Alter Ego Thread, v. 2010.1

Pick a pseudonym; guess who the other pseudonymous posters are while they try to guess you. It’s a little like “Battleship.”

Continued from version 2009.4.

REMINDER: Check your posts before sending them — the preview button is useful for that. The Administrators will not rescue you if you accidentally submit one under your “real” blogname or post elsewhere with your alter ego.

Muse Academy May Day Ball 2010

The biggest event of the academic year begins. The decorations are up, the food is ready, the musicians are practiced, rested, and in tune.

The ball lasts just a few hours in Musiverse time but unfolds over a whole month of blog time.

Formal attire required. Fortunately, all clothing is virtual, flattering in every respect, and incredibly comfortable to wear.

Note: the rooftop garden will open anon.

Lists, Lists, Lists

Why do we so love our lovely lists?

1. They’re fun.
2. They’re a way to pretend one is organized.
3. They look nice.
4. They satisfy one’s sense of order and futility all at the same time.
5. They give one a sense of accomplishment even while procrastinating
6. They look like they mean something.
7. They’re full of Muserly froodiness.

Random Thread: “Interesting Times,” Part 3

Europe came late to kite-flying, no mention of them is made there until the 16th century CE. Meanwhile, the Chinese had been flying kites since the 4th or 5th century BCE. We’ll have just enough time to catch a quick glimpse of these high-flying kites as we sail through the last day of February’s Random thread. Defining MuseBlog (Since 2005)

Define the undefinable, you say? We wouldn’t be Muserly if we didn’t try from time to time. Below the fold, a compendium of quips in quest of the MuseBlog quintessence, a celebration of those moments when je ne sais quoi almost spake its name.

[This thread inspired by Princess_Magnolia’s comment about KaiYves’s sketch: “I have to admit I’ve never ever thought about ‘personified space stations’ before. You have officially brought a whole new dimension to my thinking.]

Random Thread: Anchors Aweigh, Part 2

As the Random Thread sets off on its year-long voyage of historical discovery (still in the era of Ancient Greece), throngs of well-wishers turn out to wish us fair winds and a following sea. Some of them even seem to be trying to blow a little extra wind our way… Continue reading “Random Thread: Anchors Aweigh, Part 2”
