Life, the universe, pies, hot-pink bunnies, world domination, and everything

First post? Anyway, I think we need a Lego thread. Only one thing like it (the February IMC) has ever come on the blog, and as a devoted Lego fan, I think Legos (incorrect pluralization) deserve their own thread.
PLEASE MAKE A LEGO THREAD! Anyway, the new BIonicle movie is out, and I really want to discuss it.
Second post? A pets thread would be nice.
We have one already, actually. https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=927 It’s sort of died, but can still be theoretically used.
Then let’s revive it!
hocus pocus
Copied from previous thread…
Alright, I have two ideas for RPGs that have been bouncing around in my head for a while. (Actually, they’ve been bouncing around in text files on my computer, but whatever.) Here they are.
This first one was thought up more recently.
Basic Plot:
Aliens from across the universe send some of their number to earth, collecting information, to send back to their planets.
Complex Background:
Centuries ago, the denizens of the planet Melthos invented a way to move quickly through space. They used their knowledge to begin to explore the universe, sharing their technology. However, although the Melthosians were peaceful, the other planets were not so much so. After many horrible wars involving the technologies of tens of planets, the Melthosians gathered representatives from all the planets, and formed the InterPlanetary Federation. Thousands of planets were discovered, and all sent representatives to the Federation. Finally, they happened upon another planet. Something told them this one was different. After a meeting of the Federation, they decided against contact. However, several of them secretly sent off spies, disguised as humans, to find more about this strange race. The first thing they discovered was the strange name of the planet. Earth…
This one was made up more then a year ago, for Neopets roleplayers, which are, needless to say, quite different from MBers. I never posted it, and it probably needs quite a bit of refinement.
Setting:
The kingdom of Celestia. There are four cities, plus one in ruins. They are arranged in a circle/square thing, with the biggest one in the center. The ones around it represent Art, Knowledge, and War. The fifth one was destroyed long ago, and no one knows what it once represented. However, these do not concern us right now. Our story takes place in the main one, which has residents from all the other cities. It has all sorts of things in it, with all the other cities combined in one. Everywhere you look you can see warriors practicing, artists doing art, and scholars learning. There’s even a few people from the forgotten fifth city. But not even they know anything about it.
Input?
I really like that kingdom of Celestia idea. I can see it set in a medival time period …
A (Tall) Ships thread! I can’t believe we don’t have one already, but I can’t find one.
That’s appealing. How about broadening it to something like “Ships and the Sea”?
Or “Maritime Matters”?
That sounds great.
4/41.- Seconded!
A film thread? There might already be something like it; I’m not sure.
I really should have been more specific. How ’bout a thread about making films, writing screenplays, etc.?
There’s a script frenzy one… I don’t know where it is, but it’s definitely there.
Okay, who else thinks a good way to combine our “60s/space race” idea with the Halloween Ball would be to give the ball a Twilight Zone theme?
If the GAPAs would allow a theme based on a specific thing (as they are not oft wont to do (see requests for Harry Potter RPG)), I would adore that.
Twilight Zone!? That would be so awesome!!!!!!!!! XD
I do!
Awesome! I second (well, fourth) the motion!
I’m sorry, but that doesn’t exactly sound that appealing to me…
If you have an alternate theme idea, tell us and we can debate it. We’re open to suggestions.
I’m sorry, but I don’t actually have any. I’m just not really into the whole Twilight Zone thing…. But honestly, if other MBers like it, I’m fine with it, seeing as I don’t exactly have any better suggestions. *shakes head with a sigh*
Um… I’m not exactly sure what the Twilight Zone is.
I believe it is a television, Scifi show. That is possibly rerally creepy? I’m not sure…. I’ve never seen it, so I may be completely wrong.
It was a black and white 50s/60s Science Fiction television series that was famous for mixing insights into human nature with creepy supernatural themes.
Would anyone be interested in a realistic fiction RPG? I don’t have any specific ideas, but it might be fun.
Well, the Romantic Musical Comedy thread is realistic fiction and it did pretty well, but we need a revival. Maybe we could do a spin-off about where the actors/dancers/others worked previously, and how they met.
*daydreams about thread idea*
Okay, before we go to any spin-off ideas, we need to get this thread revived. I think we should continue to try, but I don’t expect any revival until school starts. That’s when people start procastinating doing their homework by RPing their other lives as a dramatic actress/actor. It can be quite relieving.
WE NEED A REVIVAL!!!!!!
Perhaps a new back to school thread, since it is nearing that fated(fatal?) time again?
Could there be a Classic Bunny dark t-shirt selection on Musery Loves Company?
That could be arranged. Probably not today, though.
Maybe a thread of origins of Muserly things for newer bloggers? If anyone gets new information or questions for experts, they can go there too. I know I really would like to know more about wungs without digging through tons of old threads. and HPBs … and the pie wars … and Mr. Joe … and Muse Academy …
Yes, not all of us know why hpbs became attached to MuseBlog.
Thank you!
That sounds like a good idea! I was confused by many things when I first entered the world of MB. Still am, in fact…
Don’t worry about it, soccer starr. A state of continual confuzzlement goes with the territory. To borrow a phrase, anyone who isn’t confused by MuseBlog on a regular basis isn’t paying attention.
I see! I am used to being confuzzled all the time, even in non-MB areas, so it’s not really a change from being anywhere else.
Join the club. I’m even confuzzled about what I’m confuzzled about. Or whether I’m actually confuddled.
New manga thread? The one that we’re using is from 2007, so let’s just say it’s a bit out-dated. I don’t go on that often, but I think other musers would like it.
You have a point. Request granted.
Ha! That was fast! I just took a gander at the “Recent Posts,” and there it was.
Lucky timing on the request.
You shouldn’t take ganders without asking the owner’s permission, you know. Maybe en needed that gander.
We need to have a thread exclusively for the Beatles. I know we have a Music thread…
but this is the BEATLES we’re talking about here.
Definitely. I <3 Beatles!!
I agree! I love the Beatles, especially George Harrison.
Yes, we are definitely in need of a beatles thread. Also how about a thread to write about our worst/best experiences?
*begins a “pleasepleaseplease give us a worst/best experiences thread!” chant*
*continues the “pleasepleaseplease give us a worst/best experiences thread!†chant*
Let’s have a Thread about both the Beatles (The band) and beetles (the bug)
Sounds good to me!
Translation Party thread? P*ease?
What’s a Translation Party thread?
It’s a thread, similar to the Cleverbot Thread for discussing Translation Party, a new site many MBers are visiting, the spaceified version of which can be found below.
http ://translationparty .com
I have an odd thread idea. There could be a Conspiracy Theories thread, which would be a parody of sorts. We could combine different conspiracy theories into an “Ultimate Conspiracy Theory” For example, “the Iluminatti assassinated Kennedy”, etc. It could take the form of an RPG or something else.
That sounds like fun.
That would be AWESOME! I’ve put quite a lot of thoughts into conspiracy theories. I could post all of them! Yay!
Awesome! I fourth the motion.
7 (KaiYves) and replies: Why have a theme at all? Why not just let everyone dress as they want, creating an enchanting and surreal atmosphere?
Certainly, when we are ready to plan, we can decide on a theme for decor, but I don’t think we should dictate costumes.
“And now, for something completely different”…
I have several a ton of requests for threads:
1: A new Cooking and Food thread. The current one was created in March 2008 and was last posted on in December of the same year.
2: A new Plays/Acting/Theatre thread. The current one was created in September of 2007 and was last posted on in January of this year.
3: A new Homeschooling thread. The last one, titled as “Homeschoolers”, was also created in September of 2007. It has not been posted on since April of this year.
4: A new installment of Ship’s Logs. It’s rather active, but it was created in November, and it has 234 somewhat long posts.
5: A new Books and Reading thread. It has 597 posts !
May we please have these threads, O Great And Powerful Administrators?
P.S. Thanks for reading and considering all my requests. I know I’m asking for a lot at one time.
I only suggested it because some people wanted a way to have a 60s-themed party, and I thought Twilight Zone was a good combination of 1960s and Halloween.
But we don’t have to have a theme.
19 – I’d like #2 please!
Could somebody please just look at my ideas? I posted them at the top of this thread, more than a week ago! If you don’t like either of them, post that. It’ll hurt less then being ignored. I put a lot of thought into those ideas, and I’d love it if they were used. They might not be, and I recognize this. But could somebody acknowledge that I posted them? When I posted them, I thought that there would be a onslaught of ‘I love it’ like all the other role play ideas. I gave up on that ages ago. Now I just want to have some reply to my idea. Please?
*sigh* And now I’m being totally ignored. SFTDP, but… PLEASE!
Those look like good ideas, but 1) as anyone on the Chatterbox will tell you, I’m an awful roleplayer, as I always end up dropping out and 2) I really can’t follow stories where there are no names like Sarah, James, or Michael. Nothing against fantasy and sci-fi – that’s just my own personal quirk!
GAPA’s, we have a bit of a dilemma. Right now the Chronicles of Museica thread is dead, and a new one would be nice. However, it seems like the past threads (Yes, I’ve looked the older ones up!) have become an endless cycle of posting bills, trying to solve problems, posting more bills, trying to solve more problems, etc. I’m afraid that if you create a new thread the cycle will just continue even more viciously and then become dead again quickly, with many hopeless attempts to revive it. I’m not really sure whether a new one would be good or not, but I’d like to bring the matter to the attention of you and my fellow musers. Any thoughts? Anyone for/against another thread to continue Museica? I would like some feedback, and possibly from someone who was more involved in Museica then I was. Help!
How about a new Muse in general thread? That one was last posted on in february.
How about one on animal cruelty!
Space Shuttle Discovery takes off on the 25th. Can we get that on the calendar, p*ease?
I JUST GOT A BRILLIANT IDEA! AN RPG BASED OFF OF THE MATRIX TRILOGY!
How about it, GAPAs?
So Errata and I were talking (for like the first time EVER) on the Empowered RPG. And we like, oh wouldn’t it be great if we could revive this but we can’t oh woe is us.
Errata
I’ll go convince people that a new RPW is in order, then. We decided that the AH one was too focused on the tentative plot, and not enough on the AH aspect. And, there was absolutely no characterization going on. But a new one could be fun.
Alice
…I think I might be too shy, in a way, to come in and really contribute. But I can try, if we have a new one. And everyone states their character and makes sure that it isn’t a Mary Sue, and I have someone to write to.
Errata
Now we just need an idea of what it’s about. Or we could make it up as we go along…
I’m thinking a medieval-ish setting, maybe?
Alice
Medieval would be OK, except that if we were to be remotely authentic, none of us would know how to write. I’m fond of 19th century settings myself. I think I had a medieval phase a really long time ago, and got over it, but we could do it if you’d really like to.
Alice
I have a character (a Victorian one, but I can modify her to fit into a different time period if necessary) and a First Post with Helpful Rules and Guidelines. Now, we need to decide the setting and we can start, right? -hopeful grin-
We might need votes. I’ll post on the Suggestion box.
So here I am. Who’s up for it?
Me! Me!
OK, that’s three! Can we have a thread now? More people will probably come when we do.
Oh! Also: RoseQuartz: Medieval, 19th Century, or Other?
19th, I think.
-gazes hopefully at the GAPAs-
This will be good, because I’ll get to know all the people that I don’t know because I’ve never done an RRR with them.
So, you want a new RPW? What do you want to call it? “New RPW” isn’t very informative.
I vote for the new RPW too!
30.1- Hm. I was thinking “RPW, Again”, but that’s not very informative either.
All right, perhaps we should settle some things like the time period before getting the new thread. And maybe the genre (I was assuming fantasy, how about everyone else?)
31- Medieval, 19th century, or other?
I vote for the new RPW! And I’d really enjoy the chance to create a character that I won’t hate a few months from now.
What’s an RPW?
See the Hitchhiker’s Guide to MuseBlog.
35- Role-Playing Writing. It’s sort of like an RPG, but the characters all communicate through letters. The first one was back in 2007 and went on for five threads before dying from cliches, Mary Sues, and lack of characters. There have been a couple of them since, but none of them lasted very long.
GAPAs: You could just call it RPW 2009 and let us go from there.
37.1- HUZZAH! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
So, GAPAs, given any more thought to a Beatles thread?
*hackgasp* Yes, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *offers pies *
I think we need (if possible) a smiley for banging you head against the desk (henceforth known as headesk).
If we add a smiley, we have to take away another smiley, which I highly doubt will happen, as we’ve already taken away three of the original WordPress smilies. People will miss the smilies they’ve been using already. Such as the arrow and the !, which had to be removed to make room for and .
Why do you have to replace a smiley when you add a new one? Is that a WordPress feature or just a MB rule? Also, why are there two pie smileys? We only need one, right?
(Please correct me if I’m wrong on anything mentioned here. I’m no expert on these topics!)
SFTDP
Sorry, I should really re-word the first sentence in the above post. I meant to write:
Why do you have to take away a smiley when you add a new one?
I don’t know why I said replace instead of take away, sorry.
It’s a WordPress thing. There are two pie smileys because different situations require different throwing techniques. In other words, we couldn’t make up our minds which one to use, so we chose two from the designs Piggy sent us.
Piggy sent the designs? That’s pretty cool.
Where are the designs you didn’t use?
nice to meet you, Other Administrator Rebecca!
Beatles thread sounds like a good idea!
Dream thread, to recount the crazy stories we dream up (pun intended, ha ha ha). Note: not for interpretation, but just to amuse.
That’s not exactly a pun… *nitpicks*
I think the “Don’t Forget These Threads” thread should go away. It just doesn’t seem to be worth all the space it takes up on the main page–for example, today is the last day of August, and August’s DFTT thread has yet to be updated. People rarely adhere to the 4-5 requests at a time rule, it’s a lot of work for the GAPAs, and it’s never really used.
I agree with all of the above!
Me too!
I concur. Don’t make one tonight.
J’agree. Monsiuer Search Bar est bien.
I…sixth the motion.
The drawback to relying on the search bar is that it’s hard to search for something you don’t know exists.
What about making it just a regular thread where you can alert people to stuff they might not know about (or make reminders for yourselves for that matter)? That won’t take up extra space or create extra work.
That sounds reasonable to me…..What’s everybody else think?
I think that’s more or less what the DFTT had become, though disused. That sounds good to me.
I found a similar idea to this on another forum:
At some point, conditions on Earth will make the planet an undesirable place to live. Luckily, us Musers will have planned ahead and built ourselves a floating city. The thread is for designing and discussing the city, similar to the “Mostly Harmless Theme Park” thread.
Whoops, I misspelled my email.
Cool! Let’s try it! (Or, a colony on Mars/Enceladus)
We could even do a roleplay as MB settlers on Enceladus. I’d volunteer. I also volunteer AM.
No more roleplaying!
Okay, maybe not a roleplay, but designing a colony would be cool.
Yeah, designing would be cool. but, I wouldn’t have much to do. except for make science experiments for the people.
That would be fun.
Sounds fun!
I’d join. I’ve always wanted to design a city and satisfy my inner architect. But I agree- no more roleplaying!!
I’d join too.
GAPAs? Floating city design thread?
Or Enceladus Colony? ((I’ll do most of that.))
I’m just wondering, whatever did happen to the morphing chameleon threads?
I must of missed something in my extended absense.
We discontinued them because of lack of interest. Nobody was posting on them, and it seemed like a waste of space to give a prominent position to something MBers weren’t using.
I’d use them! Please, bring them back!
*agrees with Ducky*
I tried to make a fake one but it never really caught on…
Shared Scripts/Stories? You write something and have another MBer partner with you for the writing of the script/story.
…I’ve got my reasons.
I’ve tried with AM, at my house. (Lets just say it was a complete and utter failure.)
My class did it once-it was pretty good (of course, we did do it about superheros, so…)
I’m sure you do.
We could probably do that on Partial Scripts and/or BiP. Want to start another random MB Fanfic together? It would make things rather simpler for me. *is trying very hard not to rip off anyone’s ideas*
I’ll help, I guess, if it’s a script.
You can rip off me!
Either we start another fanfic that combines our ideas, or we rewrite each other’s scripts to make them better…
I vote for option two.
So do I. And we can help each other finish what we’ve got.
Let’s do it, then! I’ll start rewriting yours now (shouldn’t take that long because your writing is epic), and you rewrite mine (which should take a while) and we post the results.
Heh. This may be stupid, so other MBers say if you like this idea. There should be a bunny shirt in Musery Loves Company that says, “Don’t worry, I’m Nicegoodus” on the back.
So… Stupid? Fun?
No a bad idea.
That was eant to be not a bad idea.
And that was meant to be meant to be meant.
The last “to be meant” wasn’t intended. *headdesk*
That… Was one of the most extensive fails I have ever seen.
-A
I know.
Nice idea! I’m not sure anyone else would get it.
I would if my parental units would let me.
I think that by “get it” Enceladus meant “understand it,” but the other sense of the word (“buy it”) is sadly apt. Musery Loves Company has had only one order in the past three months. (Thanks, Koppar!)
If a dark adult t-shirt of the “Classic Bunny” variety could be made, I would double that figure. It appears Lady B has been too busy to remember my request.
Ohh…,,*headdesks*
Oh, well. I’ll just make the shirt myself.
*browses Musery Loves Company*
*gasp*
There is a PWT PWNS messenger bag???
*wants* *needs*
Piggy, I’ve added dark t-shirt choices to the “Classic Bunny” on CaféPress. Sorry it took so long. I really hadn’t forgotten (just remembered at inconvenient times), but I had to upload a new image since the original wouldn’t work with dark colors.
Thanks, SQ. I’ve placed my order.
I might be able to bunnify persuade my dad into getting me a Musery Loves Company wardrobe.
Oops, HTML gnome, I mean “bunnify” to be with a line through it. I forgot how to!
<strike>whatever you want struck out</strike>
Thanks!
Use either <strike> or <del>
An angst thread. Not like Rants and Complaints, but where we can just let out all the sad things. Sad, instead of angry.
Sorry, my typing’s atrocious at 1:22 AM.
Tis a good idea. I could certainly use a thread like that!
I think we need a “Shops” thread.
On the Shops thread, you could:
discuss any kind of shop,
discuss clothes from that shop on,
and so on and so on…
I’d really like something like that. It should likely be called the “Fashion” thread…ooh! A Fashion thread!
In a Fashion thread, we would discuss fashion. End of story.
Clothes we like, clothes we’re thinking of buying, clothes other people wear that are extremely strange…
A fashion thread would be interesting, although I don’t know much about it, nor do I have any of it. Maybe a style thread would be better. Fashion is what’s popular overall in the world, and style is an individual’s take on clothes or anything else really!!
Oh, thanks, soccer starr-Style is a better word for it than Fashion by far.
Phrase Game thread?
We need a Name That Song thread and a Maim That Song thread.
YES. Maim That Song. I have a hilarious parody of Love Story that, er, rather maims it.
And Fashion thread! That’d be awesome! Oh, and Angst thread, too. I could really use that.
Ohmigod! We really do need a Maim That Song thread!
I think we should make a BA theme song compilation by editing song lyrics, but that’s neither here or there.
FASHION. Yeah.
I volunteer for the position of active member!
Maim that Song! I definitely vote for that!
There’s a Song Parody thread somewhere… I’ll go dig it up.
Here it is!
56.1- This wouldn’t be the ‘Hate Story’ you posted on the above-mentioned Song Parodies thread, would it? I loved that one.
Also, GAPAs, the 2008 MuseBlog Signatures appears to be mislabeled as 2009. I freaked out when I noticed that, assuming I’d missed 2009’s signup last weekend, since I couldn’t imagine when else it could have been. But everything in that category is labeled 2008, and there’s no 2008 category.
Why, thank you! Yes, it would be that one. Is it maimed enough for you?
Perhaps the GAPAs could rename the Parody thread?
Since we can’t have threads exclusively for song groups, how about an “Influential Bands” thread? We could discuss the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and other bands that shaped today’s music.
Ja. Good idea. Can we, GAPAs?
Those influential bands all played Music, didn’t they?
But then, by your same logic, Harry Potter is a relatively ordinary book series. Yet we not only have a thread for discussing HP, we have a trivia thread for it.
*thinks*
OK, on second thought if we can’t have a Beatles/Influential Bands thread, can we at least have a Beatles trivia thread?
Creating HP threads was a tactical maneuver. The comments about it would have drowned out all the conversation on any other relevant thread.
The same thing could easily happen for Beatles.
Forty years ago, very possibly. But we haven’t seen any evidence that’s likely to happen now. There’s no reason you can’t start a conversation on the Music thread. If it gets so popular no one can squeeze another word in edgewise, we can take another look.
How about a homework help thread? I’m going to go ask for help on the random thread.
*ignorance*
Speaking of which, GAPAs, when are we doing the next MuseBlog Signatures thing? The past two have been in June and August. Admittedly, the first was in December, but still… When?
GAPAs, I noticed that when I typed in “romance and relationships” into the search box, the one that comes up is the 2009.4 version, not the 2009.5 version. Much as I like to give my index finger exercise by doing extra clicking, I was rather puzzled. Or maybe there’s something wrong with my server, but I just thought you might want to know.
You’d get it if you just typed “romance” in the search box. Version 2009.5 is actually called “Romance & Relationships.” We’ll probably change it when we are feeling more motivated…
Ah. OK!
Since the atheism thread is visited once a week (or less), I’m gunna put a notice here, for all to see.
One vote for an ethics thread, please.
Um…that’s a good idea, but isn’t the Hot Topics thread similar to what an ethics thread would probably become? I mean, you can discuss ethic-related topics on Hot Topics.
Name That Song thread? Please ?
Uh, is there going to be a Halloween Ball this year? If so, shouldn’t there be a planning thread for that, as October is less than two weeks away?
Last year’s planning thread began September 28, and the Ball itself started on the 13th.
Can we have the planning thread now so the ball can start earlier?
65.1.1- Seconded.
Can we have a new thread for Romantic Musical Comedy? It’s barely moving so if people saw it on the sidebar then they would remember and contribute. When Part Two was visible it moved along very quickly….
67-seconded
I want a Muse Academy baseball cap! Or is there one already? I’m bunnifying persuading my dad that I need a H&H mug, as well! I can’t wait for my birthday…
Could we get a new “Just Friends” thread? Nobody visits the old one.
Oct. 1st – NaNoBraSto 2009?
3 more days… argh. 34 more days.
1 day until new boards, and NaNoBraSto
please recognize this post somehow (saying you will start the thread!)
GAPA? hello?
Sorry, TMFA, I think we’ve all been wandering about. Don’t worry, we won’t break with tradition.
Thank you!!!!
Now? Please?
Can we have a technology thread? Like, one for cool new gadgets we’ve gotten, or weird technology we’ve heard about in the news, or amazing programs on our computers?
Can we please have some support for a new Romantic Musical Thread? Come on, people!!!
73–Seconded!
Can we have the Halloween Ball planning thread?
Second.
Third.
Third.
Fifth.
Sixth.
I have no idea what the reaction to this will be, but could we have a thread where we could speculate what goes in those former MBers lives who have left our spot of paradise? For example, they could have been carried away by HPB’s! Or maybe joined an anti-Kokonspiracy group…the possibilities are endless. (We could also have some more serious and logical speculations as well as funny and unrealistic ones!)
Second.
You know Ernest Hemingway’s six-word story? (For sale: Baby shoes, never used. ( ))
Could we have a thread for writing those?
Seconded.
That would be great.
Oxymoron thread?
I know, I’m stupid, but what is that?
Musers are never stupid, soccer starr, they just may not be familiar with a certain term. An oxymoron is “a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction,” according to the dictionary on my computer. For example, jumbo shrimp.
Or a Giant Dwarf. (Go Order of the Stick!)
Or “Happy Monday.”
Seriously funny, huh?
Okay, that one was pretty bad.
*laughs to self*
That’s a good one.
Another good example is “Jumbo Shrimp.” With this thread we could post ones we know, and make up new ones. I would love to see what you guys could come up with.
Monday is absolutely fine, in my opinion. *is homeschooled*
‘Military Intelligence’
**DISCLAIMER: THIS JOKE IS PURELY FOR HUMOR PURPOSES AND NOT INTENDED TO BE OFFENSIVE IN ANY WAY**
I like that idea!
Anime and manga thread, please.
An anime and manga thread? Like this one?
How about a thread for talking about the weather? October is the perfect time for such a thing, at least here in Northeastern Oregon.
I don’t know if this is a good idea or not, but it did run across my mind today as I was talking with some friends in English class.
You know all those ideas you have for stories, books, etc that you really want to see written but can’t manage to get off the ground? We could have a thread where someone posts a premise for a story (in as great or little detail as en wants) and someone else writes a story based on that premise.
The writer’s notebook thread is similar. I think the quotations thread is full and slowing down…. all in favor of a new one?
I third Zinc’s idea in comment 53-
An angst thread. Not like Rants and Complaints, but where we can just let out all the sad things. Sad, instead of angry.
Seems like all of us could use this at some point.
How about a thread for arguing? Not about anything serious, just silly things, like whether fluffy pens are better than non-fluffy pens.
Ha ha, I already have a lot of arguing in my life, but that’s a good idea! Although we do debate pretty much everywhere on else on the blog already, but a designated place to do so would be helpful.
Do you think fluffy pens are better than non-fluffy pens? Fluffy pens as in those bizarre fuzzy things that barely resemble writing utensils, or the kind with fluffy tails? Or the ones that resemble animals due to their excessive fluffiness?
The kind with fluff on the top. I have two of them. Both of them are yellow. One has a ladybug on a spring on top, and the other one has a duck. Obviously, I like them.
I second the request. But we’d have to keep the arguments non-serious – if religion, politics, or ethics were involved, it would turn into the Hot Topics thread.
Some stuff to argue about:
Harry Potter or Percy Jackson?
Harry Potter or Twilight?
Chocolate vs. vanilla cake.
Google vs. Yahoo.
Speaking of websites, how about a My Life Is Average thread? We can talk about funny, ironic, average things that happened to us. Like this:
“Today, in class a girl asked what was making a ticking noise. Without missing a beat my teacher starts going ‘Snape, Snape, Severus Snape’. My principal, who was walking by and heard, stuck his head in the door and yelled ‘DUMBLEDORE!’ I love my school.”
“Two days ago on Halloween, a little boy dressed as a spork came trick-or-treating at my house. After giving him candy, I saw him run to his parents, who were dressed as a fork and a spoon.”
“Today, instead of working on my application to Stanford, I taught my dog to respond to Harry Potter spells. He now stays when I yell, ‘Petrificus Totalus,’ comes when I say, ‘Accio,’ and plays dead when I yell ‘Avada Kedavra.’ I feel that this was an acceptable substitute of my time.”
A spork as the child of a fork and a spoon? Genius!
All in favor of a new Romantic Musical Comedy thread, which has become more of a bad soap opera… But that is what I was going for anyway, so perhaps a new name? Anyway, we at least need supporters, so say “AY!”
AY!
AY!!!!!!!!!!!!
AY!!
Any more people that want a new romantic musical thread?
Ay! (I’m thinking of joining)
You should! We seriously need some more male characters, so if you do end up joining it would be great if you could portray someone of that gender…
Ooh! Idea!
We could call it the Dramantic Musical Comedy… or something… like that…
While this is active, I was going to suggest a thread for thinking up MB mottos. Just for fun, you know. Things that could replace that ‘Live, the universe…’ thing up at the top. I have some ideas myself.
Of course, it probably wouldn’t last very long. But it might be fun while it did, so it’s worth a try, right? *hopeful*
Oops, wrong email. Sorry.
That’s a good idea! Ay!
We have one: https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=912
Of course, it was created back when I was a ‘phytie and has been dead for ages. Looks like it’s time to revive it.
Thanks!
I BESEECH THEE, O MIGHTY GAPAS, please have a thread for…for…I forgot. Wait.
Ah, yes – where we all impersonate popular Hollister-wearing people and develop an “appreciation” for pop music, Aéropostale, and…and…”The Clique!” Yeah!
*cringes and waits for barrage of nonfriendly pies* Forgive me fellow musers!!! It’s just like the Alter Ego thread, right??
That’s…interesting. Oh, yes. About the pies: Just so you can say you got them.
Can we have a demigod RPG, where we all find out we’re demigods, and slay monsters and get prophecies and stuff?
Seconded!
Fourthed! (No, wait…not a word. Ha ha.)
Fifthed, although I am in way too many RPGs already. But I’d like to read what others come up with.
Same here…well, not exactly. I’m really only in one semi active RPG, but I’m pretty sure that that may only be what I can handle at this point…still, this is such a good idea that I may just have to join anyway. Unfortunately this would not help me contain my obsession for Greek mythology…hee hee hee.
Seventhed! (Or so)
Thirded. I prophesy there will be green snow tomorrow.
Fifth! (I’m figuring by the time I post, there’ll be a fourthed.)
Would it be exactly like Percy Jackson or would other mythologies be involved as well?
I like the idea of other mythologies, although I’m sure it’d be a lot like Percy.
I think it would be cool if we could have, say, Norse Mythology involved, or Egyptian. Or, it could be rival mythologies all fighting each other, and then monotheism could come in, and become really powerful…
Good idea! That sounds really interesting…
Perhaps like Age of Mythology, where the influence of each pantheon decreases in proportion to the distance from their most sacred site on Earth, and only an emergency will cause them to intervene elsewhere.
How about a Google vs. Yahoo War thread? Basically, you type phrases into both Google and Yahoo, and see what suggestions it gives you. Then you post the funniest one from each, and judge who wins.
Example:
Type in: “i like”
Google: “i like to tape my thumbs to my hands to see what it would be like to be a dinosaur”
Yahoo: “i like to move it”
Google wins this round. BONUS: Google also had “i like to think of jesus as a mischievous badger”. Double points.
We could even keep a tally of how many points each search engine gets.
“I wish”
Google: “I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller.”
Yahoo: “I wish I was a punk rocker.”
“I am”:
Yahoo: I am bored
Google: I am extremely terrified of Chinese people”
Google Pwnz.
The problem is that sometimes the suggestions aren’t exactly, well, blog-appropriate.
Then don’t post those……..
Type: “we must”
Yahoo provides “j moss we must praise lyrics”
Google provides “we must ignite this couch”
Winner: Google.
Type: “in the future”
Yahoo provides “computers in the future”
Google provides “in the future will thinking critically influence the ways that you…”
Winner: Inconclusive.
Type: “millions of”
Yahoo provides “millions of peaches”
Google provides “millions of milkshakes”
Winner: Inconclusive.
Type: “pies are”
Yahoo provides “ding pies are done”
Google provides “pies are square”
Winner: Both disqualified for not saying “good for throwing,” “delicious,” “squishy” or similar
Cats are:
Google: cats are people too
Yahoo: cats are evil
What about people who belong to the Church of Google? They can’t search with Yahoo…
Maybe if I use Google first, and then Yahoo, and don’t actually search with Yahoo, just look at the suggestions…
I checked the commandments, and it says I can “have no other Search Engine before me”, so if I use Google first, I’ll be fine, but it also says “come to Google only for answers”…
If I’m not coming to it for answers, then I guess it’s okay…
((GAPAs, this contains a slight drug reference, I’m not sure if it’s okay to post, just snip it if you think you should.))
GOOGLE
“What if god smoked cannabis”
Yahoo
“babyface What If”
Google wins.
Now I’ll go repent.
Type in:”I’m”
Google: “I’m not there”
Yahoo: “I’m not a plastic bag”
Yahoo.
Type in “Why is it that”
Google
“why is it that as a culture we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands”
(That one isn’t so funny, but I liked it.)
Yahoo
“Why is it that Pluto is not a planet”
*grumbles* Because we, as a culture, are closed minded and stupid.
I’d much rather see two guys holding hands, than holding guns. But that’s just me. Well, not just me, but….Oh, you get my point. I’ll go shut up, lack of sleep is bad for coherency.
“when I rule the world”
Google: “when I rule the world, I’ll plant flowers”
Yahoo: “when I rule the world game”
Winner: Google for the awesome AVPM reference
AVPM for the win.
Gotta love the Quirrell/Voldie scenes.
I saw Luna’s comment in recent comments, and I swear that the first thing I thought was, in fact, ‘when I rule the world I will plant flowers’
“life is”
Google: life is a show
Yahoo: life is great
winner: inconclusive
“If I was”
Google: “If I was your vampire lyrics.”
Yahoo: “If I was president.”
‘When’
Google: When am I going to die?
Yahoo: When the Emperor Was Divine
Winner: Yahoo.
No. When the Emperor was Divine wasn’t a very good book. Google wins, for the morbidity at least.
Well… I haven’t read it, and you have to admit, it sounds cooler. So maybe Inconclusive?
“You’re”
Google: “You’re a jerk”
Yahoo: “No first you’re next modest mouse”
Winner: Yahoo.
Related game-
1) Pick a somewhat famous person.
2) Type in their first name and as many letters of their last name as it takes to get a suggestion related to the person.
3) Fewest letters/most suggestions wins.
Person: Robert Ballard
Google: “Ba-” has one hit.
Yahoo: “Ba-” has one hit.
Verdict: Tie.
Person: Jane Austen
Just the first name has one hit for both
Verdict: Tie
Person: Rosalind Franklin
Google: First name has 4 hits.
Yahoo: First name has 1 hit.
Verdict: Google
Person: Dave Brubeck
Google: “B” has 1 hit
Yahoo: “B” has 1 hit
Verdict: Tie
Person: Stephen Sondheim
Google: “S” has 1 hit
Yahoo: “S” has 1 hit
Verdict: Tie
Lots of ties here…
Person: Yuri Gagarin
Google: “Yur” has one hit.
Yahoo: No hits even if full name is entered.
Verdict: Google.
(Also, related to the first game:
“Yur”
Google: “Yurts for sale”
Yahoo: “Your momma”
Winner: Google.)
Robert Ballard … that’s the guy who dug up the ruins of the Titanic, right? And he found all those old jars and shoes inside?
Yup, he discovered the wreck of the Titanic, and lots of other shipwrecks around the world.
(My personal role model in the field of underwater archeology)
Actually, “No First You’re Next” is a song by Modest Mouse, so I’d say Google wins.
Slightly sad note related to the second game- If you type in “Emmett”, “Emmett Cullen” comes up before “Emmett Till”.
There is something wrong with this nation.
Yes, yes there is.
AM: Demigod RPG: Eighthed!
Enc: Ninthed!
Tenthed! That sounds really cool!
Eleventh! I always thought about what it would be like …
Oh, and FYI, Carl Sagan’s 75th birthday is tomorrow.
Errr…Who’s that? *feels clueless* I mean, the name sounds familiar, but…
And also, maybe we could have a thread for Thoughtful Alphabets? It’s an Edward Gorey thing. You try to make a story, but each word begins with the letters of the alphabet, in order.
Here’s an example:
Apologize.
Bewail Complications.
Drivel Endlessly.
Frequent Ghastly Happenings Imply Jeopardy.
Keep Laughing Mechanically.
Nevertheless.
One piddling Question Remains.
So.
Take Umbrage.
Villify.
Whereupon Explain.
Yes.
Zabaglione.
LOVE! What’s another one I like…
Alarming behavior.
Corpse.
Detective enters.
I can’t remember the rest, and I’m too lazy to go get the book. I dunno if it should be a thread though. I just love Edward Gorey.
I love that one! The Deadly Blotter!
Alarming Behavior.
Corpse.
Detective enters.
Fearful Glances.
Helpful Irrelevancies.
Jitters.
Knitting.
Likely Motives.
Notable Omissions.
Pointed Questions.
Reluctance.
Subtle Trap.
Unmasked Villain.
Who?
Extenuation Yields Zero.
We missed Guy Fawkes Day by 3 days.
And the Pseudonym’s idea fits in with the whole “haiku/six-word story/Conjugation Game” things we’ve been doing recently.
Pseudonym, before I asked the exact same question, I googled him. He was an important astronomer. I hadn’t heard about him either.
A new MuseBlog Fanfiction thread, p*ese! The old one has a considerable amount of comments and it’s way too old! MBers, come back!
A new Romantic Musical Comedy thread, P*EASE?????? It has more comments than the part one thread. Please?
Yes! Please? With a cherry on top?
Please!!!!!
Have we ever had a thread request eleventhed before?
New Reclusive Gardens thread please! The current one has 400 posts and is very dead.
In my opinion, MB should have a vampire-related thread. I also second it, third it, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, and eleventh it.
Oh, please, please no. PLEASE! It’s bad enough that half of all young adult literature is vampire related….
I agree with you whole-heartedly. Unless the thread is about stabbing vampires, in which case…
Maybe a monster-hunting RPG/RRR, all Gothic-style?
Ugh, we have so many RPGs already, they all have trouble staying alive.
Alright, this is what makes me angry (not you, just stuff in general.). Let’s not start thinking that vampires are all cliché, and Twilight ruined everything. Vampires are AWESOME, and I second a thread with vampires involved. Perhaps we can have something similar to the magic RPG where there is a good and bad side. Oops, I need to go update my RPG’s…
Half? Really? The only major series I can think of are The Vampire Diaries and Twilight…although I’m probably missing a few, I don’t really pay much attention to vampire-related series.
And twilight is basically a ripoff of The Vampire Diaries, from what I’ve seen/heard…………..
I’m not really interested in vampires…..I mean, Twilight kinda ruined it for me, but other than that I guess they’re ok. I probably wouldn’t do much in a thread for it though.
I twelfth it. And I think it’s cheating to have so many votes from one person.
(no offense intended for twilight likers) I agrre with Luna, although we COULD have a merge of a stabbing of/RPG/good-bad vampire thread.
Do we have a thread for discussing Pet Peeves?
Isn’t that kind of similar to Rants and Complaints?
Oooh, yes it is.
Vampires are fine- when they’re dead *plays Buffy theme* No, if you want a vampires RPG, go ahead.
Another Buffy fan? Ooh, how about a Buffy thread? (Okay, manybe not.) Or maybe a geeky TV shows thread? I mean, there’s plenty of discussion of Dr. Who on the blog.
Please not another RPG. We have way too many of them these days. Back when I was a ‘phyte…
I’d love a Joss Whedon thread. :] Or a geeky TV shows thread, either one.
I second (or third, or whatever) a geeky TV shows thread. I can’t contribute to any Buffy conversation (yet. I have told speller I’ll watch next semester), but Dr. Who……
That’s three for “Geeky TV Shows”. Please GAPAs?
Yes! Geeky TV shows! Yay!
My list of TV shows that I watch that nobody in my school knows about:
Good Eats: Food network
Food Network Challenge: Food network (duh!)
Iron Chef America: Food network
Modern Marvels: History Channel
Nova: PBS
How It’s Made: Discovery
Cats 101: Animal Planet
Andromeda. Watch it! I’m sure you can find it somewhere online. I love that show- it has the best characters and finally a sci-fi show that doesn’t always involve the military.
So that’s four now. *bats eyelashes*
I guess I’d better make the thread, or this thread will morph into it anyway.
That’s the spirit!
geeky TV shows would be nice…
Now then, GAPAs-
1. The suggestion box is annoying full
2. so is the You Know You’re addicted to x when y thread
3. it is getting increasingly difficult to find active threads-I keep running into dead ones and birthday announcements- is there any way to take all the dead (as in no longer commentable) threads and dump them all into archieves or something? Some older threads are still active so appear on the bottom of the list while newer unactive threads sit on top of them…
4. I can’t find the student lounge thread even when logged in… Where is it again?
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, how about a things we are thankful for thread. As in not “I am thankful for food” but “I am thankful for teachers who decide to cancel class because a bunch of kids (excluding me) won’t be there.” You know, sort of an anti-Rants and Complaints thread.
Another idea is a MuseBlog nostalgia thread. Sort of like a Best of the Blog but more general. (That could possibly be a paleo thread.)
I feel the nostalgia thread would be too much a source of unrest and rebellion in vain hopes of returning the ‘Blog to its “former glory”.
Unrest and rebellion- sure, bring it on. I haven’t had a good chance to shout at people in ages
Nah. I’m not big on nostalgia. The past is over, and when you spend to much time thinking about it you lose grip on the present. You can’t bring old times back, but you can shape the new ones, provided you’re here and now mentally. Sorry for the unrelated rant.
103- Just pick out the category “paleostuff”. It show be at the top of the thread. Could you put your former name back up in () ? I keep forgetting who you are
Oh yeah… Sorry about that!
Could you maybe start a planning thread for the Holiday Party, if we’re having one this year? Thanks!
Of course we’re having one!
Would there be a way for the GAPA’s to put a small symbol or color next to the threads to show which one’s have are active/dead. By dead, we could set a specific guideline (For example, 6 months with no posts.) or something of that like. It would make it much easier to keep track of the various threads. I’m not sure if this is even possible on a WordPress, but just an idea…
I think what soccer starr said would be extremely helpful, if it’s possible. GAPA;s?
(103, 106, 107) Threads are “open” or “closed” depending on whether they allow comments or not. Beyond that, “dead” is largely a matter of opinion.
Threads have sprung back into action when rediscovered months later, often by new MBers. The most dramatic example was the original Vegetarian thread which went dormant with only 156 comments in July 2006. The next post didn’t appear until June of the following year — and then went to 400 comments within two months. A book on a shelf isn’t “dead” simply because it isn’t being read at that precise moment.
That said, I don’t know of any practical way we could designate how active a thread is. The “What’s Here” and “Recent Posts” lists are software-generated. As a general rule, we close threads only when they’re superseded by the next entry in the series. Also, on a very few occasions we’ve closed threads that turned into spam magnets. (The majority of threads older than April 2007 are also closed because of a technicality involved with the reopening of the blog after the bunny takeover.)
Okay… But is there anyway of removing the threads with comments turned off from the lists of threads under each category? It’s really hard to find active but older threads when they’re under countless newer but un-commentable birthday or Romance threads, for instance.
And this thread, the hot topics thread, and the you know you’re addicted to x when y threads are all getting annoyingly large.
We usually remove birthday announcements after a few days. I just took down two more. As for the rest of your comment, I’m not sure I understand. If you’re using Categories to navigate, birthday threads and the like shouldn’t even show up except under Birthdays. Again, those lists are automatically generated, and removing closed threads would defeat the purpose of having an archive.
Sometimes it’s easier to find threads through “What’s Here?” Do you use bookmarks and/or tabs? We’re always looking for means of improving navigation, but we’re up against architectural limitations. Maybe some other MBers can suggest ways they use to sort things out.
A couple of those threads you mentioned could definitely use new editions. We’ll make them when we get a chance. Meanwhile, if you use Ctrl+End, Page Up and Page Down, or other keyboard shortcuts, you can navigate through long threads pretty easily.
Alright, thanks for your answer!
You’re welcome, I know it can sometimes be frustrating. But it’s never a done deal. Software evolves, plugins get written…a better solution may turn up around the next corner.
Thanks for answering too!
Great! Thanks so much!
Anagram thread?
I still like the idea of the ‘sadness thread’, Zinc’s suggestion in comment 53, but no-one else does, apparently.
How about another Magic RPG thread? The current one is getting full.
Maybe you could have a thread that lists active MBers and where they live so it would be easier to arrange possible Kokonventions rather than always asking, ‘Wait, where do you live again?’ or ‘Does anyone live near _____?’ Then people who want to Kokon could just check the thread to see who it would be possible to do it with (ie near their vicinity)
Sort of like the lists of who’s posted how much, and the calendar/birthday list, I guess.
Good idea, but that would take quite a bit of work and a lot of compiling…still that’s something worth looking into I think, as long as it’s not mandatory to be put on the list. (For example, I probably wouldn’t be allowed to go to a Kokon so I wouldn’t want to be on the list.)
This idea was on an old thread, proposed by someone else, but I thought I should bring it up again.
What if we rated threads like we do movies? The thread’s rating would be posted at the top of the thread, and any comments above the rating would be snipped.
G: Appropriate for anyone.
PG: Somewhat higher than G. Completely self-censored swearing (example: #%$@), religious and political discussions, and references to non-G-rated books and movies.
PG-13: Partially censored or acronymed swearing, more intense Hot Topics debates (like gay marriage or abortion), and basically anything above PG rating. To get onto these threads, you would have to email the GAPAs confirming you’re a certain age or something.
Anyone like the idea?
I like the idea of rating the threads as a warning to some of the younger MBers (Myself included.) when some “touchy” subjects might be brought up, but I don’t like the idea of having to e-mail the GAPA’s to confirm a certain age. Not only would it be a lot more work for the GAPA’s, it would completely change the freedom of MB. In some cases, yes, only allowing certain people over a certain age to enter a thread is a good idea. But in most, I think that we should just leave it at a rating of some sort.
Not the confirming age part. What SS said.
I was about to write what soccer starr wrote. I agree with soccer starr.
Agreed, soccer starr. isn’t there someone on here who is 9? So maybe their parents might not want them to go on the Hot Topics thread. It’s getting intense on there! I know MY parents wouldn’t have wanted me to be on that thread when i was 9…
Yes. I think a rating is a good idea because it’s like a formal warning, but when it comes down to it I think the MBer should have the freedom of making that final choice of whether they’re going to read/participate in the thread. What do the GAPA’s think?
Do we have a music (in general) thread?
SFTDP- I found it, never mind.
I think we should have a word thread. The last is unpostable and is from a long time ago.
This is what the title and stuff was:
Words
Ebeth’s idea. Her description: “not just like word origins but accents and slang and all that good stuff…â€
Date: November 27, 2005
Categories: Random craziness
115 – https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1638 is still open.
So… anyone else for a Joss Whedon/Geeky TV Shows thread?
A RPG thread. Not a RPG, rather, a place to talk about RPGs, on blog and off. I’m sure we have some D&D players out there in the listening reading audience. Also a place to list all the RPGs on the blog and the latest threads since we have… How many now?
And… I just found the RPG Discussion Thread that POSOC started.
Doh. We used almost the exact same language… But I can’t remember that that thread ever existed.
But a new one wouldn’t be a bad idea.
SFTTP.
We should totally have an Oxymoron thread!!! Where we list great oxymorons….such as “health dessert” or “dry wetlands.” Or it could be an Oxymorons and Redundancies thread, like….”playful fun” or “you’re so stupid and you’re an idiot”! Please, GAPAs, please?
Could we have a thread devoted to the settings, characters and plots that we’ve dreampt up over the years but haven’t yet put into a tangible peice of writing?
Something like Writer’s Notebook?
BANG! BOOM! POW! KABAM! pop-pop-popPOW! WHZZZHHHwweeeoooooBWAM!!!!! schkaschkaschkaZAP!
( Onomatopoeia )
I suggest a Good News Thread
Since our Magic RPG is a small phenomenon, can we build on that success with an Elemental Magic RPG? (Elemental Magic refers to control of one of the four “elements” – water, earth, fire, or air)
Our Magic RPG is dead. I propose reviving that first, before we go off and make more based off of it.
Yes, I suppose that’s a good idea.
I had an idea for a game. It would start with one rule, and anyone who breaks that rule has to write a new rule. The rules would keep multiplying. They would be simple rules that are easy to follow, but also easy to break, like “No scratching your head.” There would also be meta-rules dictating what kind of rules could be written. If people wanted to play this, we could make a thread on it.
Interesting idea but…could you elaborate on it? It sounds a little confusing…
Hey, GAPAs? The much-loved hot topics thread is getting on to 350 posts and is a bit cumbersome, so if you have the time I for one would appreciate a new one.
Done!
A thread for talking about avatars?
Yes! I’d like a place to explain what my ever-changing avatar is.
That’s a cool idea!
There’s an ancient one somewhere… Different concept, but still an avatar thread. Search ‘avatar’,
I second the idea of a Good News Thread.
123.1 – What confuses you?
123.1 Yes, it seemed pretty straight-forward…
Never mind. Soccer starr was crazy.
Interestingly enough, speaking in the third person is in fact the second sign of insanity.
Enceladus must be insane, then.
An editing thread? After NaNo, I don’t think I’m the only one struggling to make head or tails of this …thing I’ve created (though I dare say I win the “no plot” competition).
Do we have a currently post-able mathematics thread?! If not, WE NEED ONE!!! The one I found was dead! Please GAPAs please!!
Math thread? Yes, please. (Totient of 3)nded.
Anyone else? I need some place where I can ramble on about stuff like Pell equations…
Me too! *wants to ramble about the mathematics of music, harmonics series, ect.*
Ooh! Mathematics of music would include the stuff with the Pythagoreans and the lengths of harp (I think) strings. I remember that a few summers ago, my ear liked the Pythagorean tuning better than the way pianos are currently tempered.
Me too! *drools*
That’s 4, GAPAs. *bats eyelashes*
Five.
I’ll sign on to that!
Yes please. I can talk about my new-found love of the Mandelbrott set.
I think that’s the Mandelbrot set. But yes, fractals are very lovable.
That’s 7, I think. More than enough to warrant a thread, GAPAs. *more eyelash battage*
I was wondering whether it was one ‘t’ or two… I’ve been alternating between both.
By the way, my new avatar is a portion of the Mandelbrot set, except not exactly. It’s complicated.
Yes, it’s one “t”. There’s a math competition called Mandelbrot, which I thought about (but decided against) doing. I’ve actually met two of the three founders of that contest (on separate occasions). (If we ever get a math thread, you’ll find that I’ve done a lot of mathy things where I get to meet such people.)
Your avatar doesn’t look like the Mandelbrot set per se. It looks more like a Mandelbrot-like fractal.
I met Benoit Mandelbrot once, at a conference on mathematics education. He seemed a little jet-lagged.
Have you found the old Math and Math Geeks thread?
Yes, but it’s closed.
I don’t know exactly what it is. It’s a image I made with my Mandelbrot generator, but you are correct. It’s some sort of ‘Orbit Trap’ thing? I don’t really understand it. I just use it. Mostly for artsy purposes.
It should snow here! (A good WordPress plugin is “Snow Storm”.)
Do we have a thread just for comics in general? If so, I cannot find it, if not, could we have one please? * is pestilence of Suggestion Box *
Seconded! Comics + yayness!!!
The ancient but sturdy Seriously Awesome Comics thread still has plenty of room left on it.
GAPSs, we’ll need a new Demigod RPG thread soon. Just a heads up.
Thou hast it.
Thanks ever so for the tip, GAPA Robert!!
*loves GAPAs*
GAPAs, can we please have an angst thread? Many of us have asked already.
How would angst differ from anything else that you’d want to rant and complain about?
I don’t know, it just… does.
Agnst is to complaining as boiling water is to fire works—complaining is spontaneus, loud, occasionally unjustified, often random and not always long-term. Agnst, on the other hand, is quiter, more melodramatic, less random, and often long term. Agnst is caused by lots of little things that annoy or go wrong. Complaining IS little things that annoy or go wrong.
Yes, but I know that (at least personally) my angst’s usually morph into rants.
Angst has been added to the new, improved version of the
Rants and Complaints thread. With wintry darkness hard upon us, we’re trying to steer the blog away from an uncontrolled chain reaction of negative emotions.
So erm, just a heads-up for when you have extra time… Hot topics has not reached critical mass yet but is getting close.. (we apperently go through these REALLY quickly)
If anyone else is into Pokemon besides me, we should have a Pokemon thread, where we talk about our pokemon, complain about trainers etc. etc.
GAPAs prefer not to make threads about specific things like that.
Really? That’s a shame.
We try to avoid “brand name” threads, especially for those products that have their own legions of fan sites. This is the Musiverse.
Ohh, that makes sense now! Sorry!
I think we should have a Band/Orchestra thread. There’s one, but its old and closed.
Seconded!
Thirded!
I made a thread, but I expanded it to include other music making efforts as well.
Fourthed, a little too late! I LOVE YOU ROSEBUD2 FOR SUGGESTING THE THREAD!! *huggles huggles*
What about a general mystery/detective RPG?
We’re trying to do that on the Letters: England, 1984 thread, but it’s obviously not set in modern times. If you wanted it set in modern times, then never mind.
Well, I was thinking more of a Sherlock Holmes-era RPG, which would place it around 1875-1907, so… maybe, GAPAs?
Do you mean Letters, England, 1874?
Whoops, typo! Thanks.
I had an idea for a ‘Caricature RPG’ a while back. You basically poke fun at your least favorite fiction characters/type of characters/whatever. I’m not really sure where it’d go from there, but…
138- That sounds like fun.
Oh, I like that idea! I’m not sure that we need another RPG on here though, so maybe we could expand it to just being a regular thread? I think the base idea is very clever but not so sure about it being an RPG although that would be funny.
Maybe… Or maybe something like the Bunny Melee thread? I dunno. I never had much of a good idea what would happen in a roleplay of people making fun of their characters.
Can we have a History Day thread for those who participate? It would be just like NaNoWriMo. *is hopeful*
I second that!
Could we have a history of MuseBlog thread?????? Please?????
How about an SPQR thread?
Explanation: SPQR is the acronym for the Latin phrase: Senatus Populusque Romanus (The senate and the Roman people) and it’s found all over Rome on sewer covers, et cetera. (another Latin phrase, “and the rest” or something like that) At schoolname we have a Latin program (didn’t see that one coming, did you? ) and whenever we find something that shows ancient Rome in the modern world, it goes on the SPQR section of the teacher’s bulletin board. Could we do something like that on MB? Please?
OOooooooo… I like that, considering that we’re doing Rome in Social Studies…
I like that.
Oooh, yes! I take Latin also!
Even though the thread is now already made, just for the record I take Latin too!
Yay, History Day
“Yay,” is most certainly not the right word…
**** is more like it. Or **** if you really feel bad.
Or simply invoke baked goods appropriate to the occasion.
Oh, yes! Why didn’t I think of that! *headdesk*
Yes, right around competition time I need major comfort. And that’s why we need a History Day thread!
What about a Mythological Creatures RPG or Discussion Thread? That would be kind of cool. I was thinking, if the RPG, we could be mythical creatures who, I don’t know, battle an evil corporation bent on destroyinng magic from kids’ minds, instead of being a human.
Totally seconded! That would be cool!
Yay!
That’s so cool, but we don’t need another RPG on here. (That sounds similar to the Demigod RPG anyway, even though I know there would be differences.) However I’m all for a discussion thread!
Thirded!
Yay again!
SFTDP, but if I’m not mistaken, the Magic RPG is dying, if not already dead. But yeah, it would be like the demigod RPG, I guess. I’m falling in love with RPGs!!!!!!
I was going to join the macic RPG, but my charecter got a 37 on the Mary Sue limitus test.
Well, don’t let that stop you!!
Just tweak your character a bit… Do you know why you had those extra points?
GAPAs, could we please have thread about Doctor Who?
See Geeky TV Shows.
Sorry, but the GAPAs have a policy about not doing brand name threads that are not all pervasive. For example, there’s a Calvin and Hobbes thread, but there is no Star Trek thread
GAPAs, could you create another “Come Play Paker” notice and link it to the Muse Academy Game Room? Everyone has forgotten about it.
Can we have a thread for ridiculously amazing palindromes we know? (Are We Not Drawn Onward, We Few, Drawn Onward To New Era?)
“Stacy, must I jujitsu my cats?”
Oh GAPAs please hear my plea! Me! TreeCafe wants a Inheritance Cycle thread.
See comment 145.2. But you can talk about it all you like on the new Books and Reading thread.
Wasn’t there a Eragon thread aaaages ago? I seem to remember that there was. Search ‘Eragon’
…I think I found it a while back while searching for an interesting post concerning Eragon. But I don’t remember where the post was, and my search ended up nowhere. Anyway, moving on now…
I have another good idea!!! A Character-Making Thread. You know,we just make up different characters for whatever.
Errr, With all due respect, most honored GAPAs, the Romance and Relationships thread has become a slight bit unweildy at 302 comments and I herby most humbly beseech you for a new thread.
It’s not that horribly long — much shorter than this one — but it’s a new year, so time for shiny new 2010 editions of both Romance and Relationships and the Suggestion Box.
