In 2009 we used the Random Thread themes to observe a year of random celebrations. For 2010, as noted on Anchors Aweigh post zero, we are traveling to different eras or events in history. We have some ideas in mind, but we’re open to suggestions. Let us know when/where you’d like to visit.

Continued from 2009.
Thank you, MuseBlog!
…for all the lovely birthday wishes, pies, hugs, chocolate HPBs, and sundry presents virtual and/or invisible. You really made my day! As you so often do. Indeed, I feel sorry for adults who don’t have the chance to be GAPAs.
As long as I’m at it, let me add how much I appreciate your many comments about my graphics. There are few pleasures more satisfying than to make art for people who enjoy it with the same spirit in which it was created. As far as I’m concerned, you are the real Muses (but please don’t tell the others, I do need their continued cooperation).
Now before I become impossibly and irretrievably sappy, I can add only this
As ever, yours faithfully,
Rebecca, Lady Bunniful

Happy Winter 2009-10, Everybody!
Winter officially began in the Northern Hemisphere (summer in the Southern Hemisphere) today at 17:47 Universal Time or 11:47 a.m. MuseBlog Time (which happens to coincide with Central Time, in honor of Muse‘s home base in Chicago).

Muse Academy 2009 Holiday Party Gift Tree
Place your presents under or on the gift tree for the Gift Exchange.
Note: this thread is only for posting gifts. All other comments or discussion should be on the Holiday Party thread. When it’s time to reveal the contents, they will be posted here as well.
Describe the outside appearance of your gift. (Wrapping paper, size, general shape, what it sounds like when shaken…however you’d like to describe it.)
Suggestion: make sure you keep track of your gift and its description, so you don’t risk forgetting what you gave.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Regarding “Welcome, Neophytes”
We have cleared the thread of comments in order to start afresh. Note that we mean what we say in the part of the introduction that states “MuseBlog Veterans: Please use this thread only to welcome newcomers as they arrive and answer questions that they ask.” In other words, do not post on the thread unless you are replying to a neophyte. If the thread stays empty, don’t worry about it.
Thank you.
The Management
Muse Academy Holiday Party 2009
Welcome, dear friends, to our winter celebration! (Or summer should you be visiting from the Southern Hemisphere.) Find your way to the Grand Hall, up that slight rise over there, just follow the row of wrought-iron street lamps to the main door. Shake off the snow, leave your greatcoats, cloaks, and capes with the attendant. Take a moment to warm yourself by the fire and breathe deeply the mingling scents of cinnamon, chocolate, bayberry, and pine; linger; absorb; note the wandering hints of ginger and peppermint before entering the ballroom to behold such sights…. Oh, but pardon me, I am detaining you here in the cold when you must be eager to thaw yourselves in cozier surroundings. Go, then, and enjoy the sundry delights waiting to greet the fullness of your senses as you step into our Victorian wonderland…
The festivities last until the New Year. For more information, please see the Holiday Party Planning Thread.
New Signature Items Now Available
They’re up! Check them out at Muse-ry Loves Company. The main section contains items with the signature design only. The sub-sections have other designs on the front and signatures on the back. If you have specific requests let us know. Unfortunately, dark t-shirts cannot be printed on the back, so two-sided items are available only in light colors.

You Know You’re Addicted to X When You Y, v. 2009.2
An ever-popular and flourishing thread:
Chokoholics, video-game addicts, manga fiends — tell us how you know when you’ve crossed the line.
Continued from version 2009.1.
Hot Topics, v. 2009.4
This thread is a place for careful, clear, respectful discussions of difficult topics. It is not a place for having two-fisted no-holds-barred discussions.
MBers should be able to express their opinions without attacking others personally, and be able to listen to people who disagree with them without feeling personally attacked.
Easier said than done, of course. But MuseBlog is a good place to practice trying.

Our Reclusive Gardens, Part 3
This online daydream started with a comment by oxlin:
Bah. I’m sick of society. I want to go live in a shack somewhere with Teal and not pollute and eat mushrooms and herbs we gather and carrots we grow and draw and write and be happy.
For the benefit of those who weren’t around then, here is the conversation that followed, leading to the creation of the original thread: Continue reading “Our Reclusive Gardens, Part 3”

As the days dwindle down to a precious few, the Random Thread ends the month with a headlong (or at any rate, face-forward) plunge into darkness. Continue reading “International Darkness Appreciation Month, Part 3”
International Darkness Appreciation Month, Part 2
Fireworks, neon, strings of decorative lights at holidays…they need the darkness to make their colors glow to their fullest splendor. Part 2 of the October Random Thread continues our salute to the brighter side of darkness. Continue reading “International Darkness Appreciation Month, Part 2”
