Official Random Day Random Thread
Apparently every Thursday from now on will be an Official MuseBlog Random Day. We’re not going to start a special thread every week, but it seems appropriate to have one on the first Random Day, if only to figure out what to do on Random Day and how it differs from any other day around here.
Slow Weekend Ahead
Robert will be computerless from Friday morning until late Monday. He’ll check in via his Treo whenever he can. Rosanne will be around, but she has a busy weekend planned, so you’re bound to notice a slowing of the pace on the blog.
The May random thread could be delayed by a day, but we’ll try to get all of the birthday threads started before the slowdown hits.
Things should be back to normal (whatever that means) next week.
–Your overcommitted GAPAs
Happy Birthday, Bob’s Your Uncle!
Happy Birthday, Pink Stalking Penguin of Penzance!
Happy Birthday, Em!
Holocaust Remembrance Day
By request of Headmaster Yoda.
April Foolery, Part 5
Randomness times five. Or maybe times itself five times. Lots of randomness, anyway.
Hot Topics, v. 2006.3
Closed to further comments. Seek out v. 2006.4.
It’s been a while since the last “Hot Topics” thread, and many new MBers have come on board. So let’s set aside a new place for topics that need careful handling and/or an extra dose of civility. Here you go.
ATTENTION: Shorter Blog Names, Please
Look at the righthand column and you’ll see why: long names make the “Recent Comments” section useless. The way the blog is growing, we need all the navigational aids we can get.
Thanks,
The Management
Plays/Acting/Theater/Theatre
A lot of MuseBloggers are doing this, and Shakespeare’s birthday is the ideal day to launch a thread about it.
Shakespeare’s Birthday
Born on this day in 1564
(Or maybe yesterday–we only know
When he was christened), Shakespeare still remains
The universally acknowledged king
Of English poetry. To honor him
We ask that Musers posting on this thread
Attempt to write all of their messages
In iambs (the poetic “foot” that goes
Ta-DAH), five to a line–in other words,
Pentameter. True, that will take some work,
But pretty soon you’ll get the hang of it:
Ta-DAH, ta-DAH, ta-DAH, ta-DAH, ta-DAH,
Just like this introduction. So, good luck!
Maybe Paul Baker will drop by. (For all
We know, he talks in sonnets all the time.)
Happy Birthday, book_addict!
Monday the 24th is the day. Green is the color. Virtual books, presumably, are the virtual gift of choice.
MuseBlog RPG*, version 2006.2, Part 1
Continued on Part Two.
The old RPG (version 2006.1) is overflowing with posts. Do you want to continue it according to the same rules, or start a new one with new rules? Decide, and proceed.
New rules. See inside.
Earth Day
It’s too mainstream a holiday to make it into our “Dates to Remember” sidebar, but some of you want to to talk about it, so here you go.
Pie War and/or Peace, Part 3
Once again, the blog finds itself at a crossroads.
Boy Power
Fair’s fair. Haven’t seen many of them around here lately, though.
Girl Power
Your wish is our command.
Dreams
We’ve done this before, but not for a while. Herewith, by popular acclaim…
Happy Birthday, Andromeda!
What kind of name is Pineapple-Duck? And what is your favorite color, so we can all wear it?
May/June Issue Roll Call & Commentary
The May/June Muse seems to have been printed unusually early. Let us know when it arrives and what you think of it (careful: may contain spoilers). And don’t forget to craunch the marmoset! (See page 21.)
Music
Requested by several MuseBloggers, most recently General Yoda. All kinds–whatever you listen to, whatever you like to play.
