Happy 131st Birthday and a Bit, Albert Einstein!

There was a young lady named Bright
Whose speed was much faster than light;
She set out one day,
In a relative way
And returned on the previous night.

Unfortunately, we weren’t fast enough to post an announcement on Einstein’s actual birthday (March 14). Nevertheless, on behalf of all the bright young ladies and gentlemen here assembled, MuseBlog thanks him.

Boston/Cambridge Kokonvention, March 13, 2010

It starts at 11:30 a.m. blog time (12:30 Boston time). No doubt the Kokonventioneers will find a way to report in during the proceedings; in any case, we’re sure to hear from them eventually.

Prussiania RRR

There were rumblings about a Prussianian role-playing game back in January, but MuNoWriMo intervened. If you’re still interested, MuseBlog is now ready for you.

RPGs seem limiting, though, with one character to a customer and all the concomitant worries about power-playing. Are you sure you wouldn’t rather have an RRR?

(To help you with research, we’re adding a “Prussiania” subcategory to the list of thread categories.)

Chess: bookgirl_me vs. cromwell — 1-0

Two undefeated players (by our count, cromwell has won 1 standard game and 1 Capablanca Chess game on the blog; bookgirl_me has won 1 standard game, 1 Capablanca game, and 1 game of Turbo Chess). As usual, we’ve assigned the black pieces to the person who requested the game.

bookgirl_me, as White, moves first.

Random Thread: “Interesting Times,” Part 3

Europe came late to kite-flying, no mention of them is made there until the 16th century CE. Meanwhile, the Chinese had been flying kites since the 4th or 5th century BCE. They served many uses besides entertainment, from military technology to meditation. Some played music. Some featured animals with eyes, paws, or tails that moved. We’ll have just enough time to catch a quick glimpse of these high-flying kites as we sail through the last day of February’s Random thread.
