No time to make this pretty right now — suffice it to say that MuseBlog is back in business! Welcome, Studgers, um, we mean Musers!
Howdy, stranger! You new around here? Come right in! We’ve got some pie waiting for you, and friendly locals ready to answer your questions and help you feel at home.
For starters, we recommend that newcomers (that’s what “neophytes” means) look over The Rules and The HG2MB (Hitchhiker’s Guide to MuseBlog), which contains more helpful information than you can shake a stick at. We don’t know why you’d want to shake a stick at it, but now you know you don’t have to bother.
Don’t forget to stop by Who’s Here (see the menu at the top of your screen) and announce your arrival in a comment there, so we’ll be sure to add you to the official list.
MuseBlog Veterans: Please use this thread only to welcome newcomers as they arrive and answer questions that they ask.
Help others navigate the blog by signposting your favorite threads here, when they’ve scrolled off the main page.
(Note: Please include the URL (Web address) with your requests. It also helps if you limit your requests to a few at a time, four or five at the most.)

Luminiferous Luna turns a staggering 21 years old today (Tuesday, March 29). We’d say she deserves at least a 21-pie salute and a shower of flowers on the March “Happy Birthday!” Thread.
Just a quick reminder, for those who haven’t discovered it yet, that there’s much more Muserly miscellanea at musemagkids.com.
To relieve the congestion on the Random thread.
For those just tuning in, Cleverbot is an upgrade of Jabberwacky, described on Wikipedia as “a chatterbot created by British programmer Rollo Carpenter. Its stated aim is to “simulate natural human chat in an interesting, entertaining and humorous manner”. It is an early attempt at creating an artificial intelligence through human interaction.” It can be found, cleverly enough, at cleverbot.com. More information available on Wikipedia under the topic “Jabberwacky.”
Errata proposed this thread, to popular acclaim. We GAPAs don’t really understand it don’t understand it at all, but that has never kept threads from working in the past. Here’s the description:
You think of creative reasons that wasting time is actually constructive, and type them all out! If we wanted to, we could also expand it into actually getting the jobs, as in people create mock jobs, others apply for them, and then the creator gets to chose one, based on their application. Then… Oh! Maybe we could have ‘Job Points’ or something similar, that you get when you get a job! Okay, that’s my idea. *beams*
WARNING! Will definitely contain spoilers!
To spare MBers reading the “Recent Comments” columns, please paste the following message in at the beginning of your posts:
SPOILER MUSE SPOILER SPOILER.
(Remember the period at the end. Otherwise the warning won’t conceal the comment.)

Let us know when your issue arrives. NO SPOILERS, please. There’s another thread for discussing the issue.
According to the U.S. Naval Observatory, the Vernal Equinox occurs today (Friday, March 20) at 6:44 a.m. blog time. We’re ready for spring. How about you?
(Of course, our friends in the Southern Hemisphere are having an entirely different experience.)
A thread for discussing boxes, metaphorical ones: not fitting into the box you’re supposed to, being in a mislabeled box, changing boxes, or even challenging them. What sorts of boxing matches (or mismatches) have affected you?
Second verse, same as the first: The March Random Thread celebrates our own invention, the International Month of Anachronism Detection and Scrupulous Attention to Detail. As always, of course, you’re free to talk about anything you like.
Continued from Part One.

He was born on Pi Day, and he said:
“It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education.”
“One should guard against preaching to young people success in the customary form as the main aim in life. The most important motive for work in school and in life is pleasure in work, pleasure in its result, and the knowledge of the value of the result to the community.”
“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day.”
“A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit and a violin; what else does a man need to be happy?”
Two months in a row, this time with Pi Day hot on its heels! How is your luck holding out this month?
These silly threads fill up almost faster than we can create them. You know the drill: pick a pseudonym; guess and be guessed.

From there to here, from here to there,
Funny things are everywhere.
Indeed they are — and nowhere more so than on MuseBlog. We’re pretty sure the good doctor would have approved of Muse, the Muses, and us.
A thread on which Musers who have written, are writing, or want to write books can bounce ideas off others who share that interest.
Continued from v. 2008.3.
A.k.a. counterfactual history: by overwhelming popular request, a thread for discussing things that didn’t happen and how the world might have been different if they had.
