I have suggestion for the topic. Or rather, I had one, as I seem to have just forgotten it. It will come back to me later.

Hmm… well, I suppose I have second post, unless there are previous posts that have not gonae through moderation yet. Let’s talk about the weather. I for one am exceedingly tired of winter. I keep wanting to wake up and see that the snow has melted and feel the warm air around me. Everymorining I wake up and it is rather depressing to find the ground still piled with snow. Walking to the bus is an ordeal ina nd of itself. Because of the snow piled at te edges of the sidewalks, as tall as my waist. My feet sliding on the carpet of hard packed snow. I am tired of winter.

I know we have a visual arts thread, and I think this was a topic no more than a year ago, but how about graphic/computer arts?

  6. Groundhog says:

2 – I wish it would snow more by me. We got snow with ice on top of it last week, and it’s just annoying. It’s hard to walk on without slipping (my brothers actually started a “slip counter” from when they were walking home from school) so you can’t play in it or have snowball fights. So it would be nice if the ice went away and was replaced with snow.

i live by two ski hills (and yes they are just hills compared to the ones in colorado) and every time there is a snow day we go skiing. but some days(mostly when we are forced to walk outside for 30 minutes. grr the confines of mental prison) i wish winter would just be over already.

3- i like that idea. i’ve been to france, germany, and the UK. I want to go to egypt.

5– Ooh where in Japan? My advice is to try to get a JR pass (rail pass). I think it’s only 2-3 hours from Tokyo to Kyoto by Shinkansen :D

As for the weather: hot and dry as usual. Well actually it’s “cold” and dry (and windy) more often than not. Generally uncomfortable, although at night one can smell the orange blossoms which is very pleasant…

The weather here at school was quite nice today, provided you don’t expect winter temperature. It was mid-60s, which is truly summer weather back home. SUMMER weather, in February. And I realize I’m significantly farther south than home (not much where else to go but south from Alaska, unless I wish to travel more north in the state), but still. The weather here is screwy: the weather seems to change daily, from below freezing, to summer temps in a day. I mean, even when it’s cold when I go to class in the morning, and I need a winter coat, by the time I get done with classes, I barely need a sweatshirt. I mean, really.

    Still, it was rather nice.

    11) No, it’s just weird. The weather is confused.

Well, the daffodils are pretty. They’re just opening up. And it was so warm today, I took my books outside and did my homework in the sun for several hours. However, I had to go in around 4:00 because I narrowly escaped a run-in with a skunk. Ewwy. It was kind of funny really. We live back in the woods and I had gone back by my grandmother’s house which is even deeper in the woods beside ours (she isn’t staying there right now, she’s a fancy nursing home). Well, I had been sitting on a giant stump in the middle of her yard and I had already been interrupted several times by a few friendly neighborhood feral felines. Suddenly I hear a crashing in the woods across the lawn and I look up to see this large black shape running out of the trees. I thought it was one of the cats at first because one of them is huge, black and furry. But I realized it wasn’t when I noticed it’s lumbering gait. The tell tale stripe on it’s head sent little alarm bells through my brain. “Oh SNAP! PLEASE don’t let it come over here. Invisible. I am INVISABLE. Oh no. OH NO!” It came so close that I was afraid to breathe. The instant it disappeared into my grandmother’s bushes a few yards away I bolted.

  36. Alice says:

50 degrees inside? That’s pretty cold, I guess, but not that bad. We usually keep our house around 60, but we used to live in a house heated solely by space heaters, and that was cold. Then we lived in a house with a woodstove, which was also very chilly until it was engulfed in flames, and now we live in a house with electric heat (gasp!). Pretty coon we’re moving, though, and we’ll have oil heating, so we’ll probably go back to space heaters mostly.

  50. Luna the Lovely says:

    weather today at school=nasty.

It’s pouring rain, 40 degrees, and not only am I (well, was, I just changed) completely drenched, my jeans soaked entirely through from mid thigh down, my sweathsirt soaked, my shoes completely water logged (and were during my entire english class–I was freezing during it), and my backpack all wet (fortunately it’s plasticy, so the main portion is dry, so my notebooks aren’t destroyed), but the weather also just has to have big unexpectged gusts of winds when you go through streets between buildings (like little narrower ones that are shortcuts to get back to your room), even though when you look outside it’s just a light breeze, and so now not only am I soaking wet, but by god cursed umbrella is busted beyond repair, because the idiots who make umbrellas are too bloody incompetent to make an umbrella that is not destroyed when it gets blown inside out. I mean, c’mon, how hard can it be to make the litle metal cross pieces not quite so flimsy that they bend, and to make the joints so they can bend the opposite direction when caught by a gust of wind, but still keep their shape the rest of the time? It really can’t be that hard. Probably make ’em so poorly so everybody has to buy a new umbrella after every other use of it!!!!!!! I swear, this is only around the third time I’ve used the blasted thing.

So, yeah. It’s pouring rain still, I’ve probably got more worms smashed on the bottom of my shoes than I want to think about, and I no longer have an umbrella (not that it was dong much good), and am soaking wet. With no dry shoes. Except a pair of new tennies, not what i am giong to wear in the rain. I think i’m just going to wear my flipflops–it’s not like my feet can get any wetter in them, and at least my feet’ll not be encased in wetness during my next class in them.

*is very, very irritated* Maybe my raincoat (which I will dig out of my closet–it wasn’t raining when I went to class this morning, but it was when I got done with my first class, sans umbrella–I stopped at my dorm after eating breakfast at a cafeteria, cuz my dorm was closer than my next class, and i thought it might actually be helpful. And then on the way back from english it killed itself) will manage to keep my upper body semi dry……

I have a bit of SAD, I get slightly miserable during the spring and summer, but winter really cheers me up….
I wish we actually HAD winter here… I moved to Southeast Asia a few months ago and there’s not more than a 1-degree difference with the seasons here….
the SAD is kind of permanent here, but that may just be because I hate this place.
Where I used to live, we had this massive rainstorm that went on for about a month….actually, a few weeks ago, here in Asia we had this huge monsoon-thingy and the entire district around my school flooded- cars were driving through water up to the wheel-well, and pedestrians were wading barefoot across what they estimated to be the sidewalk… everyone was coming to school completely soaked and the school was basically turned into a large puddle. We still have a rather large amount of mold left over in the lockers…
