  1. First post? Anyway, I think we need a Lego thread. Only one thing like it (the February IMC) has ever come on the blog, and as a devoted Lego fan, I think Legos (incorrect pluralization) deserve their own thread.

  2. Copied from previous thread…

Alright, I have two ideas for RPGs that have been bouncing around in my head for a while. (Actually, they’ve been bouncing around in text files on my computer, but whatever.) Here they are.

This first one was thought up more recently.

    Basic Plot:
Aliens from across the universe send some of their number to earth, collecting information, to send back to their planets.

    Complex Background:
Centuries ago, the denizens of the planet Melthos invented a way to move quickly through space. They used their knowledge to begin to explore the universe, sharing their technology. However, although the Melthosians were peaceful, the other planets were not so much so. After many horrible wars involving the technologies of tens of planets, the Melthosians gathered representatives from all the planets, and formed the InterPlanetary Federation. Thousands of planets were discovered, and all sent representatives to the Federation. Finally, they happened upon another planet. Something told them this one was different. After a meeting of the Federation, they decided against contact. However, several of them secretly sent off spies, disguised as humans, to find more about this strange race. The first thing they discovered was the strange name of the planet. Earth…

This one was made up more then a year ago, for Neopets roleplayers, which are, needless to say, quite different from MBers. I never posted it, and it probably needs quite a bit of refinement.

    Setting:
The kingdom of Celestia. There are four cities, plus one in ruins. They are arranged in a circle/square thing, with the biggest one in the center. The ones around it represent Art, Knowledge, and War. The fifth one was destroyed long ago, and no one knows what it once represented. However, these do not concern us right now. Our story takes place in the main one, which has residents from all the other cities. It has all sorts of things in it, with all the other cities combined in one. Everywhere you look you can see warriors practicing, artists doing art, and scholars learning. There’s even a few people from the forgotten fifth city. But not even they know anything about it.

    Input?

    1. I really like that kingdom of Celestia idea. I can see it set in a medival time period …

  3. A (Tall) Ships thread! I can’t believe we don’t have one already, but I can’t find one.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. I really should have been more specific. How ’bout a thread about making films, writing screenplays, etc.?

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
  4. Okay, who else thinks a good way to combine our “60s/space race” idea with the Halloween Ball would be to give the ball a Twilight Zone theme?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. If the GAPAs would allow a theme based on a specific thing (as they are not oft wont to do (see requests for Harry Potter RPG)), I would adore that.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. If you have an alternate theme idea, tell us and we can debate it. We’re open to suggestions.

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
        1. I’m sorry, but I don’t actually have any. I’m just not really into the whole Twilight Zone thing…. But honestly, if other MBers like it, I’m fine with it, seeing as I don’t exactly have any better suggestions. *shakes head with a sigh*

          Pie 0
          Squid 0
      1. I believe it is a television, Scifi show. That is possibly rerally creepy? I’m not sure…. I’ve never seen it, so I may be completely wrong.

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
      2. It was a black and white 50s/60s Science Fiction television series that was famous for mixing insights into human nature with creepy supernatural themes.

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
  5. Would anyone be interested in a realistic fiction RPG? I don’t have any specific ideas, but it might be fun.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Well, the Romantic Musical Comedy thread is realistic fiction and it did pretty well, but we need a revival. Maybe we could do a spin-off about where the actors/dancers/others worked previously, and how they met.

      *daydreams about thread idea*

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. Okay, before we go to any spin-off ideas, we need to get this thread revived. I think we should continue to try, but I don’t expect any revival until school starts. That’s when people start procastinating doing their homework by RPing their other lives as a dramatic actress/actor. It can be quite relieving.

        Pie 0

  6. Maybe a thread of origins of Muserly things for newer bloggers? If anyone gets new information or questions for experts, they can go there too. I know I really would like to know more about wungs without digging through tons of old threads. and HPBs … and the pie wars … and Mr. Joe … and Muse Academy …

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Yes, not all of us know why hpbs became attached to MuseBlog.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
    2. That sounds like a good idea! I was confused by many things when I first entered the world of MB. Still am, in fact…

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
        1. I see! I am used to being confuzzled all the time, even in non-MB areas, so it’s not really a change from being anywhere else. :)

  7. New manga thread? The one that we’re using is from 2007, so let’s just say it’s a bit out-dated. I don’t go on that often, but I think other musers would like it.

    Squid 0
    1. Ha! That was fast! I just took a gander at the “Recent Posts,” and there it was.

      Pie 0

  8. We need to have a thread exclusively for the Beatles. I know we have a Music thread…

but this is the BEATLES we’re talking about here.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  9. Yes, we are definitely in need of a beatles thread. Also how about a thread to write about our worst/best experiences?

      1. It’s a thread, similar to the Cleverbot Thread for discussing Translation Party, a new site many MBers are visiting, the spaceified version of which can be found below.

  10. I have an odd thread idea. There could be a Conspiracy Theories thread, which would be a parody of sorts. We could combine different conspiracy theories into an “Ultimate Conspiracy Theory” For example, “the Iluminatti assassinated Kennedy”, etc. It could take the form of an RPG or something else.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
      1. That would be AWESOME! I’ve put quite a lot of thoughts into conspiracy theories. I could post all of them! Yay!

  11. 7 (KaiYves) and replies: Why have a theme at all? Why not just let everyone dress as they want, creating an enchanting and surreal atmosphere?

Certainly, when we are ready to plan, we can decide on a theme for decor, but I don’t think we should dictate costumes.

“And now, for something completely different”…

I have several a ton of requests for threads:

1: A new Cooking and Food thread. The current one was created in March 2008 and was last posted on in December of the same year.

2: A new Plays/Acting/Theatre thread. The current one was created in September of 2007 and was last posted on in January of this year.

3: A new Homeschooling thread. The last one, titled as “Homeschoolers”, was also created in September of 2007. It has not been posted on since April of this year.

4: A new installment of Ship’s Logs. It’s rather active, but it was created in November, and it has 234 somewhat long posts.

5: A new Books and Reading thread. It has 597 posts !

May we please have these threads, O Great And Powerful Administrators?

P.S. Thanks for reading and considering all my requests. I know I’m asking for a lot at one time.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. I only suggested it because some people wanted a way to have a 60s-themed party, and I thought Twilight Zone was a good combination of 1960s and Halloween.

But we don’t have to have a theme.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
  12. Could somebody please just look at my ideas? I posted them at the top of this thread, more than a week ago! If you don’t like either of them, post that. It’ll hurt less then being ignored. I put a lot of thought into those ideas, and I’d love it if they were used. They might not be, and I recognize this. But could somebody acknowledge that I posted them? When I posted them, I thought that there would be a onslaught of ‘I love it’ like all the other role play ideas. I gave up on that ages ago. Now I just want to have some reply to my idea. Please?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Those look like good ideas, but 1) as anyone on the Chatterbox will tell you, I’m an awful roleplayer, as I always end up dropping out and 2) I really can’t follow stories where there are no names like Sarah, James, or Michael. Nothing against fantasy and sci-fi – that’s just my own personal quirk!

  13. GAPA’s, we have a bit of a dilemma. Right now the Chronicles of Museica thread is dead, and a new one would be nice. However, it seems like the past threads (Yes, I’ve looked the older ones up!) have become an endless cycle of posting bills, trying to solve problems, posting more bills, trying to solve more problems, etc. I’m afraid that if you create a new thread the cycle will just continue even more viciously and then become dead again quickly, with many hopeless attempts to revive it. I’m not really sure whether a new one would be good or not, but I’d like to bring the matter to the attention of you and my fellow musers. Any thoughts? Anyone for/against another thread to continue Museica? I would like some feedback, and possibly from someone who was more involved in Museica then I was. Help!

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  14. So Errata and I were talking (for like the first time EVER) on the Empowered RPG. And we like, oh wouldn’t it be great if we could revive this but we can’t oh woe is us. :(

    Errata
I’ll go convince people that a new RPW is in order, then. We decided that the AH one was too focused on the tentative plot, and not enough on the AH aspect. And, there was absolutely no characterization going on. But a new one could be fun.

    Alice
…I think I might be too shy, in a way, to come in and really contribute. But I can try, if we have a new one. And everyone states their character and makes sure that it isn’t a Mary Sue, and I have someone to write to.

    Errata
Now we just need an idea of what it’s about. Or we could make it up as we go along…
    I’m thinking a medieval-ish setting, maybe?

    Alice
Medieval would be OK, except that if we were to be remotely authentic, none of us would know how to write. I’m fond of 19th century settings myself. I think I had a medieval phase a really long time ago, and got over it, but we could do it if you’d really like to.

    Alice
I have a character (a Victorian one, but I can modify her to fit into a different time period if necessary) and a First Post with Helpful Rules and Guidelines. Now, we need to decide the setting and we can start, right? -hopeful grin-

We might need votes. I’ll post on the Suggestion box.

So here I am. Who’s up for it?

    Pie 0

  15. -gazes hopefully at the GAPAs-

This will be good, because I’ll get to know all the people that I don’t know because I’ve never done an RRR with them. :D

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  16. 30.1- Hm. I was thinking “RPW, Again”, but that’s not very informative either.

All right, perhaps we should settle some things like the time period before getting the new thread. And maybe the genre (I was assuming fantasy, how about everyone else?)

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  17. I vote for the new RPW! And I’d really enjoy the chance to create a character that I won’t hate a few months from now.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  18. 35- Role-Playing Writing. It’s sort of like an RPG, but the characters all communicate through letters. The first one was back in 2007 and went on for five threads before dying from cliches, Mary Sues, and lack of characters. There have been a couple of them since, but none of them lasted very long.

  19. I think we need (if possible) a smiley for banging you head against the desk (henceforth known as headesk).

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. If we add a smiley, we have to take away another smiley, which I highly doubt will happen, as we’ve already taken away three of the original WordPress smilies. People will miss the smilies they’ve been using already. Such as the arrow and the !, which had to be removed to make room for  and :!: .

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. Why do you have to replace a smiley when you add a new one? Is that a WordPress feature or just a MB rule? Also, why are there two pie smileys? We only need one, right?

(Please correct me if I’m wrong on anything mentioned here. I’m no expert on these topics!)

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
        1. SFTDP

Sorry, I should really re-word the first sentence in the above post. I meant to write:

Why do you have to take away a smiley when you add a new one?

I don’t know why I said replace instead of take away, sorry.

          Pie 0
          Squid 0
        2. It’s a WordPress thing. There are two pie smileys because different situations require different throwing techniques. In other words, we couldn’t make up our minds which one to use, so we chose two from the designs Piggy sent us.

          Pie 0
          Squid 0
  20. Dream thread, to recount the crazy stories we dream up (pun intended, ha ha ha). Note: not for interpretation, but just to amuse.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  21. I think the “Don’t Forget These Threads” thread should go away. It just doesn’t seem to be worth all the space it takes up on the main page–for example, today is the last day of August, and August’s DFTT thread has yet to be updated. People rarely adhere to the 4-5 requests at a time rule, it’s a lot of work for the GAPAs, and it’s never really used.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  22. The drawback to relying on the search bar is that it’s hard to search for something you don’t know exists.

What about making it just a regular thread where you can alert people to stuff they might not know about (or make reminders for yourselves for that matter)? That won’t take up extra space or create extra work.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. I think that’s more or less what the DFTT had become, though disused. That sounds good to me.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
  23. I found a similar idea to this on another forum:

At some point, conditions on Earth will make the planet an undesirable place to live. Luckily, us Musers will have planned ahead and built ourselves a floating city. The thread is for designing and discussing the city, similar to the “Mostly Harmless Theme Park” thread.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Cool! Let’s try it! (Or, a colony on Mars/Enceladus)

We could even do a roleplay as MB settlers on Enceladus. I’d volunteer. I also volunteer AM.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
        1. Yeah, designing would be cool. but, I wouldn’t have much to do. except for make science experiments for the people.

          Pie 0
          Squid 0
    2. I’d join. I’ve always wanted to design a city and satisfy my inner architect. But I agree- no more roleplaying!!

  25. Shared Scripts/Stories? You write something and have another MBer partner with you for the writing of the script/story.

    …I’ve got my reasons.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. I’m sure you do. ;)

We could probably do that on Partial Scripts and/or BiP. Want to start another random MB Fanfic together? It would make things rather simpler for me. *is trying very hard not to rip off anyone’s ideas*

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. You can rip off me!

Either we start another fanfic that combines our ideas, or we rewrite each other’s scripts to make them better…

        I vote for option two.

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
          1. Let’s do it, then! I’ll start rewriting yours now (shouldn’t take that long because your writing is epic), and you rewrite mine (which should take a while) and we post the results.

            Pie 0
            Squid 0
  26. Heh. This may be stupid, so other MBers say if you like this idea. There should be a bunny shirt in Musery Loves Company that says, “Don’t worry, I’m Nicegoodus” on the back.
    So… Stupid? Fun?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
          1. If a dark adult t-shirt of the “Classic Bunny” variety could be made, I would double that figure. It appears Lady B has been too busy to remember my request.

            Pie 0
            Squid 0

  27. Piggy, I’ve added dark t-shirt choices to the “Classic Bunny” on CaféPress. Sorry it took so long. I really hadn’t forgotten (just remembered at inconvenient times), but I had to upload a new image since the original wouldn’t work with dark colors.

  29. An angst thread. Not like Rants and Complaints, but where we can just let out all the sad things. Sad, instead of angry.

Sorry, my typing’s atrocious at 1:22 AM.

    Pie 0

  30. I think we need a “Shops” thread.

On the Shops thread, you could:
    discuss any kind of shop,
discuss clothes from that shop on,
and so on and so on…

I’d really like something like that. It should likely be called the “Fashion” thread…ooh! A Fashion thread!

In a Fashion thread, we would discuss fashion. End of story.
Clothes we like, clothes we’re thinking of buying, clothes other people wear that are extremely strange…

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. A fashion thread would be interesting, although I don’t know much about it, nor do I have any of it. Maybe a style thread would be better. Fashion is what’s popular overall in the world, and style is an individual’s take on clothes or anything else really!!

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
    1. YES. Maim That Song. I have a hilarious parody of Love Story that, er, rather maims it. :D

And Fashion thread! That’d be awesome! Oh, and Angst thread, too. I could really use that.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. Ohmigod! We really do need a Maim That Song thread!

I think we should make a BA theme song compilation by editing song lyrics, but that’s neither here or there.

        FASHION. Yeah.
I volunteer for the position of active member! :D

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
  31. 56.1- This wouldn’t be the ‘Hate Story’ you posted on the above-mentioned Song Parodies thread, would it? I loved that one.

Also, GAPAs, the 2008 MuseBlog Signatures appears to be mislabeled as 2009. I freaked out when I noticed that, assuming I’d missed 2009’s signup last weekend, since I couldn’t imagine when else it could have been. But everything in that category is labeled 2008, and there’s no 2008 category.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Why, thank you! Yes, it would be that one. Is it maimed enough for you? ;)

Perhaps the GAPAs could rename the Parody thread?

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
  32. Since we can’t have threads exclusively for song groups, how about an “Influential Bands” thread? We could discuss the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and other bands that shaped today’s music.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
          1. But then, by your same logic, Harry Potter is a relatively ordinary book series. Yet we not only have a thread for discussing HP, we have a trivia thread for it.
            *thinks*
OK, on second thought if we can’t have a Beatles/Influential Bands thread, can we at least have a Beatles trivia thread?

            Pie 0
            Squid 0
                1. Forty years ago, very possibly. But we haven’t seen any evidence that’s likely to happen now. There’s no reason you can’t start a conversation on the Music thread. If it gets so popular no one can squeeze another word in edgewise, we can take another look.

                  Pie 0
                  Squid 0
  33. Speaking of which, GAPAs, when are we doing the next MuseBlog Signatures thing? The past two have been in June and August. Admittedly, the first was in December, but still… When?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  34. GAPAs, I noticed that when I typed in “romance and relationships” into the search box, the one that comes up is the 2009.4 version, not the 2009.5 version. Much as I like to give my index finger exercise by doing extra clicking, I was rather puzzled. Or maybe there’s something wrong with my server, but I just thought you might want to know. :-)

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  40. I have no idea what the reaction to this will be, but could we have a thread where we could speculate what goes in those former MBers lives who have left our spot of paradise? For example, they could have been carried away by HPB’s! Or maybe joined an anti-Kokonspiracy group…the possibilities are endless. (We could also have some more serious and logical speculations as well as funny and unrealistic ones!)

      1. Musers are never stupid, soccer starr, they just may not be familiar with a certain term. :-) An oxymoron is “a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction,” according to the dictionary on my computer. For example, jumbo shrimp.

  43. I don’t know if this is a good idea or not, but it did run across my mind today as I was talking with some friends in English class.

You know all those ideas you have for stories, books, etc that you really want to see written but can’t manage to get off the ground? We could have a thread where someone posts a premise for a story (in as great or little detail as en wants) and someone else writes a story based on that premise.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. The writer’s notebook thread is similar. I think the quotations thread is full and slowing down…. all in favor of a new one?

      Pie 0

  44. I third Zinc’s idea in comment 53-
An angst thread. Not like Rants and Complaints, but where we can just let out all the sad things. Sad, instead of angry.

Seems like all of us could use this at some point.

  45. How about a thread for arguing? Not about anything serious, just silly things, like whether fluffy pens are better than non-fluffy pens.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Ha ha, I already have a lot of arguing in my life, but that’s a good idea! Although we do debate pretty much everywhere on else on the blog already, but a designated place to do so would be helpful.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
    2. Do you think fluffy pens are better than non-fluffy pens? Fluffy pens as in those bizarre fuzzy things that barely resemble writing utensils, or the kind with fluffy tails? Or the ones that resemble animals due to their excessive fluffiness?

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. The kind with fluff on the top. I have two of them. Both of them are yellow. One has a ladybug on a spring on top, and the other one has a duck. Obviously, I like them.

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
    3. I second the request. But we’d have to keep the arguments non-serious – if religion, politics, or ethics were involved, it would turn into the Hot Topics thread.
      Some stuff to argue about:
      Harry Potter or Percy Jackson?
      Harry Potter or Twilight?
      Chocolate vs. vanilla cake.
      Google vs. Yahoo.

Speaking of websites, how about a My Life Is Average thread? We can talk about funny, ironic, average things that happened to us. Like this:
“Today, in class a girl asked what was making a ticking noise. Without missing a beat my teacher starts going ‘Snape, Snape, Severus Snape’. My principal, who was walking by and heard, stuck his head in the door and yelled ‘DUMBLEDORE!’ I love my school.”

“Two days ago on Halloween, a little boy dressed as a spork came trick-or-treating at my house. After giving him candy, I saw him run to his parents, who were dressed as a fork and a spoon.”

“Today, instead of working on my application to Stanford, I taught my dog to respond to Harry Potter spells. He now stays when I yell, ‘Petrificus Totalus,’ comes when I say, ‘Accio,’ and plays dead when I yell ‘Avada Kedavra.’ I feel that this was an acceptable substitute of my time.”

  51. How about a Google vs. Yahoo War thread? Basically, you type phrases into both Google and Yahoo, and see what suggestions it gives you. Then you post the funniest one from each, and judge who wins.
    Example:
    Type in: “i like”
Google: “i like to tape my thumbs to my hands to see what it would be like to be a dinosaur”
Yahoo: “i like to move it”
Google wins this round. BONUS: Google also had “i like to think of jesus as a mischievous badger”. Double points.

      Type: “in the future”
Yahoo provides “computers in the future”
Google provides “in the future will thinking critically influence the ways that you…”
      Winner: Inconclusive.

      Type: “millions of”
      Yahoo provides “millions of peaches”
      Google provides “millions of milkshakes”
      Winner: Inconclusive.

      Type: “pies are”
Yahoo provides “ding pies are done”

    3. What about people who belong to the Church of Google? They can’t search with Yahoo…
Maybe if I use Google first, and then Yahoo, and don’t actually search with Yahoo, just look at the suggestions…
I checked the commandments, and it says I can “have no other Search Engine before me”, so if I use Google first, I’ll be fine, but it also says “come to Google only for answers”…
If I’m not coming to it for answers, then I guess it’s okay…
((GAPAs, this contains a slight drug reference, I’m not sure if it’s okay to post, just snip it if you think you should.))
      GOOGLE
      “What if god smoked cannabis”

  61. Would there be a way for the GAPA’s to put a small symbol or color next to the threads to show which one’s have are active/dead. By dead, we could set a specific guideline (For example, 6 months with no posts.) or something of that like. It would make it much easier to keep track of the various threads. I’m not sure if this is even possible on a WordPress, but just an idea…

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  62. (103, 106, 107) Threads are “open” or “closed” depending on whether they allow comments or not. Beyond that, “dead” is largely a matter of opinion.

Threads have sprung back into action when rediscovered months later, often by new MBers. The most dramatic example was the original Vegetarian thread which went dormant with only 156 comments in July 2006. The next post didn’t appear until June of the following year — and then went to 400 comments within two months. A book on a shelf isn’t “dead” simply because it isn’t being read at that precise moment.

That said, I don’t know of any practical way we could designate how active a thread is. The “What’s Here” and “Recent Posts” lists are software-generated. As a general rule, we close threads only when they’re superseded by the next entry in the series. Also, on a very few occasions we’ve closed threads that turned into spam magnets. (The majority of threads older than April 2007 are also closed because of a technicality involved with the reopening of the blog after the bunny takeover.)

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Okay… But is there anyway of removing the threads with comments turned off from the lists of threads under each category? It’s really hard to find active but older threads when they’re under countless newer but un-commentable birthday or Romance threads, for instance.

And this thread, the hot topics thread, and the you know you’re addicted to x when y threads are all getting annoyingly large.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. We usually remove birthday announcements after a few days. I just took down two more. As for the rest of your comment, I’m not sure I understand. If you’re using Categories to navigate, birthday threads and the like shouldn’t even show up except under Birthdays. Again, those lists are automatically generated, and removing closed threads would defeat the purpose of having an archive.

Sometimes it’s easier to find threads through “What’s Here?” Do you use bookmarks and/or tabs? We’re always looking for means of improving navigation, but we’re up against architectural limitations. Maybe some other MBers can suggest ways they use to sort things out.

A couple of those threads you mentioned could definitely use new editions. We’ll make them when we get a chance. Meanwhile, if you use Ctrl+End, Page Up and Page Down, or other keyboard shortcuts, you can navigate through long threads pretty easily.

  64. Maybe you could have a thread that lists active MBers and where they live so it would be easier to arrange possible Kokonventions rather than always asking, ‘Wait, where do you live again?’ or ‘Does anyone live near _____?’ Then people who want to Kokon could just check the thread to see who it would be possible to do it with (ie near their vicinity)
Sort of like the lists of who’s posted how much, and the calendar/birthday list, I guess.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Good idea, but that would take quite a bit of work and a lot of compiling…still that’s something worth looking into I think, as long as it’s not mandatory to be put on the list. (For example, I probably wouldn’t be allowed to go to a Kokon so I wouldn’t want to be on the list.)

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
  65. This idea was on an old thread, proposed by someone else, but I thought I should bring it up again.

What if we rated threads like we do movies? The thread’s rating would be posted at the top of the thread, and any comments above the rating would be snipped.
    G: Appropriate for anyone.
PG: Somewhat higher than G. Completely self-censored swearing (example: #%$@), religious and political discussions, and references to non-G-rated books and movies.
PG-13: Partially censored or acronymed swearing, more intense Hot Topics debates (like gay marriage or abortion), and basically anything above PG rating. To get onto these threads, you would have to email the GAPAs confirming you’re a certain age or something.

    Anyone like the idea?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. I like the idea of rating the threads as a warning to some of the younger MBers (Myself included.) when some “touchy” subjects might be brought up, but I don’t like the idea of having to e-mail the GAPA’s to confirm a certain age. Not only would it be a lot more work for the GAPA’s, it would completely change the freedom of MB. In some cases, yes, only allowing certain people over a certain age to enter a thread is a good idea. But in most, I think that we should just leave it at a rating of some sort.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
  66. Agreed, soccer starr. isn’t there someone on here who is 9? So maybe their parents might not want them to go on the Hot Topics thread. It’s getting intense on there! I know MY parents wouldn’t have wanted me to be on that thread when i was 9…

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Yes. I think a rating is a good idea because it’s like a formal warning, but when it comes down to it I think the MBer should have the freedom of making that final choice of whether they’re going to read/participate in the thread. What do the GAPA’s think?

      Pie 0

  68. A RPG thread. Not a RPG, rather, a place to talk about RPGs, on blog and off. I’m sure we have some D&D players out there in the listening reading audience. Also a place to list all the RPGs on the blog and the latest threads since we have… How many now?

    1. And… I just found the RPG Discussion Thread that POSOC started.
Doh. We used almost the exact same language… But I can’t remember that that thread ever existed.

  69. We should totally have an Oxymoron thread!!! Where we list great oxymorons….such as “health dessert” or “dry wetlands.” Or it could be an Oxymorons and Redundancies thread, like….”playful fun” or “you’re so stupid and you’re an idiot”! Please, GAPAs, please?

  70. Could we have a thread devoted to the settings, characters and plots that we’ve dreampt up over the years but haven’t yet put into a tangible peice of writing?

  72. Since our Magic RPG is a small phenomenon, can we build on that success with an Elemental Magic RPG? (Elemental Magic refers to control of one of the four “elements” – water, earth, fire, or air)

    1. Our Magic RPG is dead. I propose reviving that first, before we go off and make more based off of it.

  73. I had an idea for a game. It would start with one rule, and anyone who breaks that rule has to write a new rule. The rules would keep multiplying. They would be simple rules that are easy to follow, but also easy to break, like “No scratching your head.” There would also be meta-rules dictating what kind of rules could be written. If people wanted to play this, we could make a thread on it.

  74. Hey, GAPAs? The much-loved hot topics thread is getting on to 350 posts and is a bit cumbersome, so if you have the time I for one would appreciate a new one.

    1. Yes! I’d like a place to explain what my ever-changing avatar is.

      Pie 0

    2. There’s an ancient one somewhere… Different concept, but still an avatar thread. Search ‘avatar’,

  76. An editing thread? After NaNo, I don’t think I’m the only one struggling to make head or tails of this …thing I’ve created (though I dare say I win the “no plot” competition).

  77. Do we have a currently post-able mathematics thread?! If not, WE NEED ONE!!! The one I found was dead! Please GAPAs please!!

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
          1. Ooh! Mathematics of music would include the stuff with the Pythagoreans and the lengths of harp (I think) strings. I remember that a few summers ago, my ear liked the Pythagorean tuning better than the way pianos are currently tempered.

      1. I think that’s the Mandelbrot set. But yes, fractals are very lovable.

That’s 7, I think. More than enough to warrant a thread, GAPAs. *more eyelash battage*

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
        1. I was wondering whether it was one ‘t’ or two… I’ve been alternating between both.
By the way, my new avatar is a portion of the Mandelbrot set, except not exactly. It’s complicated.

          Pie 0
          Squid 0
          1. Yes, it’s one “t”. There’s a math competition called Mandelbrot, which I thought about (but decided against) doing. I’ve actually met two of the three founders of that contest (on separate occasions). (If we ever get a math thread, you’ll find that I’ve done a lot of mathy things where I get to meet such people.)

Your avatar doesn’t look like the Mandelbrot set per se. It looks more like a Mandelbrot-like fractal.

            Pie 0
            Squid 0
            1. I don’t know exactly what it is. It’s a image I made with my Mandelbrot generator, but you are correct. It’s some sort of ‘Orbit Trap’ thing? I don’t really understand it. I just use it. Mostly for artsy purposes.

  78. Do we have a thread just for comics in general? If so, I cannot find it, if not, could we have one please? * is pestilence of Suggestion Box *

  79. GAPSs, we’ll need a new Demigod RPG thread soon. Just a heads up.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  80. GAPAs, can we please have an angst thread? Many of us have asked already.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
      1. Agnst is to complaining as boiling water is to fire works—complaining is spontaneus, loud, occasionally unjustified, often random and not always long-term. Agnst, on the other hand, is quiter, more melodramatic, less random, and often long term. Agnst is caused by lots of little things that annoy or go wrong. Complaining IS little things that annoy or go wrong.

  81. So erm, just a heads-up for when you have extra time… Hot topics has not reached critical mass yet but is getting close.. (we apperently go through these REALLY quickly)

  82. If anyone else is into Pokemon besides me, we should have a Pokemon thread, where we talk about our pokemon, complain about trainers etc. etc.

  83. I think we should have a Band/Orchestra thread. There’s one, but its old and closed.

    1. We’re trying to do that on the Letters: England, 1984 thread, but it’s obviously not set in modern times. If you wanted it set in modern times, then never mind.

      1. Well, I was thinking more of a Sherlock Holmes-era RPG, which would place it around 1875-1907, so… maybe, GAPAs?

        Pie 0

  84. I had an idea for a ‘Caricature RPG’ a while back. You basically poke fun at your least favorite fiction characters/type of characters/whatever. I’m not really sure where it’d go from there, but…
    138- That sounds like fun.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Oh, I like that idea! I’m not sure that we need another RPG on here though, so maybe we could expand it to just being a regular thread? I think the base idea is very clever but not so sure about it being an RPG although that would be funny.

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
      1. Maybe… Or maybe something like the Bunny Melee thread? I dunno. I never had much of a good idea what would happen in a roleplay of people making fun of their characters.

  85. Can we have a History Day thread for those who participate? It would be just like NaNoWriMo. *is hopeful*

  86. Could we have a history of MuseBlog thread?????? Please?????

  87. How about an SPQR thread?
Explanation: SPQR is the acronym for the Latin phrase: Senatus Populusque Romanus (The senate and the Roman people) and it’s found all over Rome on sewer covers, et cetera. (another Latin phrase, “and the rest” or something like that) At schoolname we have a Latin program (didn’t see that one coming, did you? ) and whenever we find something that shows ancient Rome in the modern world, it goes on the SPQR section of the teacher’s bulletin board. Could we do something like that on MB? Please?

      2. Yes, right around competition time I need major comfort. And that’s why we need a History Day thread!

  88. What about a Mythological Creatures RPG or Discussion Thread? That would be kind of cool. I was thinking, if the RPG, we could be mythical creatures who, I don’t know, battle an evil corporation bent on destroyinng magic from kids’ minds, instead of being a human.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. That’s so cool, but we don’t need another RPG on here. (That sounds similar to the Demigod RPG anyway, even though I know there would be differences.) However I’m all for a discussion thread!

      Thirded!

      Pie 0

      1. SFTDP, but if I’m not mistaken, the Magic RPG is dying, if not already dead. But yeah, it would be like the demigod RPG, I guess. I’m falling in love with RPGs!!!!!!

        Pie 0
        Squid 0
          1. Well, don’t let that stop you!!
Just tweak your character a bit… Do you know why you had those extra points?

  89. GAPAs, could we please have thread about Doctor Who?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
    1. Sorry, but the GAPAs have a policy about not doing brand name threads that are not all pervasive. For example, there’s a Calvin and Hobbes thread, but there is no Star Trek thread

      Pie 0
      Squid 0
  90. GAPAs, could you create another “Come Play Paker” notice and link it to the Muse Academy Game Room? Everyone has forgotten about it.

    1. Wasn’t there a Eragon thread aaaages ago? I seem to remember that there was. Search ‘Eragon’
…I think I found it a while back while searching for an interesting post concerning Eragon. But I don’t remember where the post was, and my search ended up nowhere. Anyway, moving on now…
