Musery Loves Company

Robert writes:

Over the past few months I’ve mentioned a couple of mysterious Muse-related projects that I’ve been working on. One of them, a collaboration between me and my fellow moderator Rebecca Lasley (a.k.a. Lady Bunniful), has now reached the sneak-preview stage. It’s not up and running yet, so please don’t try to do anything with it. But if you’d care to visit www.cafepress.com/musery , we’d love to hear what you think.

Project number two will be unveiled in a few weeks.

Too Much Noise on the Blog?

A couple of MB veterans are getting frustrated with pointless posts. What do you think?

Dear GAPA person,

We are writing to you after a period of frustration with our fellow, usually lovely, MBers. We feel that it may be a time to instate a new rule. We have been also feeling rather nostalgic for the old days. We feel that the old days of conversation and getting to know each other have been lost amidst people posting eight times in a row with nothing to say. People seem to view the MB as a place to burn some time, not a place to converse with other Musers. We feel that it is important that the MB continue to be a place to spend time with other smart, intelligent, thinking individuals and not a place to go for time wasting inane conversation. We think that if MBers would realize they need to have something to say when they post, the MB would make a marked improvement. We would be conversing, discussing and enjoying ourselves. If you look back on the old threads, you see MBers enjoying themselves in true conversation just as if they were talking in real life.

Randomness is good, but it must be balanced with conversations with a purpose. You can have randomness, and still have order; it is the pointless comments we have a problem with. There is a difference between a random comment and a pointless comment. Too many of us have forgotten this difference, forgotten how to converse “Does anyone else hate the Red Hot Chili Peppers?” is a random comment. “OHMYGAH FIRST POST!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHEEEEE!!!!!” is a pointless comment. We feel that too many Muse bloggers have forgotten what the difference is. Pointless comments shouldn’t be posted.

We feel that a rule or suggestion banning pointless posting would make the MB much more enjoyable, for newbies and veterans alike. We would appreciate it if you posted this on it’s own thread in the Museblog so that other Musers can add their thoughts.

Sincerely,

MontgomeryGurl and elassë~adael

New GAPAs on Board / Pie Wars

With Rosanne touring Europe, Robert has felt the need of some help in moderating the blog. So he’s sworn in Paul Baker and Rebecca Lasley (Lady Bunniful) as co-administrators. Please welcome them in traditional MuseBlog fashion and treat them with all the awe and reverence a GAPA usually inspires.

September 27–
ATTENTION: Hostilities have broken out. Pie war advisory. Proceed with caution!

Rosanne is Away for a Month

She and her husband are visiting Europe. She sent Robert this e-note:

Subject: Drat, can’t get on the blog to say bye for a while

tell them i’ll miss them and that they shouldn’t be too unruly because you’ll have a lot to handle as a one GAPA show.

have fun!

i’ll be back in regular blog contact on Oct. 26.

Rosanne

Robert @ Muse H.Q.

That’s right: this week, one of your GAPAs will be visiting Muse headquarters in Chicago to help cook up diabolical surprises for future issues. (His Pwt-mobile, however, will be staying home in Virginia.) Blog moderation may slow down a bit, especially at night, so be warned.

[We’ve opened this thread up to comments, because some people seemed to want them. Beats us why, but you know what softies we are. –Admin.]

Muse Movie, Part 3: Expert Advice

Samantha Sordyl’s friend Pat Dahl has agreed to come on board the blog and talk about your ideas for a Muse movie. He works in Hollywood (in TV, but knows a lot about movies) and has read Attack of the Smart Pies.

(For those who came in late, planning and lobbying for a Muse movie is Cedar’s big project. You can read more about it at Muse Movie? and Muse Movie? Part 2.)

Happy Birthday, Museblog!

Aye, ’tis true: our beloved blog came into being one year ago today. We were so young then…

For whatever it’s worth, some thoughtful MBer has seen fit to designate this date as GAPA Appreciation Day. We’re not sure exactly what that entails or how it’s to be celebrated, but we’d be very surprised if airborne baked goods didn’t enter into the equation.
