May “Happy Birthday” Thread
Keep an eye on “Dates to Remember,” and post your greetings and glyphs here. Coming up later this month:
05-09 Axa’s birthday (1992 – natural blues)
05-15 Qween Mae’s birthday (1992 – dusty pink)
05-23 Parmandiriel’s birthday (1989 – silver)
05-28 MemyselfandI’s birthday (1992 – blue)
(Parmandiriel doesn’t come around much nowadays, but she was a faithful Muser for many years and deserves honor.)
RRR*, version 2006.3
For those who haven’t done it before, round-robin ‘riting is like a relay race. One person writes for a while, then stops and lets someone else take over for a while. You can find examples in earlier RRR threads. It helps to decide in advance whether to agree on an overall leader to keep the story on track, and whether certain characters “belong” to certain writers as in a role-playing game. Beyond that, anything goes.
Now: who’s in, and what’s the story?
Happy Birthday, Nak*!
Nancy Kangas’s birthday is Sunday. Felicitations, O incomparable Musewriter!
(*Her name in Ble. Not “Naka”–we misremembered.)
Too Many Birthday Threads?
There have been complaints that birthdays are taking over the blog. What do you think? Should we just post a monthly thread for everyone born in, say, May? Any other ideas? We’re all ears. (That’s a weird expression, when you think about it.)
The Time 100
It’s in this week’s issue of that other magazine several MuseBloggers like. What do you think of the editors’ choices? What would a Muse 100 look like?
(Thanks to Erato for suggesting this thread.)
Happy Un-Birthmonth, Phoenix!
All we know is that she was born in May, and that we’re glad she was.
[Our mistake. See you in July! –Admin.]
ABANDON ALL HOPE Welcome, Newcomers!
Step right up to receive your welcome pie and ask the old hands what’s going on around here. First, though, please read The Rules. You might also glance at The HG2MB (Hitchhiker’s Guide to MuseBlog).
Tiffany & Laney
Their letter in the May issue declared that Muse is for nerds and could seriously damage one’s social status. Some of you think they’re clueless. Others think they’re kidding. Shriya Jeffica thinks they deserve a thread all their own. We’re not sure about that but are willing to give it a try.
Official Random Day Random Thread
Apparently every Thursday from now on will be an Official MuseBlog Random Day. We’re not going to start a special thread every week, but it seems appropriate to have one on the first Random Day, if only to figure out what to do on Random Day and how it differs from any other day around here.
Slow Weekend Ahead
Robert will be computerless from Friday morning until late Monday. He’ll check in via his Treo whenever he can. Rosanne will be around, but she has a busy weekend planned, so you’re bound to notice a slowing of the pace on the blog.
The May random thread could be delayed by a day, but we’ll try to get all of the birthday threads started before the slowdown hits.
Things should be back to normal (whatever that means) next week.

April Foolery, Part 5
Randomness times five. Or maybe times itself five times. Lots of randomness, anyway.
Hot Topics, v. 2006.3
It’s been a while since the last “Hot Topics” thread, and many new MBers have come on board. So let’s set aside a new place for topics that need careful handling and/or an extra dose of civility. Here you go.
ATTENTION: Shorter Blog Names, Please
Look at the righthand column and you’ll see why: long names make the “Recent Comments” section useless. The way the blog is growing, we need all the navigational aids we can get.
Thanks,
The Management
