Current topic: The weather
Coming up: Cool places we’ve been to or want to go to
…Second post?
I have suggestion for the topic. Or rather, I had one, as I seem to have just forgotten it. It will come back to me later.
Hmm… well, I suppose I have second post, unless there are previous posts that have not gonae through moderation yet. Let’s talk about the weather. I for one am exceedingly tired of winter. I keep wanting to wake up and see that the snow has melted and feel the warm air around me. Everymorining I wake up and it is rather depressing to find the ground still piled with snow. Walking to the bus is an ordeal ina nd of itself. Because of the snow piled at te edges of the sidewalks, as tall as my waist. My feet sliding on the carpet of hard packed snow. I am tired of winter.
1 – Could you please not do that? [Comment refers to a “first post” post that has now been retrozapped. –Admin.]
Topic suggestion: Cool places we’ve been/want to go to.
1 – Please don’t clutter the page with posts that have nothing to do with the thread’s topic.
I know we have a visual arts thread, and I think this was a topic no more than a year ago, but how about graphic/computer arts?
3 – Yes, I like that idea. I’m going to Japan this summer!
2 – I wish it would snow more by me. We got snow with ice on top of it last week, and it’s just annoying. It’s hard to walk on without slipping (my brothers actually started a “slip counter” from when they were walking home from school) so you can’t play in it or have snowball fights. So it would be nice if the ice went away and was replaced with snow.
i live by two ski hills (and yes they are just hills compared to the ones in colorado) and every time there is a snow day we go skiing. but some days(mostly when we are forced to walk outside for 30 minutes. grr the confines of mental prison) i wish winter would just be over already.
3- i like that idea. i’ve been to france, germany, and the UK. I want to go to egypt.
5– Ooh where in Japan? My advice is to try to get a JR pass (rail pass). I think it’s only 2-3 hours from Tokyo to Kyoto by Shinkansen
As for the weather: hot and dry as usual. Well actually it’s “cold” and dry (and windy) more often than not. Generally uncomfortable, although at night one can smell the orange blossoms which is very pleasant…
Down here in mississippi its warm
The weather? HAve we nothing better to discuss?
I suppose it’s fine over here. Springy very much. Robins have been loitering in our yard all day. daffodils are resuming their conquest toward the sun again after the brief snow. It’s official. Winter refuses to come.
10 – Are you forward in time??? Why is it spring there???
*sigh* It’s still cold here. There hasn’t been an official thaw yet. I think it’s below freezing.
Wait a minute……the thread name says “February 2008“, but it is 2009
weather seems…I dunno, not the most interesting. It was 60 yesterday, 45 today, and 30 on Friday…..
(12) We’re easing into the new year by increments.
I love snow! We have a lot of it around here.
How about Google as a topic? How it compares to other search engines, Gmail and iGoogle, Google hoaxes and Easter eggs, and stuff like that.
15- That could be interesting.
I vote we put the Google topic on the upcoming list and go to the next topic. Also, I’m not sure where I first heard this (it could have been on the religion thread for all I know) but there is a Google religion.
I have a gmail account. Just trying to be helpful. gotta go, algebra homework is waiting. shoot.
It’s February???
I was under the assumption that it was still the 26th today…
18- Yahoo, all the way.
Weather? About a foot and a half of snow that refuses to melt. And all along the roads there are piles of snow that have turned brownish-black from all the dirt. I adore winter in Ohio.
Weather in NH: 3 feet of dirty brown snow coated in a thick layer of ice that will not melt, despite the 45 degree temp we had today. The roads are still awful, and more snow is due tomorrow.
I mean, come on. I am so DONE with winter.
I’m not. I’ve only been skiing 2 times! I live in Ohio, so I go to a place in Indiana called Perfect North Slopes. They have also have good tubing
22- Tubing is amazing. I crashed into this little kid on the bottom of a hill one time…
More snow here. UUUUUNNNNNNGGGGGHHHHHHH.
michigan winter is fun the first 8 times you go skiing. after that though you just want spring to come already. we have over a foot of snow piled up around the side walks. if those collapsed on a little kid they could die.
On the topic of weather, I was out of power for four days because of that rediculous ice storm. I was stuck playing cards with my sister and wonderingif my friends had power (most of them did). But now the heat is back on and I am happy.
The weather here at school was quite nice today, provided you don’t expect winter temperature. It was mid-60s, which is truly summer weather back home. SUMMER weather, in February. And I realize I’m significantly farther south than home (not much where else to go but south from Alaska, unless I wish to travel more north in the state), but still. The weather here is screwy: the weather seems to change daily, from below freezing, to summer temps in a day. I mean, even when it’s cold when I go to class in the morning, and I need a winter coat, by the time I get done with classes, I barely need a sweatshirt. I mean, really.
Still, it was rather nice.
this has nothing to do with the topic. but i just had the most inexplicable desire to eat a taco. i think i’m going insane.
It rained yesterday. Now it’s windy. Comfterable weather. Cold, for me.
Gah, my head is still in poem form!
Update: It is now sunny. AND STILL RAINING! HOW CAN IT RAIN WHEN THERE ARE NO CLOUDS?!?! *leaps up and down like an angry leprechaun*
11) No, it’s just weird. The weather is confused.
Well, the daffodils are pretty. They’re just opening up.
And it was so warm today, I took my books outside and did my homework in the sun for several hours. However, I had to go in around 4:00 because I narrowly escaped a run-in with a skunk. Ewwy. It was kind of funny really. We live back in the woods and I had gone back by my grandmother’s house which is even deeper in the woods beside ours (she isn’t staying there right now, she’s a fancy nursing home). Well, I had been sitting on a giant stump in the middle of her yard and I had already been interrupted several times by a few friendly neighborhood feral felines. Suddenly I hear a crashing in the woods across the lawn and I look up to see this large black shape running out of the trees. I thought it was one of the cats at first because one of them is huge, black and furry. But I realized it wasn’t when I noticed it’s lumbering gait. The tell tale stripe on it’s head sent little alarm bells through my brain. “Oh SNAP! PLEASE don’t let it come over here. Invisible. I am INVISABLE. Oh no. OH NO!” It came so close that I was afraid to breathe. The instant it disappeared into my grandmother’s bushes a few yards away I bolted.
OMG today it was 50 DEGREES OUTSIDE. I freaked.
31- How is that an OMG? Here it’s frequently 50 degrees. Inside.
31- here too!!!! Today and yesterday!!!!!
32 – INSIDE? Are you all insane? 50 degrees warrants a light jacket and maybe a hat.
34- Not lately, since we bought a new space heater, but between the heater breaking down and costs rising… brr.
50 degrees inside? That’s pretty cold, I guess, but not that bad. We usually keep our house around 60, but we used to live in a house heated solely by space heaters, and that was cold. Then we lived in a house with a woodstove, which was also very chilly until it was engulfed in flames, and now we live in a house with electric heat (gasp!). Pretty coon we’re moving, though, and we’ll have oil heating, so we’ll probably go back to space heaters mostly.
Wow! Everybody’s moving these days. Three neighbors on my tiny street just moved out recently.
Okay, I’m not from the MuseBlog, but so I have no idea where to put this. On the Chatterbox, many of us have gotten to know TNO, and finally voted me into coming here to ask you if ANYONE knew where she is? Sorry if this was an awful spot to put this, but, as I said, I’m new! So does anyone know? Thanks!
Natasharox (38): I haven’t seen TNO around for awhile, I’m not sure where she’s off to.
Are you planning on sticking around?
TNO was last sighted on the blog on January 20; before that, on January 1.
38- She’s around. Try Pie Isle.
40- I swear I saw her last night!
You’re right! I was searching for “TNO,” whereas she usually posts as “TNÖ.” She’s been here a handful of times in the past two weeks, and Pie Isle does seem to be her usual hangout.
40-43-huh. I must frequent different threads than her.
43–
*gasp* A typo! By a GAPA!
“Pie Isle does seem to be her usually hangout.”
So sad. I’m disillusioned. *sniffle*
43–gah. You fixed it. Before I’d even finished my comment.
So, anyway, on the subject of the thread. The weather here is pretty “nice” today. The temps been 50 and above, nice for walking to class (except for the wind, and the rain on my way back from my last class), but not very nice when I have yet to have a real winter this year. Now it’s bright and sunny, and almost 60.
36 – Really? My house is normally 70 degrees.
39 – I might. The whole layout is somewhat more confusing then what I’m used to.
A few of us from the Chatterbox are considering coming here. I think I’ll stay!
Thank you everyone for your help!
Oh, I forgot!
40 – She was last seen at the Chatterbox on January 28. It couldn’t be that she actually got bored of these sites. She spends waaaay too much time on here to be able to get bored.
47- I found MuseBlog through the Chatterbox. I only started my Muse subscription in December, and my first Muse came in January, so you don’t have to get Muse to be here. How do you like the Chatterbox? The political discussions seemed very one-sided when I was there. I haven’t been on since September or October.
You might also find TNO on the Books in Progress thread.
weather today at school=nasty.
It’s pouring rain, 40 degrees, and not only am I (well, was, I just changed) completely drenched, my jeans soaked entirely through from mid thigh down, my sweathsirt soaked, my shoes completely water logged (and were during my entire english class–I was freezing during it), and my backpack all wet (fortunately it’s plasticy, so the main portion is dry, so my notebooks aren’t destroyed), but the weather also just has to have big unexpectged gusts of winds when you go through streets between buildings (like little narrower ones that are shortcuts to get back to your room), even though when you look outside it’s just a light breeze, and so now not only am I soaking wet, but by god cursed umbrella is busted beyond repair, because the idiots who make umbrellas are too bloody incompetent to make an umbrella that is not destroyed when it gets blown inside out. I mean, c’mon, how hard can it be to make the litle metal cross pieces not quite so flimsy that they bend, and to make the joints so they can bend the opposite direction when caught by a gust of wind, but still keep their shape the rest of the time? It really can’t be that hard. Probably make ’em so poorly so everybody has to buy a new umbrella after every other use of it!!!!!!! I swear, this is only around the third time I’ve used the blasted thing.
So, yeah. It’s pouring rain still, I’ve probably got more worms smashed on the bottom of my shoes than I want to think about, and I no longer have an umbrella (not that it was dong much good), and am soaking wet. With no dry shoes. Except a pair of new tennies, not what i am giong to wear in the rain. I think i’m just going to wear my flipflops–it’s not like my feet can get any wetter in them, and at least my feet’ll not be encased in wetness during my next class in them.
*is very, very irritated* Maybe my raincoat (which I will dig out of my closet–it wasn’t raining when I went to class this morning, but it was when I got done with my first class, sans umbrella–I stopped at my dorm after eating breakfast at a cafeteria, cuz my dorm was closer than my next class, and i thought it might actually be helpful. And then on the way back from english it killed itself) will manage to keep my upper body semi dry……
49 – We all got annoyed at being sort of mean and nasty to each other, so we just stopped using those sort of threads. Now, we all add as many smileys as we possibly can, and are completly random. It’s sort of strange how much it’s changed.
I live in fear of anagrams.
*runs away*
52- Every possible word has at least one insulting anagram in my experience with online generators.
YAY! MORE SNOW!!!
25-Hated that.
Weather for me gets tricky. I have Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), with a summer-winter complex. Anyone else?
I have a bit of SAD, I get slightly miserable during the spring and summer, but winter really cheers me up….
I wish we actually HAD winter here… I moved to Southeast Asia a few months ago and there’s not more than a 1-degree difference with the seasons here….
the SAD is kind of permanent here, but that may just be because I hate this place.
Where I used to live, we had this massive rainstorm that went on for about a month….actually, a few weeks ago, here in Asia we had this huge monsoon-thingy and the entire district around my school flooded- cars were driving through water up to the wheel-well, and pedestrians were wading barefoot across what they estimated to be the sidewalk… everyone was coming to school completely soaked and the school was basically turned into a large puddle. We still have a rather large amount of mold left over in the lockers…
Um- Like yuck?
Are we STILL discussing the weather?
well, its good to be back, and im so ****ing pissed off. First here in NY it gets way too warm , then it rains, gets cold again, so now all we have is a layer of icy slush on the ground, with nasty mix due for tommorow and monday. life for a snowboarder sucks in NY. and can we change the topic to that? snowboarding? not skiing, skiers are the devil’s minions. Please, O wonderful administrators?
60- Perhaps you could try the Rants thread?
but EVERYONE looks at this thread, its more fun, cuz more people can see how pissed off i am
Holy crap people cuss here? I just came!!!!!
(63) Welcome, gamingnewt!
For future reference, this is about the limit of what we tolerate. Be aware, too, that from time to time we administrators (a.k.a. GAPAs) are subject to sudden attacks of primness when we have been known to zap at will.
We heartily encourage more creative forms of expressing emotion and excitement without resorting to the banal device of cussing.
64 – Haha, I’ve caught a typo. “rom” -> “from”
Awww, you caught it before I did.
SFTDP
Hello, burnznewt!
(65) Haha, I fixed it before you posted.
64- Great Barrier Reef! You’ve forgotten the latter of your parentheses! (example of “creative form of expressing emotion”)
(68) Yes, I saw that while I was replying to Kokonilly. My typing has gone all to wung buttons.
I shall have to remember “Great Barrier Reef!” Very satisfying to say.
I agree about “Great Barrier Reef.” Very memorable. Anyway, hello, Burnznewt.
(64) Thank you. Just I saw the guy ahead of me cuss so I was confused because Muse is way better then that.
SFTDP but how do you post stuff? Or can administrators only.
68) lol That’s a good one!
72) Welcome welcome!
*pies* You just email your stuff to the GAPAs and they will attempt to post as soon as they can.
