fun there. It’s a blast. Have you ever been before?
172 – I think I’ve been there, but it was a while ago; I hardly remember it. Do you live in the Chicago area? …Kokon?
If I’ve changed online, I think it’s in the direction of being more of an asshole. Real life, I dunno.
174 – Don’t swear.
Monty Python’s Argument Clinic is very funny.
Me, well, no one knows me. I stopped subscribing more then a year ago…? And re-found MuseBlog a few months ago. I was AvalonGirl (I think…) in the beginning.
Has anyone noticed that male waiters always know the series you’re reading? Happens to me! Maybe because at restaurants, I’m either reading or playing DS Lite…
Does anyone live in Florida? Orlando, Florida?
172- How do you get those peace signs on your name?! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
the peace signs aren’t too hard…
Then how do you do them?!?!
I found some really cool space music at this de-linkified link:
prometheus- music. com/space. html
I’m going out with some friends from school for, like, the first time this summer without Clarissa. Anyway. I’m off to post on some other threads.
re: MB shrinking. I’m still here. And even if people are communicating in other ways it is usually for other purposes. MG and I talk all the time but we’ve become really close friends and if we tried to talk somewhere where we weren’t the only two we’d be a bit stifled. I do find MB rather large at times especially compared to the way it used to be. A large MB isn’t a bad thing though, just different. It does lead to there being different needs and other things cropping up to suit those but that doesn’t mean MB is going to be gone anytime soon.
55- eugh, yeah snobbiness. Really. All methods of communication have a purpose and if you don’t find that one suits you you don’t need to be nasty to others!
43- hooray!
(conversation about diluting one’s vocabulary)- Is it that way in college? Can I use whatever words I want there? I hope I enjoy it there. I’m leaving fairly soon and I’m both nervous and excited.
71- I miss Phoenix.
I feel I can stand up for myself better here. I know what I believe and I can stand for it.
Brain riddle
A thing that absorbs sunlight
to keep itself upright.
Eats water, soil, and fertilizer,
Only gardners are wiser.
Here’s a picture- ——l-(@
179- See this thread:
https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1427
(183) Depends on the college, but I’m sure yours will be fine. Even my underachieving college had a lunatic fringe, it just took me several years to find it. In the meantime, there were some great professors who kept my mind (and vocabulary) alive.
i saw life of brian at the ohio theater last night. it was an 11 pm show which is basically a less-cool midnight show. dan almost fell asleep at one point, but then he’d been visiting colleges all day.
in other news band camp starts tomorrow.
and they replaced paintball with a guitar hero tournament. woo, what fun </sarcasm>
but really, paintball for guitar hero‽‽‽‽‽ come on!
186- Robert didn’t pass along what college I’ll be attending to you? I sent it to the gapa email address a while ago.
(188) I saw it. That’s why I said I’m sure yours will be fine.
We had a final singles tournament today in tennis. I of course did not win. For the first round I was playing the best person in the class. *grumbles* Ah well.
Speaking of tennis, (or something like that) my best friend’s big brother is on the team. And he keeps staring at me. It’s creepy. Really creepy.
189- ah okay. somehow I got the feeling that you didn’t know.
(191) And I should add my congratulations! I’m sure you’re going to have a great time. From what I can see, you’re a lot more prepared — not to mention more mature — than I was when I started college.
OMG!

The zoo is SO COOL!
I love the zoo! I love everything about the zoo! (except for the overly priced cheeseburgers, but that’s irrelevant)
I loved the puffins and the gorillas! OK, my family and I were watching the 2 female gorillas and, suddenly, the male lumbered out of the bushes. He walked right up to the glass, right where I was standing and sat down, leaning his back against the glass. I less then a foot away from me. I could have reached out and poked him, not that I would have if I could have……. What was even more funny is that he knew that he was the center of attention. He dutifully ignored us though, until the man beside me went to take a picture of one of the other gorillas. The male suddenly turned his head and looked at him from over his shoulder with a look that read “What do you think your doing?” It was just so COOL!
SLEEP. I want sleep. I got up at an unholy hour (at least for someone who stayed up till 1 AM) and then went down to the Lughnasa Festival. I’ve been more or less always on my feet for the past seven hours, and a lot of that was dancing.
-is exhausted-
And now I’m going to climb the Hill of DOOM (aka my town–I swear it has no flat places) to go to a surprise party at some hall that is probably many miles away, with the incline making it impossible for me to ride my bike. That, and the floor-length dress that I can’t get out of until someone takes pity on me and cuts open the stitched-up back.
I want my hairbrush…
(193) Did you spend time in the aviary? That’s one of my favorite spots.
195- Especially in the winter, when there aren’t that many people at the zoo, and it’s just you alone in the huge, warm, rooms with the brightly colored, squawking ones.
I love zoos. ♥
(196) Once, when I went to the N. C. Zoo in December, the person who went with me and I were the only two visitors. It was such an amazing sense of being, I don’t know how else to describe it.
Zoo-I like going to the zoo. My school’s Latin club goes to the art museum and zoo in Cleveland every year. (our school isn’t in Cleveland though)
College-I hope to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. It’s supported by Cessna and a lot of major airlines. (GAPAs-there’s one in Florida and one in Arizona. Since I’m not saying which one please don’t snip it!)(and I might not even go there)
A local group is putting on a Civil War reenactment today. My dad and I thought it was funny that we were driving and there was a sign that said “Civil War —>”
“Hey dad, can we go to the Civil War?”
Ohhh yeah I was driving really fast on normal roads for the first time today and it was scarryyyy!!! But fun too.
193) Oh yes! I loved the flamingoes at the entrance and I spotted a very pretty bird, a Sunbittern I do believe! I loved the plants there as well! They were so beautiful! Of course, I’m a plant freak.
The hummingbird was amazing! She was looking for nesting materials, so she was flying all over her area like crazy! Once she perched right by us. whenever she tilted her head to the light, it flashed a shade of pink! She was so lovely!
From the beginning!
39- *feels guilty*
42- Agreed.
84/87ish and thereafter- I reread old comments I made (two years ago?! holy s- I mean, asterisks-, I’m practically old here!) and wince. Changes in style are rather obvious in my writing, then, I assume. Changes in style over the past two years are rather obvious in my appearance, too, and what I say, how I say it, what else I do…I try to make life interesting for those around me. I notice changes in others, but accept them, as they’re usually for the better. I tend to assume that they’re because I didn’t know that person before well enough to know that the trait was a part of them but now I do.
Here is where I would add a paragraph or so about how I have changed irl/online, but I won’t. I want to, but it would be indulging certain self-centered/narcissistic/introspective tendencies.
184- First I just looked at the picture and thought it was a person holding a very long sword. Then I considered that maybe this isn’t NetHack and thought it was a…anyway, never mind, upon reading the poem it’s a rose. pretty, shiny.
I just got back from band camp today! Much fun was had by all involved except possibly my parents who drove me an hour away, carried some suitcases up/down stairs, and sat through a 3.5 hour concert for the 45 min. involving me. We rehearse six or seven hours a day all week, do activities at night (example of their activity: Casino Night, where we play card games. Example of my activity: read Cryptonomicon by flashlight in bed after midnight [that last bit seems very “Attack of the Prepositional Phrases (from SPACE)” but I don’t know how else to word it]), and that’s basically life. I wish life were always like that, except maybe with some time spent learning how to use audio-related electronics, and adding some contact with friends not there.
But now I must return to Real Life, where I am required to outline a book and write an essay in the next two weeks before marching band camp and the impending due date.
Also I need to make audio drivers work again in compy, get a program to actually sync with my iPod, adding the songs I want properly ID3 tagged and in album order, and maybe get the Windows partition to mount if I’m lucky. Ah, the joys of kubuntu.
184-Flower.
198- I’m assuming you want to become a pilot?
200- So, would you suggest Ubuntu, or Kubuntu? I’m interested in trying a Linux distribution. I’m only good with Windows ,right now though.
Ubuntu’s pretty much the same as kubuntu. What makes them different is that kubuntu uses KDE instead of ubuntu’s GNOME. That means that things look different. KDE is supposedly more customizable than GNOME but I haven’t strayed from default settings yet. The default programs are a little different, but they do the same things, and you can always install programs from ubuntu in kubuntu and vice versa. I chose kubuntu instead of ubuntu because it’s what penguini runs and it’s easier to get help from someone when you don’t have to change commands just slightly to make them work. Ubuntu/Kubuntu is very user-friendly, I’ve heard online that it’s the best for inexperienced users.
I’ve only ever had experience with Windows before, but things seem to be going smoothly overall, which is to say that it could be much worse. I’m having trouble moving my XP things to the new hard drive, but I don’t think that’s kubuntu’s fault. I have problems running a few programs, but I expect to learn more and be able to fix that. They aren’t necessary programs, or default ones. I haven’t had problems with drivers (excepting the audio thing- I installed some updates and then it worked. I don’t know why.) – everything works with my ThinkPad laptop except the middle click button sometimes, and I didn’t expect that to do what it used to since it didn’t even always work right in Windows (where right=holding it down+ mouse directions to scroll). You should be okay. If you have to repartition an old hard drive to add it, though, there are all other sorts of things you should look up about partitions and defragmenting first. Back up everything and have a second computer with internet access, but you should be fine.
As mentioned before, penguini is who I ask about Linux things. I’ll mention this to her and see if she has anything to add/disagree with.
200- I’d read your paragraph of introspection. I’m curious.
My dad installed Linux of some sort to his work computer.
-has nothing to say about current conversations-
-wanders off-
By the way, the party wasn’t fun. But then I went and soaked up theater knowledge from H—— and E——, and that was fun.
Hi Dodecahedron! -pies-
Re: College: I dunno, I might want to do some theater-type thing. Or something.
It used to go on forever if you didn’t cut it off with a period, and now it still cuts off at the first period, unless that comes after a certain number of words or something.
Bear in mind that it is midnight and I am staying awake only for my hair brush, and about to give up that as well.
Because it was SO hot, Laura actually convinced me to jump in the pool.
And my hair curled.
And DRIED.
And I looked like a drag queen, it was so horrid. Imagine hurly hair shaped like a couissont (okay so I can’t spell in French) (or English for that matter) on top of someone’s head who’s wearing baggy swim trunks that look like a long skirt and a white shirt over that all. UGH.
Anyway. I’m going to sleep now goodbye.
Hi! I’m just popping on to say that I won’t be on much until November, as we’re travelling around Europe before we move. The computer is being packed today. I’ll be on a bit, but not much
Ahhhhhhhhhh. Such a loverly morning! Isn’t it weird when you have a dream that your awake? And then you wake up and wonder what in the world is going on?
(206) Alice – People were complaining about endless excerpts in the comment bar, so we decided to cut them off after 25 words. This system will also limit the damage if somebody leaves a period out of a spoiler warning.
(208) Have fun, Cinnamoon! We hope to hear some good stories when you return.
Ok, thanks Dodecahedron!
Yes, Have fun Cinnamoon! If you’re in liverpool September 5-7, I got an email from Artichoke, the company that did The Sultan’s Elephant that you’ll be very interested in.
LA MACHINE:
Les Mecaniques Savants
For the past eighteen months, we’ve been working on creating a spectacular new commission for Liverpool 08 – a show on the same scale as The Sultan’s Elephant. The event comes to fruition in September when Francois Delaroziere and his company La Machine will invade the streets and public places of Liverpool. An unmissable piece of free theatre will unfold against the landmarks of this great city, stopping the traffic and captivating everyone who sees it. The precise details are a still a closely guarded secret, but prepare to be astonished by a show that will make you believe in the impossible…
I know / can’t wait to see what happens!
208- Oh! My friend went on a trip around Europe. They saw the queen, and Buckingham Palace. Make sure to go to Liverpool if you can.
We are going to see Mamma Mia again, (?) because my dad didn’t see it. Luckily, we are going before 12:00 so it’s only 5$. Yayness!
At the tennis tournament, right when we were about to play, I realized there was blood on my hand. It turned out I cut it while opening that stupid can of balls.
I’m addicted to tennis.
Anyway. We are going to Cincinnati soon. For, guess what, a tennis tournament!! And than to Tennessee. I can’t wait. The Smoky Mountains look awesome and I REALLY wanna go horseback riding!
208) Oh! So COOL!
I LOVE Europe! wow! You’re trip is going to be really long! WHere are you going?
Gah. I went to Navy Pier, but it was with a bunch of girly-girls who only wanted to shop; hence, no Ferris Wheel and hardly any fun.
my computer is BROKEN! or something!
anyways, my cousin and her family went home today, but I think she’s still going to be blogging. Luckie her. I have to stay home, boring old home. Meh.
208- Cool! Have fun!
209- Ah, I see.
Aaah! I’ve been gone so long that the computer is no longer putting in my blog name automatically!
I was sick for a week, then spent this past week doing intensive college searches, and now I’m going to be gone for another whole week for NJCL convention. So in other words, unless I get more time today, it’ll be awhile before I can catch up. :p
202- Ubuntu. I like it more then Kubuntu. Also get The Offical Ubuntu book, Third Edition. it has a CD with both on it.
200- Yay! 2 brain points! (I think…
)
184 – Rose/flower.
Double post (?), sorry, but I thought this was odd.
I left the door to my dorm room open to go diagonally across the hall to talk to my friends, and simply told them that they could come in whenever, and I left saying that the door was always open to our room. Fine.
So, I step out of their room just in time to see my roommate close our door and leave.
Boy, if looks could kill…
Dorm room? Why are you in dorm? You’re not in school right now are you?
Ah HA! I have found a new cucumber recipe! Cucumber/lime jello. I don’t know how good it is, but we’re having it for dinner tonight, so everyone cross their fingers for us!
I’m going to get a present for Clarissa for her birthday, even though she dosn’t want me to and insists that I don’t.
Would a candle (or two) be good? Or should I just stick with the classic CD or wristband or something? What do girls with purple hair like for their birthday?
Hello. I just got back from math nerd camp where we learn that 2*2 is 3 and that all numbers are equal to 0. It was fun.
223- Dye remover?
But seriously… um, I don’t know. What are some of her interests?
225- ROFL
223) POSOC is right. It depends on her interests. I mean, I know the perfect gift to give me would a plant, because I’m a plant freak. Of course, if I gave my friend a plant, she would not by any means be enthusiastic.
Ack, I didn’t quite get caught up, but I really need to go pack, etc. now. I’m off to Ohio/JCL convention, so bye until next week (unless I have more time to post later tonight, but probably not)!
Anyone who cares to, come to a fund raiser beginning on this thread at 6:00 p.m. pacific time. Donate choklit and enjoy an evening of [insert appropriate events here] and more. All proceeds to ZVX as Life Prime Muser of Museica.
222 – I’m at nerd camp at Northwestern University.
So that’s why.
*brain fizzles out*
TMFA For Life PM!
I guess no one came…
232- Ah, Well. I’m ahead.
oops!
ZVX for life PM! *Any choklit?Wung points?*
Speech:
“My vision, for if I am elected, is that we will put more money into preserving Museica’s beautiful parks. I have been donating steadfastly to the International Wung Society to give our dear companions better habitat, and a better life. Similarly, yours truly has staged an attack on evilus bunnies and won. We are bringing Nicegoodus bunnies back from the dark side, and cooperating peacefully with them.
“Vote ZVX for Life Prime Muser. 2008.”
Re: Linux: I used to use Red Hat. I don’t really remember much about it – I was like 10 and was on an old Dell, so instead of windows my brother set me up with Red Hat. I liked it. I use macs now, though. I need to get better with the terminal at some point, though.
I can’t remember if I’ve asked this before, but does anyone here type Dvorak, or have experience with it? I’m considering switching, but I think I’m going to wait until I get home from the camp I’m at now. Is it a difficult switch to make, from qwerty to dvorak? Also I’m left-handed, so would it be too right-hand-centric for me?
228) Have fun!
Hmm I kind of want to go bake something…maybe a chocolate torte. hrrrmph
Such a loverly day! Hmmm? Well, today shall most likely be a baking day for me as well! Muffin making! I think I’ll most likely end up making 2 batches. One of blueberry and another of cucumber muffins. Yummy yummy!
Today shall also be a window washing day! *goes to find Windex*
Its Beautrix Potter’s birthday today (see peter rabbit Google)! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
208- That sounds amazing! Have fun
210- That’s useful.
Agh, I’ve been gone for two days. So many posts to read…
In the next town over, a new library just opened up, and it is now officially one of my favorite buildings ever. Our family visited it on Saturday, and there are four floors, study rooms, conference rooms, computer rooms, probably a few million books, a kid’s room, a teen’s room, and such. Plus, they have a healthy stack of MUSE back issues, as opposed to the very few my local library has :D. There are huge windows, with amazing views, and the whole building runs partially on solar energy.
I wish I lived within walking distance.
On a somewhat less exciting point, we went down to NYC after visiting the library and checked out the MET and Central Park for the first time in a while. Which was nice.
/end boring story of what I did over the weekend
203- K/ubuntu is always under development. If something doesn’t work and there is an update, try the update, it *might* work.
I use Kubuntu because that’s what came after the SuSE debacle. If sound doesn’t work, poke whatever driver you’re using with a sharp stick.
On command lines: I really don’t know much command line magic. What I do know makes me look magic, but I know *almost* nothing. *sigh*
this stuff is magic.
I haven’t been to my best friends house in a while. She’s been traveling a lot lately. So I got to see her today. Yay! She brought me back a pin from disney land with a little chipmunk on it. And her brother keeps staring at me
.
I can’t wait for school to start again so it can end again and I can be happy.
We went out for dinner a few days ago for my mom and dad’s anniversary. My sister was the only one who got a kids menu, and I’m the same age as her. So I took it and wrote all over the back of it (it was a drawing one). She tried reading it afterwards, but they gave me a crayon so it was hard to read. So it went something like this:
I woke up in bed feeling drowsy. Where was I? my back was aching and I was freezing. I turned so I was on my side and saw a curled up form sleeping in a make shift bed next to me. Than she remembered. “Nez?” she said quietly. “Nez?”
“Hm?”
“Where’s Keziah?”
“Gone,”
“Dead?”
“Missing.”
“Oh.”
There was a moment of silence. “What about the others?”
“They are looking for her,”
“TorØ too?”
“Yes.”
Apparently while I was gone my sister’s friend came over and looked up obscene stuff on my computer.
I hope she gets kidnapped and sent to Mongolia. Along with Opal for aiding and abetting.
I think I need to carry my computer with me everywhere I go.
242- Is it a family computer, or your personal computer?
243- It’s my computer, but I let my mom use it. But Opal isn’t/Opal’s friends aren’t allowed to touch it. EVER.
WHAT THE HECK?!?!?! WHY IS THE ‘RECENT COMMENTS BAR ALL ELLIPSES???
*bangs head against wall*
THE RECENT COMMENTS BAR VANISHED!!!
i dont know if anyone remembers me, but here i am!!!!!!!!!!!
We uploaded a new version of the comments software, which cut off comments after a certain number of words instead of after a period. But everybody complained that it was spoiling the spoilers, so I’ve just switched back to the old version.
(247) Hi, kt! We GAPAs remember you, of course. Can you believe that it’s been almost a year since the Kokonvention?
247- Ah. OK. The old one was confusing me because I thought someone said something about it cutting off the comment at the first period if that came before the 25-word mark. But I get it now that we’ve changed back.
Wait. That changed to 248 after I submitted. My response to 247 is more like:
kt! Hi! -pies-
Welcome back, KT! *Pies*
247- HI!
247 – Hello, kt!
Does anyone like jelly donuts?
Does anyone like jelly donuts? Anyone?
218- Why? The point of Linux is that it’s free… just download the ISOs.There are plenty of useful sites online.
240- Oh, I tried the stick method. I even read the man pages. But nothing makes noise when JACK is running (even Amarok gives an error about the xine drivers not working. Some apps, like the tuner and Frets on Fire, which rely on noise, don’t open.) and it doesn’t work without JACK… I just want Rosegarden to make noise! It says it works. It doesn’t. I will attack this further tomorrow. When I turn of JACK the other things work again. (Actually, Hydrogen makes noise, but that’s all. I was randomly opening programs and clicking things to find that out…)
Good news! My mother, who is upgrading her computer’s RAM, is doing the same for me! That’s an increase from 512MB to 2GB. I’m not looking forward to defragmenting/resizing partitions so my swap file stays the right proportion, but this is good in the end.
Bad news! I still haven’t done work on my global summer reading stuff. I will go do that now, I hope.
Also greetings to whoever I was supposed to greet, and appropriate reactions of shock/amazement/joy/sorrow/anger,
247- Hi Kt!!!!

i ran back to camp to do something about my hands. as i ran back i felt more pain in my fingertips. i looked down and saw 3 blisters growing on the fingertips of my right hand. i have a huge roadrash looking thing on my leg,a scratch on m stomach and 6 smal wpunds on my hands. i was lucky. kokonilly i will call you affter camp is over ass i am caddieing this year as well. the campers thought my leg wound was a disease. the other nillybuckbuck has not been seen. i shall go to the bunnt apocalypse now
Hi kt!
*pies*
256) No, because I do not like jelly. bUt i like donuts in general, especially cream filled ones. Yummy!
259) Well, I’m glad you’re OK!
(256) I like jelly doughnuts, but please don’t send me any of your extras. They don’t travel well.
MARFwarrior:
Gosh, I never knew that! Oh my gosh! Dang! I feel so bad!!! *sends hugs and choklit*
A beetle just dropped next to me, on the table. I don’t exactly know how, or where from… the ceiling? He’s not moving… *pokes beetle gently* Ah, he’s alive. *watches beetle scuttle under papers*
His name is Arnold.
242-
Does your sister have a computer?
I hope you get better!!
247- Hi!
255/6- Sure, usually.
260-
Arnold seems to have disappeard…
219-Yay! But you meant 201, right?
Yet another loverly morning of an even more loverly day!
You know, those cucumber/lime jello molds were pretty good last night. Yet another cucumber success!
Well, today shall be anther day of washing windows. Actually, I like washing windows, it gives me quality time with my sister. I bet this will be the last time we ever clean together before she leaves for college. *sob*
It’s the 50th anniversary of NASA’s establishment, and Google’s got a wicked celebratory logo!
we just had a 5.8 eartjquake cented 7 miles from us and i freaked out and started screaming and tring to go to the door i hate hate hate earthquakes my mom’s spice jar broke
i hate aftershocks too
oxlin has a roommate and is excited about this!
268 (wasn’t up when I last posted) I’m sorry! *hugs*
268) I’m glad you’re OK! I mean, if the only thing that was damaged was your Mom’s spice jar, you got off pretty good, right?
Wow. I am very tired. I have been washing windows non stop since 9:00 this morning. Bleh.
Wow. The blog is kind of slow today……. Where is everyone?
thanks oxlin…
I feel more together now but I have this huge fear of earthquakes… they even had to evacuate disneyland! augh…it sounds like everyone’s okay though. the scariest part is that there will always be more earthquakes…it’s not really a relief when it’s over because it just reminds me about how all the faults around here are due for something big. or so they say…
AMAZING! MY INTERNET IS ACTUALLY WORKING! I got home from my soccer tournament yesterday, but it’s only been working for a few minutes, on and off, since.
139 – Wait. You can do both at the same time?
Seriously, though. I played in 5 soccer games over the course of three days (one on Friday, two on Saturday, one on Sunday, and then the championship on Sunday) and we were really, really tired. I could barely run at the start of the championship, and I’ve got bruises all over my legs.
But it was really fun! ^^ We went 3-1-1 over the five games, and the only loss was to a very good Premier team that probably shouldn’t have been playing in the tournament at all. Oh well.
142, 147 – Yeah, I’m really sorry that it didn’t work out…
157 – The same is true for me. It’s amazing to look back at my Early MuseBlog Posts (when I can find them) and see how much I’ve changed in two years. Mostly for the better, I guess.
162 – Oh, yeah. I remember that person. -is slightly confused by name changes-
167 – I remember the first one, but I only know Yay4HotPinkBunnies from reading old threads.
Anybody remember WizGirl? Probably not, because that was ages ago and I only posted about three times.
208 – Have fun! See you (maybe literally? Kokon?) in November!
224 – Hmm, that sounds fun. How did that work?
239 – That’s awesome! My local library is pretty cool, but I don’t think it has any Muses at all.
247 – I remember you! Not very well, but still!
I hope my Internet is still working after I post this. It really has been on and off.
Owowwoowwww. My feet hurt.
I walked to the library today. I didn’t have any normal shoes at my dad’s so I wore some canvas flats and they gave me blisters. I ended up carrying them most of the way there and back.
I live about 3 miles from the library. It took about an hour to walk there, so I only got to stay for about 1/2 hour and I didn’t even have my card with me. I don’t know where it is.
I just realized my knee hurts too. Grrr.
Oh! I passed my instructor certification on Sunday!!!
225-She already has six bottles of that “just in case”.
I dunno, she likes the kind of thing that would come from the occult supply store down town. I’ve been there once, maybe I should go again and pick up a few candles or insense or something.
247-Hi KT! I remember you.
274-It’s good that you’re OK, though. I think if I lived where you do I’d have a fear of earthquakes too. I used to be freaked out abou tthem, but then I realized that my area hasn’t had an earthquake since, like, forever, so…
43 – Speaking of lightbulbs, one of my friends on another website posted this and I thought you guys might be amused by it.
How many posters are needed to change a light bulb?
1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
1 to move it to the Lighting section
2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section
7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
5 to flame the spell checkers
3 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it’s “lightbulb” or “light bulb” … another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is “lamp”
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that “light bulb” is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
7 to post URL’s where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL’s were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL’s
3 to post about links they found from the URL’s that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add “Me too”
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy
4 to say “didn’t we go through this already a short time ago?”
13 to say “do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs”
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.
Wow. Clearly they are larger than MB. But I’ve been in forums like that before…
Me too.
Don’t forget the 10 who clomplain lightbulbs arn’t the same as the use to be.
GOING TO MILENNIUM PARK SATURDAY… Kokon?
281- CRUD! Going in next week.
281- ! Are you going to see a concert?
Dang it, I’m going to be in Cincinnati!!!!!! When does the “Nerd Camp” end? We’re coming back on August 8th-ish.
283- And I was going pretty long too
Now that my wonderful Alter Ego is gone because of one of 3,000 foolish mistakes I will, um, I will, what will I do? Sit down and eat mexican food! Yes, that is what I shall do!
YUM. Chocolate chips.
I’m going to make cookies eventually, I believe, but having already eaten most of the ice cream in the freezer and a big handful of chocolate chips, it’s hard to imagine eating cookies as well.
Cookies are very yummy! STrangely though, right now, I have been in a muffin craze. I found a cook book that is entirely filled with muffin recipes and I do believe that it is my goal to try them all, at least the ones that make me want to eat them. So far, I have only tried 2, but I’m working on it.
272, 277)
Thanks you guys! It’s all good but I’m still wearing my helmet around the house. sad but true OTL
282 – Aww…
And no. I’m on a field trip, look for me in a neon orange shirt…
283 – ALTER EGO ALERT!
AGAIN, GOING TO MILENNIUM PARK THIS SATURDAY, KOKON?
I want cookies! -drool-
276- What are you now certified to instruct us in? I recently got my Sailing Instructor certification, I hope your course wasn’t as long as mine was.
Ahhhhhhh. ANother loverly day of washing windows. Perhaps this shall be the last day of it. Then I can work on my scrapbook and bake some more cucumber muffins.
288- You should see Buckingham Fountain and The “Bean” as I like to call it. it’s really called “Cloud Gate” but it looks like a giant bean to me. Anyway, it’s pretty cool. The gardens near the big stage/field is pretty.
Oh, and GAPAs, I changed my e-mail.
Me sinxorite. Yia sou, me lene Kai. Pu ine i prezvia?
Excuse me. Hello, my name is Kai. Where is the embassy?
And how do I say “I’m trying to learn Greek from a very user-unfriendly language tape” in Ellenika ?
292- Is that a Jeff Koons sculpture? His work is great! I saw the big blue diamond ring in front of Sotheby’s.
https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1401#comment-229338 .
Go there. Elections on CoM, part the eighth. VOTE ZVX FOR LIFE PRIME MUSER.
295- not quite yet! We’re confused.
So, I just found out that one of my sort of-kind of-not really friends from my school will be going to the other middle school in our district next year. We’ve never really been that close, and she got on my nerves a lot this year, but it’s strange to think they she won’t be there.
The new Batman movies is AWESOME!
My Dad took us to see it today! The Joker was awesome…….. and so was “2 face”. However, it was very violent. I’m beginning to wonder why it was only PG13.
Hi, I’ll be on tomorrow (probably) because I’ll be home then…

The rendezvous was fun, and I’ll write more later…..untill then pies, peace and HOT PINK BUNNIES!!!!!!!
290-Taekwondo. The actual seminar only took 6 hours, but I’ve been in taekwondo for 5 years.
298-Oh man that was a great movie!!! It was pretty freaky though. You should watch the History channel shows about Batman. They explain a lot about it.
Tomorrow morning I hope to go to the green bridge and watch the sunrise. For this to happen I need my sister to sleep in her room though, and it’s not looking good right now because she’s still down here playing her cello. She just got it yesterday.
Gooooooooood morning everyone!
Well, today will be another day of washing windows, hopefully the last. anyway, this weekend is tax-free weekend! MY family is going to our grandmothers to go back-to-school shopping with her. It’s kind of an annual thing. Tis a fun day, as long as we can keep grandma going. For some reason, she seems to have gotten it in her head that she’s a bother to shop with and always tries to stay in the car. We keep telling her, “The reason why we drove all this way was to “shop with Grandma” we can’t very well do that without Grandma!” Alas, it takes a lot of work to get grandma to not get what she wants. Oh well. We try.
301- Gooooooooood morning kiwimuncher!
Well, I will be gone for a week without any internet (I’m pretty sure), thus I cannot go on the blog. Do whatever you want with my character(s) in Muse Academy and Bunny Apocalypse.
Off to paradise! Proschi, adieu, arrividerci, adios, shalom, aloha, auf wiedersehen, hey doh, chow, sianara, ciao, bæ!, å†è§, *goes on*
GOODBYE!
Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood morning, Kiwimuncher!
Wow, you must have a lot of windows! I have seen in a couple of your posts that you have cucumber recipes. Do tell! I have waaay too many cucumbers. We thought of trying to make pickles–do you have any experience with that? And cucumber muffins–they sound very interesting indeed! I hope you don’t mind my asking.
I think I’ve found my blog twin!
Red-tailed HAWK

(303) Midnight Fiddler’s mom adds thinly sliced cucumbers to sesame noodles to make a different kind of pasta salad.
My mom liked to fix cucumbers “Japanese style,” which is kind of a refrigerator pickling. She sliced them extremely thin, then marinated them in rice wine vinegar (diluted with water and with a touch of sugar added, I don’t remember the exact proportions, but I might have her notes somewhere). Leave them in the fridge for at least an hour before serving.
298 – I’ve heard that it was really good. I’m not really sure if I want to see it or not, though, because I’m not a fan of creepy movies.
301 – I love back-to-school shopping. In addition to whatever I need for myself, my family donates school supplies to a local charity, so my mom gives my brother and I each a budget. We have to try to cram as many glue sticks/pencils/notebooks into that budget as we can, so we have to do a lot of comparison shopping. It’s fun!
Good moring folks!
Hi.
I feel like I’ve been gone for a long time.
But I haven’t.
Anyway, I have discovered my purpose in life: Finding tangible magic. I’m sure magic exists beyond my imagination, but I just need to find it.
Yesterday Eva and I decided to go around a church widdershins and see what happened. Eventually we found a church that it was possible to go around and did so, but with no result. Dang. And then we went back to Eva’s house and started learning Tarot. I’m making my own cards, and I’m already working on number thirteen (of seventy-eight). It’s the Hanged Man, symbolizing indecision, a turning point, noncomformity.
And he’s upside-down.
So yesterday, being the weirdly fanatic girl that I am, I laid out Childermass’s fortune as told in “The Cards of Marseilles” and attempted to read it. I got a vague impression, but not much else. I’m not very skilled…
303) No, I haven’t made any pickles. Our cucumbers aren’t the pickling type. But I would definately recommend the cucumber muffins!
Cucumber Muffins
3 tsp vanilla extract
3 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup vegetable oil
2 cups grated cucumber, drained
2 cups sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
Preheat you oven to 350 degree. Mix eggs and vanilla extract. Gradually beat in the oil, cucumber, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Then add the flour. Lastly, blend in the remaining ingrediants.
When putting in muffin cups, make sure to grease the cups to prevent sticking. Fill the cups only slightly more then 2/3 of the way with batter. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Depending on the size of you muffin cups, this recipe makes from 2-3 dozen muffins.
THERE IS A HUGE THUNDERSTORM COMING DIRECTLY AT US RIGHT NOW.
309- Uh, oh. Hope you don’t lose your Internet connection.
Oh, I forgot. I had this on my cell phone calender too.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY J.K ROWLING AND HARRY POTTER!!!
307-Me and my girlfriend have been doing that for a couple of months, trying to find magic that’s beyond our imagination. We’re sure it exists, but where?
The occult store downtown helps a lot, so we both have boxes filled with stuff from there and other interesting trinkets that we might use in a spell or potion or something.
Oh, plus we’re both growing lavender and I already have a “sacred spot” in which to preform spells (like the ones we got on the prayer card with these candles) under a full moon.
Neither of our parents know.
But you can’t get too much into the occult without knowing EXACTLY what you’re doing. It can screw with your mind. The Nazis went far to deep into that kind of stuff and you know what happened to them, right? So be really careful…
*vanishes*
308-pickles?
*is confused*
Anyway, I’m freaked out. MB wasn’t online a moment ago, and I went to MA, and NO ONE WAS THERE!!!!!!!!!!
And then I checked for MB…and it was there. So now me is relieved.
309- It’s storming here too
UGH.
I’m cleaning my closet. This involves dumping everything on the floor, sorting it into three piles (Keeping, Not Keeping, Maybe Keeping), then going through the Maybe Keeping pile and trying most of it on to see if it still fits or whatever, until I only have Keeping and Not Keeping. And then I have to deal with those until the only thing not put away is the fifty or so knee socks, a belt or two, and some hats.
Yergh. Blah. No me gusta.
I think for dinner we should have tomato soup and grilled cheese and salad. Which means I need to go get ingredients when I’m done with my closet.
And I have to make a new Hermit card because I messed up the other one when I tried to color it. It’s really had to make him wearing a cloak and holding a lantern at the same time. I swear I need models. I always end up positioning my own arms or legs or whatever and trying to replicate that, but it’s not the same.
I’m writing again! It’s great; I haven’t written in so long, and here I am with this idea and all these directions I want to go and it makes me SO HAPPY!!!
Should I do NaNoWriMo?
311- Ignoring the fact that they were pretty warped to begin with…
Apropos of nothing (but this is the random thread‚ so everything is apropos of nothing)‚ does anybody know what the Riemann hypothesis is? I looked it up on Wikipedia but I didn’t really understand it.
316-Yeah, but they started the whole occult/paganism thing pretty early. It gives magick a bad name and makes people think “occult”=”dead people who lead athiest cults”
315- Why are you asking right now?
Hello! I’m home again, tired, and not even going to bother wading through many, many posts.
Anyone care to give me a summary of what’s been going on? ‘Twould be much appreciated!
Has anyone played Mao? It’s a card game that’s probably Paker’s cousin!
314 — i’ve been writing a lot too. I’m writing a fanfiction and it’s really fun. ofcourse i wasdoing it in playwriting class today, which isn’t so good, but who caares? it’s much more fun1
Well, my Internet didn’t die and I didn’t get struck by lightning, which is a good sign.
Fiddler- Hi! -pies-
321- Mao? NOT my favorite game in the world.
just got back from gameworks. one of our band activities. they have a new game! it’s drums! it’s all in japanese, but we watched this guy who was absolutely hardcore (he was pwning ddr too) and figured out how to play. it shows you little smiley faces, and the red ones mean hit the middle and the blue ones mean hit the side. if it’s giant, it means hit with both sticks at once and if there’s a long line after the smiley it’s a roll. i spent most of the time playing that. i beat mr j (my band director) AND mr mann (assistant) and dan and i beat each other a couple times each. mellison and i also played and both won once.
dan and j and mann and i also did the balloon pirate game (you have a balloon with a spike on the bottom and you poke other balloons so they fall to the ground. and then when your balloon goes up you actually go up in your chair and down etc) actually i won my first balloon game (with hecht and two other kids we didn’t know (prolly orch-dorks)) but in the second one i got 2nd because dan stole all my power-ups. mr j got 12 points, which is absolutely pathetic. we laughed at him pretty much all night. but then he saw me trying to play mario kart and i couldn’t laugh at him any more.
anyway. it was a party.
i haven’t gone through the rest of the week either, so here it is…
last night was a movie, and through some miracle of forgetfulness, we managed to get j to accept spaceballs (hey, it’s PG!) apparently he hadn’t seen it in a while. we ran it rocky horror-style, shouting out callbacks and ignoring the two orch-dorks who actually wanted to watch (out of like 30 or 40 people, it was probably the least well-attended activitiy)
tuesday was the pool party. i knew all the lifeguards again, which is always just frightening. especially when it’s little hoffman who’s in band and eric w. who just quit last year. but it’s cool because they let us get away with chicken-fights, throwing frosh, and an insane amount of dunking. also i got m+ms from dan, who works the snack bar
monday was guitar hero/rock band. eric m, mr j, mr mann, and crandall (orch director) did rock band, and mr j tried to sing “more than a feeling”. it was classic. classically bad. dan has it on video. you can hear me, sarah, cheese, and lisa doing the background vocals
Why did H&H unstick, but not Random or IMCT?
The new ones haven’t been created yet. The new H&H has been created but hasn’t come online yet. It’s a GAPA thing.
327- ah. got it.
323~ Always.
The Hare and Hedgepig is above the random thread, at least when I got onto the main page. Do I detect a sleepy GAPA?
Anyway, what’s been going on around here???
I was in Vermont at a living history event. My idea of Vermont included cool weather, trees and no humidity, my idealistic dreaming was disappointed. We were camped in a hilly field with no shade to speak of, near a swamp, covered in mosquitoes the size and ferocity of small helicopters, and incredibly humid weather……..UGH. Our neighbors were loud at night, and our camp was the only one in the whole event (which was microscopic) that had any historical accuracy……Grr. despite that, it was rather fun……
I got to set off a cannon one day!!! The first time I was the powder monkey, but later that day I actually got to yell and touch it off, wheeee! Big BOOM, smoke, gunpowder, slowmatch, aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. How glorious. The shouting bit was nice too, let off some steam of my own..ahhh.
Anyway, MB news??? Pweeze???????
321- Yes, I was introduced to it at CTY. Can’t remember all of it, could you explain the rules? (Although they do change though, from game to game, right?)
317- No clue. But the zeta polar graph is pretty!
324~ Hi yourself! *pies back* Nice to see you again. Anything happening?
I’ll check back tomorrow, since now I need to go to the barn and get some toilet paper and then go to bed……..*sigh* goodnight everyone.
(331, 329) Well, it’s your turn to move in your chess game.
329- O.O LUCKY!!! -dies- I want to set off a cannon… -mopes-
