Off With Their Heads! The Origins and Culture of HPBs

Begun as a discussion on HPB Culture #2, this thread attempts to solve the mystery of what came between the bunnies and their bodies, along with the social, psychological, and cultural developments subsequent to the lagomorphic intercision.

  1. Oob, pwner of Tupisodaloric Groves and resident Musiverse Creature Expert (gnome specialist), alter ego of Prarilius Canix says:

Canix has handed over this project to me.
HPBs are found everywhere in the Musiverse, but there seems to be nowhere that they originated. At least, nowhere we’ve been able to find. If we locate their homeland, it will probably give us enormous insights. But where to start?

[Not quite. For future reference, ¡ICBF!, “first post” posts tend to be zapped unless they contain something else besides. So I’ve copied and added your comment from the previous thread. –Rebecca]

Apparently, HPBs start out as anthropormorphic (humanlike) creatures that can come in many shades of pink and purple. However, as time goes on, their head somehow detatches and they become evil and powerful creatures. The question is: Why is it that their head falls off?

  5. ¡ICBF! says:

According to Capricious’s pictures, HPBs seem to start out with a more benevolent nature. When their head *shudders* falls off, however, they become manevolent and mind-controling. Maybe it is some evolutionary advantage that, at the loss of their body, gives them evil powers.

  6. Sweet Melpomene says:

Perhaps they simply came into being, such as the Specters in HDM, when the cat/dog war began. Each utterance of each side created these beings to forever remind us of the petty discord in our world….

I see now why the editors chose them, in their diembodied head form, to stop the dog/cats war. Their hypnotic powers made readers forget the dispute and fall in love with HPBs. BEWARE THE BUNNY!

HPBs are rare creatures. One day, a normal bunny stumbled(or fell into) a jar of pink paint. When flopped out, he fell asleep. When he woke up, he found a time machine. He activated it and turned up smack in the french revolution, where he was sentenced to the gullintine for no particular reason. Strangely, the head survives in the pages of Muse! BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10, 12- We must not let the HPBs behavior interfere with our research.

When the bunnies have their bodies, they appear to act civilized and sane. However, when their heads are cut off, they turn into the evil monsters we see now. This may be because they are seperated from their heart when their head pops off, and they become, of course, heartless monsters. Does that make any sense to you?

  14. ¡ICBF! says:

Sorry for double posting, but I have a theory for the orgins of HPBs: They may come from a large island somewhere in the Muse world, and on this island they are civilized and have clothing, cities, and the ability to screw a lightbulb. They prefer to remain unknown and isolated. However, several HPBs lost their heads (literally) and left HPB island. They banded together and set out to rule the world by turning everyone into cheerful zombie slaves .

We have several evil HPB containment chambers, made of the strongest glass which we can study them through. Presently, the evil HPBs are bouncing off the walls in the chambers and baring their *shudders* fangs at me. Whatever you do, DON’T LET THEM OUT! 23- Yes, they may have once been normal bunnies that were experimented on by some crazy scientists who wanted to make animals able to think and talk. The experiment was a partial success, as we now have those intelligent “nicegoodus” bunnies. However, something went wrong with one group of bunnies and they became evil, fanged monsters. However, this does not explain their eccentric hue or the fact that the evil bunnies have no bodies.

I know where the first  s came from. 1 word: Wonderland. That’s right. Anyhoo, here is my tale.
Once upon a time, tons of little magenta rabbits hopped around the courtyards of the Queen of Hearts’s palace. All was peaceful until, one day, the queen just got tired of seeing pink. She had every one of them beheaded. (This is where I come in.) I came along and was mortified to see millions of little pink heads and bodies surrounded by little scarlet pools of blood. (Here’s the GOOD part.) I used my mistic otherworldly powers to bring the bunnies back to life. I couldn’t reattach the heads, and they couldn’t survive very long without bodies, so I sent them to the many fields of Cyberspace. Big mistake. Now, not only do they infest Museblog, but somehow they also found their way into Muse’s database and infest Muse mag’s fan mail pages and some other areas too.

The bunnies have outgrown their bodies, and now consist of just a hot pink head. They subsist on beliefs that they exist. This explains the fact that they have invaded Muse to survive. At the current belief statistics, they will overrun the Earth in no time flat. We must construct HPB-shelters. The shelters will be made purely of HPB-colored “Peep’s” marshmallows. The HPBs despise these tasty treats, and will avoid them.

GAPAs, can you please stop? This is my HPB understanding:
The HPBs were created to blank out letters involving cats and dogs. Because only their heads were depicted, the common misconception of headless bunnies arose. After it was discovered that in fact, the bunnies do have heads, who should start a myth that they become headless but the GAPAs!! The HPBs have never done anything evil. Only people have caused them to do bad things. In writing, HPBs should be evil or good depending on the bunny.
l am ashamed at how prejudice my fellow MBers, including the GAPAs have been. When Kagy posted her heartwarming tales, people thought something awful would happen to the human. Tell me this: is this an appropriate response from a magazine dedicated to diversity?

  191. groundhog22 says:

When you say headlessness, does that mean how they do it without dying? (Because we already know why they do it, they do it to bunnify/zombify people.) I have an idea about it though. I think that their heads have a rudimentary circulation and energy storage system, so that when they detach their heads, they have something to keep their heads alive. Their bodies just sit there because, similar to chickens and snakes, their bodies can stay alive for some time without signals from the brain. As for how the heads float, I noticed something when I was studying the bunnies. When they detached their heads, they seemed to be using their ears as steering devices, as opposed to flapping them to get airborne. I also noticed that they seemed to be gulping air all the time, which puzzled me, since their lungs were still in their bodies. Then I realized that they were gulping air and forcing it out through their windpipes, which in the absence of a body were just open at the ends. This allowed them to float around like hovercrafts. However, all of this takes a lot of energy, so they can’t keep their heads detached for too long.

As for where they came from before they invaded the statements about cats and dogs, and later everything else, I have no clue. Any ideas people?

Whoa, we have a breakthrough!! Awesome work, IBCF!!! (sorry I can’t do the cool letters) I wonder how so many varieties of HPB developed. I mean, there’s helicopter bunnies, body-absorbing bunnies, head-detaching bunnies, etc. etc. My guess is that they eat radioactive materials, which not only contributes to their day-glo pink color and hypnofication/zombification/bunnification abilities, but also allows them to mutate surprisingly quickly.
